I made the mistake of not reading the bad reviews before going here. I went with my cousin and unfortunately I had forgotten my card at home so my cousin paid for me. We were placed in our own private rooms and my masseuse seemed to not understand what knots were. She would feel the knots and just ignore them. It was more of a rub than a massage. I was awkwardly waiting for it to just end because I felt rude just walking out in the middle. She also ended up placing sooo much pressure on my lower back. And not massage pressure but placing all her weight on me. My lower back was in so much pain the next morning when I woke up. I left with more pain than when I arrived. Another strange this was the amount of times she used her elbows on me and would dig them into my skin. It was so painful and honestly did nothing for my back. She then did A LOT of odd stretches on me. At one point she lifted my legs in the air. And the last thing was that she used the same towel on my back, feet, and then placed the cold wet towel on my face. AFTER IT HAD BEEN ON MY FEET. Disgusting. Anyways, when I was done I started walking out and thought I'd wait in the car for my cousin. I had no cash so I couldn't tip for that terribly painful weird massage. As I was walking out the owner and the masseuse called me back in. They insisted I leave a tip. I told them I forgot my cash so my cousin had to pay for me. And then she said "well do you have your card?" I said no I didn't. And then my masseuse laughed at me and walked away. Like I was lying. Then the manager went on to tell me how hard my masseuse worked and I just wasn't going to leave a tip didn't make sense. I then waited for my cousin to come out of her room , asked to borrow cash to tip, and finally was allowed to leave. THEY LITERALLY MADE ME COME BACK INSIDE AND FORCED ME TO TIP THEM. If tipping is mandatory have a sign up. That way I can make sure I'm prepared so I'm able to leave the store and not get trapped in there. I highly recommend zen den spa in uptown Whittier. Everyone is different, some people are a little more vocal than others. It was my man & my first time trying this place on Friday March 18, 2022 at 5pm. We booked a couples massage & treated ourselves to the special package which is 90 minutes. In those 90 minutes it includes 30 minutes of foot massage & 60 minutes of Swedish massage with deep tissue & hot stones. I am giving a low review because I believe the man giving me my massage may have possibly exposed me to covid & overall wasn't a great massage. I'm saying what I stated because on the date in question which was a Friday I received negative covid results. Through my job I get covid tested 3x a week & that Friday my results were negative. By Monday March 21st my results were positive for covid! The man that massaged me kept having to pause because he'd be coughing and had to step aside to get some water. He was an older gentleman so I didn't think too much of it at the time. Of course there's that worry of covid, but I disregarded it because I showed up wearing my mask & for the first 30 minutes while getting my foot massage I wore it, but at some point when my man & I got transferred to the couples room for the body massage. HE TOOK OFF MY MASK!!!!! I did not ask for him (man that massaged me) to take off my mask, he took it upon himself to remove my mask telling me to get comfortable. I told him I wanted it on & he disregarded what I told him (or maybe he didn't understand) & put my mask in the box where 1 can place their personal belongings. The massage in itself wasn't that good. On the foot massage I felt little to no pressure & on the body I got too much pressure having to tell him to slow down. I had to tell him to be easy on my back. I won't be coming back. I suggest to this business to tell it's people to not remove other peoples face masks! If we want to wear them let us! I have drive by this location and wasn't impressed by the looks of it but decided to give it a try after my massage therapy office closed down. What's really awesome is they are open 7 days a week from 10am until 10pm and accept walk ins! When you are experiencing pain, the ability to get in for a massage the same day is priceless. I do suffer from lower back/hip pain that does not respond to chiropractic care. So I decided to visit Wi Massage on a Saturday afternoon. I was immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman at the counter who inquired about my pain and what type of pressure I would prefer in a deep tissue massage. I opted for the "hard" pressure because that's what I'd required to work out my knots. My therapist was YoYo and she was in for a workout herself. I received exactly what I needed, a very firm deep tissue massage. Beware, if you ask for hard, that is what you are going to get and it's painful at times. She followed up the massage with warm rocks, warm towels, and I paid $5.00 extra for CBD pain cream. Great choice! Do bring cash for a better price.
