Absolute best stop we made on our trip to Maine! I wish I could pack this place up & take it home with me. This place was like stepping back in time to go eat breakfast at my Papaw's house. Everything about it was fantastic. We had a variety of food, blueberry pancakes, bacon, ham, home fries, hash, eggs, homemade toast & jelly- it was all spot on & just what we needed before the long trip home! I had eggs, bacon (which I asked for burnt well) , and a homemade biscuit with their homemade raspberry jam, the biscuit and jam were the star of the breakfast show. The bacon only had 1 edible piece. I also split a raspberry coconut muffin grilled with my hubs and that was spectacular, an explosion of soft flavor. We would get baked goods to go next time. I am LIVING for this tiny, unassuming cafe. Wow! The place is tiny on the outside on a heavily (for Maine) traffic'd road. Plenty of parking and nicely plowed in the winter. The coffee is good and frequently refilled. Everything from the biscuit and breads to the jam is house made. Omg, the rye toast was incredible and so light. Eggs were scrambled beautifully, and the corned beef hash was both crispy and soft, and definitely not a salty mess. It's no wonder the place is always packed during tourist season. He had the regular and added home fries and I had the Irish Benedict served with corned beef hash. The Hollandaise is just right, not salty or too lemony or cheesy. Yes, other places I've reviewed and one had cheese in their hollandaise. Huh? This is a busy place and quaint, but we were seated fairly quickly. Go here with my grandparents, have a blast of a time. Me and my grandpe like to joke around and laugh. With me and my Nana we like to do word scrambles and so on. I get laughing whenever my Nana yells my grandpe's name. She shouts "STEVEN." I get laughing at that. Not to mention that the food is delicious. It is always a fun time. This is a great little cafe. We came on a Sunday morning on our way to Prince Edward Island. We ordered coffee which was served with real half and half (what a concept!). We ordered lemon with our ice water and each received two large slices. For breakfast, I had an egg over easy with sausage links and white toast. The egg was cooked perfectly. The sausage was the best we've had in years. The toast was homemade, hot and buttery, and served with homemade strawberry jam. My husband had the breakfast croissant with ham, cheese, and an egg. It was also delicious. Our bill was under $20, including tip (again, what a concept!). The staff was smiling, friendly, and very helpful. They have their own parking lot with plenty of spaces. It was a nice break from some of the more touristy spots we visited in Maine. We both got the breakfast combo #2, which was 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, and home fries. I would suggest adding onions and peppers to the home fries, I didn't and I regret not adding them for the additional 50 cents. Enjoyed our late breakfast here today. My omelet was very good. Had their homemade raisin bread and bought a loaf to take home. Our server and others were attentive. We observed there was a completely female staff this morning. We love supporting local women owned businesses. The seating was very comfortable and the restaurant and bathroom were both clean which we appreciated. When we posted on fb, our friends quickly asked where the cafe was located. If you woke up to your grandparents making you breakfast, is the feeling I get here. This local eatery delivers a homemade style breakfast. Its not gourmet but you get what you ask for and it fills you up. The must have, is their homemade jam. The toast is thick and hearty. The jam is the main event, their jam. Service and homemade items are still out of this world and it's and it's a great diner atmosphere but a few things that really crimped the visit. 1) parking. It's always been bad but it's grating after all these years. 2) Servings are small. Breakfast served on like 7" plates leaving no room to move anything around. On our way back from a show at the Civic Center and looking for an off the beaten path breakfast joint. Looked good on Yelp and quaint when we got seated, but it wasn't good. Service was slow, for basic pancakes and eggs, and the food came out in waves. Pancakes were mealy/grainy and the meal overall was very unimpressive. Not sure I've had greasier bacon. And I like grease. I'm a good American. Waitress wasn't unpleasant but certainly not pleasant. None of finished our food and we got a quick stop muffin elsewhere on the road, Dunkin' I think. We were really hankering for Eggs Benedict and we saw online that this place had them. My partner and I were a little apprehensive because we know what 'breakfast places' (read greasy spoons) in this area can be like. Outside, we saw a very cute kid being shouted at by what we presumed to be his very coarse-seeming grandmother. We told each other "If either of us gets bad vibes, we're walking right out again". We're getting better at this these days. We walked in, saw the clientele giving us creepy stares, saw the staff (all of whom looked really gruff and harsh, like people whose natural habitat would be horking down cigarettes in front of a convenience store), saw the kitchen next to the entrance (which didn't even look like it was set up to be a full kitchen) and walked out the other door. It felt like a really creepy scene in a David Lynch movie, and we weren't prepared to see where it would go. A couple of lesbians can't even find a nice place to have brunch? Does everything in this area have to be seedy and mean and gross? We ended up going to Denny's where we ran into multiple LGBT people working there and had a lovely breakfast. read more

first time ever eating at this local restaurant figured we'd give it a try we did not, however dine in. we actually got takeout. My review probably would have been higher. How do we dined and to engage in the full experience of this local café style diner as far as the product "food" it was really good the homemade hollandaise sauce along with the homemade hash was really delicious. my wife adds that her breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes was also very good and my son had a rap.
