I love this place; for its jalapeno poppers You can get them in 6, 12, and 20 pack. I go there so much for these; the one guy that works recognized me in another store. They have open air seating but refuse to allow you to sit at them. So dumb, they have it blocked off with caution tape. This is just ridiculous safety precaution for Covid. Outside seating is not risky and I refused to spend any more money here. read more

Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but one of my (many) guilty pleasures is some Wienerschnitzel, especially for late night food after some late night fun. I sometimes skip checking in here because hey, let's face it, you don't always want your die hard foodie friends to know that you're sneaking around, stuffing your face full of delectable Wieners, chili slathered all over your face, instead of wining & dining at some fancy, Michelin Star restaurant. If I could, I would slather their yummy chili on everything. I've contemplated working here for a week to learn their chili recipe, just to make it at home. Chili cheese fries... chicken schnitzel sandwiches... chili burgers, chili dogs, corn dogs... can you tell I really like their chili? Wienerschnitzel (originally Der Wienerschnitzel) is a chain of fast food hot dog restaurants that started in California in 1961. They are mostly found in the western US including Texas. I started eating these hot dogs in the 60s in Houston when I was a kid. This particular restaurant looks like one of the older ones. It's a large A-frame building with a mustard colored roof and a drive thru lane right through the middle of it. Those were the days, man. The newer ones don't look like that. There are five DW's around the Corpus Christi area. I stop at this one because it's on my usual route - to/from Padre Island. If you're heading to the beach, stop on the way. The food. I'm a fan of the original chili dog. I like the dog flavor, not bland like most fast food hot dogs. The chili has a unique flavor as well. I get chili dogs with mustard and onions. At most DWs - including this one and the one in San Marcos, TX you can get 5 chili dogs for $5. That's hard to beat at any fast food place for anything this good! The buns are soft and tasty too. They have other types of hot dogs, Chicago, Polish sausage, as well as burgers and sandwiches. This particular spot has outside tables and a drive thru only. The employees are really friendly every time I visit this particular location too - smiling, wishing me a good day, etc. You put all that together and you're in dog heaven baby! read more

If you're on a salt-restricted diet (i.e. if you have high blood pressure) as I do...this is a hard place to justify anymore. But if you want to cheat once in a great while...like I will allow MAYBE once a month...this is a real hot dog treat. The chilli cheese dog has more salt than anyone with HBP is allowed to have...and you're gonna want fries with that. Enough about the salt...it's got a ton of it. Fast before or after...drink a lot of water...whatever. The hot dogs are delicious, the fries are always tasty and the drive-thru time is usually pretty perky at this location. The dog I got tonight was spot on. I've come to this location for FORTY YEARS! I even applied to work here 40 years ago...got another job before they called back. I don't really like eating at the outside seating as the birds know they can cop some fries from you. It's not gourmet, people. It's a hot dog stand and the food is great for a drive-thru location. I'm tickled that I'm actually reviewing a fast food joint but if you've never experieinced the magic that is the derWienerschnitzel chili cheese hotdog or chilifries or a simple corn dog, you simply have not lived. This location was in my childhood neighborhood and I can't believe it's still there. After 35 years (at least), this must be something! This place is outdoor only or drive thru and it's open late. If you're on a road trip to the beach, stop by when you get to Corpus -- it's off SPID. Take the Carroll Lane exit. It's on the corner and you will like it. read more

We stopped here not realizing it was fastfood, til we got here. The cheeseburger was so delicious it never made it to the photo shoot (hahaha). Any other time I would rate this place a 3, but they have great customer service. The food was delicious and they have great "group" deals. If you want fastfood fare, treat yourself to some delicious greasiness. read more

Grew up loving Wienerschnitzel and as we were traveling through Texas with our RV we thought we'd stop for lunch. They have a pretty big parking lot so we pulled in and parked in front of a large utility truck. We walked up to the window to place our order, during our order placing we were asked if that was our RV. We said yes and that we were getting our order to go. By the time we were finished placing our order the manager had once again made a comment about our RV and told us we HAD to move to a vacant lot behind them. Very irritated, we moved to the vacant lot that was actually smaller than their parking lot and had vehicles in it. They brought us our food without a smile and because of the steepness of the driveway, we scraped our spare tire holder on the back of our RV that it bent it and we now have to replace it! So, to all the RV travelers, I highly suggest you bypass this location because they are clearly NOT RV FRIENDLY! read more
