I had to split the rating difference on this one. 5- for the food and cooks 1- for the female waitress We're from Maryland visiting the Bog and needed dinner. When we went in, no greeting, no sign saying seat yourself or wait to be seated. We stood for a good bit as the waitress ignored us and then just sat ourselves. She offered a horrible response when we asked one were some popular dishes on the menu. She was snippy the whole time and led to a $5 tip. Food was great from Quesadillas, wings and for sure pies! They were very busy when my son and I stopped in for lunch. Our waitress let us know if we ordered right away she would sneak us in before a large party orders that came in the same time we did. They have a standard cafe menu and the breakfast looked great. Our order took about 45 minutes to get and my beef and gravy was cold with a hot mashed potato underneath and the plate was hot almost like it was microwaved. My son's burger was ok he said with not much flavor. We will try again for breakfast or a less busy time for lunch. It was very clean in there with an old fashioned cafe vibe. read more

It was a nice, small town stop. A little bit of everything as far as basic diner food. Was it spectacular? No. But was it awesome to support this diner that's the only restaurant for miles and miles. What do I say about a little dive diner? Well they tried. But in my opinion I wished for something better. We walked in with no hello or greeting. So I guess we just seat ourselves? Ok. As I looked around, I certainly noticed it must be just a place for locals to sit and socialize. It's definitely not a place to go out of the way for. Their 'buffet' consisted of 8 items. Eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, biscuits, gravy, potatoes and cinnamon rolls. $7.95 for this? This Vegas girl was disappointed being accustomed to huge overwhelming buffets. I was going with a man's motto - size doesn't matter. Unfortunately the food wasn't too great either. Bread items were dry and other items had an old stale taste. I would have guessed it but I wanted them to prove me wrong. Restrooms were so dirty that I had to warn the other girls in our group not to use them. I felt really sick to my stomach after that. We stop here because we have family in the area and this is the only option unless you want to drive 25 miles or more for decent food. I stopped in with a few family members last week and was not impressed. I tried the Wilbert burger and it came out dry, crunchy, and charred. There was little to no seasoning in the meat either. The fries were okay. The waitress didn't come back after delivering the food. The time before this visit, the burger wasn't charred, but it was dry and lacked flavor. I will never make the mistake of ordering the hot turkey and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were barely luke warm and the turkey and gravy did not taste good at all. I do like the old-time charm of the cafe(could be a bit cleaner) and it is usually nice and quiet. I'm sure I'll be back to eat there, but next time I'll just try the dessert. read more

This is the must eat for Bog travelers. March's Caramel Pecan Pie is to die for. Breakfast time puts you in a very friendly atmosphere where the smiles and service abound. Highly recommend the Rice Sausage plate for breakfast. The club sandwich at lunch is quite filling. read more

I was actually quite surprised by this place. Wife used to stop with her parents on the way to Duluth. We were headed up to Pelican Lake for a family wedding and decided to stop here as Uncle Louies in Duluth was closed for Labor Day. Well.. good stop. We both had the special, which was wild rice sausage with eggs/hash browns. Eggs were perfectly cooked to order, hash browns were NOT frozen and homemade. They even gave them to me extra crispy the way I ordered. Wild ride sausage was tasty and had great flavor. Coffee hot and good. Good service (not real talkative). If only they had homemade bread for the toast.. Good stop, I'd stop again if I was driving by. read more

I have to sign and register to say something about a meal? Well ok, I read this person'g post about the food being terrible and restrooms scuzzy unfriendly waitresses, OH COMMON!! I have eaten there many times and the restrooms were good and liked the waitresses and the food is GREAT!! I have a friend, (dead now) and his wife and I talk all the time and she was on a trip with her sister like they do every year, and this year they visited my state Minnesota. So they didn't have to drive clear up to Hibbing I arranged to meet them half way from Duluth to Wilbert's Café, and we all had the eggs bacon hashbrowns and toast. It was Ann's and my favorite anyway. And it's the BEST eggs bacon hashbrowns and toast I ever eaten and when I'm around for breakfast that's what I usually have. They started in Minneapolis and went to Duluth, has a couple of breakfasts in each place as well as Wisconsin and Michigan. When my friends got back home I asked them where they thought the food was the best of all the restaurants and they said when we had breakfast in Cotton. This is the best place In the area to stop for a great home cooked meal. Try the Monday night wing special or Tuesday night burger special or the Wednesday night homemade pizza. The food is great. The menu has many choices and the staff is friendly and very helpful. Also the prices are very reasonable. It's close to the highway so it's easy to get to and is also semi truck friendly it is a stop I definitely recommend. read more

New Year's Day, driving home to Hudson Wisconsin from Ely Minnesota, we were on a mission to find a diner to eat breakfast. Every establishment was closed for the holiday until we came across Wilbert's on 35. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. All three sons filled up on pancakes. My husband, from the South had to try the biscuits and gravy. He was pleasantly surprised how good they were. I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a good comfort food, value priced with quick service. Sidenote, my son left his jacket at the restaurant and Sandy the manager was very helpful and accommodating in mailing his coat back to us as we live three hours away. Best Pies!! I have had many pies from here. The crust is scrumptious, my most recent just last week was a blueberry pie. We made it last all week in Canada. Make sure you call a day ahead to order. Can't wait until next year when traveling to Lake Vermilion to get my yearly pie. read more

Home made food, huge portions and cheap prices make this a great place to stop! Their hamburgers are amazing and all of their desserts are home made. I also was told that they will be setting up FREE WI-FI at the end of December. This would be great! read more
