I started coming to IronGloves to train for an upcoming charity boxing match. In just two short weeks, I have learned a ton about proper technique while also losing a few pounds and inches off of my waist. In less than a month, I can already wear dress shirts that I had taken out of my rotation because I had gotten too heavy. I can also see my endurance improving rapidly. During my first personal training workout, I felt like I was going to pass out because I was so out of shape. Now, I'm powering through my workouts while still retaining proper form and technique. Lastly, I can't say enough about how amazing owners Joe and Renene are. Joe is a great trainer who really motivates you to reach your personal fitness goals. I went in weighing about 148 (I'm 5'9'')... and, I lost 18 pounds in about two months. (Keep in mind, I did absolutely NO working out on my own... So the results are ALL thanks to Kevin). I also built arm and stomach muscle I'd never seen on myself before. On top of that, I changed my eating habits based on Kevin's recommendation... and I will be a Paleo 'dieter' for life. Turns out, grains were the root of my stomach problems... I am a person who absolutely hates working out. I won't go to the gym on my own. But Kevin keeps your sessions to about 30 minutes... and he varies the exercises to keep things interesting. Kettle bells are awesome. I feel like those give you the biggest results for the least amount of work. He also incorporates barbells, sledge hammers/tires (my fave!), etc. Kevin also offers bootcamp classes on top of your one-on-one sessions. I have not tried one of these, but it's certainly a nice bonus for anybody who wants to squeeze in an extra workout. I've worked with a Lifetime fitness trainer in the past, and let me tell you... they don't even compare to Kevin. Plus, they're at least twice as expensive. I highly recommend giving Body Focus Fitness a try. I'm a changed person because of this place!!!

But dude... this is the best workout in Phoenix, and definetly the best I have ever done for myself. The workout is different every day. Your trainer will create exercises for you to complete that will target groups of muscles to work together rather than just one repetitive gym machine motion. You will use different kinds of props to keep you distracted from the task at hand, such as dumbbells, kettlebells, ropes, tires, sledgehammers, pull up bars, and your own pathetic, grunting ass. Is it difficult? Absolutely! It will kick your ass from start to finish! But it's over faster than you think, and the combination of strength training + cardio keeps your metabolism humming for hours. I was greeted by the most welcoming faces. Although extremely challenging, the session was filled with support, guided instruction and actual fun! Coach Efrain made me comfortable and helped me to enhance my lifting and deep squats (I did all of that recovering from a knee injury). I walked into an advance team, that was patient and encouraging. I left with fitness training, new friends and a renewed sense of personal strength. You Make CrossFit is truly a special place.

I was new to CrossFit & new to group workouts so I was a little nervous at first. Coach Efrain was really great because he broke everything down for me since I was new with some one on one personal training classes & then when he thought I was ready I joined the group classes. The group classes are really fun because everyone is so welcoming and we all push each other so it makes for a great workout. The other thing I like about the classes is the different workouts Coach E would have planned for us. I feel it's a good mix of workouts throughout the week that target different parts of the body. Being that I'm 37 now and had use to have some back pain, I feel the best I ever felt. I'm not big on leaving reviews but for Coach E, it's the least I can do to say how thankful I am for my time there.

This location is one of the nicer and newer EOS and while some of my favorite instructors (Sidney Ford) teaches here, I don't find myself popping in. It's a bit too long of a commute for my fitness class needs. EōS is a solid gym and I have no real complaints. I get to do what I need to do and get out with relative ease. Parking can be a rough though as it's a very popular EōS location.

The atmosphere has a near-perfect mix of old-school and high-end anabolic/clean equipment. If you want to compete and be engulfed entirely in the bodybuilding environment, then 100% spend the $69 to get a membership. They also occasionally freeze adding new members, so as to avoid the gym ever feeling too busy (maintaining the "private gym" experience and community), which is amazing, and something I've never seen before. Cons: The price is $69 ($59 if you commit to 3 months, or $49 if you commit to 6 months) per month, which is quite the sum. There is also no two arm cable machine, save the large cable machine in the middle. This makes some sense, because this is supposed to be very old school bodybuilding-esc, so it's definitely something that I wouldn't necessarily say is a bad thing, but it's important to consider if you can't see yourself working out without that. Overall, if you can get past the price and want perhaps the best gym vibe around, this is absolutely 100% the place you HAVE to go to. The community is amazing so positive as well. I would love to compete one day, but I'm currently not in a position to afford that price, so I won't be going here beyond my three day free pass for the time being. If you can afford it, however, definitely don't miss out on this opportunity. It's something I'm not sure you can find anywhere else.

I suspect the monthly price is actually ridiculous, but that's up to you to decide because I'm not paying! Ok let's talk about the bad things first, and they're not bad enough to lower it from 5-stars: 1. The place gets busy. Too busy, in my humble introvert opinion. Not much you can do about that, but avoid peak hours. 2. Every other gym I've gone to uses tape to mark their routes, which means any route can use any climbing hold. At this gym, they color code them BY THE HOLDS, and then the route difficulty is by color also, which means there are lots of cool holds that you'll never get to touch simply because they're a different color from the difficulties you're doing. This does limit the variety somewhat. Ok, everything else is good. The facility itself has like, everything. I don't even want everything - I just want to boulder. But they've got a vast outdoor area to relax or play in, studios, weights, and some wild varieties of climbing gear. The bouldering area is very large, with all kinds of features that I don't even know the official names for, but you can climb over and under and around pretty much any type of scenario you could want. The mats are premium, and they have down-climb holds in a lot of areas which is great for people like me who try to avoid higher-impact falls. While I do appreciate the hole-in-the-wall grungy gyms where things might be a little more personal and less crowded, I honestly think you'll have trouble finding a better climbing gym than this, anywhere.
