In House Roasted Turkey Sandwich with stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mayo
Lauren B.

Whitney Donut is one of my go-to lunch spots for work. They have the best daily specials. Today I opted for In House Turkey with stuffing, cranberry, and mayo on a roll. It had the perfect proportion of each ingredient, and it was delicious! My favorite item from Whitney is their housemade eggplant parm on a roll, which is normally available on Mondays and Fridays. This goes without saying, but their doughnuts are incredible too! The staff is always nice and the inside is very clean. It's definitely more of an order to-go ratger than a dine-in restaurant, but there are a few tables available inside. They also have a drive-thru, which is super convenient!

After seeing Whitney Donut on a best donut in CT list, I recently visited for the first time. Before I even walked in, I had a picture of Whitney's massive popularity when I saw cars hovering to take opening spots, a person-line out the front door and a car-line stretching around 3 sides of the building. There are a few tables inside, but most people got takeout. I noted that the Whitney donut box included the slogan "Where Friends and Family Like to Meet", and I did in fact see a few such meetings. So good for them. In any event, the inside vibe is old school. We ordered a 1/2 dozen donuts and a couple of bagel sandwiches. My Taylor Ham, Grilled Egg and American on an Everything Bagel was very good. The texture of the bagel was right on, although the topping did not have much everything. The donuts are classic style. I tried part of a chocolate and plain twist cruller and a maple bacon donut. Both were fresh and had good texture. I especially liked the sweet and salty contrast on the bacon and maple. Whitney is a cool and very good classic donut shop. It's must visit if you're the the type of person who likes to hit all the best CT donut shops. Five Stars

Chicken sausage egg and cheese

This was the first time my boyfriend and I have been here. We went inside the service was pretty quick they have a nice variety of donuts and bagels to choose from. Honestly the donuts were absolutely delicious and my bacon egg and cheese was amazing! However my boyfriend tried the chicken sausage egg and cheese for the first time ever and he was just not a fan at all. We would definitely come back for sure though! We did eat inside they have some tables and a counter with some stools. The staff were nice. Overall would totally recommend!

I'd like to start by saying the sandwich I got for lunch was fresh, delicious, made quickly, and loaded with turkey. I like the mom & pop feel with the hometown vibe inside the shop. I would like to think this place is a hometown staple as it was very busy for lunch and a lot of the regulars said hello to one another. It made the place feel warm and inviting. The doughnut options were great though I did not come for sweets today. The house specials were on a localized board in the center and they newly started no egg sandwiches in the afternoon after 12. Being new in the area I was going for an egg and cheese and wouldn't have known about the no egg sandwiches after noon deal unless I was a regular here. I arrived at 12:07 for lunch. You can build your own sandwich or wrap and order in house or order ahead. The drive thru is a nice option for pickup. Overall, I would come back. The Rye bread was super fresh and tasty I wonder if it is made in house as I forgot to ask. A very great lunch spot for reasonable prices.

Whitney Donut never ceases to amaze us. It was mid afternoon and my friend needed her coffee fix. The place was jamming and take out orders were flying out the front door. Even the drive-through window was backed up to Whitney Avenue. I agreed to split a chocolate cruller which was delicious. Even more tempting was watching the sandwich maker with the skill, patience, and professionalism of an artist designing a real masterpiece. I will definitely keep it in mind for future reference when we want a phenomenal sandwich. The variety of sandwiches as you can see from the menu are very tempting.

Just passing thru, I needed a coffee-bathroom break and came across this cute little doughnut shop. I ordered a coconut doughnut, it wasn't sweet? It tasted like a doughnut made with sadness. Coffee was good and my doughnut just was. Peace out!

Today I wanted a good donut, and a good cup of coffee for breakfast. Their are only two places I would go for that and Whitney Donut is one of those places. Their premium donuts don't compare to supermarket, and donut chain donuts. Always fresh and packed with filling. They also have bagels, salads, and sandwiches.

$8.16 for this!!!!??? Very disappointing and a big rip off!!!

Always great with good selections. The only negative is if you let them choose (drive thru), you get too many plain ones.

