Ordered gifts for Christmas on 12/16, and according to everything on their website the latest delivery that should have been expected with ground delivery would have been 12/23. Little did we know Whitley's would try to save a few pennies and send it sure post, which basically guaranteed it would not arrive by Christmas, nor would we be able to change the delivery options with UPS since the package arrived in their hometown on Christmas eve before being handed over to the USPS (which won't deliver until 12/26 at the earliest). Spoke to Jennifer at Whitley's on Christmas eve about this and she assured me that it would be made right, with either a partial or full refund on the order. Fantastic! Called back on 12/26 and spoke with Luanne, who had a completely different tune. She was quite condescending and did nothing to make the situation right, going as far as saying Jennifer was a new employee and shouldn't have offered any sort of refunds in the first place. If you are placing an order as a gift (even after selecting it as a gift and selecting a delivery date), don't plan on it showing up on time because they are skimping on shipping charges and apparently don't care about the consumer. read more

Would never recommend these peanuts. I loved the sack they came in and used it as part of a costume (actually the reason I bought these high $ peanuts). However, the peanuts were terrible. Old, shrunk up peanuts and shells had some mold on several. Certainly not the jumbo they advertised. Threw 1/4 of the peanuts away. I would never buy from them again. read more

I was really pleased with this peanut factory. When I walked in, there was a large assortment of different peanut and other nut products. There are a lot of samples scattered throughout the store, and they use little testing spoons for you to try pieces of each. I was really surprised by all of the variety that they offered such as maple bacon peanuts, chocolate covered almonds, crunchy peanut butter bars, and salty caramel peanuts. I would definitely recommend this peanuts shop if you are looking for a unique peanut snack, and I think that this place is moderately priced. The only thing that I did not appreciate was the poor customer service I received from the lady that was working. I don't think that this review should reflect her potentially bad day, but maybe someone should look into that. read more

this place, was SUCH a treat! first of all, we came here after a large meal and could not help ourselves, we wanted to taste everything! I love a place that bothers to have samples when they have this much to choose from and lets keep in mind, these are local va peanuts so fresh and delicious but not cheap so the opportunity to taste and all the mixed nut varieties etc where fantastic and very much appreciated. then, at the check out counter, I realized that I had only bought for myself so I quickly grabbed a few sampler sizes as gifts! and finally, I noticed I purchased chocolate... we were getting ready to go mini golfing and in 90+ degree weather it would not have made it. I asked if there was any way she could put it aside for me and we could pick it up after she said absolutely! she pulled out a sharpie wrote my name on it and attached a copy of my receipt to show it was paid for in case she was not there when we returned. every single thing in this place was delicious, be careful, you will walk away with more then you expected! read more

Their excellent guest service the second you walk in the door was refreshing. They had free samples for almost every nut they sold. Everything was reasonably priced and I still spent almost $30. Every time we go to Williamsburg, we always have to stop here for an assortment of nuts. I like to get a lot of Christmas gifts here or a tin of nuts to bring into work for functions. They have different types of flavors. My favorite so far are the butterscotch ones. read more

I received a 10 pound bag of salted roasted peanuts in the shell as a gift. I love peanuts. This bag claims to be jumbo peanuts. The peanuts are not jumbo And The bag is full of dud nuts, twigs, empty shells and peanut refuse. There is about 1 in 20 maybe jumbo nuts in the bag. For 5 bucks a pound this is a rip off . Hampton nuts in the shell are $1.89 a pound in my local store. And they are not filled with empty shells and duds. Whats a dud? Crack a shell and find a hard shriveled up tooth breaker that you would no give to your dog...thats a dud. This product is sub par And not worth $5 bucks a pound. read more

Poor customer service, poor business model and they lie about shipping. I placed 2 orders online Sunday; one at 10am and another at 9pm. They filled the 9pm order first to Boston on Monday and delayed the 10am orders to California to Tuesday and now my Christmas nuts for dinner are arriving the day after Christmas. They do not fulfil orders of when they are received and in fact fulfilled the cheaper item first. Ouch! I saw an email this morning saying they promise if I ordered by noon today they would get the order in time by Christmas. I nicely asked them to upgrade my shipping, or ship the morning offer and even said I would pay half priced. NOPE! They do not stand behind their products, their promise or their shipping. After looking on yelp for places to stop while vacationing in Williamsburg, Whitley's caught my eye since I am a peanut junkie. At the time I arrived I was the only customer there in which the woman who worked there greeting me and briefed me of what is around the store. There were free samples in front of the assorted peanut flavors in which she encouraged us to try. My favorite was the cinnamon honey roasted peanuts and the chipotle flavored almonds. They were dynamite. Seeing some of the flavors was a breath of fresh air for me to try some new bold peanuts with a twist that I have not come across before. For anyone who loves peanuts and is wanting to try some new flavors that most stores do not carry, I encourage you to try this place. read more

This is not American peanut at all, the smell of the peanut so awful and taste biter,can tell it from Mexico or China, I bought a bag of peanut with shell unsalted ,in the bag lost of shell broken and with lost of shell powder in the bag, the satisfaction guarantee just a joke, you need to return the peanuts and the shipping will be more of the price you pay. must let the FBI or some health agency know abut this and look into it. if any one know who to report to please do so. for the say of America. read more
