Best liquor store in the Fort, hands down! Wilbur's generally has the best prices on spirits and the best selection of beer [pronounced b'ur] around town. Be sure to check out their local offerings - you might miss the proud CO alco-ma-hol amidst its surrounding giants [for serious, pick up a bottle from the peach street distillery. you won't be disappointed.]. And, don't be embarrassed to ask for help. Someone is there to guide your purchase. For "hard to reach" brews... the beer guru-man, Jeff, is always available to order something in if you can't find it. For instance, I'm an east coaster [wiiiicked], and I love my coast's beers. In this CO dominated beer market, I get what I want. In fact, I feel single-handedly responsible for Wilbur's over-ordering Dogfishhead's Burton Baton a few months back. Eh... =/ Oops. Ordered from Drizzly and long story short what we ordered we found out "is hiding in the managers office for other people. Which was not 1 but 3 of the same bottle", so technically it's in inventory as it's not sold, but the manager is saving it out of customers sight. How is that fair? I love liquor stores like Wilbur's (back home we had BevMo). I mostly come for the beer, and occasionally a bottle of wine, but their selection has yet to disappoint. I love the mix & match option where you can create your own six pack. During the holiday season this was a great way to try all the great winter brews Colorado has to offer. The whole store has a nice ambience in my opinion, as far as liquor stores go. Definitely not seedy. Plus the staff have always been so friendly. I was passing through Fort Collins and decided to check out one of the local breweries. Asked the bartender there if there was a good liquor store that had a great selection of Colorado beer and Wilbur's was the recommendation. I couldn't have asked for more! This store is HUGE! They have coolers galore filled with Colorado beer, to include many, many Colorado beers. I've been buying from Wilbur's since college, they've always had a good craft beer selection. The prices are typically a bit higher than most other stores, but the variety has made up for it. However, they've been on a gradual, but obvious decline in recent years. As the beer culture in this town has evolved, the customer service level of the Wilbur's employees have slipped quite a bit. When I was getting into beer, I feel like there was always someone willing to help or explain a style or particular beer. I've since learned a lot and I now know what beers I like and want, and around what time they should be hitting shelves. A lot of these are fairly limited releases, so I've started to call to see if a beer is in stock. You'd think this would be a great opportunity for good customer service, but lately it seems like I'm always inconveniencing someone by asking if they have something or when they expect it. More and more I've just started going in and looking around as I don't feel like dealing with them on the phone. The breaking point for me was the unacceptably poor planning of the release of Westvleteren 12. Some helpful people attempted to organize everyone that showed up early in an attempt to get some (Wilbur's had no plans to do so), and by, shall we say Black Friday standards, I should have gotten a 6 pack. Unfortunately the lack of planning just led to chaos and well over half of the people who had been waiting for hours in the cold left empty handed. I guess Wilbur's should have talked to Best Buy or Walmart to get some tips on crowd control and limited stock release. Or they could have released it when they got it, the night before, like Coaltrain in Colorado Springs did. But hey, I'm no expert. The upside of the evolution of the beer culture in Fort Collins is plenty of other stores in Fort Collins now carry an awesome variety of beer, often for less money and with a much better experience. I visited Wilbur's a couple of times while in college, would buy something for the evening, and then be on my way. Now that I'm all "grown-up" it's a lot more fun to peruse the aisles here, and get lost in the numerous varieties of wine, spirits, and beers. The staff is usually pretty friendly. The one ding I would give this place is that they're prices are a little high. You can almost always find what you want, even if it's pretty unique or hard to find, but you will the price for it. read more

