I've decided no brewery... no matter how amazing their beer is... will ever get above 3 stars from me anymore. Drinking establishments are no longer sacred places for adult fun and gatherings. Every brewery has now become a place for birthers to bring their spawn to run around screaming while we all try to enjoy drinks. I'm advocating for adult only Days, since apparently "family days" seem to be a thing now. Last thing we all want is a 4 year old screaming in our ears while trying to enjoy a quality local beer. Fun little brewery on our way back from a day of adventure. Loved the white washed decor - shiplap-ish. Wild Blue Yonder serves great food along with yummy craft beer. They also have a great outdoor patio / beer garden, much bigger than we expected. Lots of seating options and several games of corn hole happening. There was also live music inside - we enjoyed a little of both. So glad we stopped in. Not friendly toward pregnant women. I could only stomach the simple grilled cheese (vs the entree version with the stronger aromatic cheeses, egg, and bacon) and because it's on the kid's menu, the manager wouldn't let me order it. He absolutely refused and showed no understanding of the situation. Additionally, the host asked to seat the three of us in a two-top making dining difficult for 2 adults and an active toddler. We had to ask to push the two tops together for adequate space. While the host did ask, seating 3 at a 2 top shouldn't even be an option/part of their training. Somehow this place slipped our notice until I had Mother's Day Brunch at Purgatory Winery across the street. After a long day of hiking at Garden of the Gods, we decided to stop here for dinner. I have to say there was nothing nicer then a quality craft beer & some good food on their front patio people & dog watching on Memorial Day weekend. I tried the Chocolate Stout & my husband tried one of their light beers. For dinner I had the delicious buffalo chicken mac & cheese & my husband had the pulled pork sandwich with fries. There was a little mix up in that they brought him the fried chicken sandwich instead. This should've dropped the rating to a 4/5 star joint but the waiter was so nice for the entirety of our meal that I have to bump it to a 5/5 rating. They even let us take the chicken sandwich home since it's not like they can serve it. Not my usual go to menu item but having it for lunch the next day I was impressed with the texture & loved the spicy slaw! Came here for lunch during a summer afternoon on a Saturday. Ambiance was nice and casual and restaurant was full. Drinks: Frojito Slushy $9 - it was refreshing but too sour and acidic for me. Gave me acid reflux Beer - Peach Buzz and thunderbird IPA - peach buzz was tasty but on the warm side . the Thunderbird ipa was colder which made it taste crisper and tastier. Pineapple after taste! Food: Chicken sandwich with house chips - the chicken was super moist and crunch it was delicious. Served on brioche with tomato, bacon, pickles. Overall a yummy sandwich but it needed a sauce or some mayo or something. They have an option of adding a sauce on the menu for additional fee but it really should come with? Otherwise it was a good price for such a large portion! Husband got the same but with fries and added Buffalo sauce on the side. He didn't like the fries they were mushy and not crispy. I have to say that first off, I didn't realize this is a Veteran owned restaurant and that just makes me even more happy to write a glowing review. I came here with a friend on a Saturday evening and almost all the tables were taken--always a good sign. Luckily, we found two seats at the bar and settled on in. The ambiance here was hip and fun. There were lots of people enjoying drinks and food and it was just super inviting once we walked in. To start off the evening, my friend and I decided to order the fried cheese curds with a side of garlic lemon aioli. This was so delicious! Perfectly crispy on the outside and ooey gooey cheesy on the inside. I like that the breading wasn't too heavy either. We then both decided to order the Mac and cheese topped with BBQ Pork (as this was on special). This was the best decision of the night! The pulled pork was flavorful, moist and added such great texture to the Mac and cheese. I also liked that they topped it off with bbq sauce which added a tangy element. Simply amazing! We ordered a few beers I can't exactly recall, just that they were IPAs. I really enjoyed them and can't wait to try out more the next time I'm in Castle Rock. We have been paying customers since the brewery opened. We have always enjoyed the food, beer and ambiance...however, the service has never been great, and unfortunately seems to continually get worse. Last Saturday, was yet again a terrible experience. Our server seemed very annoyed, just short of an eye roll that she was having to work. Our order was simple, but she displayed very rude mannerisms and not at all attentive to our table. I have never been here before but I came with a group of coworkers on Friday. They had a mock tail that's was perfect for me! Cranberry juice, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine. Their appetizers were perfect bar food! We ordered sweet potato fries, truffle fries, and cheese curds. I really wish this place was as a good as it used to be. In 2020 it was fantastic. I've had good and bad moments since then but the last 3 have been pretty bad. The chicken sandwich is so incredibly dry and burnt, I've tried it on 2 different occasions and it's awful. The beers have changed. The portions have gotten so much smaller. The cheese curds are good but it's a tiny bowl now. The last time we came, my sandwich was basically inedible and had to have it refunded and go somewhere else. Now we say never again will we come. I love the outside patio and the theme but it's really gone downhill unfortunately. We've given it chance after chance but it's never consistent enough and with food being so expensive, I won't be spending my money somewhere where it's not worth it. Great place to grab a drink and bite with friends. I like the modern industrial look of the brewery and along with a long bar and tables to sit at. They have a nice variety on the menu for both drinks and food. I