I also got an iced coffee which was delicious. I'm glad I made that decision instead of hitting up Starbucks next door. TLDR; The bagels are great, the cream cheese flavors are made in house, the service is awesome and the price is right! I come in once a week for my everything bagel with hatch chile cream cheese and small coffee. It comes to $6 with 20% tip! It takes them less than 5 minutes to get it out to me. Once I thought about changing my order to try their pumpkin spice bagel, but I couldn't commit. The lady snuck a free bagel into my bag for me to try. I was having the worst week and honestly, it was the nicest little surprise! Having recently moved from the NY tri-state area I miss Taylor Ham Egg & Cheese. Saw this spot on Yelp it caught my attention. They have over 10 types of bagels, 3 meats and 5 cheese types, spreads too if you like a cream cheese bagel. What they don't have is DECAF coffee. I love coffee the caf doesn't love me back so decaf is a happy medium. Well not at this spot but is ok the food was still very good, decor was legit NYC style. Limited seating and plenty of parking. I woke up one morning craving a bagel, and my roommate had previously raved about how good this place is. I came in and went with an everything bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese. They definitely don't skimp on the cream cheese!!!!! It's enough to spread on both sides. The bagels are flavored so well, and the cream cheeses are awesome. Trying this place out. I was super excited, but super disappointed in a few things I saw. No gloves, no hairnet on that long hair. There was even a guy with a long dreadlock beard in the kitchen. We witnessed one of the employees wiping the bottom of the case with her hands and then going right back to preparing food with her bare hands. We also saw the one with long hair wipe her hands on her jeans and continue to prepare food. I support small business but I also support propped sanitary procedures. read more

Wholy bagel it's just what it says a bagel shop. A small bagel shop. But pay attention these people have come from the East Coast men make bagels the way bagels are supposed to be made. They have Pumpernickel which always makes me happy. The quality of their bagels is excellent baked fresh daily of course and look at the wall in the decorations and the acknowledgements of the quality of their Bangles by people who judge Bagels a lot. Probably the best bagel sandwich I've found in Austin, although not the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. I am a turkey sandwich kind of girl - turkey, deli mustard, tomato, onion - and the simplicity is beautifully done at Wholy Bagel. The selection of bagels is awesomeeeee - I prefer the garlic, onion, or salt, which tend to be novelties in this region. I'm happy with the quality of the ingredients and have never had an unsatisfactory food experience here. I do not go very often, because they close around 2 or 3 (more my problem than theirs), and because they are expensive! It can be $20 for what is a pretty basic meal (sandwich, chips, drink). To echo other reviewers, it does take a minute to get your food, and the employees always seem exhausted. Also... papers taped to the counter boast menu items like challah bread, cannoli, and other delightful items, but when I've asked about them, I'm told these items are either available by pre-order only or Wholy Bagel has run out of them. Quite disappointing. Worth a try, for sure, but not the absolute best experience. read more

If it's not Wholy Bagel is it even really a bagel? I live this place for a quick and affordable weekend breakfast. The bagels are some of the best bagels I've ever had, they're soft, flavorful and fluffy. Their breakfast sandwiches as made to order which gives it the freshness that people like me look for in an environment with so many fast food options. I frequent an egg sausage and pepper jack sandwich on jalapeño cheddar because you have that nice little kick from all the spice elements that just make you love the sandwich even more! If you're going during rush hour (aka when people start waking up on the weekend) I'd call ahead cause that line can get a little crazy...that's just means their bagels are good though. During the fall they're had an orange cranberry bagel as well which is amazing toasted with butter so hoping that'll come back soon read more

Great bagels. Come here often. That said, every time we come here there is a persistent issue that drives me crazy. The staff, usually the person at the register but also others, appear to be constantly annoyed. If they're tired of constantly reminding people to stand in a line toward the door maybe they should put a giant sign up above the register that says 'Line Starts Here'? If they're annoyed by having to ask people to restate their order in a order that is easier for them to understand, maybe they should have printed out cards where people can simply check off what they want before they get to the register? If they're tired of calling names out over and over again maybe they can have a sign with the names of the ready orders so that they don't need to call them out loud so much? Each of these things are design problems that have designable solutions. I imagine receiving hungry customers all morning can be an annoying task but I hope that the store gives itself a break and just solves these problems on their own side so they don't have to be so unhappy about it all the time. read more

In my opinion, these guys make the best bagel in Austin. Crusty outside, soft inside. I especially like their blueberry variety. The staff is friendly, efficient, and while sometimes busy, the lines are usually short. One issue though, and this is the second time in recent memory that I have experienced this.... They don't always make what you ask for. I like a toasted bagel. I've taken to saying "well toasted", to communicate my desires. I ended up with the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had in my life from eating at this place. Never ever again. The good: This is the first time I've ever written a review with literally nothing good to say. Food poisoning seems to have hindered my generosity, among other things. The bad: Did I mention food poisoning? I stopped here for a quick breakfast mid move. After placing my order, I noticed no one handling food was wearing gloves. What the?? But I was facing a long day of hauling boxes, so against my better judgment, I went ahead and ate the bagel sandwich. Big mistake. Big. Huge. First of all, it was not tasty. I know my New York City bagels and this was nothing of the sort. I'm about the least picky eater on the planet, and I have a stomach of iron, but I ate little more than half of it. We are from NY - my Dad grew up in Brooklyn and the bagels we got reminded us of bagels from home - DAY OLD BAGELS FROM HOME. Seriously, they were NOT good. I did an Everything with Lox cream cheese. I couldn't taste the salmon. My wife's Onion with Herb and Garlic cream cheese was OK, but also NOT fresh tasting (we know they make them fresh daily, but I seriously question the batch today).
