How fun! You enter through what looks like a very small liquor store - then enter the bar through a secret door. Definitely a vibe and we were totally into it. This place was great. We sat at the bar and felt well taken care of. Just tell the guy in the front that you'd like to have a drink in the back when you get inside. If there's room, he will open a hidden door to the speakeasy. It's dark, well decorated, sort of low, darker music which is modern but fits well with the ambiance. Menu is divided into pre-prohibition, prohibition era and post prohibition era cocktails. We tried 5 cocktails over the course of two hours and they were all great. Be patient, sometimes you have to wait for another drink but they take their time here with the craft cocktails and it's worth it. I definitely recommend what the bartender called the "choose your own adventure" cocktail. They'll ask you several questions and then create something for you- they hit it on the head for us and it was awesome. Have fun! read more

First time seeing a cool speakeasy disguised as a fully-functioning liquor store. You can legit stop in and peruse quality liquor at this place.. or stay a little longer and be allowed into a dark, cozy cocktail bar with interesting drinks to keep you busy throughout the night. My buddy got some sort of cocktail that was filtered through a winding glass tube (interesting and entertaining concept) and I got their Hibiki Japanese whiskey. Rude staff, overpriced drinks. We were there last night and when we asked how long the wait would be for a table for 5, the door man said that he was unable to give me a time because he can't see the future and has no way of knowing how long people will take at their tables. He didn't tell us how many people were waiting ahead or anything. Pretentious prick. The drinks were no better than anywhere else in Omaha, the bar is small and dark, and the pricetag is outrageous. Omaha, what a treat! First things first, you have to do a little "work" to get into the bar itself. If they tell you it's full, the key is to wait! Liquor store guy aka keeper of entry inside, said he couldn't tell us how long it would take to get in, so we went outside since the store is on the small side. Mistakes were made, as another group of people went inside and didn't come out, so when we went back into the store, they had been seated, we had to keep waiting. With that said - soooo worth the wait. It's a very small, dark and cozy bar. They feature mostly classic cocktails (some of my favorites are the pre-prohibition ones!). Seating is small, low to ground tables, or seats at the bar. This is somewhere you come to have a couple carefully crafted drinks (which, yes, can be costly) and take your time and enjoy. This is not somewhere you come to just live best drinking life like it's any other bar, and I get the impression that some people who were disappointed with their experience were perhaps expecting something closer to that. If I found myself in Omaha again, I'd definitely make a stop here. read more

This place is truly unique. Walking into the little Looking Glass liquor store you'd never guess what's hidden behind the wall. After making some sweet talk with the cashier and trying some samples of liquor I asked about the Wicked Rabbit. At which time he got out of his chair and opened a latch that released the shelf and guided us in. Walking in it's dark and you have to give your eyes some time to adjust. The lighting is just enough to see with a modern design twist on a speakeasy concept again it's very unique. We sat at the far end of the bar and were provided with drink menus. There are no prices on the menu, but expect a simple handmade cocktail to cost around $12-14. I had two ounces of absinthe, with the sugar cube water drip and all and it was $18. The benefit to sitting towards the far end of the bar was that it seemed to be the spot for drink mixing and making. We were in awe that they mixed, stirred, and shook the drinks in front of us. Cool place but pretty dark inside. I went in to check out the whiskey selection and see what the place was all about. the bartender was crushing it on the cocktails... they looked awesome and smelled even better. The whiskey selection is pretty good, probably 70 or so bottles ranging from buffalo trace to pappy van winkle and other high end scotches. I ended up with a glass of Garrison Brothers ($17). I hadn't had it before but the bartender had a little story with it and knew some info about it. It was a good young whiskey, no complaints. Overall a cool place for a drink with a small group.. but i was by myself and in and out pretty quick. read more

