I love this place! I recently was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, anemia, and a bit of Jaundice which cause almost 80-90% of my hair loss. So pretty much going bald. I was devastated and honestly felt like losing hope. Then I looked around online to see what are all the options that people who are going bald would do or go to. I saw that many people either let it be or of course, get some Wigs! Being alive for 32 years, I never wouldve thought that I would be wearing wig. So I did some more research and came across Wig Factory. I honestly was really unsure if I could trust the place because I know NOTHING about wigs. So anyways, my BF told me to just give this place a try since it's only 3-4 mins away from my house. I went in about 4:30, and they are so helpful right away. The shop was very clean and the lady was so sweet. I was scared to take off my hat because I didn't want to scare her and also was very embarrassed. She right away, said not to worry. So I chose the hair style I wanted and she got it on me right away. Very gentle and very calming for me. I fell inlove with it right away. So I got a couple more stuff and all came out to 300! Which was not bad at all! Since Ill be wearing it for months! Anyways, I want to thank them for making me smile again and have confidence to go out and meet my family and friends. They have great selection of wigs for those who are doing chemotherapy, it's a bit pricey ($100-$300+) but the quality of the wig is fantastic. However those fantastic wigs are out of our budget, but we still found great selections that fits our budget ($40-$60). By the way to those who love to wear faux lashes like MOI, they definitely have tons of different lashes ($2.50). I was shocked when I read the 1 Star ratings. This Store underwent an ownership change and the new owner, Doug has great customer service skills. He doesn't charge a fee for trying on wigs. It was our first time going to a Wig Store and Doug gave us a great education on Wigs. He let us try on multiple wigs and he had great patience with us. Great selection of wigs short and long, colored and normal, that are of good quality and priced very fairly. It's $7 to try on a wig, and when you purchase a wig, they will deduct $5 from your transaction. They even fit the wig on you! I had so much fun trying on different styles. You won't know that you need or want a wig until to go to the Wig Factory. They have a huge selection, the price is right (as long as you stay away from the human hair wigs - ouch!), and the location is convenient to BART. Every time I go there we have such a good time experimenting. My latest purchase is called Carmen, roll the r and you'll get a feel for what that wigs looks like and how funky I look in it! Ow! I swear it's for a costume party! Make sure you purchase a wig cap when you get there - they have them for ~$2 at the cash register. They're very particular about the wigs so they require a wig cap and their assistance with placing the wigs on your dome. Don't try them on yourself! Grab a wig you like and bring it back the vanity table and the helpful staff with assist you and sometimes help guide you to the right one. We even got the male owner to crack a smile with some of the crazy wigs we tried on. I stopped by the Wig Factory to find a wig for a costume. I knew exactly what I wanted so when I walked in and described it to the man behind the counter he was able to take me right to it. He didn't offer for me to try it on and I didn't ask (maybe I should have?). The sales floor is full of shelves of wigs of all different types. The wig I purchased is good quality and I paid about $45 for it, so it wasn't super cheap. It fit perfectly once I got it home. As I was checking out I noticed a medium selection of eye lashes, which I needed too so I purchased a couple pairs for $5.99, which I thought was a good deal. Unfortunately when I rode over to Multi Culti I saw the exact same eyelashes for only $3.99. Bummer. So in conclusion, the Wig Factory has a great selection of wigs, but buy your eye lashes at Multi Culti! read more

This Shop must be shut down! The sales people are horrible and Extremely rude! I was there on a Saturday, the guy who is supposedly the styler told me I have only 15 minutes and 6 wigs! Standing right next to me and not even letting me to look at myself for more than a minute! They had a large selection of wigs ranging from low to high prices, so there could be something for all budgets. They carry wigs in all colors of the rainbow as well as natural colored ones. Their selection of human and synthetic hair was also wide, and they carry both both women's and men's styles. The owners were really nice. I was wary after seeing the mixed reviews but they treated us respectfully and the stylist helped me to find what I wanted within minutes. He took the time to show me the differences in quality and how they related to prices. My only negative comment is that they charge a $7 service fee ($5 is applied to your purchase). I'm not sure if that's typical for wig stores but the $5 should be refundable if you don't find anything. Went wig shopping with friends and we're