    Canuck Classic
    Arlene S.

I came here for breakfast where you order inside the restaurant and food will be served to where you're eating. I ordered Canuck Classic, Egg BLT Baguette, Berry Blaster Smoothie, and Velvet Grizzly. The Velvet Grizzly was 6 oz of espresso with steam cream and white chocolate. It was pretty bitter and I couldn't taste the white chocolate at all, which I had to add sugar to the drink. The egg BLT baguette was delicious and definitely a huge portion. The Canuck Classic was okay, the potatoes were undercooked and not crispy on the outer layer. The berry blaster was delicious and I love the combination of berries with pineapple juice. They have patio seating and are pet friendly, which I will recommend if you're in the area with your dog as not many restaurants are pet friendly.

Came for breakfast on June 24 and they are open for dine in. Hours are 7 to 5 everyday at posted on Yelp. There are both indoor and patio seating, but it was raining on the day I came so only indoor seating was available. Since the cafe is located a little outside Jasper proper, there was plenty of street parking, and the inside dining area was quite spacious as well. The menu was a little bit more limited than the menu pictures I saw previously posted on Yelp. There were no omelets or skillets available, for example. I wasn't super hungry, so I opted for the Canuck Platter ($13.50) which is your basic breakfast platter with eggs, your choice of protein, potatoes, and toast. The sausage was really soft and tender and my favorite part of the meal. The eggs were soft scrambled the way I like but were quite bland, as were the potatoes. I would've preferred a little bit more salt. My friends went with the veggie breakfast burrito ($14.25) and thought it was just okay as well. There was a lot of lettuce inside (unexpected especially because it wasn't in the description) and no hash browns (which were in the description), so he didn't get what he was expecting or wanted.

Breakfast here is very good. Breakfast burrito didn't get the raves the pancakes did, but it was a solid effort. The pancakes, especially with a side of two eggs (that somehow became three when delivered by the waitstaff) and bacon didn't knock it out of the park either, but something about them, while eaten outside on the patio on a summer morning, was just about right. Hot chocolate wasn't bad either. Of all the meals had on this trip to Jasper, this one was definitely the best one.

It's an awesome place to go! Good quality foods and fantastic customer service. Love the latte coffee. Highly recommend BLT Salmon and Salmon sandwich! You will not disappointed! However, the Maligne Lodge is horrible experience! Don't stay with Maligne Lodge trust me! It's an Freaking Motel! Very dirty and disgusting place!

This was further from the main restaurants and I was beginning to turn back but so glad I didn't. The pancakes were delish and the salmon baguette was also very good, although I couldn't eat it all and now I get to have it for lunch. Note, it's order at the counter but they bring out your food and water. Drip coffee is very good and it's self serve.

Cute little place in downtown Jasper. There is a small shop inside with a good collection of artistic items. Loved the vibe and service. It has great outdoor patio with views of mountains. I loved this place so much that decided to go there both the days. Within our group we tried cafe mocha, cappuccino, rooibos latte, tea, pancakes, parfait, sandwiches... honestly everything was delicious. Would highly recommend of you are visiting Jasper.

Came here for breakfast while in Jasper (since our hotel, Tonquin inn, doesn't do complimentary breakfast). Nice cozy place to warm up especially since it was really chilly outside. This is a rather large breakfast place attached to a hotel. And for good reason, this place by 9am was packed with about 40-50 people!! Felt bad for out waitress. Working ALL the tables, getting their orders, topping off their coffee, bringing the bill, chatting it up with guests, and still having a smile on her face. Just commendable. We ordered their famous pancakes as well as their salmon bagel and their organic coffee. The pancakes were a good size, came with a stack of 3 with a side of berry compote, whipped cream and syrup. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Berry compte added a different flavor to it. Overall it was really good. Salmon bagel was good too. Salmon slices were large and really fresh. My only knock is the coffee. Their coffee was so light. It was almost tasteless... only thing it was good for was that it was hot. You would think a breakfast place would have better coffee. But besides the coffee, everything was really good. Customer service was solid. Food tasted great. A nice little breakfast place here in Jasper.

After 7 days from Calgary to Jasper and back I can confidently say this meal was the best meal we had the entire trip. The drinks, the apps, the entrees, and the desserts were all a hit. Our waitress described everything in such great detail and honestly sold us on trying things we may not have otherwise. We had the Alberta Antipasto skewers and loved them! For our entrees we had Truffle and Pulled Pork Tagliatelle and Bison short ribs...yum! Just when you think it couldn't get any better here came dessert. We had the Baklava Cheesecake and Pineapple Coconut Tiramisu. Now the cheesecake was an item making a return to the menu and it was delicious, however for us the pineapple coconut tiramisu was the star of the show. Those flavors shouldn't go together but when I say that was the best dessert we've had all year I mean it. Can't wait to visit again when we are back in town. I see why it's so highly recommended.

