The building itself is always clean, homey and well-decorated (non-institutional). Much thought has been given to creating a pleasant experience for visitors and residents alike. Garden areas are wonderful during spring, summer and fall for walks, bird watching, gardening. There are plenty of events, celebrations to meet various interests/abilities. They have just built a new addition which was handled in such a creative, thoughtful way -- residents' lives remained normal and calm despite construction. Plus, it is beautiful! Most important, I am thrilled with the level of care, concern and genuine affection/compassion the staff provides and exhibits toward my mother, as well as the other residents. Patience, understanding, creativity and sense of family are very evident whether a resident's family member is present or not. Nurses and caregivers have gone out of their way to meet my mother's needs and mine as well -- so I'd don't need to guess how she is doing. They share anecdotes of what she's said or done during the day; if she's happy, sad; ate well/or not so well; was up all night or slept well -- without my asking. This is very important to me as her primary caregiver. They are truly extensions of me and do it better than I ever could at this point in her journey. We are both blessed to have found such a wonderful place for her to live.

People are friendly and the food is very good with plenty of variety. Services are what I was looking for with lots of activities available if you wish to participate. The one complaint I have is that the dinner hour here is planned too early. However, all in all, this Ohio Living adult Independent Living experience is all I was told it would be.

I never once saw a glass of water, I had drinks brought to me, the one drink offered was coffee but the bitched and moaned about refilling a 5 ounce glass. I mean really a child drinks more than that in a juice boxes each day. A sippy cup was larger than this cup.... I was also told by this lady that was older than father time to shut up and quit complaining she futher explained that I wasn't a priority because they had more than me too take care of and with that she slammed the door and refused to answer the the buzzer. I couldn't even get out of bed without assistance so I had to sit there and take it.... The next day I was allowed to get in my wheelchair so i wheeled myself out to get my own coffee and once there the day nurse said she would get it and all of the sudden the old nurse there asking what I was doing SO I SAID getting the coffee that you don't have time to get in a loud voice!!! Then all of the sudden I was the center of attention and they at the nurses' station began to ask who I was SO I SAID it's me Marie (said my whole name) and if you have a problem I am in room 218 you can COME HERE if you got a problem and slammed the door behind me, like it was slammed the day before!!!! I had a visitor and she knew one of the workers a nurse, she actually said are you here to get her (meaning ME) I am so sick of her SHIT... I wished I could get out of bed and would have showed her what I was about, but my friend calmed me down... this is the worst place I could imagine any one too be. My guy across the hall fell 10 times and they wouldn't respond to his buzzer so I started turn mine on so they would answer 2 lights and they couldn't be at the ready because they were watching more than one section at a time and doing laundry... Once they even came in whilst I was sleeping and yelled my name out because they said they thought I was dead because I took my sleep medications, so they started a joke saying I was the dead lady... Really all went through wont begin to cover this review..... JUST KNOW THAT YOU SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE PUTTING ANYONE THAT YOU LOVE IN THIS FACILITY THEY ARE TOTALLY other INCAPABLE.... There was 2 highlights was there were some staff that knew there job, 1 nurse on the morning staff just 1, the nurses on second shift helped more than day shift other than that there was no reason for me too stay so I tried to call my PCP but because they were UH my PCP couldn't help but I had to get out of this shitty place... SO i threatened bodily harm and I was finally after 2 days of saying it I was released home on the 3rd day, with nothing no walker no wheelchair for home. THANK GOD for Cleveland Clinic my PCP jumped in both feet and got me all that I needed and a nurse, home Physical Therapy... I will NEVER make this mistake again IN LIFE!!!!! JUST DON"T IS MY RECCOMMENDATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The corporate owned facilities are in it for the money, not the residents care and safety. They work with a minimum amount of staff, so they can make top dollar. Please educate yourself on long term corporate care. They promise you everything you want to hear, but it's all a lie. We learned this the hard way, unfortunately. Our family member lost their life in less than one day in a facility Mary Molnar and her staff recommended. When I spoke with her on the phone after our loved ones passing, she was cold and protected the facility. Shame on her, she is a devil in disguise that lies. Karma will come for you, Mary. Please keep your loved ones home with home health care if possible, or at a family owned, or non-profit facility if needed. Our elderly population deserves better. Please visit these facilities, at night, on weekends, Holidays, ask for State Inspection reports etc. We are heartbroken. I will fight until the end to keep the elderly safe and out of corporate owned facilities and away from companies like Senior Care Authority that promote these companies for the money.

Hillcrest was, as usual, top notch. Discharged to physical therapy only bed open was Montefiore. There is no direct chain of command at Montefiore. There are a good many contract workers there. My mother was there for the PT and OT to get her up and walking so she could return home. COORDINATION OF CARE IS A DISASTER - Day one PT picked her up for PT and she had not been given her pain medication first - SO I HAD TO LEAVE WORK, GO THERE FIND OUT WHO THOUGHT SHE COULD HAVE PT WITH A PAIN SCORE OF 10 WITHOUT MEDICATION. I THEN HAD TO COORDINATE WITH THE FLOOR NURSE AND PT AN OT TO COME UP WITH A COMMON SENSE SCHEDULE AND PUT IT ON MY MOM'S WALL SO THAT SHE KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT. Day two they forgot about giving her breakfast so by the time she got out of PT and OT it was 1:30 and she was weak from hunger I HAD TO LEAVE WORK TO GO THERE AND GET HER SOMETHING TO EAT.... there is much more and I have had to go there EVERY DAY and TAKE TIME OFF WORK for something or another - TODAY we are on day 8, she was supposed to have showers on Wednesdays and Sundays she still has not had one....TODAY at 9:45 the nurse told my mother she was out of pain medication and needed another order from the Nurse Practitioner, Mary, MARY was nowhere to be found. They took my mother to PT and OT but of course she couldn't do any work - I HAD TO LEAVE WORK AND GO THERE TO FIND OUT WHY on day 6 they did not go and find out if my mother would need more pain medication so that she could have good CONTINUATION OF CARE. I waited for 75 minutes for NP Mary, our floor nurse said MARY was aware of the situation and would get to my mother. MY MOTHER HAD ALREADY MISSED HER PT and OT because she was unable to do them without her pain medication. OUT OF FRUSTRATION I went to the front office and found a woman named JENNA who tracked down the NP, got a paper order, and brought it to the nurse so she could dispense the medication 11:40 at this time - then I HAD TO GO TO PT and try to coordinate a PT and OT time in the afternoon when the medication was still giving her enough relief to go through the exercises but not too late, as the effects would wear off. They said they would tell her a time in the afternoon that they would come and get her for PT and OT. I THEN LEFT BECAUSE I HAD TO GO TO WORK I WAS 4 HOURS LATE ALREADY - as of this writing at 1:48 the NP still has not gone to my mother's room. She might have thought, well I gave the paper order for more pain medication BUT SHE SHOULD HAVE GONE TO CHECK AND SEE IF THERE WERE ANY OTHER ISSUES - AND SHE DID NOT. I come from a family of physicians. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH POOR COORDINATION OF CARE AND CHAIN OF COMMAND. UNREASONABLE AND OUTRAGEOUS. I will go over the Medicare billing with a fine tooth comb, I will report medicare fraud if I find it.
