Stopped by here for a quick breakfast on the way to the airport and had hopes given the other reviews! However, it fell short of expectations. First off, I will say the decor and ambience is great. Feels very cozy indoors, and the round booths are comfortable. I also appreciate that they have art available for purchase (by local artists I assume). However, be warned you will leave smelling like grease. 4 hours later and I'm still smelling it on my clothes. Would def recommend to management better ventilation if possible! Speaking of grease, I ordered a cheese & chives bagel with veggie cream cheese, and it was quite greasy (other reviewers have mentioned this about other food items). Other people I came with liked the oatmeal and green machine smoothie though. And their large coffees do come in quite large cups! We waited for maybe 10 minutes in line to order, and we received our order about 20 minutes later. I wish the scones and muffins were warmed up before they serve them; otherwise they're cold and hard. (They also forgot to give us our scone so we had to ask again). All the folks working there were really nice. And the barista was spinning out drinks pretty fast! Maybe I just had a one-off bad experience here; I would be willing to try ordering something else next time. read more

What's not to love here? Really, the drinks always hit the spot. Whether it's the Turkish coffee, a London fog, or any of their matchas, hot chocolates, or lattes, I have never in my life had anything anythingless than a stellar drink here. And the food. The food always hits. No other way to say it. Always great food. Service is very nice! The staff is always friendly and helpful! And the vibe of the restaurant is excellent! stopped here for a bite before taking the awesome Stephen King tour with S-K Tours of Maine. This is such a cute cafe, with fun decor and plenty of seating. Best of all was the London Fog tea with lavendar, which brings it over the top! We also ordered a cafe at lait, a blueberry scone which was jam packed with berries, and a vegan breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious and held us over until dinnertime. This was a great find in Bangor! read more

This place is a nice place to sit down to relax. The vibe is something you'd find in the West/East Village in NYC. The decor is great and you have an option to purchase the paintings on the wall from local artists. If you do visit Bangor, ME I do recommend to go. Now to the food and beverages... I tried their cherry blossom tea, matacha skull muffin and ate a sour dough sandwich with bacon, cheese and scrambled eggs. The tea was good and the muffin was delicious. The breakfast sandwich was advertised with scrambled eggs. They gave me over easy and the bread wasn't fully toasted. It also was greasy. Service was sooooooo slow. It wasn't even crowded but it took me 25mins to get my sandwich and by the time I did get it my tea was half gone. I was hungry at the time so I was in a rush to get my breakfast sandwich but it was a cool place to visit. If you're in a rush go elsewhere. read more

My wife and I have been here several times. Over the course of several visits, we have had really good sandwiches, and the pastries are always fresh and healthy tasting. Coffee is always on point. Staff is always very pleasant. A lot of times in coffee shops like these, the staff is offputting and arrogant, but everyone here is always nice. read more

I still adore this cute, spunky little Cafe. However Today I had to wait in line to order for about half an hour, and then I sat for over an hour with my ice coffee waiting for my eggs and toast. I waited so long my straw dissolved and got floppy, pid $3 for one slice of toast since the meals only come with 1 slice. I'm definitely just going to make a suggestion: Hire more help to place orders and maybe an additional cook. read more

A true gem. this little shop is in a very cute old school neighborhood. from the ambiance to great service this was a beautiful start to our day. We sampled a variety of the breakfast menu. the brew coffee was bold and per balanced strong but not bitter. The choco khan was delightful, the raspberry muffin got the 7 year two thumbs up ( sweet and delightful he says). I took the advice of our fantastic server and opted for the raspberry scone. This is a pretty decent coffee shop, but I think their desserts and flavored lattes are where they shine most. My wife and I stopped here before heading to Acadia NP because our hotel was out of coffee. It wasn't the best coffee shop I've been to, but it wasn't bad or not enjoyable by any means. My wife decided to order an iced latte with cinnamon maple flavor and a chocolate peanut butter cupcake and I got a pour over Sumatra coffee with peppermint and mocha syrups and a cup of tomato soup. My wife's latte was incredible. The maple notes really stood out and it was just a sweet enjoyable way to start the day. Same went for the chocolate pb cupcake. It was really well balanced, the flavors were apparent, but not super strong, just the perfect way a cupcake should taste. My pour over, on the other hand, was pretty disappointing. They unfortunately forgot the syrups in my coffee and I didn't want to navigate the maze of tables and chairs that crowded the small seating space to have them added. Instead, I threw in some sweetener my wife had in her purse and something peculiar happened. No matter how much sweetener I added and how much I stirred, the coffee still tasted the same. My theory is that it has to do with the cup they served it in. They use a really cool beer stein-looking mug that has a narrow opening and widens as it goes down towards the base. I think that because of the shape, the sweetener wasn't able to mix in with the coffee at the top. Because of this, when I got towards the bottom of the cup, it was loaded with sweetener. On top of that, there weren't any real tasting notes to the coffee, it was just kind of bland. My tomato soup was pretty good, but not entirely what I was expecting. I think that it's made to be vegan/vegetarian because it isn't finished with cream, which is totally fine but not too traditional. In terms of flavor, it was very herbaceous but I'm curious if they toast any of the herbs they use or if their tomatoes were roasted because there was a very mild burnt flavor to it coming from somewhere that both my wife and I detected. Overall, it was pretty good, though. In the end, it was fairly pleasant experience, short of a few hiccups. The staff is friendly and the space is nice, albeit quite loud. I would definitely stick to their flavored drinks but I look forward to trying their sandwiches while I'm in the area. read more