got the Naughty Elf which was a really good winter warmer and my friend had the Road to Nowhere Robust Porter. They also offer wine and mix drinks which I would like to try next time. For snack we shared the calamari which was delicious it was perfectly seasoned on top of mix greens which paired well with the fried squid. Our waitress also had no problem splitting our bill and made our transactions easy at the table with her tablet. I look forward to visiting again when I'm in the castle rock area and would recommend this establishment to family and friends. Sill love this place! If I understand correctly, this fine establishment is owned by a couple Air Force Veteran brothers, so the theme is Flying. Our enthusiastic waitress explained that the bar is a large world map, you have to look closely to tell, but very nice touch. And several of their brews are aviation theme names. Returned again and sat outside on their quiet lovely shaded (mostly) patio. Server was excellent, friendly, attentive and engaging. She watched another customer's dog while he went to restroom - what service! Bavarian pretzel was not great, cheese curds which we ordered last time a better option. So which is worse, too many carbs or fried food!. Beer was good. Had the Marzen style and friend enjoyed the craft brew with ginger which had great aroma. Beet salad was tasty, not much beet in the salad but ok cause I don't love beets. Friends had burgers with home made chips they enjoyed. There are at least 2 other microbreweries in walking distance and of the 3, Wild Blue Yonder is our favorite for beer, setting either indoor or out, noise level & music selection and again their beer. One request would be to be able to have water from a tap or filter. Their water station is water from large refillable plastic 'construction site type' barrels. Went here on 6/6/21. Our first time here. This brewery has a lot of space. A lot of tables inside and a lot of tables outside. In front is a smaller patio, then in back is a larger patio. They are dog friendly. They are a restaurant also. We did not order food but it all looked good. All the bartenders were very friendly throughout our visit. We tried the Single Hop IPA, the Belgian Dark and the Peanut Butter Stout. All the beers were very good. Will def be back. Cheers! read more

This place is AWESOME! Not only was the staff super friendly, but Kallie was a great waitress and took care of all of our needs. She even offered to take the family photo for us when she saw us trying to take a selfie. Our food was so good we forgot to take a photo of it. We got the green pork chili, the Gouda grilled cheese, the cheese curds, sweet potato fries, las cruces burger, and the beet salad. All was super good. We have been here twice, once with kids and once without. The first time was about a month ago, we sat on the patio and had chips & beer! Good time! Beer was great! We went with kids about a week ago. It's like something shifted there, staff wasn't unfriendly by all means, but the energy was off. No one on the staff seemed happy to be there and our food was not very good. They had signs everywhere about kids staying in place/no running around, more signs about not doing this or that, stay out of the garden, etc. iSo obviously something happened. No big deal, we get it, you have to protect your business. Cool. However, the signage just seems a bit unprofessional if you ask me and it also is at the top of their mobile menu. Again, I believe something happened and they just have to protect the business, but when we walked in we immediately felt not welcome as a family. We asked to sit outside and were told they were working on closing it down, so I asked again and we were able to sit outside. Then, several other people were seated after us. Must have been because we had a 5 year old with us. We gave our son the run down and he was well behaved. He at one point got up to walk around the table to me and two people were watching him very closely to make sure he didn't wander into the grass area. As a mom, again, made me feel not welcomed. I would just say if you have kids that are on the move, and like to run around outside at a brewery don't go here, go when you want to have beers with friends or your spouse or if you have an infant. We have no problem respecting the policy in place, however we do have a problem being somewhere we do not feel welcome as a family. read more

Great place for a pint and maybe a bite. There's plenty of creativity going here for their beers. Nothing super fancy on the food and it's a little pricey but all of us ate well. Got the Avocado BLT with turkey. It's the kinda sandwich you'd probably make at home. This one comes with some standard restaurant fries and all the microbrews you can drink though so that's a plus. Even better that you don't have to make it yourself. Just kick back with your drink of choice and hang out with some friends. As for those beers, you'll find a variety of styles and ABVs. They also have cider, wine, and cocktails if beer isn't your thing. Maybe not the ideal place to go if that isn't your thing though. Beer is kinda what they do. read more

Literally can't explain how happy I get when I find a brewery with fantastic beer and a lovely menu to match. We finished a nearby hike and immediately headed over to Wild Blue Yonder for some drinks and a late lunch. I was surprised to find this brewery also offers alcoholic slushees (my fav) and cocktails in addition to beer. I ordered the gin strawberry slushee, and immediately fell in love. It's such a yummy drink that definitely holds a kick, don't get me wrong, it's strong! My fiancé ordered the Aim High Amber - and highly recommends it. For food, we started with the jalapeño pretzel - no complaints here, so so good. Next, I ordered the Peccane Hathaway salad and he got the Friend Chicken Sandwich. I loved my salad as it came with a mix of great flavors and I was able to customize/substitute a few toppings. My fiancé enjoyed his sandwich and while he felt it was a bit over breaded (he's a stickler about southern style food), he still ate the whole thing. First time to this joint. Sunday evening for dinner around 6pm and it was half empty. Everyone working there was super friendly and attentive. The