Having been raised by a jack-of-all-trades father, I'm normally able to figure out lighting problems myself, having rewired lights, hung new pendants, switched out more than my fair share of electrical outlets, etc. But when it came to hanging a new dining room light with a dimmer switch, I was stuck. For some reason, everything I tried didn't work, and the wiring was all messed up. So I broke down and hired a professional, and boy was I glad I found Brian. He was fast, efficient, really nice and did the job in just over an hour, but he only charged me the special hourly rate he has going on Yelp right now. Prompted by a power break to my detached garage, I hired Wickman Electric. This, after a previous electrician could not find the cause. Brian did and solved it quickly in a professional manner. Pleased with his performance, I also increased the scope of work to site lighting and wiring of a detached studio. Brian impressed me with his electrical knowledge and he came up with some great solutions for the site lighting. You should know that I have over 40 years in managing commercial construction projects where I've work with a lot of industry professionals. As a note, this is an unsolicited review. I have had companies offer discounts, etc for Yelp reviews and facebook posts... but that is not the case with Wickman. I only mention this because I'm sometimes wary of businesses with 100% 5-star ratings... but in this case, Brian and his team deserve every 5-Star rating they get. Wickman Electric installed an 80A subpanel in my garage, so I could run 220v circuits to some heavy machinery. This was no small task, as there iss considerable distance from the power hookup to the garage (think opposite corners of a cube, if the cube was a two story house). Brian and Jared were creative problem solvers and walked through options. They developed a more efficient and less invasive method of getting power to the garage than two other companies that looked at the problem. Easy decision. These guys are punctual, professional, and courteous. Little things like removing shoes without being asked... and double checking where I wanted outlets and panels installed. I upgraded to a 220V washer/ dryer system typically used in Europe. Although a bit unorthodox, Brian was quick to decide what components needed to be changed to fit our system. . Also, he added a 220v breaker, ran it behind my cabinets to where the washer now resides. He did a lot of great work in short period of time. highly recommended. read more

I couldn't be happier with Brian's work. We bought a new dishwasher that, once installed, kept tripping the breaker. I called six electricians in the area and Brian was the first to respond, spoke to me himself (not a scheduler) and gave some ideas for troubleshooting before he came. I heard back later from the others I'd called and none could come faster and all charged more. I found out later that Wickman Electric's low overhead is why it's a better value. Brian arrived on time, did thoughtful detective work to find the problem (an odd patch of chicken wire in the wall from previous owners had damaged the wire), and fixed it quickly. While he was at it, he noticed that the screws were loose in our panel and tightened them up as well. One of the better contractors I've found in this area, and we've worked with a lot. Very competent, courteous, cleans up after himself (so rare) and most importantly, his work actually fixes the issue you hired him for (so many times we've had to re-do work ourselves or hire someone else to do it if we can't after we pay someone here). Only issue, like every other good contractor here, it can be hard to get in touch with him and schedule work to be done. But I think that is just the way it is and if you are lucky enough to find a competent contractor in this region you just have to keep calling. read more

What can I say? All the other reviews are correct. Brian did an awesome job. He moved circuits between sub panels and installed a manual transfer switch. The work was done well and he did a bunch of other "tidying up" type jobs on the panels, which leaves them in a more organized state than before. No surprise he books out quickly, but well worth the lead time! read more

Our basement bathroom lost all power - not good - at the same time my neighbor's were having electrical work done. The husband walked over and asked the electrician if he could stop by and take a look. Amazing service! I emailed Brian yesterday and he was over at my house by noon today. I rent out my townhome so I wasn't able to be there for the actual appointment but Brian was very easy to communicate with and he immediately billed me via email afterwards. SO nice to be able to landlord from afar! He went above and beyond by checking out other light fixtures within the house that the tenant had questions about and sent me links to the appropriate light bulbs to fix them. The job could not have gone more smoothly. Brian installed a 220 line and fixed a non-functioning 110. He researched our issue before he came to give a bid. I can't imagine finding anyone more flexible and able. He got done ahead of schedule, as well, and did a great job putting my yard back together. (The job required digging a ditch.
