I immediately went to freshen up after being shown to my table. I came back to my table a couple minutes later, but it must've taken them at least 10 minutes to come from my order. It's a good thing I was wearing a sweater because it was so cold in there. The coldness made it really uncomfortable to sit and enjoy my meal. First time here in several months. I went with my standard Kick'n chicken dish. This version was much more heavily seasoned than previous versions have been. It definitely had a kick to it, even without using much of the sauce on the side. Vegetables were good, but when they put the chicken on top of the fries, those end up getting a little soggy. Wanting to try something different, one daughter had the grilled chicken sandwich. While she wasn't terribly impressed at the start, the more she ate, the more she approved, deeming it to be "fine" and something she'd likely get again. The other daughter, also wanting something different, had the green chili burrito. She wasn't as impressed with the dish, saying it didn't have much taste, even after adding good amounts of salt and pepper. The burrito was described as "mid", which I guess means 'not very good.' Doubtful she orders this again. Service was fine at the start, but somewhat sporadic as the meal progressed. I just noticed the brewery calls itself "...cozy...". It isn't close to cozy and in fact can be quite loud due to voluminous ceilings, a huge room, and, uh, beer. We finished up a couple appointments in town and dropped by for dinner. My wife had a decent Chardonnay and I had their stout. My wife ordered the Turkey Melt and I ordered the Chicken Alfredo. Both pretty much standard fare. Service was prompt and continued so throughout. While not necessarily outstanding they are comfortably consistent. read more

Took a customer here for a late lunch early dinner. The ambience was nice and quiet so not loud like a typical bar. We opted to try a couple of different appetizers that include included the chips and queso as well as the knots with a side of jalapeño soup for dipping. The knots were also filled with a cheese and it was absolutely delicious, even without the mustard or soup for dipping. The chips and queso are basic and nothing special. I also opted to try the Sriracha chili burger and it had a great flavor, but felt it was lacking some type of salt. However, the fries were absolutely delicious. Was in town for business and found this place a very short walk away. From the front this place had the look of a small brewery. Once you inter the door this place is HUGE!!!! There is a large size bar and that seems small in the room. We asked staff for recommendations on food and beer. There is a good selection of beers that are brewed by the company. The few we tried we very good, The Jorts IPA is on my top 5 IPA's list now. It was super good. I ordered the Meatloaf dinner which did't mention mushrooms on the description, but I was able to scrap them off and someone else at the table ate them. He did say they were some really good mushrooms. The meatloaf was a good size and had a tasty glaze drizzled over the top. If I am back in the area I would like to try out some more of the menu. read more

We've been to the Rockyard several times in the past three years, and for the most part we've been satisfied with the food and service. Unfortunately, our latest visit this evening (for a birthday celebration) was very disappointing to say the least. The server was fine but several of the food items were less than satisfactory. Three of our guests ordered medium rare burgers (two of them doubles) and they all came well done. One of the burger orders came out wrong TWICE! Not sure what the problem is in the kitchen unless some of the cooks can't read English! We were there over 2 1/2 hours and everything we ordered: five apps, 6 entrees and three desserts took FOREVER to come out to the table. Needless to say, with the rising costs of restaurant visits establishments need to insure that orders are what they should be, and come out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Not sure if there is a manager onsite at the time, but due to the fact that it was a special occasion, we chose not to cause a scene. A large space with a robust menu and some pretty good (but not amazing) food and great service. The menu had plenty of options to satisfy our needs and while the food was good it did not blow me away either. The portion sizes were generous but had a price that was a bit high for the quality Our. Server was wonderful and prompt as well. Although the biggest issue i had was I ended up taking [my first] bite of my wrap and found a twisty metal piece about 2 inches long in it. I dined at Rockyard last night with a friend and tried a different dish. I ordered the steak salad and it was gooood! It's a perfect sized portion and with a nice cut of meat. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was grilled perfectly. Rockyard salads are good so I was expecting a nice meal. It didn't disappoint! Plenty of greens and tomatoes. They drizzle a nice balsamic vinegar over the salad. They offer you a choice of vinaigrette or blue cheese. I chose blue cheese and didn't disappoint! I would definitely order the steak salad again. Service was average. I liked that our waiter asked if I wanted another refill of my beverage after I finished eating. Had plenty of beverage while eating. Our waiter also checked on us towards the end of our meal. It could've been a little earlier. However, he was busy so I understand. I will most likely dine here again. Came here for lunch on a Thursday and the service couldn't have been better. The server totally indulged my two lunch companions who were interested in trying several of the brews on tap. She was well-versed in all the different beers as well as the food offerings. Since it was our first time, we told her which items we were thinking of ordering and she gave us her honest opinion of each. She knew her stuff! I got the meatloaf, which was huge and excellent (I took almost half of it home) loved the crunchy fried onions on top, and the two guys I was with had the Jalapeño burger and the French Dip (the server brought a side of horseradish to go with it!) I had the spinach salad it had spinach blue cheese chunks with some bacon sprinkled in. I was super fresh and I did enjoy / eat it all. The place was busy and there was a large party in there. The Waitress was great she came by and brought more Ice tea. She didn't come over in the middle of my first bite with the old how is it bs. The only thing is -for money it was over priced. I'm writing this review for my parents in their 80s who aren't exactly 'computer literate'. My parents and I had dinner at Rockyard on Sept. 12th, and my parents, who are on a fixed retirement income and only eat out as a 'treat', paid for the meal, $103.48 (receipt attached). They also, as they always do, left a $25 cash tip on the table for the server as they are 'old school' and believe that 'cash is king' and that servers prefer cash to credit card tips to avoid credit card charges, etc. My father always writes "Tip on table", and the amount for the meal, less tip, on the total line of the credit card charge slip. A month later, when reviewing their back statement, the charge processed and posted by the bank on Sept. 14th was in the amount of $128.48. So not only did they get a $25.00 cash tip but also ran $25.00 on the credit card, which was posted. While Rockyard has always had good food and beer options and a family-friendly atmosphere, it's not worthy of a 50% tip. Unfortunately, they cannot dispute the charge because the bank needs the restaurant's credit card charge slip and they obviously do not have it. So enjoy good food and beer at Rockyard but I strongly suggest not tipping in cash and leaving it on your card in order to avoid double charged tips. My parents hate to do it but they view it as having 'pre-paid' a tip for their next visit and, despite the fact that the server will end up being 'shorted', they feel as if they unknowingly and without authorization double-tipped the previous server. I have edited this to be a 'four star' as my parents notified me that their November bank statement had a $25 credit applied from Rockyard Brewing, so it seems things have been remedied. Don't know if it was because of the review or if the bank addressed it when they processed credit card charges but all is now well. Only seemed appropriate to update this. read more

