She took me from medium dark reddish brown to blond in 2019, blond/light brown ombre in 2021, red in 2023, and honey blond in 2025. I had an appointment with Ashley for what I thought would be just a trim, but she truly took her time and was incredibly thoughtful throughout the entire appointment. My hair is naturally very curly, but I also wear it straight often, which means it needs more than a standard haircut and Ashley completely understood that. I've gotten a few haircuts here - the first was good, the second was okay, and the third was incredibly subpar. The stylists have all been very kind, but I have very long hair and I feel that with my two most recent cuts, the stylists didn't really know how to work with my length. In particular, my most recent stylist (Elizabeth) was not realistic with what she could do for me. This most recent cut butchered my hair, I could even tell SHE didn't like the result when she was done, she was almost even apologetic because she knew it looked nothing like what I asked for. My resulting cut did not look well blended at all, there was a very blunt divide in my layers which was not at all what I asked for. I wish she had the foresight to know that would happen with my length and what I had asked for. That's what I come to the salon for - stylist expertise. The cuts are very pricey - I come here because I love supporting a Latina business but I think they have missed the mark when it comes to cutting and styling my hip length, straight hair. Additionally, when I got my most recent cut, I called and *specifically* asked for someone that could work with very long hair. I chatted with Elizabeth and specified the type of cut I wanted. At my appointment, she makes a comment about being "afraid to cut long hair" (which I understand, people with long hair tend to care about their length a lot) - but why did I specifically ask for a stylist who is skilled with long hair and have my stylist essentially saying she's not very confident with long hair? I'm incredibly disappointed. My hair was butchered and I'm so upset I paid $140 for something worse than I've gotten at supercuts. Elizabeth absolutely missed the mark with my cut. Aside from it just looking bad, she was like 20 minutes late to my appointment and was rushing me at the end to squeeze in last minute nail appointment (I overheard, it's not a big salon lol) At the end of my cut, Elizabeth did offer to adjust anything I didn't like if I came back but I'm seriously afraid to let her touch my hair again. I will not be coming back here, and if you also have very long hair, I would urge you to go elsewhere. read more

She was so sweet and she made my bestie look absolutely gorgeous. The high ratings of this place made me choose it over other local nail salons. I'm high maintenance when it comes to my food, hair, and nails. I have long natural nails and baby them the best I can. I'll just list the pros and cons. Pros: - They seem to have same day availability. I made an appointment and called to see if anything opened up for the same day, and there was an opening. - The salon is clean. - The staff are friendly and personable. They also all speak English. - They have a great selection of Shellac products. - They have a lot of CND products in general for your manicure/pedicure. - They have displays of design ideas for your Shellac experience. - They offer refreshments. - They offer to fix their mistakes for free. Cons: - They push the Shellac - The Shellac designs are executed beautiful at first, then flaws emerge (pigments dissappear from edges two days later somehow). - Shellac application doesn't stay/has issues. After two days one nail started to peel and another had a bubble (see photos uploaded for reference). I didn't do dishes or any strenuous activities. - Normal polish application is iffy and they seem unprepared for it (no normal dryers besides uv ones). - My cuticle was nicked and went unmentioned even when I went back for the fix and normal polish. - I was told about lumps appearing in long nails while having lumpy polish work applied. I know my nails are smooth with the exception of a gel fix on one. Overall the ladies here seem like sweethearts and are probably really great with hair, and short nails. But for long natural nails, I'm okay continuing to shop around for LA nail salons. $47 was just a bit too steep for what my nails went through. *My manicure and both polish applications were by Ashley. read more

