Hiking with Bucky made our day!
    Kerri A.

My husband and I were so happy we went on this hike with Stuart (our guide), Bucky the buck-toothed wonder llama, and his other furry friends! From the get go, Stuart had everything covered, so all we had to be concerned with was enjoying a unique adventure in the Columbine Canyon Carson National Forest. We were introduced to the llamas right from the start and were encouraged to love on them while allowing them to get to know us too. It was a great reciprocal relationship whereby everyone in the group got to appreciate the uniqueness and endearing qualities of the llamas as we led them along. Likewise, the llamas learned to trust and appreciate their "human" (all the while enjoying the beauty of our natural, untouched surroundings of our high elevation hike!). When we reached our final point on the way up, we stopped for our delicious lunch which Stuart had set up on his portable picnic table. Such good eats! Sliced turkey, cheeses, a variety of bread, greens with toppings, spreads and potato salad. Plenty to drink and a bonus dessert of soft batch cookies. All along the way Stuart was sure to interact and get to know all of the trekkers. He provided extra care to those who may still be adjusting to the high altitude of the region and tailored our experience so that all age groups and levels could get the most out of our day together. He also taught us a lot about our surroundings and even threw in a couple of corny, but funny jokes here and there to keep us laughing :-D What a memorable day we had! Such a one-of-a-kind experience that I'd recommend to animal lovers and those who enjoy being out in the pristine wilderness. Thank you so much Stuart, and of course many thanks to our llama friends who were right along there with us the whole way! We love you Bucky!

This is an amazing day outing! Stuart and his llamas are awesome! You hike through the beautiful Carson National Forest and have lunch in a small meadow. While you are hiking you walk a llama on a lead and spend some great quality time with them. Stuart teaches you about llamas, the forest, and the history of the area. If you are going to be in or near Taos you have to do this!

This is a must do activity if you are staying in the Taos area. We have hiked six times with Wild Earth and we never miss an opportunity to get out on the trail with Stuart and the "boys". This year we hiked the Columbine Trail, which is a great trail for people of many ages. Less than 4 miles, round trip, with a delicious and fresh lunch served at a mountain meadow. Stuart is an excellent guide, so knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. He really gets to know his guests and puts everyone at ease. But, the best part is the llamas. They are sweet, fascinating animals with quirky personalities that will steal your heart. They are the perfect trail companions, so what are you waiting for?

We had an INCREDIBLE experience with Stuart. My husband sought out a means to go snowshoeing for our anniversary (something I've been pining to do for four years) and came across Taos Snowshoe Adventures & Wild Earth Llama Adventures. Being first-timers, we were stoked that the equipment was provided and that we'd have a guide ready to show us proper technique and all that jazz. Stuart felt like a long lost friend; he was so down-to-earth, authentic, and helpful. He's exactly what you want in a guide. Our trek took about five hours and included hot chocolate and cider, a snack, and a hot lunch just off the trail. With the combination of mind-blowing scenery, a fantastic soul to guide us along, and all the resources to journey across the snow, we were blown away. We would absolutely do this again and want to try one of his llama spring/summer trips too! All in all, Taos Snowshoe Adventures provides an outdoor experience that truly feeds the soul. Thanks, Stuart!!!

If you are on the fence about booking the llama trek, DO IT. I went today, and WOW what a fantastic experience!!! It was raining cats and dogs, and Stuart had his finger on the pulse of our group of 11 from the start. He wanted to be sure we were all ready to push through the damp weather and move along with our hike? We were!! Thank goodness for rain ponchos, hats and gloves (they really saved the day). Unfortunately our hike was eventually cut short due to that rain - it had washed out a bridge that we needed to pass over the creek - and although Stuart indicated that 'maybe' we could make it by walking barefoot across the rushing waters, he understandably chose not to risk our safety. Instead, we tossed up a tarp, and sat down for our delicious lunch in the woods. Stuart is passionate and knowledgeable about both the outdoors and his llamas. He ensures each animal is introduced to the group, and even requests your help saddling/packing them up with gear. He makes sure you "show them love" too, which equals lots of treats for those furry boys! It is well deserved, because they carry ALL of your stuff! I loved hearing all of the Llama stories: from which of them must lead the pack on the hike, to why they spit :) I can't wait to go back. My time with our gracious guide and the llamas flew by, in a beautiful way.

