My folks had bought a bird feeder with a cage and canopy. I absolutely love my bird feeder and so do all the birds in the area!!! Wild Birds has extremely knowledgeable, honest, and helpful staff!!! The feeder that I have broke and with the lifetime warranty that it comes with I had NO PROBLEMS getting it fixed quickly. The part that broke apparently is a common issue and it was repaired in less than 5mins. I told the gentleman that helped that I lived in SF and that it was a long trek to get up there. Coming to Wild Birds is now my favorite shopping experience! I'm working from home and it gives me a lift to see the birds at the feeders (two for suet balls, one for seed and one for the hummingbirds). I love the Wild Birds Unlimited store located in the Vintage Oaks mall in Novato. When I first became interested in feeding the birds that visit my garden, the employees gave me a lot of wonderful advice on what I should get. And now, a few years later, I regularly restock my bird food at their store. I am especially happy with their naturally formulated hummingbird nectar that stays fresh in the feeder for up to a couple weeks even in the hot sun and the hot pepper suet that squirrels, rats, and mice stay away from but the birds love. Their bird seed has no unnecessary filler in it-- so it leads to less junky product on the ground that attracts mice and rats. Can't tell you how much I love this place! My wife and I stumbled upon it a couple weeks after moving up to Marin and were curious so we stopped in. Little did we know we would walk out of there both bird lovers and with a full feeder setup, LOL. Jack and the rest of the staff are always so friendly and accommodating whenever we stop in. So when we heard about Wild Birds Unlimited, we had to check it out. We are SO glad we did! Every time we visit the store, the employees are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They listened to our needs and came up with the perfect bird feeder for our house! Again, the service here is incredible that I'd shop here any day over buying on Amazon. I went into Wild Birds yesterday for the first time. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the woman who helped me but she wore a mask and had bright blue eyes and was so good at customer service. Not only was she very knowledgeable about bird feeders and helped me with my purchase she was also incredibly thoughtful. I had been locked out of my car in the heat of mid afternoon and walked a distance while waiting for help with my car. When she heard my woes she offered me a cup of ice water and was so kind. I love this shop. It's a great place to explore, have a conversation with the friendly staff about the local birdlife, and purchase unique bird habitat enhancements and seeds. I really enjoy supporting the local birdlife around my home and the folks here never steer me wrong about what type of bird feed is right for my area and which types will attract and support the native species. It is not a very large shop and it's narrow, so it can be hard to navigate if there are a lot of folks visiting. I read someone say that they weren't friendly to their child; it must have been an off day. I see a lot of children here and the workers take time to explain about their products to the wee ones. They demonstrate how birds use their feeders or inhabit their houses. I've even seen a child help with feeding the flurry of birds outside with the help of a worker. All I would recommend is that you keep your children close (some folks let them wander without supervision) and have them ask before touching anything. Common courtesy and your child might find an amazing new mentor here and become an enthusiastic birder. read more

Love WBU, the folks who work there, and their online store. They simply have the best wild bird food you're ever going to find. I've experimented with many other brands, but the birds just love WBU's seed mix / suet the most. I get an amazing variety of birds that come to my feeders (e.g. pygmy nuthatches, spotted towhees, quail, warblers, wrens, downy and hairy woodpeckers, scrub jays, crows, band tailed pigeons, you name it!) and because of the no-mess mix, I'm able to keep the raccoons and rats out of my backyard. It makes me happy to see so many different birds -- it's worth every penny. Their customer service is also top notch and they make you feel taken care of. I started ordering online recently because it's a bit of drive for me to get to Novato and all my shipments arrive in a timely manner. Please do yourself a favor and do not patronize this establishment of you have young children. My son is 5 and loves birds. I have spend money here buying bird feeders and seed numerous times. Today a man who works there found it fit to chastise my son for testing out the wind chimes . I'm sorry. If you don't want people to discover what they sound like before purchasing they should not be on display. He apologized and said he was stressed. Stressed about working in a shop with one other patron? Maybe he should retire. I said it was unacceptable and we won't be back. And we won't . Living in Novato for most of my life, I hadn't seen too many Orioles, so when I saw one on my hummingbird feeder, I got really excited. Googled what to do and got their website, called them up asking what to do. They were super helpful and enthusiastic and I raced right down so I could get a feeder up asap. And one of my new favorite places is Wild Birds Unlimited right here in the mall (Vintage Oaks btw). Right out front is a double bird feeder that you should stop and watch for a bit with your morning coffee! Their set up so squirrels and less savory small mammals cant get at the birdie snacks and is set up so colorful little birdies like chickadees and tufted titmouses can get in. Not the big lugs like red shouldered black birds and jays! Inside the store the totally involved and knowledgeable bird people will help you get a humming bird feeder or a owl house, the right seeds for your local bird hood, maybe a block of suet and all kind of cool bird resources! read more

When we moved to Napa, CA we had no idea that there was no Wild Birds Unlimited in town. So now we drive 45 minutes every couple months to stock up on the freshest seed on the planet. We became members for $25 which gives us a 15% discount on all items in the store and allows us to earn "bird bucks." For every $200, we spend we earn $10 worth of "bucks". Because of this you very quickly earn back the $25 fee! The owner Mike is so incredibly nice and we love working with and chatting with Scott whenever he is working. We go to the store in Warwick and have had a tremendous experience. They helped us design a system that is successfully attracting orioles, hummingbirds, finches, downeys, nuthatches, chickadees, cardinals...all the beautiful native birds. They also helped us with feeders and seed that squirrels can't get to or don't like and houses that sparrows can't commandeer. We live in Cumberland with a very small yard, but it's a sanctuary, especially in these difficult times. Stopped in here on a trip to Novato because who doesn't love seeing birding accessories in person? Found an excellent regional Novato / San Rafael trail map and when I purchased it the helpful gentleman suggested that if we wanted good birding to check out the Las Gallinas Water Treatment facility. Not a common hiking suggestion but, sure enough, we decided to try it out and the wildlife was AMAZING. Tons of waterfowl, green and blue herons, a family of swans, warblers, a variety of finch and sparrows, raptors including a kestrel and turkey vultures. I had never seen a swan in flight before.