In Ft. Collins, there really are only two proper liquor stores: Wilburs and Supermarket Liquors. As for Wilburs, they have a cool crew and an excellent selection of ANYTHING alcoholic or beverage related stuff. HUGE wine selection, ENORMOUS craft beer selection, GIGANTIC liquor selection, and even some (scoff) nonalcoholic stuff. Be sure to get the Wilbur's card because if you go there enough you'll see some pretty good deals from time to time on stuff you like to drink. Wilbur's hasn't failed me yet in offering a vast amount of options to choose from. The employees are friendly and most know their stuff if you have questions. The sales are unbeatable. Wilbur's has the best selection of domestic and international beers, wine, and liquors I've seen yet in Northern Colorado. They also have a loyalty program that I would recommend signing up for if you shop there often and are in the lookout for good deals via email. My only gripe is that some of the employees really come off as rude when it comes to checking for ID. A few times I've had cashiers adopt the "I know you're not 21 - you're busted" attitude yet I always have my ID in hand and ready before I even approach the counter. Personally, I get carded very little these days but don't mind presenting ID when requested. I understand they are in the interest of protecting the business (e.g. not receiving citations for selling to underage buyers) and Ft. Collins is a college town, but I think a bit more professionalism would also be nice. read more

Overall, a great liquor store in the quality and quantity of the selection, as well as the customer service. We stopped by in search of a particular wine we found online and their wine person directed us to it without hesitation. Having found the wine so easily, we spent some more time browsing the aisles and I came across my favorite Colorado Springs beer, a really rare find. You can mix and match the beer for a perfect split decision 6 pack, so we took advantage of that and walked away with 6 beers and our wine of choice for roughly 24 dollars. I just experienced perhaps the worst customer service ever. I ordered a case of wine on line using Wilbur's app fort the first time. I had been a customer of theirs for about two years. When picking up my order I was wanting to use a discount coupon I had received for points earned using their loyalty program. I was told that online orders would not qualify for any discounts or the use of any coupons. Additionally this order would not qualify for the case discount. Speaking with the manager on duty she said there can be no exceptions. I asked what is the advantage of ordering on line for pickup and she said it was the convivence. It would have been so simple to credit this purchase and ring me up again with the discounts I earned. They will not miss my business because they are big and I will not miss them. read more

Sadly Wilburs does not support blended families. I was shopping there today with my nephew. Spent a lot of time looking through their admittedly great selections. Found a bottle of Stranahans single malt that I'd been after for quite some time. Upon check out I was asked if my nephew was my son. I stated no, he's my nephew he lives with me, I'm his guardian. I was told that I could not purchase anything with him with me. I was told only "biological" parents are able to purchase with children accompanying them at Wilburs. I was stunned, I could not believe that I was being discrimated against for not being my child's biological father. I was told I could walk outside with him and set him on a bench and come back in alone to make a purchase. Who in their right mind would leave their child outside their store. If that is your policy how could you in good conscience serve me knowing my nephew is outside and two minutes ago you couldn't serve me. Is losing one customer going to hurt Wilburs, likely no, but leaving wilburs and my nephew apologizing because he's my nephew and not my son hurt me. And for that reason you've lost a customer for life. read more

Like everyone has already said, the have THE best selection of beer and wine in town, hands down! My BF is a total beer geek and he practical stops by Wilburs every other day to grab some beer for some obscure brewer. He loves the mix and match! Their customer service is amazing. We just ordered Champagne for our wedding and it was so easy. They dropped off the order, including the champagne on ice and glasses, at our venue. Mecca for finding a beverage that's sure to please! One entire side of the warehouse building are the refrigerators with the most amazing ongoing supply of beers. Talk about selection, any place that claims to have 206 scotches and I believe they do wins a hearty pat on the back. This place is huge and the selection goes on and on. I hope you like big bottles, because they have them in massive quantities. If you want a small bottle, there is a small alcove with a lesser selection, but totally adequate. I've been spending the last hour searching for a reason to not give them five stars. I'm usually put off by department stores, but I have absolutely no complaints. Most importantly, they always have what I am looking for and they have always treated me good. Shelves are constantly restocked, so you know that your favorite hop bombs haven't been sitting there losing their flavor for months (ahem, other liquor stores in town).
