I stopped by Wienerschnitzel and this one definitely has more of that quick, in-and-out Midtown feel compared to other locations. This was more of a grab-and-go kind of stop, and it hit exactly what I needed in the moment. I didn't even have to think about my order. Chili cheese fries, add onions. Always!! There's just something about opening that container and getting that mix of warm chili, melted cheese, and that little bite from the onions. It's messy in the best way and always hits the craving and I love they always include a fork. This location feels very Midtown. The inside dining area is pretty small, nothing like the larger setups you'll find in Elk Grove, so it's not really a sit and hang out kind of place. It's more grab your food and go. The drive-thru was super busy when I went, and the parking lot is on the smaller side, so you might have to circle around the block if there are a lot of cars. That said, even with the line, it moved fast, which I appreciated. Everything came out exactly how I ordered it and quick, which is really all you want from a stop like this. Helpful tip: Add onions to the chili cheese fries, and if you're coming during a busy time, be prepared for a tight parking lot but a fast-moving line. If you've grown up anywhere near Chicago, you will get a craving for a Chicago hot dog every so often and it must be obeyed. I was so excited when I saw that Wienerschnitzel had a Chicago style hot dog. The only other place I know that has one is Chicago Fire. While they closed the Elk Grove location, midtown has the only local restaurant and it's a sit down place. The last time I had been to a Wienerschnitzel was in Colton, CA (SoCal) and it was so exquisitely horrible it's taken me twenty years to go back. So with some trepidation I ordered the hot dog in question requesting an upgrade to premium all-beef hot dog. For $6.99 I was impressed. It had everything needed for a legitimate on point "dragged through the garden" Chicago dog: mustard (never ketchup!), tomatoes, sweet relish, raw chopped onion, dill pickle spear, sport peppers, and a sprinkle of celery salt. The only thing missing was a poppyseed bun, but I'm not complaining. It looked good but it tasted even better. Win. I liked the mild flavor of the hot dog (not garlicky, greasy or excessively smoky). I also ordered a chocolate dipped Tasty freeze cone (such a delicious treat that I had at had in years) for $ 2.99 and an order of fish and chips as it was Friday. The fish and chips were meh (too greasy) but I ate a few fries. I definitely know where I can get my Chicago style hot dog now! And I might need to go back to check out the chili dog. I've been to this location a few times. Their drive in line can get confusing as there are two different ways to enter. I usually only get ice cream from here. Their corn dogs are good too. The fries are okay. I got a hat here for my friend for Christmas and she loved it! read more

Every once in a while I get a craving for corn dogs and chili dogs, and that's when I go to Wienerschnitzel. This location is on a corner on Broadway. Accessible small little shop with a drive thru and limited parking. I ordered a corn dog, chili cheese dog, French fries and a sprite. The corn dog and chili cheese dog were very good! Crispy, not salty, and hot. My only complaint about these is how small they are. As for the fries, these were just horrible. Bland, not crispy and I couldn't even eat them. Ended up tossing them. Overall, I'll be back, but next time I'll skip on the fries. read more

They have a gentleman who is concerned about customer service, he ask workers to take care of the walk in customer, but they were short of hand because the one was helping the drive thur. Hello supervisors and bosses just wanted to let you guys know I went to this Wienerschnitzel and it was amazing. The clerk or the clerks were very friendly. They greeted me when we walked in will be with you in the second. They took care of the drive-through and then they helped us just like they were supposed to Server. Jose was very friendly very nice. Very happy. I had a beautiful smile to his face and was nice to talk to was explaining to me the deals. It was so good. I decided to get to he gave us napkins and everything just the little things matter. I went somewhere else where I was treated, not not fairly and I didn't like it Supposed to work together and not against each other. It's crazy, but I just wanted to let you guys know let him know. On 5/12/2025 we ordered our food via drive thru. The staff on shift were very friendly, received our order very quickly without any issues. However later after eating, we started experiencing upset stomach and symptoms of food poisoning. First time this ever occurred after getting food from this location but is definitely a health concern since the entire family got sick after eating. read more