Quite simply, Wicked Brew offered some of the best coffee drinks I have had and this goes beyond Bangor. There was not bitterness in the coffee and the steamed foam was properly done. Secondly, the atmosphere is that coffee place we have all imagined. It feels homey without appearing to try too hard. This was the best coffee I've had during my visit in Maine. Americano was made perfectly & gave me the burst of energy I needed. I was excited this place had food and ordered a breakfast wrap and added bacon. The wrap was good, the flavors went well together. .however, I could not finish the wrap due to it being smothered in grease. I tried to soak it up with a napkin but it did not help much. I will definitely come back for the coffee. Not super thrilled about the food. read more

The space is adorable and cozy and eclectic. The quality of service is a middle-of-the-road mixed bag: we experienced the gamut from the staff, from a greeting to a grunt. No one was particularly friendly, but the barista who called out our drinks was unhelpful and probably shouldn't be in customer service. The coffee was okay. We had flavored lattes that didn't really taste like anything. They weren't bad. Just fine. We had a breakfast sandwich and a breakfast wrap. Both were pretty tasty, but ridiculously greasy. I like nasty tasty greasy food. This was greasier than that, like they had finished the food and literally dipped it in a bucket of oil. I don't use the word "literally" loosely. It seemed like they had literally dipped the food in grease before boxing them. And, yet somehow, the egg was dry-as-sandpaper on the wrap. I think the positive reviews are due to the fact that there aren't many coffee shops in Bangor and people are just grateful to find something that isn't Dunkin. read more