My wife purchased the lunch with llamas experience for me for my birthday as part of a Taos weekend adventure. As a budding naturalist and an environmental scientist, I was super excited to hear what Stuart had to say about this beautiful mountain environment. My wife is an animal lover as well but not a scientist. Stuart did an amazing job of catering to both of our interests as well as making a unique connection with every one of the 12 people on the tour (ages 3 to 65). He even helped a young mother carry her 3 year old on his shoulders throughout the hike, taking extra care to entertain and educate him along the way. Now... the llamas! They were amazing, adorable and full of personality. I have been on countless guided hikes with naturalists and scientists and none of them can compare to the fun and comforting company of your own llama as a guide, companion and stuff carrier. All of Stuart's llamas are rescued and you can see the connection he has made with each of them. Two thumbs up, highly recommend!

amazing. amazing. amazing!!!!!! this might be one of the coolest things that i have ever been a part of!!!!!!!! when we arrived at the place where we left from, we learned about the llamas, wilderness and where we would be hiking from our friendly guide, stewart. stewart showed us exactly what to do and how to handle any situation that would potentially be thrown our way. stewart was friendly, knowledgeable and provided us with ample opportunity to try different types of berries that he was able to pick up along the way. we were able to get raspberries, double berries, oregano, and more. once we arrived at the lunch site (we did the lunch with a llama) stewart showed us how to pick and identify oregano plants, which he sliced up and put on top of our onions and tomatoes that we ate for lunch. i have no negative comments. absolutely nothing bad to say. 100% go if you are in the area. definitelt worth every penny. we were out the entire day with a skilled wilderness explorer who took us off the regularly beaten path and even went so far as to show us an abandoned mine! we are already thinking about going again and going on a longer trip!

I am going to start and finish this review with talking about our guide, Stuart. Because without mentioning the best most knowledgeable tour guide I've ever had would be a huge injustice. Ok, on to the Llamas. I went with my family of four, my 6yr old son, 11yr old daughter, and my wife and I are both 41 on March 12th, 2018 for spring break. Upon finding the starting location, the link on their website to the starting point on google maps was extremely helpful, we were immediately welcomed with open arms and the warm hearts of our guide, Stuart, and seven super sweet llamas. We packed our stuff on our two llamas, which would end up being led by our children. They were so pleased, as were we. The llamas were kind and very well behaved. As we hiked down to the Rio Grand river, Stuart educated us on all kinds of geologic, Native American, New Mexican, and other history. Our lunch prepared by Stuart was fantastic, healthy, and he accommodated my wife's gluten intolerance. Putting our feet in the icy waters was exhilarating. The scenery was beautiful. The llamas were hilarious at times, the way they sneezed, 'hopped' up ledges, and looked with their goofy huge bottom teeth. The weather was sunny and cool in the shade and warm in the sun. When we wrapped up our adventure, Stuart and the llamas posed for pics with our family. He even mailed us a bag we forgot within two days of us leaving it. I highly recommend this trip of a lifetime.

Today's hike! Loved every part of it!

Amazing! The views are absolutely breathtaking! Great for families, our girls had a blast leading their assigned Llamas on a hike. Thank you Stuart and Leah!!

Very hard to say goodbye post-hike!

I couldn't have been happier with Peter, his guides, or the tours they led us on. We all left with a deeper, richer understanding of and appreciation for Santa Fe. Highly recommend.

Our tour was interesting, funny, and interactive. Peter was excellent at managing our large and lively group, and balanced education with entertainment like the pro he is. I was particularly appreciative of the context he provided to us of the historical facts so that we could truly begin to understand Santa Fe's past and present. As a Bostonian, I was ready to fight when he started talking about oldest this and oldest that, and I left his tour far more aware of the huge blind spots my northeastern education left me with, although he started to help me fill them. Friends who were with other tour guides from the company similarly raved about their experience.