I don't eat hotdogs frequently. Eating only one hotdog or sometimes twice a month out of a pack I buy at the store makes me waste food. So when I am in the mood I just decide to go here. Hits the spot everytime with lemonade and I haven't had any issues with my orders or the employees so far. I do have to complain about pricing for certain items. When I got to the window I was charged for someone else's order. they refunded my card but when I got home the junkyard dog was just a plain hot dog. Wienerschnitzel could be a gem but the products often dont match the prices but today i seen they posted a fairly good deal two chili cheese dogs and a chilli cheese fry for 6 bucks so I order it and the female worker says "no drink?" I told her no and briefly questioned myself if she had attitude come to find out her and the guy making the food are discussing about forcing people to buy drinks when they order the meal all while I can hear them. If someone asked me to describe this restaurant in one word, I would say mediocre. Everything I tried tasted likes something from the freezer section of the grocery store. The corn dogs have a crispy coating but are kind of small and very ordinary hot dog in the middle. The chili cheese fries have a decent amount of cheese and chili on top but the fries are always pale looking. Not that they aren't crisp but they remind me of frozen fries from the grocery store. The staff is alright and prepared my order quickly. The building is old and small inside. There's just nothing exciting or memorable about this place. read more

I saw a banner outside that they started serving veggie dogs. I then started hearing from people about this. So just to verify it's Plant-basedness, I checked with the internet! I read what was and wasn't vegan at Wienershnitzel on World of Vegan. She says to ask for no butter on the buns. This girl taking my order knows nothing about buttering buns. The veggie dogs are Field Roast brand. There's 3 options-- one had cheese but you can omit that or not have it at all. World of Vegan says the fries are fried in lard. It was a post from early 2021 so not sure if it's still valid but I didn't bother asking since butter was already a confusion. I just stuck with the 2 vegan dog options: BBQ Veggie and Chicago Veggie. I liked them but not at $4.99/each. But if I ever find myself at a Wienershnitzel, it's nice to have options. read more

All my years on Gods green earth I never thought I'd be saying all this. I was blown away at this. Pull up, place looks stinky and expectations are low. Hop in the d-thru roll down that window and BAM the worker was absolutely vibes. Evenings already made, what's next? The Misses gets the cotton candy dipped cone, fries, and the mustard dog, for myself was the burger and chili dog. First things first gotta take a stab at the cone and holy toledo this was the best executed desert I have ever been apart of. Cotton candy tastes like you're takin a soak in the mixture at the candy factory, ice cream delectable. Mustard dog tasted so much like hot dog I thought I was bein punked, if you're lookin for the textbook "this tastes like hot dog" hot dog look no further. Burger was fine, not their forte and it could've been far worse. Fries were absolutely excellent, they almost tasted like if McDonald's made their fries without the intention of killing you. By this of course I mean nice salting light but tangible crisp and a pillowy center you'd tell your coworkers about. Finally, chili dog. Wow. Haven't been to W since I was a kid, but went while in a hurry & ordered a Junkyard. It was pretty delicious. Came back for another and the one thing I noticed is that place needs cleaning - the work area by the drive through. Pretty gross. Then I had to use my bank card & by that I was forced to enter my PiN. Oh my the keypad she put in my face. No effort to wipe it but because of this, I'll start wearing my gloves at any drive through. I probably won't go back to eat until I know that place has been inspected by the state. But I may drive through to see if they are paying attention to these posts & cleaning it up. read more

Employees do not wear gloves when handling food. This would be more acceptable if they washed their hands between touching the cash register and handling hotdog buns. Another thing to note, the booths aren't cleaned often. The employees seem nice but the business needs to invest in food safety. read more

First off, who doesn't love the Schnitz?? I just moved to west Sacramento and the only one on this side is closed down (sounds like a franchise opp to me), so I found the nearest one; this one. After a short jaunt I found myself pulling into the familiar red and yellow hallowed building of hot dogs. Of course during the pandemic, only the drive through is open. No prob.
