Great place to grab a bagel for breakfast. All the bagels are fresh and chewy. It's hard to find a good whole wheat bagel that's not dry but Wholy Bagel does a good job. I recommend you tell them to go easy on the cream cheese. Otherwise, you get about an inch of cream cheese, half of which I end up scraping off. I took my kids here after we had to go to the doctor's office and man. They got just bagels with butter and jelly and they were just over the moon saying this was the best thing they've ever had in their lives. We sat and watched out the window listen to some music. It was really nice. The folks that work there also were very sweet. There was just a lot of options. Also just a lot of different smear combinations and we tried the seasonal pumpkin bagel. Wholy Bagel? More like, Holy Cream Cheese! There is only one true way to eat a bagel, and that's toasted with a mound of cream cheese on top. If you eat it like a sandwich and the cream cheese falls out you know it's done correctly. It is difficult to come across bagel shops that aren't chains like Einstein, so it's refreshing to get a chance to have a legit shop nearby. So far, I have only gotten their sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese, but their bagel sandwiches look delicious, and will be next on my list. The only "negative" (based on my 5 minutes in there) is to maybe put a door separating the kitchen from the dining/order area. I moved to Austin from NY about 5 years ago and am only now doing my research on where to get good bagels. I know I know, but I'm a breakfast taco girl now so this important research got put on the back-burner. I agree with some of my fellow NYers that they're definitely not as big as in NY but they are pretty thick. Honestly I don't need a NY sized bagel anyway. My go to order for bagels is either toasted with butter or toasted with egg and cheese. This time I went for egg and cheese. One single egg fried and just a slice of cheese. Like I said it is pretty thick so the egg and cheese didn't really hold up against how much bread there was. There was pepper on the egg but no salt so it left it a bit bland. The bagel could've been toasted a bit more. Coffee...needs improvement. The only coffee options are from those big thermos things you just pump out. No lattes, espressos or iced options to be found. Overall I would definitely go back because there are definitely worse options (ahem Einstein's) but there are some comparable or better options as well. read more

So disappointing, as I have heard the food is good. We went during the lunch hour and were happy to score one of the very few parking spots. Went inside with a dinging bell announcing our arrival. One employee in back who glanced our way while on his cell phone then moved where he was out of view. We perused the menu for a while, decided what we wanted, and greeted the next customer who came in with the dinging bell. I order online before work and without fail every time I ask for my bagel not toasted, they toast it. This time they gave it to me burnt. This always happens with every order. It shares a parking lot with a Starbucks and a few other businesses - and while it was busy, I was easily able to find a spot. As others have shared, this is a no frills sort of spot - a few seats indoors and outdoors, but definitely more of a takeaway spot. They seem to have a fairly good number of regulars - many who were there seemed to know the staff and the staff knew their orders well. Since the bagel was serving more as my lunch than my breakfast, I opted for something a bit more savory. I had the Sesame seed bagel (last one of the day!), toasted with the Texas loaded cream cheese. The staff described it as a loaded baked potato taste - warm and fulfilling. There's a case of cream cheese flavors - much like a gelato or ice cream display. It was a nice bagel texture and some great flavor in the cream cheese (which included bacon, cheddar, scallions, cayenne, paprika, salt and pepper). Wholy Moley..these Wholy Bagels! First, the logistics: Has outdoor seating. Skip the drip coffee, Starbucks is right around the corner. Closed on Mondays. Now, the good stuff. I'm not a New Yorker, but these are definitely larger and chewier than the average bagel found around town. I'm a big fan of the sweet and savory combos - egg bagel with blueberry cream cheese or cinnamon raisin bagel with scallion cream cheese. The Lox cream cheese is also better than the more mass produced stuff around town. Customize yourself a breakfast or lunch sandwich if you're in the mood, but when I don't want too many decisions, my go-to is the lox nova sandwich. You have to like that cold smoked salmon flavor though. read more

We recently arrived in Austin and looking for a bagel place. Located in a small plaza at the northwest hills location. While it does have seating, feels more of a pick-up and dip spot. Service was reasonable considering the flow of customers. We both had the pecan coffee. Could not make out the pecan flavor at all. (Perhaps it was brewing a while). The bagels (garlic & and everything) were good, but lacked a bit in flavor. Cream cheese was okay (could have used more) I had the scallion and the flavor really wasn't there. I had the #4. Not exactly what I was expecting. My lox and onion was scrambled into the egg. If you have experienced a bagel,schmear & lox with a nice red onion. Then you wouldn't know any better. This place has the best bagels in Austin bar none! They also have the best hand made cream cheese with flavors that are authentic and thick based, not whipped like everywhere else. The owner is from NJ and being from NY myself this is the only place that makes bagels as authentic as back home for me. I have driven over 25 miles from home to pick up both bagels and cream cheese because its just that good. The bagels outer "shell" has a crispness to it but not hard, seasoning on both sides of the bagel you just cant go wrong. When we visited in late November they were not allowing dine in, no big deal for us but just something to check on if you have a preference. Plenty of parking, good location. I got the #2 on an everything bagel vs the jalapeño cheddar. They were out of the jalapeño cheddar when I got there around 10a or so. Definitely go early in the morning to make sure that you have full access to what you might want. This bagel (not sure if it was the bagel itself, cream cheese, bacon, or whatever) was SUPER salty. And I love salt, but it was too much for me! Also got the cinnamon raisin bagel with the vegan cream cheese (forgot to take a pic) and loved it. Both two different tastes obviously, but the vegan was a great option. There's a lot of cream cheese on this one, so beware! Restaurant was somewhat small with a few dining areas, some patio outside. I tried the Nova Lox Breakfast Sandwich which came on the Everything but Bagel Bagel. I found the bagel to be a little bit on the dryer side but as a whole it was delicious. I liked the cream cheese and the gooey soft texture if gave the sandwich paired with the lox with the scrambled egg. My fiancé ordered the breakfast cheesesteak one which he gave it 5 stars. I'm not a big fan of cheesesteak in general but paired with this bagel it was pretty spot on. They had NO napkins and the hand sanitizer bottle was empty. Every table was dirty. They messed up my order and didn't apologize. They demanded I give the "bad" bagel back (bc I was scamming?) Fine with me, but just rude in how it was handled. This place should be drive-thru only. It's not a good place for interacting with staff, and sitting down to eat.