My rating is based on multiple visits. When they first opened up I was eager to get in and check it out. I was told there was a password, then it was you just had to ask, then it was something else. When I came in I spent 20 minutes trying to play the game of getting into the back room. After a bartender opened the wall and then went back in I asked "that looked fun...whats that?" and the response I got was "storage". Confused I left without getting in. *I wasn't sure if this was someone who was "hard lining" the entry protocol or if she just thought I wasn't worthy of entry...but that experience has stuck with me. The other time I've been there I knew the door man who was able to get me a table. The interior was what I was hoping for and the drinks were amazing. Because they're craft drinks done to the highest level, we knew they would take time to prepare. After 2 drinks we decided waiting for a 3rd was kind of anti climatic and left. The concept and the drinks are awesome. If you're used to dive bars and miller high life, you won't like it here. If you're someone who geeks out about highly crafted drinks you'll love it here. read more

Edit: Many people have told me that I'm wrong about this place and just got unlucky and had a bad experience. So I'm going to give it another shot sometime and update this review at some point. The following is my original review: I went to Wicked Rabbit after some friends told me about it. It's definitely the kind of place you tell others about after you go to it. It was a Friday and the wait was about 45 minutes of standing in the front room, a facade for the bar that is also a functioning liquor store. They had tasters of whiskey available while waiting for a seat to open up. Eventually the wall opened up and we followed the cashier into the bar. We sat down in a ridiculously dark room--the lighting is low enough that you cannot read the menus without the candles on the tables or light from your phone. There's "dark to get a certain vibe" and then there's "I literally cannot read this menu" dark. Unfortunately this is the later. We were still excited for the experience at this point, despite waiting so long. And the cocktail menu is really exciting! A wide range of all kinds of drinks, to the point that it's impossible to tell what they are best at. I ordered a Saigon Sling and my girlfriend ordered one of their fruity cocktails too. Both drinks were made with a heavy pour (which is good), but the ratio of everything in them seemed way off, because both drinks were quite bad and hers had lots of undissolved powder at the bottom of her drink, making for a disappointing gritty cocktail. I do not recommend coming here--it was overpriced, drinks weren't c and the vibe of the bar was really strange (dark room and pop music like at any bar). read more