TL:DR- Safe, cozy, welcoming, queer-friendly space with good coffee :) My wife and I discovered Wicked Brew this spring, and come here every other weekend or so to grab some coffee and food to go. We love it! -There's a big Pride flag in the window and from all our interactions with the staff we can tell they MEAN it :) -The bread is baked in-house. All their sandwiches are delicious, as are the bean tacos (get the bean tacos!) -If you want something made with espresso... they know how to make it! -The space is welcoming and cozy. I do love this place. Staff is very laid back and friendly and it is really one of the only places to get good coffee in town. I also love their baked goods. One big drawback for me is the ventilation is very poor and I leave smelling very smokey/weird, even if I am only in there for a minute. I also noticed the baked goods are starting to taste like what the air smells like. Also, when it is busy they need more staff. A Sensory Review by T.S. Peterson [TL;DR: Wicked is fantastic. Leaves you smelling like a panini] In my early twenties I found myself living in Wilmington, Delaware. It's nothing to write home about (Sorry Joe Biden). It's food scene is struggling a bit (perhaps I am just a pampered Mainer), but I've got to give it to a few industrious business-folk who made an effort to brighten up the coffee scene. My work put me in coffee shops a lot, and since there were only, like, two, I had a five year love affair with LOMA Coffee (RIP. A whimpering decline, finally killed off by Covid). Loma was a lot of things - none very pertinent to this review - except one: The Smell. They've probably written whole sitcom episodes about this. If they haven't, I take the credit, bill me later. Being in LOMA meant the smell-equivalent of sticking your entire body straight into a human sized panini maker. Even five minutes in the store and the smell of...an overcooked batch of fries...stuck to your clothes for hours. Did they even have fries on the menu? No. they didn't. Something back there in the kitchen clearly had died in the Palaeolithic age 2.5 million years ago and somehow crawled into their kitchen to release it's odorous flatulence RIGHT into whatever the heck they used as a air circulation system (who are we kidding, there WAS no air circulation. I mean, you could go home, strip off your clothes, and hop in the shower and probably still smell like a panini. I knew the manager, and once tactfully attempted to approach the issue. His mumbled response either 1. confirmed that he knew there was a smell but didn't have the capacity to insert another fan/door/minimum-wage employee to spray us all with febreeze continually OR 2. confirmed that LOMA's kitchen was actually the source of the one and only portal to hell and it turns out that hell is just the devil feeding you burned panini's until your guts explode (and then feeding you your guts, burned, in a panini). If the second is true, at least hell has better ventilation than LOMA. OK, I am being a little dramatic. LOMA was great - food was delicious, nice vibe, friendly staff, good coffee. Just...that smell. It made a solid 5/5 place a 4/5 because, well, I don't like smelling like an oven roasted turkey. What's that? This isn't LOMA you're reviewing? Oh right. Wicked Brew is similarly awesome. Super cool vibe! Great place to meet a friend, get some work done, or watch the rain/sun/snow/leaves outside in their big window. Staff are lovely, a family owned business, coffee is GOOD, lots of great baked treats, made fresh, love and care in each bite - But... The Smell. I'm not even mad; It brings me back to the Wilmington days. Smelling like grilled cheese is almost nostalgic to me. But we know it shouldn't be. Something is wrong with me. my limbic system now thinks its OK to smell like that. It's not OK, Than. its not OK. Wicked Brew? Loma? Same problem, I imagine - that extra door they need between the kitchen/shop, the extra fan, whatever, can't be put in because of some zoning nonsense or governmental blah blah. At least, I will give Wicked the credit, and assume so. If I am wrong I Just hope they'll get on it! Wicked, you still get my business. But only on certain days and moods. I have yet to try you in warmer weather, where we can bank on open doors or windows to help spread out the sammwich particulate. If all Bangor coffee shops were anthropomorphised magically overnight and became my friends, Wicked Brew would absolutely be my BFF and my muse. This coffee shop is so cute and creative! Their cold brew is alright, and I haven't had any espresso drinks [yet] but what's super special is the decor and atmosphere! The 2 reasons I give it 4 Stars is: 1) because it's closed on Sundays (and Mondays)! The point of cutesy coffee shops with nice, soft music is to be able to go on a lazy weekend day and hang or get some work done, and not being open on Sundays is a major bummer! 2) if you want a classic breakfast sandwich, there are upcharges that really add up in order to get that perfect bacon/sausage egg and cheese on a bagel since the original is pretty plain and on an English muffin. Compared to other breakfast sandwiches in town, it's not the cheapest by a decent margin. read more

We went yesterday around 9am. It was busy but there was no line to order. We got a vegan breakfast sandwich on sesame bagel, a cold brew, and a dirty chia. I tried to order an oatmeal which they were all out of and the cashier didn't know. So the chef came out and offered to make me a breakfast salad. She check to see if there were any things I didn't like. The food was so good. We were really impressed. The food was just really quality and simple. The drinks were good too. They had coffee ice cubes which was a really nice touch and fresh nutmeg on the chia. The barista was really pleasant and friendly. All in all we had a really nice trip and would love to return. The atmosphere was cool, not a huge place but can accommodate a dozen or so tables of various sizes inside. read more

We were looking for a great place for breakfast before hopping back on the freeway after having an unfortunate experience at a local hotel. Found this place on yelp and we're so glad we did. My daughter and I were able to enjoy super-yummy gluten-free quick bread and bacon. My son and his daddy enjoyed a plate of eggs, breakfast potatoes, and bacon. I had the most perfect americano -- and the barista was super sweet about my particular request of the amount of water I wanted. My husband also enjoyed his cappuccino. There's a rocking horse, a chalkboard wall, and lots of games for the kids to occupy themselves. The seating includes picnic tables and booths. Both comfy and fun. I really wanted to like this cafe. The ambiance is definitely 5 stars, but the food and drinks are really disappointing. Twice now I've ordered a large latte and it's been about 1/3 liquid, 1/3 foam, 1/3 empty. Avocado toast was bland, with a measly amount of avocado on a single slice of bread you'd buy from a store bought loaf. For what you get it's really expensive and just not worth it. Unfortunately I won't be going back :( read more

When I Google this coffee shop, I saw good reviews BUT what I didn't expect was for it to be the coolest place ever. When we first walked into the shop, it is located in the historical district so already awesome. However, the inside feels magical and awesome. The menu is brilliant and the wide selection of coffee and teas were amazing. Vegan/vegetarian friendly, but DID I MENTION YOU CAN HAVE A TEA PARTY?! Like cute tea pot and China glasses.
