My hair has started to grow out, so she gave it a little trim, i tried on some wigs she had, and I brought her a wig that I had that needed to be cut/styled. I am 72 and have lost probably about 95% of my hair due to a trip hit from genetics, Hashimoto's, and menopause. I was so tired of my hair looking thin and stringy, so I thought I would check out a hairpiece. I went to a couple of different salons, but no one really "clicked" with me. Then, I found Barbara. She immediately put me at ease, answered all my questions, educated me as to my choices, and just generally put up with me. I am not such an easy person to deal with, but Barbara handled me with aplomb. We discussed human vs synthetic, and I wanted to try synthetic first to see how much I would actually wear the hairpiece before splurging on human hair. I am happy with the synthetic, but synthetic doesn't do too well around heat (like cooking over a stove!) and it frazzles on the ends faster, so I will probably get a human one at some point. I walked in interested in a wig, but she suggested a topper. I still have long hair (below shoulder length) and am not ready to go short yet. Barbara says , long grey hair is not that easily found--most older women want shorter hair, but she managed to find one. The first grey color she recommended had a little too much brown in it for my taste (she said my hair still has a fair amount of brown), but one of the swatches she showed me more silvery, and I went with that one. I was so happy with the color when it arrived. She layered it a bit around my face, and it looks so natural. My hair is white on top but is streaked with a little brown, more so underneath, but it looks fine under the topper, as many people have darker hair underneath. I get compliments every time I wear the topper. My friends and family all love it. She warned me the ends would get frazzled no matter how careful I was and that I would be in before too long for a trim. And, of course, she was right. I will be making an appointment soon for a trim. And, probably, will be purchasing a wig, as well! You just can't find a better hairpiece consultant than Barbara! read more

My mom Carmel is going through chemo and losing her hair quickly, which is a very traumatic experience. She found Barbara and we visited her yesterday. My mom was, understandably, a bit apprehensive for the appointment but as soon as we walked in Barbara was warm and welcoming and kind, putting us both at ease immediately. Barbara is a true professional. She really knows her stuff and she also knows how to make cancer patients feel more human and normal. She helped my mom pick out the perfect wig and she even cut the wig to tailor it perfectly to my mom so it was exactly what she wanted. My mom walked out of there with some pep in her step and feeling like herself for the first time since she started treatment. This is a long review--my apologies -- Barbara is fantastic and she deserves heaps of praise. If one is shopping for a wig or hair topper, as I was, then one is meeting her when feeling very vulnerable. Everyone​ comes to Barbara with a different story as to why they need a hairpiece​​e, but I am convinecd that everyone leaves feeling as if they were her most valuable client and she was their best friend. Here's​ my story. I had recently switched from a long-time colorist to a new (to me) salon and colorist. After I told the new colorist that I had to have oil-based organic color and explicitly​ stated that I could not tolerate ammonia, hydrogen peroxide​, etc., she proceeded to use ​harsh chemical hair color and, within a couple of days, I was losing​ fist-fulls of hair, developing bald patches, and shedding like a scared cat. I saw my dermatologist who prescribed a steroid gel but advised that it would be a long road to regrowth​ if regrowth was possible due to the damage. I researched hair toppers, as I had some hair left (maybe 50%), but ordering online was overwhelming--too many options and measuring​, ​color matching, etc., made getting the best piece to make it look as if I had my own hair back seem impossible. Then, I read about Barbara Cameron. I made an appointment for a consultation, explained my woes to her, and felt as if she had lifted a burden from my shoulders. She spent fifteen minutes​ or so explaining all the different color process options and what each one did to the hair and cuticle. That was invaluable. No one, even the most experienced and expensive colorists has ever spent that kind of time educating me. She looked at my hair, bald patches, and explained my options. She listened to my concerns and assessed how easily I would be able to adapt to the hair topper lifestyle​. Barbara could have sold me a human hair topper. I was eager to try one, but she talked me into a lovely synthetic one because she was confident that if I gave my natural hair a break from coloring and heat styling that I would be able to grow back most of the hair I had loss, although it would take a year or so. Even though the synthetic topper would likely not hold up that long, it would give me an opportunity to see how I liked it and whether I wanted to go with short hair (my hair is below shoulder​ length) as my hair grew in or switch to another topper. I ordered a topper that perfectly suited my needs and matched my hair color. Barbara spent an hour with me teaching me how to wear it, care for it, and style it. She even trimmed my split ends at no charge so that my hair would have the best chance of growing in healthy. It was like hanging out with a great good friend and discussing concerns, hopes, and possibilities. I left wearing the hair topper, which Barbara had trimmed to frame around my face and mimic how I had worn my hair before the disastrous​ color incident, and carrying a kit with the stand, shampoo, conditioner, detangler, instructions, and a wide-tooth​ comb. I was walking on air! No more​ hiding under sun hats or baseball caps. Best of all, I saw my sister-in-law, whom I'd seen a couple of months earlier, and she didn't say a word. She would have made some comment if she suspected something. That's proof that barbara did a magnificent​ job of trimming the hairpiece to look as if it were my natural hair and frame my face perfectly. read more

I looked at Yelp reviews and from these, I decided to try Barbara's salon. This was a moment of total vulnerability in my life and truthfully I was scared. Barbara's knowledge of wigs and hair, in general, is impeccable and she has many skills. She also currently has the latest information relating to her field. I found the perfect wig and the color match to my own hair was perfect. It looks natural, not like the old days of realizing that someone is wearing a wig. I have had a wonderful first time wig experience with the assistance of Barbara Cameron. I was not knowledgeable but I had a need for a wig due to hair loss for medical reasons and I was very nervous. Barbara is extremely knowledgeable, flexible, helpful and skilled at her business. Before I met Barb, I had purchased a wig elsewhere but wasn't happy with the way it looked. Barb immediately saw that it hadn't been cut well (I'm being kind here) and she set upon improving it. After about a week I still wasn't happy and she agreed to tweak it for me.