The prices have gotten out of site! There were only a couple of tables when we arrived for lunch today, and it's likely because of the exorbitant prices. We asked if they had specials, and they told us they did for St. Patrick's Day, but not today. When everyone is talking about affordability, they're killing their business with their pricing. Chili's has a 3 for me for 10.99, and some variations for a dollar or two more. Longhorn has a lunch menu starting at 10.99 as well. I was in the restaurant business for over 40 years, and your menu prices are nuts! I won't be back... ever! We left without ordering and went to a competitor. read more

My friends and I stopped in yesterday for a bite and a beer. I'm rarely ever in Castle Rock but this place looked busy which is always a good sign the "locals" like it. The building is large, beautiful, clean and x well kept. There is oodels of secure private parking in a private lot. The staff is extremely pleasant and the food is first rate. Our sever, a professional and efficient man named Joseph was on top of everything. Our burgers and pulled pork sandwiches were fantastic and their French fries were superb. Even the restrooms were clean. My only complaint? The bill, I felt, was high for what we got. Yea, the food was good but it wasn't "that" good as to justify 100 dollar bill for three people. Listen, this place is awesome. If you're looking for a bite and a beer that's got some passion in it, look no further. I seriously am impressed. Tonight I wanted to go outside the box and have something with its own touch, and a nice beer to go with it at a fair price. Walked down the street from my hotel and had a "New thang" IPA and a firebird burger with a pan cookie. Everything I ate had a unique delivery and left me very satisfied. Additionally, the atmosphere was great. Low volume but plenty of entertainment (they have all the sports and important events on over 5+ TVs) I was able to really enjoy myself while also feeling like a part of a community loved establishment. Lastly, service was top notch here. I had Brian as a server and I was very well take care of. Swung by to check on me plenty and make sure I was in good shape while balancing the rest of his customers. Absolutely professional and swift customer service. All of the burgers can be made with a black bean patty and they offered veggie lettuce wraps. If you read a lot of my reviews, you'll notice I mostly only write reviews when I'm not a happy camper. However, the Rocky Yard never ceases to amaze us. My wife just mentioned that we have never had a bad meal here. Not with guests, not by ourselves, never. It is now December and we have been coming here since June since we are new to the area. We have eaten here at least 12 times and find it hard to go anywhere else. We have pretty much had everything on the menu by this point. The buffalo chicken salad is phenomenal. The burgers are great and can be ordered the way you want them done . The Reuben is to die for and the wings are excellent. The chicken quesadilla is very well seasoned flavored and filling. The kids meals portions are large. The mac & cheese is way better than anything that You'll find anywhere else. There's really nothing that I could say about this restaurant that's bad. We honestly have never had a bad meal here. Did I mention the service? I think you get it... I hope this review doesn't make it harder for me to get a table. read more