overwhelmed with the large selection. Ready to have fun trying on wigs for different occasions we picked one up and we're quickly scolded by one of the owners. Not letting that deter us we kept moving on and picked out the 6 wigs we were allowed to try on with the 15 minute time slot. My female friend went first and while the older man working there put the wig on and adjusted it he continuously would press against her breasts. Wow is all I could say! That's definitely not a positive wow. My daughters and I went in looking to buy wigs and feeling excited about the huge selection they have. So as we were looking around I immediately found something I might have wanted to buy and quickly picked it up and headed towards the mirror to try it on. The woman owner came to grab the wig from us and said, "you don't just try them on! You tell me!" I didn't know how to react as I was shocked how rude this person was. My daughter who stood right next to me felt that was not unnecessary for her to behave as though we had some contagious illness of some sort. I went to the Wig Factory for the first time. I wanted a human hair topper to wear to make my hair look thicker when I wear it down. The owner, would not even show me his toppers, he kept looking at my hair, telling me that I did not need a topper, that my hair was not thin. I walked around and found a couple of items that I wanted, he never asked if I wanted to try them on and I THOUGHT, okay, I will have my personal hairdresser help me style the items and show me how to wear properly. One of the wigs I selected was $499.00 he had no trouble pointing that out to me, he said, "this wig is expensive, it is $499.00"; and I responded, "oh so it is not for sale?" When I told my hair dresser what happened she told me to never go back to the Wig Factory again and she wanted me to return the items I bought as she did not think the quality was worth what I paid. I will keep the items, but, I will never go back. When I asked the owner the best way to secure the wig, he told me to use two bobby pins..........and walked away. I told my daughter what happened so YESTERDAY, at my daughters suggestion, I flew to Los Angeles and my daughter took me to a Wig store in Beverly Hills. My experience was completely different. Everyone in the store made you feel welcomed and all offered to help, they showed me the proper way to secure the wigs and toppers with clips and how to make all feel secure. Evertyone was extremely professional selecting many different styles for me to try no matter what the cost; I spent over 2,000.00. They even told me where to go online to find my color if I wanted to buy other items. It was worth the trip. I'm indicating my interest in wigs and am told---I'm not told, the lady points to a sign on the cash machine---am told that in order to try wigs one has to pay $2 for a head cap (to keep the wigs clean, I suppose), and a $5 service charge. If I buy a wig the service charge will be deducted from the price of the wig. OK, I say, I'm possibly not going to buy a wig today, I'll keep the head cap. I was not sure what to expect based on reviews. I was glad I read them so I knew the drill when I walked in. If I wasn't expecting to pay $7.00, I would have perhaps been turned off, but having time to process that before I went in- I was fine with it. I was greeted with a smile and felt no pressure as I browsed the selection. The male owner came around a few minutes later and helped me collect the wig styles I liked. I have alopecia, and told him I was looking for a wig as close to my normal hair color and style as possible. I tried on a few more than 6, and he was not the least bit bothered. (not that he was warm and fuzzy, I'm your new best pal either). He was really trying to help me find a good fit and knew I was not playing around. He did have opinions, but what San Fran local with a passion doesn't! He encouraged me to get the one that was $200 less than the one I was leaning towards... I really appreciated that I knew he wasn't just trying to push something based on price. He also was patient with explaining the differences between the different wigs. There will be a staff member in the wig area, guarding the wigs. That person is not there to help you. That person is there to tell you to keep your hands off the wigs (which is reinforced by multiple paper printouts taped to the walls.) Walking (jk skipping) from work, I was on a wig hunt (not "witch hunt"). I had passed the store a few times before and only peaked through the window display & a little bit past the entrance way. The door is always closed and the store seems barren albeit the rows of heads reminiscent of 1985's "Return to Oz." Wigs: I spent some time giving every option a glance and every pair of eyes a glare. It's a large collection of mostly synthetic wigs. The cost for each is decent to hefty and the sales seem misgiving. For a business dedicated to wigs, I would expect more variation in styles and prices. You can't try anything on before purchasing a $2 wig cap that strangely comes with a $5 service fee. He explained that I would be reimbursed the $5 only after buying something. I understand the business