Came out to the Bird Shop in Roseville to get my mom some Cockatiel feed and treats. And were looking at possible bird options for my girlfriends sister. Assorted Finches Assorted Canaries Rainbow Lorakeet Rose-Breaster Cocatkoo Green Macaw Lutino Conures These were just some of the variety of birds we saw during out visit, several of which were hangout out of there cages when we arrived. While several others were brought out that we could interact with and or hold. I liked that the larger birds were primarily hand raised, which traditionally makes them more social and pet friendly. Definitely something we were looking for, as far as temperaments, for birds. That we'd like to have out of the cage, and that were be socialized with by the family. It was a little light on the amount of birds at the time of our visit, to which one of the store reps noted to come back between March-May. As that's when a lot of breeders would be stopping in with baby birds. So there will be a larger selection coming in within the next couple of months. There was a lot a large variety of bird accessories and food options, from the mixed feed time that you could by custom quantities of. To the pre-packed treats and birds see, that came in a various sizes. Overall: Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the birds we inquired about. Told of the "pros & cons" of different breeds. And which ones would be the selection for the temperament of the birds and or the homes they'd need to go to. read more

If you love your health please please don't go to this dental clinic. In my experience, the staff seemed more focused on billing than patient care. Because I had insurance I was told several teeth needed fillings, even though I only had concerns with one tooth. After the fillings were done, some fell out within weeks. When I returned for help, I was told I would need to pay again to fix the problem, even though the fillings had failed and it is their problem. Dr. Vu performed some of the original fillings, and Dr. Chu attempted repairs twice, but I still have pain and difficulty chewing. Before the treatment, I had no issues with most of these teeth. Unfortunately, the quality of care and follow-up support was very disappointing. I would also like to note that, except for Dr. Chu, most of the staff were rude and unprofessional in their interactions with patients, which made the overall experience even more frustrating. read more

We stopped by Saturday after having lunch next door at Sourdough and Co. Our 1 and 8 year old had so much fun interacting with their birds, that they didn't want to leave! We met a sweet macaw that was there for boarding that said hi and love you back to us! And a cute Cockatoo for sale that reminded me of Elvis when it put up its head feathers! Lol well their luck we had to call AAA to get a new car battery, so they got to stay longer! Maybe I should get them a bird?We purchased a ball with a bell inside for our toddler to jingle and it helped keep her busy as well! This family owned and operated business opened in 1979, they sell a variety of birds from cockatoos to canaries, toys, perches and food! If your bird needs a feather trim, beak trim or nail trim they offer them! They were very gentle with a sweet bird we witnessed wrapped carefully in a towel getting a nail trim! There are two avian hosts who are stars of the shop. Most friendly and sweetest birds welcome and entertain people who visit the shop. The shop is run by caring people who treat every bird as their own. They have birds, food, toys and everything a bird needs. I have used their boarding facility for my birds several times and my birds loved it. read more

This is an amazing shop. I got two of my birds from them. When I go on holidays, I board my birds with them. They are very knowledgeable, but the most important thing is they do care about birds. The birds are always well cared for and the cages are impeccably clean. I urge local people to open up their eyes and go take a look at this shop. We need small businesses like this rather than all the generic chain stores. This shop has been around for 40 years, and the business environment isn't great out there. We just rescued a Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot and we took it straight to the bird shop to have its nails trimmed, wings clipped and beak filed. They did an amazing job with our bird and they were very knowledgeable about our bird. I will be going back for all my birds needs. They have several feed options and healthy treats for all breeds. Their selection of toys range from big to small with so many to choose from. Sure to keep your bird happy for hours. They also have perches of all sizes and manzanita that you can trim to fit any cage. They have an amazing selection of beautiful birds and cages as well. I went there today to just "look". I've always wanted a sun conure. Right when I got in a bird tried to get my attention. All throughout the store, he would go to his cage & would follow along. I decided to start asking questions. The staff was wonderful! I got so much information on how to take care of my future conure. I got to play with with him, hold him. Amazing little shop! I went in looking for a parrot and ended up heading home with the sweetest little turquoise green cheek conure. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and very helpful to me as a novice bird owner. They took their time to help me choose what supplies I needed for the little one, sent me home with a packet of information as well as a starter supply of food, and walked me through care instructions. As soon as we walked in the owner, or so I assume since I wouldn't know due to no greeting or speaking the entire time, was on her computer. Again, when we walked in NOT ONE PERSON said hello. I have been going to the bird shop for over 25 years when it was off of Auburn! They have an amazing selection of birds and we have bought many different birds from here. The first was an umbrella cockatoo and the last one was for my daughter and it was a green cheek conure. They have everything you need and their selection of birds is amazing. This place is amazing. I have been coming here for a little bit of time to get supplies for my parakeets and the staff is super laid back and lets me play with with the birds as long as I want. I literally spent two hours obsessing over their rainbow lorikeet once. I bought my parrotlet from here recently and I just love her so much. She is so sweet. The first day I had her she had bonded with me and wanted to spend all her time with me. They have nearly everything you need for your bird- so many options. Please avoid buying your supplies at Amazon or Petsmart and come here instead because we need to support the companies that make sure birds are treated right. There's always a handful of staff on duty, which is really nice. I wish so much they would ask me to work wthem. I love this shop and all the birds and I am just so happy when I'm there. We occasionally board our Nanday Conure with The Bird Shop if we are traveling and have always been impressed with the professionalism of the staff. They take good care of "Birdy" when we are away, and his cage is always clean and well stocked when we've picked him up. We came here to pick up a pair of parakeets but ended up considering a green cheek conure. We were put on their waiting list and we thought that it would be a long wait since everyone is buying a pet due to the stay at home order to flatten the curve in the pandemic. We waited two days and got a call that we are next in line. We were fortunate to get the exact bird we really wanted. It must be meant to be. The staff here are very knowledgeable and friendly. They give you info on all you need to know about birds. They are been 7 days a week and you can call them anytime for questions. They also have a one week well ness check with your lil one. Every time I drive into the Sacramento area I make sure to stop in to The Bird Store to buy toys toys and more toys for my fids, even the birdmarts don't have a selection comparable to this place, much better prices then the birdmarts too. The Bird Store also has a huge selection of bird food, treats & other supplies Oh I bought this amazing bird shower stand that's grippy from them that works for my Galah to my Macaw, the quality of their supplies is just amazing. I really can't say enough about this place, it beats anything we have in the Bay Area, this will always be my shop of choice for my fids, I just wish it wasn't 2.5 hours away but that probably is a good thing considering I want to buy everything lol. read more

