Reasons why I love this market:…read more It's close to my house It's not on a Saturday morning Vendors are always so friendly It's never crowded Compared to other markets, there aren't many vendors. It works for me because it has the basics I always get: fresh herbs, eggs, tea & tamales. I'd love to see more produce but all in all, I think this is a really great little market.

Citadelle's Twilight Farmers Market started up after their summer break a few weeks back. They are…read moreopen Wednesday evenings from 4 - 7pm (until sometime in May). I went last week for the first time, and back again yesterday since it was so good. Most farmer's markets I've been to in Phoenix are generally lame. Mainly because there are 50% or more booths that are selling things like jewelry, knick-knacks or other things that to me belong more at a craft show than a farmer's market. This one, however, is almost all food (the only booth I noticed, other than information, that wasn't food was a table for one of the stores in the plaza). Two or three produce vendors, depending on the week, farm fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, bbq sauce, cider, granola, tamales, etc. etc. My favorite though is the dairy guys with the fresh cheese curds. You'd think you were eating a mouse the way these things squeek! Definitely fresher than the ones at Trader Joes. I am a huge fan of this farmer's market, and am sure all be back plenty of times over the fall/winter. My only minor complaint is that they advertise as Arizona's only farmer's market under the stars...since I pretty sure that the Downtown Market goes on Wednesday night and there is a farmer's market now at Norterra (sucked...see above about non food vendors), it's not even remotely true. 4.9 stars, rounded up!

I've gone here for years…read more The treats are consistently delicious. Service is always friendly. They have a big parking lot, so I've never had an issue parking. They have tours and so many different candies to try and great gifts for the sweets lovers in your life. One thing that my minis are a fan of are the "make your own chocolate" so you can create custom treats. The chocolate is delicious and you get a decent selection of options to include for your custom treats. It's fun to do on a random day if you're trying to find things to do as a family or it'd be a cute day date tbh. Would I come back? Yes, always.

Tickets were only $7 for the tour and if you wanted to add on a chocolate VIP activity, it's around $16. The 1 hr tour took place in the large factory room and our group stood in a space right in front. We were brought to different sections while being taught about their candy manufacturing and process. Loved our tour guide, she was very animated and passionate about Cerreta's candies. We also got to try different popular treats at each station. I was impressed with their life-sized Santa Claus mold and this enormous football chocolate they made for a NFL game. They mainly produce flavored taffy, caramel and assorted chocolates. My kiddo was looking around for sour candy and gummies, but this isn't necessarily the spot for the non-chocolate candy lovers. He did enjoy making his VIP activity which was a pizza kit. They pour liquid chocolate into the pizza mold and he was able to place various ingredients in it (pretzels, marshmallow, m&ms, white syrup, etc). We also were allowed one free chocolate at the store! We had a great time and bought a bunch of various tasty treats including a chocolate cockroach, lol it was fake of course!

Then, I perused the many long aisles in this huge warehouse-like market. I saw aisles marked overhead for Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, and Eastern European countries. They have lots of frozen foods in freezer cases, fresh produce, and baked goods. Fresh and frozen meats. And Lots of ethnic condiments! Lots of packaged snacks and candies, too. Checkout was quick.

I normally shop at 99 Ranch over in Chandler, and occasionally will go to Mekong or Lee Lee's and everyone once in awhile, I will venture to H Mart, so we are definitely covered here in the Valley with many options for Asian or international grocery. I was here yesterday and I always like to check out all their fresh made Korean dishes. They have seafood and kimchee pancakes and variety of ban chan available! Great! There is always fresh produce available, meats, seafood, freezer items. I like coming here to supplement what I can't find elsewhere. My purchases on this trip included: (1) ready-made spicy tuna onigiri ($3.99 each or 2/$7) - this was so-so, I can make a better one. (2) onigiri maker and silicone sushi roller - will be making my own rolls and onigiri at home. (3) burdock root seeds - going to figure out if we can grow these well out here (4) Nimboo pudina peanuts and chana (my favorite Indian snacks) (5) Asian sour lemon drink - Chanh Xi Muoi - this is my favorite with some seltzer on a hot summer day, so refreshing I found some unique items today and will be back again on my next trip out this way!