Everyone that had the Pizza thought it was a very good. Side of french fries was very large. Two kids devoured it by the time I got to take a picture. My mother had this spaghetti and meatballs and liked it a lot. She enjoyed the meatballs himself as they had a lot of flavor and she could see the ingredients inside such as parsley and garlic. My sister enjoyed her angel hair and Alfredo sauce as well as they both enjoyed the soup. Super salad comes with your dinner and as you can see, the soup was very large. My husband had a house salad, and he added blackened shrimp, which came with a good amount of shrimp, avocado, raisins, and almonds. He liked the salad very much. I ordered a special the gnocchi with marinara sauce, and burrata . Overall, the sauce was very good, but I disliked how much sauce was given. For me, I felt like it was too much sauce and my pasta was swimming in it. I would request less sauce the next time I go. Overall, the price was not bad at all. We all enjoy our meal and every single one of us brought food home. Oh, on the sidenote, a good amount of their soups are made vegetarian. This is difficult to find so if you are looking for a vegetarian soup, they told me the escarole and beans, pasta, , pasta fagiol and the lentils were all done.

Most of their baked goods were sold out, which totally made sense because it was nearly closing time and the items that remained looked delicious. So we were sure that whatever had been sold before was more of the same. I ordered a hot latte and the kiddo ordered a raspberry tea. We also decided to order toasted sandwiches (grilled vegetables for me and grilled cheese for her) to enjoy in the shop. Enjoy we did! The latte was served with a foam smiley face. The espresso was strong and delicious and tempered nicely by the milk. Her tea was piping hot and fruity. The sandwiches were toasted but not blazing hot, for which we were thankful because we were very hungry. They also weren't greasy - an issue I have with other toasted sandwiches. As a side note - why do sandwich shops slather sandwiches in oil or butter when a simple iron sandwich press and a hot grill will suffice? Anyway, our sandwiches were great! They were filling but didn't leave us feeling lethargic (please refer back to the not greasy comment.) We were so happy to have a good meal and a seat after a long tour around the Quinnipiac campus. Bussing one's table is expected and the staff kept the tables spic and span in between patrons. Speaking of the staff, the young man who took our order and was servicing the dining area was kind and patient as we ordered. We made sure to leave fifteen minutes before closing because we didn't want to be THOSE people, namely the couple in the corner who'd setup their computer shop and looked to have no intention of leaving without a fight. We will definitely return to Bread & Chocolate if we find ourselves in the area again.

This place was extremely disappointing…read more I've had their bread at local restaurants and always thought it was excellent, which is what motivated me to visit in person. Over the past few months, I tried stopping by three separate times, twice they were already closed, and once they had completely sold out of bread. I finally made it there on a Sunday morning, and they had only one loaf left, and not a type I wanted. We decided to order two egg and cheese sandwiches (one with turkey bacon). Both were terrible. The rolls were soft, soggy, wet, and flavorless. Each sandwich had a single egg placed off-center, so half the roll barely had any egg at all. The turkey bacon was so bad we removed it and threw it out. Normally, I would have just moved on and not returned. But what really pushed me to write this review (which I never write) was the carrot cake we purchased. We took it home, refrigerated it, and tried it later that evening. It was, without question, the worst piece of carrot cake I've ever had. The frosting was hard, dry, stale, and completely lacking flavor, no sweetness at all. The cake itself was equally bad: dry, crumbly, and utterly tasteless. There was no hint of carrot, cinnamon, nutmeg, or any spice, just bland, dry crumbs. The cake was completely lacking sugar. After two bites, we threw it in the garbage. I don't say this lightly. I've been cooking and baking for decades, hold a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, and spent over 20 years in the industry. I've traveled extensively and eaten outstanding food around the world. For me, someone who genuinely loves desserts, to throw cake away (which is rare) says everything. I understand it was a Sunday and that fresh baking may not be happening that day, but it's simply not acceptable to sell baked goods from prior days that are clearly stale. Even more concerning than the staleness however, was the complete lack of flavor in the product. The sandwiches were disappointing, but that cake was on another level. I won't be returning for sandwiches or desserts, but perhaps the bread.