His place has the best customer service as well as the best hand raised birds all the birds coming out of this place have wonderful personalities extremely lovable and are an amazing Health not to mention that they don't gouge you for price for these magnificent Birds. When it comes to having a bird in your family they basically are our family and price doesn't always matter. But the love and attention that goes into them does. They start the birds out with all the love they could possibly want an attention and make sure that it's a good match they're extremely knowledgeable and it really patient with you through the process. Not to review another place on here but parrot planet is subpar their customer service is bad there's no such thing as a bad bird but if you had to compare the two bird shop is where I go not to mention products that they sell prices their knowledge is less than than our friend here ay bird shop. We drive 40 minutes from downtown Sac to bring our bird here for boarding and nail trimmings because there's just no other place in Sac that lives up to The Bird Shop. They take care of their birds and carry a great selection of food and toys that are actually good for birds. Staff is great, my bird has stayed here for 3 weeks at a time and I wouldn't trust anyone else. He always comes home to us happy and healthy. I wish I could give this place 100 stars to balance out the certain demographic of reviewers who need to be waited upon hand and foot. I thought I should write a review since none of the current reviews has mentioned the boarding, and someone might come along specifically to find out how the boarding is... I have been boarding my 12-year-old green cheek conure Kiwi at the Bird Shop on our yearly vacation for the past 5 years and I am entirely comfortable leaving her with them. I used to leave her with my father and let's just say I'd rather leave her at the Bird Shop. ;) They know my bird and I know that if anything comes up, anything at all, that they will take good care of her. I always bring her cage but they will also let you use one of their own cages. Roudybush pellets are included in the boarding but if your bird also eats seed like mine does (or only eats seed) then be sure to bring some along. They also provide the same little veggie mix you see in the bird cages in the shop for the birds in boarding. The shop itself is also great and I highly recommend it. As other reviewers have mentioned they do grooming (book in advance), and the nice ladies always preen Kiwi's head for her at the same time if she's got pinfeathers. (She doesn't like us to preen her so when she's wrapped in a towel is the only time anyone can clean her head.) With one exception I've always been lucky enough to live someplace with a local bird-only pet shop and The Bird Shop is one of the best I've known. read more

We were in Sacramento today on other business from where we live in Stockton Ca. so we decided to stop by and see what we could see as we are a family of animal lovers. We have an Umbrella Cockatoo, a Blue and Gold Macaw as well as a breeding pair of Rose Breasted Cockatoos. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they answered our questions in detail and gave us all sorts of useful advice. As we were shopping we noted their genuine concern for us getting exactly and only what we really needed for our birds. When the Bird Shop was on off Auburn, I loved it and didn't mind the 1 1/2 hours to get there from my home. I was always helped if I needed it, the store was clean and the birds healthy. I don't know if there is a different owner or what, but the last two times I was in have been abysmal. I went in ready to drop $700 or so in cash. They had very few cages, so I asked. The young girl that waited on me obviously wanted to help, but just as obviously knew nothing about her product. So, she tracked down what I assume is the owner. While that person was within 4 feet of me, she never even acknowledged me! I had another question and the young woman went to find her yet again and still she did not come out to talk to me! During the waiting periods, I, of course, went to check out the birds. In my humble opinion, the parrots were kept in cages that are way too small, the water dishes were full of food and debris and the whole place felt dirty to me. I felt so sorry for the birds there! I will never be back to the store and I highly recommend you do not go in either, unless you enjoy rude and dirty. read more

I take my bird in about every 6 weeks for a nail and wing trim and typically make an appointment. I had some errands to run and figured I would see if I could get in without an appointment if I just showed up. The gal behind the counter told me most everyone is at lunch and they don't make/take appointments during this time due to the limited staff, but I was more than welcome to wait about 15 minuets until the staff returns from lunch. 5 minuets later they were back and trimmed up my bird. I have always been satisfied with the level of customer service for such a busy shop as theirs. read more