Super cool place. Finding a sophisticated bar hidden behind a secret door is always a good time in my book. Wicked Rabbit is a perfect spot to go to when you're downtown but want to avoid the crowds in the Old Market on a Saturday night. It's dark, calm and comfortable here. The bartenders are top notch and are up to the challenge of making you that perfect cocktail. I do like the Wicked Rabbit for a few reasons. The speakeasy concept is done better than most places I've been. If you truly knew that the Wicked Rabbit did not exist, you probably would not venture into the 'legitimate' business out front. It's more appropriate for bums looking for some cheap booze and cigarettes. Another feature is the one way in, one way out. This adds to the 'secretive' nature of a speakeasy. Once inside the Rabbit, you notice the decor. It's done well and exudes a luxurious feel. I don't like spoilers so I will not describe it - you and your group should enjoy this pleasant surprise at least once. The drink menu showcases the bartenders' craft skills. Updated to grant that final star! The new menu is here and it's beautiful! Another great cocktail bar for Omaha, lucky us! Wicked Rabbit is a sleek, sexy new speakeasy complete with secret entrance. The ambiance is definitely classy, but I get the feeling that it's not intended to be stuffy at all. You can come have a good time here, without feeling the need to stay in your seat. It's intimate as far as space goes- room for 40 or 50 maybe? There's a different feel depending on the night, with Fridays and Saturdays being the most lively. It's a beautiful space to look at (think black, gold, glass, and deep purple with soft lighting). I love it. I'm withholding my final star hoping the drink menu is expanded and gets more interesting in the coming new year. Tucked away behind The Looking Glass off Harney Street, Wicked Rabbit is a fun place to grab a drink or two. The whole idea of entering through a secret door is right up my alley, but it looses its luster after two or three visits. They don't take reservations and they don't allow lot of people in at once. I came here on a Friday night and was told that for two people, the wait was 1.5 hours. My date and I said no problem, we'd put our name on the list and we'd come back, but were told we'd lose our spot in line if we left. There was no way we were going to stand in a small liquor store for 1.5 hours just to get in, so we left. Apparently other people felt differently though -- there were 4 or 5 people standing and waiting to be let in. Once you DO finally get inside, it's a pretty cool space. Dimly lit and hung with mirrors, it reminded me of something out of the 70's. I'm also pretty sure the walls were lined with velvet. The drinks are fun and unique, but pricey. I think each one costs $13, so expect to shell out some money if you stay around for more than a couple of drinks. The drinks are pretty good though and fun to watch being made. The drink menu is a fun old book, and the bartenders take it pretty seriously. Definitely a fun place to start a night out! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a secret hideaway to be enjoyed with fellow Yelpers. Omaha has opened my spirits to a new world of flavorful whiskeys and cocktails. My favorite was the hidden door opened by a push of the Wicked Rabbit. On the outside it seems to be a liquor store but inside awaits a tiny room for a comfortable chat and warming libation. I really wanted to like this place because, secret door, speakeasy, and owned by the same people as berry and rye. Unfortunately, the execution was not nearly as good as the intent. The drinks are great and theres a nice ambiance, however the drinks will run you about $13 a cocktail. The biggest issue i have with this bar is that if someone in your group is late, even if you have space saved at your table for them, they absolutely will not let your other friends in to sit with you, and will make them wait for other patrons to leave before they will let them in, even though you have the space for them at your table. I've been to the top cocktail bars in the country and this one is up there. Last time I was in Omaha I couldn't find it! And it's because it's a speakeasy, luckily this time I was staying at the Hotel Deco next door and they gave me the inside scoop. There is tight yet comfortable seating at the bar and some tables in the back. It's fancy yet low key and the music is amazing. The cocktail menu is exactly what you'd expect for a decent cocktail culture, in a good way. No drink on the menu is too over stylized and they hit all the classics. I ordered a daiquiri off menu because that to me is the true test of a bartender knows what they're doing. And this hot punk babe made me a perfect daiquiri. However, for a speak easy where your waiting to get in, I was expecting some signature drinks with creativity. I could have gotten the liquor myself and made my own old fashioned or Manhattans at home. follow-up: I just got an comment from someone who I think may be owner. Got in around 7:30pm on a Friday night with no problem, but an hour later it was full & there was a wait. Enter into the 'Looking Glass' liquor store and smoke shop next to the Deco Hotel on Harney, across from Orpheum. Liquor store is small but very cool. Show the attendant your ID. On the back wall, which you are facing when you walk thru the front door, you will find a bottle towards the lower left with a rabbit. Push the bottle backwards to open the door. The bar fills up fast and is beautiful. We sat in the back area, which is dark and cool. (Lil too dark, had to use phone light to read drink menu, which is uniquely awesome but pricey so be prepared.) There is no food here and the drinks are strong so eat first (or make it a short visit and then go have dinner @ Wilson & Washburn on Harney-1/2 blk down the street.). Unknowingly, we found ourselves in what seems to be the trendiest bar in Nebraska. With a speakeasy disguise, enter at the Looking Glass Spirits shop to the left of the Hotel Deco. (Perhaps secret aliases like Looking Glass are common in Omaha since WWII when a French beach used the code name of "Omaha" for the D-day invasion?) Looking Glass references "Alice in Wonderland", but then should the bar be called White Rabbit instead of Wicked Rabbit? The drinks were fine and the selection of high-end spirits admirable, but the upscale atmosphere was marred by misguided patrons where more filtering was needed at the door. It's not cool to come in drunkenly solo and unintelligibly sigh about your troubles causing the staff to have side conversations about what to do with him. Then there was the doofus wearing a cheesy baseball cap who got sloshed while drinking beer straight from the bottle next to his paid escort. 11ish on a Friday night after a Broadway show, we decided to stick with a 'Wicked' theme. There was a wait to get in, about 30 minutes with no guarantees, but the doorman and staff in the bar itself were on the ball about getting the spaces cleared out and more people through the door. Our waitress was very attentive to the needs/shouts of the patrons in her area. She provided a brief education to my wife on when the proper time to mix the burning sugar cube into the drink would be. The drinks were pretty, tasted good and were not outrageously priced for this type of venue. It is fun and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area for that, but it was not a mind-blowing transcendent experience.