I'm huge fan of Negronis so when I saw "Spicy Negroni" it was must try. It was very nice and a great twist to a Negroni, I must admit I'm a purist and will go back to my traditional Negronis in the future. The Mussels were steamed in white wine, cream, shallots, mushrooms and fresh herbs and served warm pita. They were fresh and flavorful, perfectly seasoned and served in a rich broth that begged to be soaked up with pita bread. Entree selected as the Lemon Sesame Schnitzel, it was a pork loin breaded with lemon zest, sesame seeds and ground crispy rice then fried. This was served with potato salad made with new potato chunks mixed with chorizo and green onion aioli, this was atop some arugula (could have left off the arugula). Black sesame seeds were a great ingredient to the breading giving in unique flavor. The schnitzel was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, every bite was a delight! Service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend The Raven for anyone looking for top-notch food and a cozy, welcoming vibe.

Maligne Distilling Pub at 604 Connaught Drive, Jasper…read more At the start of my two-day stay in Jasper, after checking into the Crimson Jasper Hotel, I headed down the main thoroughfare looking for a late lunch. Five minutes away I found just the thing: the Maligne Distilling pub at 604 Connaught Drive; it was outstanding. Maligne Distillers (pronounced as mah-leen) are, according to its website, "independent malt whisky-makers - both a distiller and blender in the sole service of creating exciting, innovative, world-class whisky. As a small-batch distiller we produce essential whiskies that are the vital essence of our expressions. Maturing for a minimum of 5 years, these highly-flavoured whiskies are the character actors on our whisky stage. We then blend those with an ensemble cast of blending whiskies - some we distill, and others from renowned Canadian distilleries." Upon my arrival, the first and main floor of the pub was gearing up for an afternoon FIFA World Cup match on the big screens. Hoping to avoid that level of excitement, Ellie at the host stand suggested the second-floor balcony, with its view of the rail station up close and the mountains in the background. The small flower-filled balcony catches the mid-afternoon sun perfectly in July, making this a memorable meal to be sure, based on location and scenic views alone. Wheelchair accessible; kids are welcome until 10 pm daily. The menu, too, was memorable for its diversity and the local scope of entrees and sides. There's pub food, to be sure, with snacks that include smoked chicken wings (brined, smoked, then tossed in citrus whisky or Thai chili glaze, served with fresh vegetables and ranch, $20CAD), pan fried perogies (potato, cheddar, onion, brown butter, bacon, sour cream, $16CAD), popcorn (dill pickle, cheddar, dill, $8CAD), and smoked pork belly bites (maple mustard glaze, green onion, $14CAD). The dinner menu was similarly impressive, with regional and local dishes that include elk Milanese (breaded elk cutlet sautéed with mushrooms, whisky, butter, Saskatoon berries, served with buttered mash potato and arugula, toasted almond salad, $46CAD), Alberta ribeye (14 oz, herb-smashed potato, grilled broccolini, maître d'butter, $65CAD), vegan beetroot Wellington (herb smashed potato, seasonal vegetables, red wine reduction, $30CAD), and bolognese alla tagliatelle (Alberta bison and beef, roasted garlic tomato ragu, parmesan, fine herbs, served with garlic toast, $32CAD). Looking for a light lunch and the chance to sample Canada's whiskies, I ordered a draft of the local The Bear beer ($9.75) and a four-shot (.75 oz. each) flight called Coast to Coast Whiskies. The flight ($44CAD) offered four small-batch crafted Canadian whiskies: Shelter Point Ripple Rock (BC, 46% alc./vol.), Ninety 20-year Highwood (Alberta 45% alc./vol.), Lot 40 Dark Oak, (Ontario 48% alc./vol.), and Glen Breton Ice 10 yr. (Nova Scotia 43% alc./vol.). Smooth as silk, and Ellie showed me how the use of distilled water and an eyedropper permit you to customize the experience. For my meal I chose the smoked chicken club (pulled smoked chicken, bacon, Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato, peppercorn aioli, toasted sourdough $24CAD). Fresh and filling, this was an excellent choice. Seating was spacious and scenic, the balcony was quiet (contrasting the enthusiastic crowd watching the FIFA match down on the first floor), and the restroom was clean. Great food, excellent whisky, and local craft beer. This, plus the view, plus the pub environment, offer much to recommend - a thoroughly great meal in the heart of Jasper.
