My childhood pet macaw was boarded at Ana's Parrots & Supplies for a few weeks while my family completed a local move. During its stay, my macaw became seriously ill. According to the veterinarian who treated her afterward, she contracted a virus that is typically spread by other birds. She later aspirated, developed pneumonia, and tragically passed away. After discovering the illness, we called the owner to inform her of what happened. Instead of expressing any concern or taking responsibility, she was rude and blamed my mother for the bird becoming sick -- despite the fact that our macaw had never been exposed to other birds in her entire life until being boarded here. My mother spent roughly $2,000 on testing and treatment trying to save her, only for her to pass shortly after. Since sharing our experience, several local bird owners, avian vets, and bird experts in our area have echoed similar concerns about this facility. I truly wish we had known all of this beforehand. Losing a lifelong family pet in this way was devastating. While I can only speak to my personal experience, the lack of accountability and the conditions that allowed this to happen are deeply concerning. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision before trusting this business with the care of their birds.

I live in a wooded area with lots of animals, including red foxes, grey squirrels, chipmunks,…read morebunnies, dozens of species of birds (which we feed), and deer. Some of the wildlife are cute and entertaining, others are a nuisance. On two occasions, we've been terrorized by what we assumed were rabid raccoons, based on their bizarre and aggressive behavior. The first one came up on our deck and wouldn't leave, even after I tried to scare it off with my leaf blower. The second time, last week, a clearly very sick raccoon roamed around my property for hours, repeatedly coming right up to the house, and charging at me when I tried to shoo it away. On both occasions, we called the Plainfield Area Humane Society for help. A young lady came out in the truck with a snare and a net and managed to capture the animals and take them away. This time, she said the raccoon probably did not have rabies, but most likely had distemper. They weren't going to euthanize the animal. They would medicate it and attempt to nurse it back to health, and then release it. Healthy or not, I hope it doesn't come back here.