model and hygiene issue, but wigs have* to be tried on. You're limiting the experience and eliminating potential customers who aren't willing on spending $7 to simply shop. Ambience: Having my own fun, I hardly noticed the store owner following my paces and watching me shop. Of course, this made me feel uncomfortable and untrusted. After not too long I heard, "What are you looking for?" which I interpreted as: "Hurry up." Skimming through the wigs faster, I bided my time trying to make conversation and speaking my thought process out loud. Even then, my presence didn't feel appreciated. I can't try on your wigs and even after paying $7, you won't compliment me? Conclusion: I bought a wig on sale, which I plan on pimping out GoT style (guess who)! Had a absolutely fantastic experience! I've been wearing extensions for years, so I wanted to try some wigs. The gentleman was so helpful and took the time to show me several wigs and how to put on the wig correctly. My husband and 3 year old were with me as well and she had a blast looking at the wigs. I had to buy a very specific wig for my Halloween costume this year. When I went in I showed the owner a few pictures of what I was looking for to see if they could help. First off, he didn't try to sell me anything expensive. He had a couple wigs that were close but over $100. He was focused on getting me something that was reasonably priced. Second, the one that he had that was affordable was the right color but the length was too long and the style was a bit off. He proceeded to spend 15 minutes cutting it to match the length/style! And when I tried it on (after he had cut it) he still told me I didn't have to buy it if I didn't like it. I wasn't expecting this level of service, especially for one of his low-end wigs. I was nervous about this place after reading reviews about their staff but now that I've been there, I say "Bullsh*t!" The staff was totally friendly and professional. NO wig store lets you pick up and play with the wigs. NO wig store lets you try on a wig without buying a wig cap. I wouldn't even want to shop at a store that didn't--yuck! I spoke to them and the couple who owns this store have owned it for 30 years. 30 years!! They know what they are doing. Before you try on anything, they charge $2 for the wig cap and $5 toward the wig. There's no tax, so I don't know how that totals "over $7" as someone said in their review. 2 + 5 = 7, exactly. It took me a log time to decide what I wanted but they never rushed me. I ended up buying two wigs here. Some of the wigs on display come in more colors than are displayed. One of my wigs was dark brown but I had to try on the blond one. It was ok, he brought out the wig and let me look at it before buying it. They help you put on the wig cap, which seemed weird at first but was ok. The guy also styled the wig for me with a little teasing comb. He was very helpful with selecting a style and showing me the color options. They also sell hair extensions, synthetic and human. Unless you are some dummy who refuses to buy a wig cap and wants to try on wigs "just for fun" with a group of giggling friends, I recommend the Wig Factory!! I didn't know what to expect of the Wig Factory. I read the insightful reviews and took a chance. I needed to buy eight wigs for models for an upcoming fashion event. This seemed like the perfect store for what I needed. And, I'm very happy to say I found exactly what I was looking for. They have a pretty good range of different styles at moderate price ranges. They are having a 15% off sale at the moment so that earned them an extra star. The store is clean and well-organized. I'm not a wig connoisseur but the selection is well done. They had a good mix of synthetic and human hair wigs. There is a kitschy area with Rococo-esque mirrors to try on wigs which was cool. The service was efficient, polite but distant. You have to tell them exactly what you need and they will find it for you. However, do not touch the wigs or try any on without permission. It seems like the owners keep a watchful eye and will probably be pretty upset if you did so. If there is another occasion where I need to find a wig, I will definitely return to this store. Gosh, what a terrible experience my friends and I had in this shop. Especially when contrasted with our experience at Foxey Lady down the street, which was 100% positive. The proprietors seemed suspicious of us right from the start. I had an empty coffee cup which I politely asked if I could throw away, and the lady approached me sort of smirking and shaking her head and pointing the counter. I placed the empty cup on the counter as directed. I reached out to straighten the hair on one of the wigs and she ran up to me shaking her finger, "no, no, no," she said. The sign on the wall said that no more than three wigs could be tried on per visit. The reason for our visit was to help a friend choose a wig post-chemotherapy. It didn't seem right that she could only try on three wigs. This was all new to her and we were just at the beginning stages of our search. We ended up buying a wig from Foxey Lady up the street because they were much nicer there. read more
