Wickliffe Country Place is part of Legacy Health Services https://lhshealth.com/ a FOR-PROFIT facility, not affiliated to OH hospitals. They use contracted medical staff that don't know patients' medical history. Meals were worse than school lunches; tiny amounts, loaded with carbs, not to dietary/nutritional requirements and lukewarm temp, at best. Our friend was placed there after surgery to recover and resume independent living. He suffered physical pain that was repeatedly ignored, lost a severe % of muscle mass and became malnourished. Even at his worst, they demanded monthly out-of-pocket costs of $10,000 ($350/day) UP-FRONT. A reputable facility will bill you or your insurance. The only positive mention here is some of the caring staff who did their best in spite of their burden of being understaffed. Family member was in this facility due to having a stroke. Their staff is not professional. A bunch of overworked uncaring aides work the front desk in the wards. Patients look like the hospital patients from "one flew over the coo coo nest" read more

I have a friend there now and they don't know what pills they are giving you, so obviously these can't be nurses. Must have aids working under a nurses license putting patients life at risk. Food is not even edible and if you don't like it you don't get fed. More like a prison. You will walk out worse then how you walked in. Sad, they have no care for people just money. Owner writes on review an automated reply to all review but does not address the issues. Look at the years on review. It's a saga of issues being repeated year after year. Need to be shut down. Everything is being documented by a group of us patients as we are all experiencing for way to long. It's time to seek legal advise. Someone needs to protect our human rights. All patients are being discriminated. Good reviews must be friends and family . We all know how that works. Total joke! Love your family and don't put them through this misery. Rehab an injury that was a long and painful process and frustratingly slow. The therapists were the best. They were all excellent and I highly recommend them. I was there for 5 weeks and the rest of the facility was not as good the food was low quality with no fresh fruit and and a few times unrecognizable as to what it was. The nurses were stretched really thin and hard to figure out. I know some just did not like when you hit the call button and I had to figure out how to get along with them. read more

Resided there January 2019. My first time in a facility like this and I pray I never have to return. I'll say this: the staff for the most part is very nice. I did not have a bad experience in that regard. My complaint....and it's a huge one is that they were extremely negligent with my medication. Either I was nit getting what I was supposed to or they were trying to give me meds I'm not prescribed. Thankfully i am someone who knows what my pills are supposed to look like!!!! When I questioned the nurses about it, pretty much got an "oops" response. OOPS??!?!???...wow. That happened more than once by the way. read more

My 94 year old mother was transferred to Wickliffe Country Place, which was in Covid lockdown, from Lake West hospital for rehabilitation for 3 broken ribs from a fall a few days before. Over five days later, she was moved from this horrible facility to Promedica Willoughby (formerly Heartland of Willoughby). What she endured at Wickliffe Country Place is like a page out of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The first night there, the night aides on staff, who had been loudly partying at 3am, manhandled her in shifting her around. Unable to move from her bed, she was left in unchanged undergarments for up to 6 hours at a time in spite of begging to be changed. Her Tylenol pain relief was only administered twice a day, although she pleaded to receive it more often. Every meal was served cold, was awful, and was not nutritious. She did not have her teeth brushed until the day she left. Her rehabilitation was irregular. And when she was finally ready to leave by ambulance to Promedica Willoughby, her paperwork was not properly prepared and the ambulance finally gave up and left. She called me almost in tears saying that she was in pain, was left sitting in a wheelchair for over an hour with no footrests, and had no success in getting help or information as to what her transfer status was. She was of course afraid to complain after the rough handling she had received. She was finally transferred, but not until she was thoroughly traumatized. She certainly is old but her mind is 100% intact, and her only other pain medication was a lidocaine patch near her broken ribs, so she was not drug-affected, and at no time did she seem confused, only frightened, angry, frustrated, and afraid to complain. Thankfully, her care at Promedica has been professional, the rehabilitation excellent, and she has made accelerated progress since being transferred. Wickliffe Country Place should be investigated. It is every elderly parent's children's worst nightmare. read more

Avoid at all costs. My crotchety dad had spine surgery this year and after he was discharged from the hospital, he was sent to Wickliffe Country Place to recover. I would have had him sent elsewhere but his insurance didn't cover any of the nicer facilities in the area. Like anyone recovering from a major operation, he wasn't in the best spirits, needed a lot of help, and was in a lot of pain. The first few days during his stay, he had a roommate who refused to close the windows (in February) and was verbally abusive to the staff. My dad was in some pretty severe pain and pressed his call button for hours without getting any attention. He wasn't given his daily meds on a regular schedule and he didn't receive his pain medication. I called and complained and got him moved to a private room which helped a little, but he was neglected for the remainder of his one month stay. The main highlight of his stay included having a nurse injure his prostate while inserting a catheter (the nursing home claimed this happened after a trip to the ER but ER documents show this happened at the nursing home). After this incident, they wouldn't let my dad clean up/shower because it "wasn't his day to shower." That meant he sat in dried blood for a few days. Also notable was the lack of communication with me, his only family member, having to bring him his own medicine from home because the nursing staff kept forgetting to give him his medicine (things like thyroid and heart meds - essentials!), and the fact that they kept ignoring his dietary restrictions forcing me to have to bring in food for him. (had he been out of it, he could have been in serious trouble if he'd eaten what they provided) I'm thankful that my dad is verbal and coherent and was able to let me know about how he was being mistreated. I'd be afraid to see what would happen to a patient who couldn't complain, voice their concerns, or let family know what's going on. read more