I was long overdue for a haircut and looking to try a new place and happily came across Beauty Box in Echo Park. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment at 3:30 p.m., was warmly greeted by the staff and didn't have to wait. My new hairstylist, Lydia, was friendly, asked several questions to determine the right cut for my lifestyle and hair type and gave some expert suggestions to make my hair looks its best. She told me about the assorted products she used on my hair- they carry a beautifully packaged, natural brand called R&Co- then deftly cut soft layers and cleaned up the ends. I love that the cut is just what I wanted and will be easy to maintain. The salon also does nails, but is well-ventilated and I didn't smell even a hint of polish or chemical fumes during my visit. Free parking was easy to find just up the street right on Sunset Blvd. and they have a small lot in the strip mall where they are located. I recently got my hair cut and colored by Dina as my normal hair stylist, Ashley, is on maternity leave (Congrats!) Dina has done a phenomenal job doing my shellac mani and pedis and this is the first I have had her do my hair. I had asked for a different look with my bangs with an overall layered look along with the same color that Ashley has done on my hair in the past. They have my hair color info saved on their internal computer system. Dina did a great job and I have been receiving multiple complements as to how much younger I look and how great my hair cut came out. Overall, every time I come to this salon, I feel like I am hanging out with my girlfriends and we are all catching up. I see these gals work hard and have fun while making me, their customer, feel the best I can be. A new thing they are doing is proactively booking followup appointments ahead of time which helps keep me on track before I let my roots grow out. Not only is the vibe in the salon reminiscent of a casual hang out with friends, but the ladies all go out of their way for the client; doesn't matter who's client it is. Before coming in, Vanessa collaborated with me on what would be best for my Afro Latin medium length hair which is currently dark. In order to go lighter, we would start in phases as the stark transition would take a few attempts or at least we both thought. All i can say is transformative is an understatement. Vanessa literally manage to strike gold on her first attempt. When I say gold, I mean it both literally and figuratively. Just look at those beautiful caramel locks! I'll let the before and after pictures speak for themselves. I have never been this emotional in a good way about my hair. The color looked so good i forgot that i needed to be styled. I came here for a haircut for the first time two weeks ago, after my cousin recommended this spot. Parking: There is a small lot with one or two designated Beauty Box spots. There is also metered street parking. I recommend coming 5-10 minutes earlier to make sure you find a parking spot in time for your appointment. Service: Lydia was super prompt, which for me was a nice change compared to my old place. I had some pictures for her for what I was looking for, but also shared with her my struggles as someone with wavy/frizzy, really thick hair. She knew just what to do. This is a little hair salon situated next to a chinese supermarket and some chic little businesses. Yes, chic is the word to use when you're inside. It's bright but comfortable, and the girls are really nice and accommodating. I've had my ombre since 2011... long before L'Oreal decided to market ombre coloring in a box (schmeh). If you don't want a botched hair color, find Lydia and she'll do her magic on you. I've only been getting my ombre retouched by Lydia. She colored my hair three times already, and I always love how my hair looks whenever I leave this place. I don't know what she did or how she does it, but I love that my hair is not brassy especially since my hair is really dark. I also really like that Lydia will chat you up while you're getting your hair done. It usually takes about two hours for the whole ombre process to be done, so it's nice that she's so personable and will keep you entertained. I mean can you imagine sitting for two hours in total silence. I'd fall asleep. I've recommended her to everyone and my mom. My mom really loves her hair color. It's a little expensive here, but it's the price you pay for awesome hair. The only bad thing I can say about this place is their teeny parking that they share with other establishments. They have one parking spot for them :(. There's metered parking right in front for two hours, but I'd rather park in a parking spot. read more

I came here for a gel manicure, and it was the worst I've ever gotten. I hesitated to write a negative review because everyone was so nice. But it took 2 hours for a manicure, and it's so uneven and there was shellac all over my fingers. It would've taken longer, but I asked her to stop trimming my cuticles because I had somewhere to be and she already made me bleed once. I was losing my mind she was so slow and inexperienced. But she was kind, so I hate writing this. Then when I checked out it was ridiculously expensive. $55 if I remember correctly. For the worst manicure of my life. It's a rare sight to see a business with a solid five stars out of a plethora of reviews. I knew I had to check the place out, especially since $47 (!!!) for a haircut is totally within my budget. I had Erica (I think! I'm horrible with names, sorry) who smooth talked me into getting an additional conditioning treatment that I was agreeing to before I realized what was happening. I'd like to chalk it up to my tiredness since I normally don't bite add ons like that, but she is one slick talker! And now my hair is super silky smooth so I suppose it wasn't a horrible decision. What was awesome was that they were able to immediately fill me in for an eyebrow wax as I asked halfway through my appointment. I don't recommend trying to find a spot in their parking lot. It's teeny tiny and shared with a few other businesses.
