Just because I am hair challenged (by the way, I can still grow a full head of hair on top, just don't have a lot of it) does not mean I cannot recognize a great business when I see one and even recommend this salon to others. Sandra and April are the co-owners of this salon and they will have their official grand opening on the beginning of February. They relocated to this studio in the Mandarin Plaza in Chinatown recently, retaining all their clientele from the previous Silver Lake location. Both are very experienced, highly rated hair stylists and make-up artists with a large client base that include celebrities and high profile public figures. They continue to get much praise, support and recommendations for their great work. One of their ardent supporters and loyal clients is a friend of mine. On a personal level, I find both ladies to be very warm, friendly and engaging. They love what they do and it shows. I have never had a better experience at a hair salon. I went in for haircut with April a few months back. April was so attentive and listened to my ideas and translated that into the perfect haircut. She was knowledgeable about hair care and gave me lots of helpful tips about products and styling. My hair looked amazing and it complemented me better than any haircut I've ever received. I've went to this salon a couple of times now. And honestly, the first time was the best as Sandra was able to get the color I've been wanting. The next two visits, however, were unfortunate as Sandra 1) cut my hair too much and couldn't achieve the long layers that I've wanted.. and 2) she did not bleach my hair as light as I've wanted and she did not put in the dye afterwards. Also, she rushed the job and allowed me to walk out with wet hair as there was another client. I've paid over $200 for each visit, and the service was crap. Overall, a waste of money and I suggest you go to another professional salon that's willing to take their time and put in the effort. read more

I got my haircut here, and I was quite excited to get layers added. I explained how I wanted (keep length, no shag, and how I like the volume I have in my hair) and also explained that my hair isn't thick. This is also my first time letting my hair grow out and now I had to go to a different salon to get it short. I wanted layered cut, and she over thinned my hair. She went through the razor each section she cut. I felt it more as a shag. Not even the styling helped my hair. I thought maybe the products was too heavy so I went home and washed my hair.. sadly it was just too thinned out. I ended cutting it shorter so it can at least feel volume on my hair. I've been going to April for the past 5 years (since she was at Fandango in Silverlake) and she's so great about getting you the cut, color, and style/look you want. Now that I'm a regular I hardly have to say much of anything when I come in - she just remembers and knows what to do, and I always come out feeling stellar! She also never tries to upsell products and is super down to earth and realistic with you about your hair care routine and what's best for you depending on how much you want to put into it. She's also just a hilarious, kind, and all around amazing lady. I cannot say enough positive things about Daniella and the amazing hairstylist that she is. She totally listened to what I wanted, looked at pictures with me, and TOOK HER TIME. Do you know how rare that is? Like she cut it to one length and I told her that I probably wanted it shorter so she said, "Well let's see how you feel after I cut the layers into this length" and when she was done I still wanted to go shorter so she went back and repeated the whole painstaking process to a shorter length that I wanted. Hands down one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I went to April for a trim on my long very thick hair, sort of last minute. I e-mailed expecting a long wait but she responded immediately and was able to squeeze me in that night. She was so cool and she did an amazing job, quickly, too! On Daniella's recommendation, I recently got a Brazilian Blowout to tame my frizzy and dull looking hair. My natural​ hair is quite difficult to manage, I basically can't step out of my house without styling it. I wanted something more manageable for the summer so I could go to the beach without having to worry about my poofy frizzy hair. Honestly, at first I was a bit skeptical about the treatment​ because I thought just like every other protein treatments, this was also going to weigh down my thin, fine hair. However, Daniella told me the treatment can be customized as per your liking (which is amazing) and assured me that I will still have volume in my hair after the treatment.