I went to Rockyard to watch an Avalanche game and try their beers. The overall restaurant is large and you have plenty of room, I also loved that they put the major games on TVs throughout the restaurant, making it a great spot to go watch our Colorado TVs. The service was great, and they kept coming to check if we needed anything, so no complaints on that. The sirloin did need some extra seasoning, so I'm taking one star off for it being fairly bland, but the other food (burgers, cheese curds, Buffalo chicken salad) were all excellent. Had zero expectations stopping here after a hike, but we were looking for a cold beer and a snack and so glad we stopped here! They have a selection of local beers - we surprisingly enjoyed their sour best of all. It's tart but not overly fruity or sweet. Their hazy finishes more like a west coast IPA than a NE style, and their normal IPA was crisp and refreshing. We ordered a burger and the chicken sandwich. Both exceeded our expectations for yum-factor. The burger was cooked as I ordered it, with lettuce and onions on top. What I thought was really unique were your options to customize the bun. You could substitute for no bun, a gluten free bun, or lettuce wraps. I opted for the oversized, soft gluten-y bun and it was delicious. The fries are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. They're wide-cut so you can really taste the potato, which I loved. We finished lunch up with the warm chocolate chip cookie and my only recommendation here is a little less ice cream. The cookie is cooked to order and brought out in its cooking dish with the ice cream on top. The ice cream quickly melted and turned the dish into cookie soup - I normally don't mind this, but there was so much ice cream it actually overwhelmed the cookie. So, next time I might order it with ice cream on the side to make it perfect. Our waitress was attentive and patient with us and helped speed up our lunch so we could get out before our small child had a meltdown. The space was large but not too loud with tons of TVs with various sports games playing. Overall, great experience! Would definitely go back. read more

I want to like this place. I really do, but there's just so many things falling through the cracks. First of all, get some girls in front. I'm saying this as a former restaurant hostess and current woman. This is a brewery. Men drink beer here. Men like pretty girls. Want to make more money? Get rid of the teenage boys at the host stand and hire some friendly girls. I'm speaking from experience. Thank me later. Also, the service is just so meh. Tonight I watched a couple get sat in the bar area, and attempt to flag down a server for at least 5 minutes before they got up and left. This is money they took with them. This is money the restaurant missed out on. This is money the server likely needed. All because nobody even knew this couple existed. What a bummer. The food is decent, but the presentation is so tragic. Don't just slap the fries on the plate. Make them look like you tried. Put them in a dish or a sliver sleeve and your presentation factor goes up exponentially. Always bring extra ranch. Don't give me silverware in a plastic fry container. Top off my water. It's the little things. The salads? Bro, cut the tomatoes and cucumber for your patrons. It's crazy that they come in big slices and we have to cut them up. Listen, I don't want to do work. That's why I'm at a restaurant in the first place. Make this easy on me. I'm probably tired and just want to be home in pajamas while I wait for baseball practice to end. Throw tired parents a bone, will ya? Also, the busboy who cut me off while walking to the bathroom needs to learn how to say, "excuse me." He saw me, I stopped dead in my tracks while he cut me off to wipe a table. Just basic etiquette goes a long way. And please stock your toilet seat liners. Those are clutch. And to the manager reading this and rolling your eyes, I get it. I hate my job too, but just a few little tweaks mean the difference between being known for good food and service, and barely scraping by. A Coworker and I stopped in for an early dinner while working in the Castle rock area. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. We sat at the bar vs a table. After discussing the menu the bar tender recommended the meatloaf. When the plate arrived I thought they had given me an entire loaf! The portion was at least an inch think resting on a bed of garlic cheesy mashed potatoes, the entire plate was topped with a warm mushroom gravy topped with French grilled onions. The meat was nice and tender and reminded me of my mothers meatloaf. Let's just say the chef knocked it out of the park on this plate! If you're looking for some great brews and some down right tasty comfort food. This is the place you need to put on your list when you're in the Castle Rock area. read more

This place is one of our TOP Friday night restaurants! We are always greeted with a friendly smile by the hostess crew :) and usually do not have a wait for a table. The ambiance is always lively but never too much. The service is always great, cannot say I have experienced a bad server in the last 15 visits or so. I started off with a local craft beer (forgot the name, it was new) and it tasted better than my usual lil tooth. Appetizer was the cheese curds (for the love of all things holy, try these with the CARAMEL!) Entrees were the Cajun Chicken Pasta and the Cobb Salad with chili ranch. I literally do not have words that will describe how good these two dishes are. Best I can offer is I have seldom tried anything else in the dozens of visits here. The blackened chicken is cooked to perfection and the sauce is just to die for. The garlic toast makes a perfect complement to the dish. This place hit the spot! I got a cup of their Cream of Jalepeño soup which was incredible and the blackened chicken Cajun pasta. The bread that came with the pasta was perfectly toasted and was to die for when you use it to soak up the pasta sauce.