ambiance is very nice. The decorations are balanced and pleasing. It's nice to NOT have the music blaring so loud you can't hear your friends or family talking. We went to 10 Barrel on Saturday and it was insanely loud. Not the people but the music. Maybe I'm getting too old? The food came quick! And it was real good. Regular burger that they had to customize for a picky person. French dip was one of the best I've had. Not just thinly sliced meat but there was another herbal flavor on it. Pastrami sandwich was real good and the kids LOVED the plain Mac n cheese. I ordered the las cruces burger, which I enjoyed, and the fries were really good! I had the twigs and berries sour beer which was also pretty good, and everyone else loved their beers as well! I have to take points off because there were absolutely no COVID protocols happening, I'm talking really close tables, crowded bathrooms, and no masks for any staff members. I did not see one mask in the whole space besides the ones we were wearing, and as a paying customer that wants to feel at least somewhat protected, I was really dissatisfied. On another note, one member of my party ordered the po boy, which he really did not like, and as someone originally from the south, I could tell that that was no po boy, and is better off off the menu. I've never felt more ripped off in my life than the 2 times I've been to this restaurant. They want you to believe they are a super high quality restaurant, but the food quality has been mid level both times! The beers is wayyy over priced like they are selling other peoples beer not brewing their own. Both time I went during happy hour and picked happy hour beers to be charged full price. Not worth asking for the happy hour pricing or coming back. Service was decent but the first time I went I hear a couple complain about their bill and the staff was having a day making fun of them for "being poor". Located right on Wilcox in downtown Castle Rock, Wild Blue Yonder has remodeled an old Victorian-style building into a modern, thriving brewery. They blend a mix of sidewalk/patio seating, with a large indoor area (mainly bar seating and high-top tables), plus a nice shaded outdoor area that includes yard games and plenty of room for events. The beer is good, and so is the menu. There are plenty of beers to try, and I'd say they profile a much more diverse menu of beers on tap than most places. I navigate to the IPA's which are great, but this is a good place to expand your palate and enjoy some different options. They have a nice variety of food. My go-to dishes are the fried cheese curds as an appetizer, the classic poutine, and the green chili burger. The bar has a couple of nice TV's to watch sports. Really disappointing food. No squeek to the cheese curds. Fried cheese curds were dull and bland. My wife's Gouda shoulda woulda grilled cheese was great, the fries were meh. My las cruces burger was meh, the homemade chips were disappointing and overcooked. I was excited to see poutine on the menu, but the pictures were wholly unappetizing. A couple of the beers were good, a couple were not. Night-light dark lager started out strong but finished watery and burnt. The winter warmer was quite good. The Hefeweizen was a bland, watery mess. Shortchanged. So here is how it went down. Before a dinner reservation nearby, we sat down at the counter and ordered two drinks and a Bavarian pretzel so as to not drink on an empty stomach. The two drinks came right away but the pre-baked pretzel took like 25 minutes to come out. The bar was like 10% full so that was not it. We even had to ask what happened to the prezel before it was served. So by then we were in real hurry to make it to our reservation and more or less just wrapped up the pretzel so we could leave. We asked for the bill and The waiter came up with the electronic order pad and told us the total, no paper copy was given. We paid with cash, got four bills in change, left a $5 tip on the bar counter and hurried out. When I later checked my money clip there was three dollar bills folded together but separate from my twenties. Should have been $7 bucks not $3. One way or another, we were shortchanged. No way to be sure how that happened since no receipt was given, one idea is that because of electronic payment systems often ask for a tip before service is rendered, waiters now seem to expect a tip up front from cash customers without earning it with good service. So perhaps this leads to taking tips without saying anything to the customer. WBY has now agreed to avoid confusion and bad feelings that paper copies of the tab will be given out to all customers. read more

The waitress that I was pawned off on since the first guy was to busy and she was "bored" didn't care and came by once the entire meal. She asked after my meal was done and presenting the check (15 minutes after dishes all stacked and put on the other side of the table) if I would like another beer. I would have like one half way through dinner when my glass was empty. Not 15 minutes after everything is done and I am ready to walk out. Thought I had been abandoned and could have walked out without paying and nobody would have noticed. Mixed feelings on this place and I hope they get their act together. We had a great meal here and I do recommend this place for meals and beers. We arrived shortly before the football game last weekend and were surprised to see the place not full. The inside looks trendy and smart. With a long bar and plenty of tables (both inside and out) I could see that this place has plenty of room when the weather is nice. We seated ourselves and were quickly helped by a server. We all started with flights and the poutine. Tip- the poutine is enough as an appetizer for four people. My favorite beers were Vlad the Imperial and the Mocha on Nitro. I am normally an IPA drinker but these two beers had complexity and flavor. We also had the cheese curds which reminded me of little cheese sticks. These with the roasted garlic sauce were my favorite part of the meal. We ended up ordering soups and sandwiches as well. The Cuban with housemade chips was really good. Overall they had enough TVs to watch the game. The atmosphere was trendy, the food was delicious, and the beer was great as well.
