Do not buy a bird from this place unless you want them to die. i bought a baby female cockateil 2-3 month old. The store condition was poor with many birds cramped in a cage and wings clipped. Cruel these people only care about the money. Our cockateil died one week in and the vet said she had an infection, and that she was under Fed. The vet said it was the stores fault not ours. what they are doing to these birds is cruel. read more

I love my 4 year Caique, Carina, so much. She has always been groomed (nails and beak) at BIRD CAMP in Manhattan and Bird Exotic, Delran, NJ. Bird Camp has stopped offering these services, and the trip for us to Delran is 200 miles round trip. We have usually done it when we go down to Phillie, or further south, for the weekend. Carina then stays with them. To go there JUST for grooming would be very tough on her. So, I decided to look around and found Pete's. OMG, am I glad I did. They were gentle with her, and they were fast. THANK YOU! Someone on here mentioned she had been going for grooming to Pete's for a decade....I can believe it. This is a COOL place!!! Amazing guy! We called him on the phone after discovering our new cockatiel, Louie, was bleeding from his wing. We called the store where we got Louie (not Pete's) and they told us we need to immediately remove his blood feather. We were cautious of doing so after reading mixed things online and also not being sure if the blood feather was an issue. We called Pete and he told us to bring him in to look at. He was so kind and helpful on the phone. We brought him in and Pete very gently handled our bird. It was amazing how calm our bird was with him. We had trouble holding him down as we did not want to further hurt him. He concluded there was just a scratch and gave us something to put on it to heal. Again so so kind! He also gave us some great advice on feeding him and even gave our bird a free treat! We tried to pay him for taking the time to look at him and help us but he refused! Again, this man loves birds and helping others. We took a look around the store and all the birds were beautiful, cages were so clean, and overall such a pleasant experience. We will be buying all our bird needs from him and maybe eventually get Louie a friend from him. Thank you Pete!! read more

This has been the best bird store I've visited by far! Privately owned and the store is clean! The owner cares about his birds!! I purchased a two months gc conure from him and he made me wait a few days even though I kept begging and annoying him lol to let me take the bird home with me and he said no because the bird was still a baby and he wanted to make sure it was eating properly and strong enough to go home. What I like most about this place is the owner doesn't over price these poor animals his prices are reasonable and fair. I've gone to other stores where they over price these birds extremely too high. FYI he also does birds nails & wings trimming. read more

I went today to look at cockatiels at his store I had been to 2 other during the past week found Pete's too be the best price of all cleanest cages and store and the one too have the most young birds available at a very reasonable price their knowledge of birds and expertise with them makes them experts. I am a new fan of Pete's Bird Garden. I got my two baby cockatiels Pancho and Pablo from this place and I have to say Pete truly cares about the birds he sells. Pablo had a small issue with his leg (I got him very young and he kept jumping from one perch to the next and hurt one finger by landing the wrong way) . I called Pete before I got Pablo to the vet and he said to bring the birdie to him that he was going to take care of him and he did! Pablo is getting better and all thanks to Pete!! He is truly knowledgeable about birds and helps you by answering any questions you have and sharing his knowledge. Great knowledgeable staff. You can be sure to have a full serviced, bird shopping experience here! I get all my bird food needs from here, and the bird food prices here are the best prices you can get period. I even look online, the food is fresh. Do not want bugs in old food in which I have certainly seen at another place I wont name. The food like the grocery store is by the pound and I usually buy 5-7lbs at a time of various mixed pellets and seeds. Each time I mix it up as there is a great variety and this keeps my parrot excited, they do get bored of the same food. There is a decent inventory of toys and accessories as well. The birds here are mostly small and there are many, great for finch people and other small bird owners. There are a few parrots who live here with the store and every once in a while a few parrots for sale. A great place to bring your own bird to birdie socialize. I have a Parrot Pionus Bronze Wing, he comes to the store with me once in a while, the staff has help trimmed his beak for me and helped with any bird maintenance issues I have had several times now..for free! One time I returned home from work and found blood on the birds cage and foot, yes I freaked out. Instead of going to the birdie hospital I went here first and luckily... Turned out the split in the birds claw was nothing major. We left with a small hand made cast for it to heal and I saved some money I'm sure. Because, of all this and the great people that run this business I logged onto Yelp to show my appreciation to the business anyway I can. Most pet shops are franchise owned and it's good to support the passionate self employed owners. We bought a canary and a bird cage from Pete's about a year and a half ago, and we have been going back ever since for all of our canary's needs - food, toys, supplies, and getting his nails clipped. I can't say enough good things about Pete and his colleagues - they clearly are experts in birds, their prices are always very reasonable (much lower than the large chain pet stores), and their customer service is excellent. When I first walked into Pete's on a whim, I was eyeing the black-and-yellow canaries but went home without buying to think about it overnight. When I came back the next day, Pete recognized me right away and told me he had a black-and-yellow canary set aside for me (even without my having asked for him to do this! it's like he just knew I'd be back!) and he assured me this was the canary for me and that the canary was a good singer - Pete couldn't have been more right about all of that! We love this canary and he is indeed an excellent singer - he has brought us so much joy. I have since called Pete more than once in a panic because I was concerned about the canary (he stopped taking baths for a while, he fell off his perch once, he was molting out of season, he was acting aggressive toward his toys, he was shredding the paper on the bottom of his cage, etc.) and every time Pete gave good advice and reassured me that everything would be fine (and it was!). Pete has taught me a lot about canary behavior in different seasons of the year and has always been patient and kind even when I've been a worry-wart! We are very grateful to him and we feel very blessed that we just happened to wander into his store. I highly recommend Pete's Bird Garden! read more
