Booth seating on the sides, and tables in the middle row that can be put together for larger groups. Quite busy on the weeknight that we went. Menu is small. One sheet with one side for drink and other side for food. Food items has various southeast and east Asian dishes. For appetizers, we tried chicken skewers, chicken wings, and the lettuce wraps. The skewers and wings were decent. The filling of the lettuce wrap had more liquid than expected so a little bit messy. Got their coconut martini which was pretty sweet. For mains, I got the seven-spice beef. It was mildly sweet, and since it's flank and not tenderized, so it was a little tough. Not really my cup of tea. They bring out plates of rice to share. Got chocolate mousse for dessert and it was alright. Most of the desserts were under $10 but portions are pretty small (one scoop of gelato or equivalent). Met a colleague here for happy hour. Came just before 5:00, no problem getting a table in the bar area. We were greeted immediately and despite what the last several reviews stated, the service here was great. Between the bartender and the waiter they were super attentive coming over to check on us. The happy hour drink menu has a great selection there were only four or five items on the happy hour food menu, but they all tasted great. We got two orders of the crispy Korean wings, two orders of the potstickers and an order of the cabbage salad. Highly recommend all of the appetizers that we tried. I am a regular take-out customer of the Bellevue Wild Ginger. In general their their staff is pleasant and food is tasty although not always consistent. My complaints are as follows: 1. There are very, very few items on the menu which are not spicy hot for people who cannot eat spicy food. 2. Some dishes are disgusting, one of them is the "Seven Flavor Beef". The restaurant itself was fairly quiet at the bar, with very few people seated, though the dining room was more active. Despite the lack of bar traffic, service was surprisingly slow, which was a bit frustrating. Food-wise, it was hit or miss. The vegetarian/tofu Pad Thai was very good and easily the highlight of the meal. The potstickers were also solid and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes fell short. The crispy wings were overcooked, dry, and lacking flavor, and the cabbage salad was completely bland. Overall, the food was just okay. A couple of standout items helped, but the slow service and several underwhelming dishes made this a pretty average experience. Wild Ginger is a long-standing Seattle staple, known for serving upscale Southeast Asian cuisine in the heart of Downtown and Bellevue. However, during my most recent lunch visit, I had one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences that I have had in a long time. Despite having a 12:30 PM reservation on a Monday and arriving promptly to a nearly empty dining room, it still took ten minutes just to be seated. The service was so lackluster that we seriously contemplated walking out multiple times. After being handed menus, we sat for fifteen minutes before a single staff member approached us. We had no water, no way to ask questions about the menu, and no server in sight. When our server finally did appear, he offered no apology or acknowledgment of the delay, nor did he bring water to the table. As for the menu itself, everything is really expensive. I understand Wild Ginger presents itself as an upscale restaurant, but nothing is really that special or fancy about it. All of the dishes are pretty standard and don't have any sort of creative twist. A chicken fried rice, one of the most basic dishes, is already 24 dollars. After tip and tax, that becomes 30 dollars just for fried rice. Also, having looked at pictures online, most of the portions looked really small for the price. Although some dishes sounded more interesting, I opted for the pad thai, simply because I wanted to ensure I would feel full after spending 30 dollars. After putting in our order, we waited another 40 minutes for the food to come out. There were only four of us dining, and each of us only ordered one dish, so there really wasn't a good reason for everything to take so long. The pad thai came out lukewarm. I didn't try everyone else's food, but I was severely disappointed by this. I imagine the food was sitting in the back for some time, getting cold. However, the taste and flavor of the pad thai wasn't bad. The noodles were bouncy and chewy with a nice crunchy contrast from the peanuts. The sauce was nice and tangy with a balanced sweet and citrus flavor that coated the noodles really well. This was the only redeeming factor of the entire experience. It ended up being a bit too much food, and I wanted to take it to go. Once again, our server was nowhere to be found. He wasn't the one to run our food to our table, and he never checked in on us at any point after we got our food. Since there was barely anyone at the restaurant, I was confused as to what he could have been doing. One busser came by our table to pick up some plates, and we asked him if he could bring us some boxes. He said he would, then disappeared and never came back. Eventually, it got so bad that we had to stand up and approach a staff member at the front to ask for boxes and the bill. Shortly after, our server came to our table and said he didn't know we were in a rush and offered to box our food up for us. But instead, we just asked him to bring the boxes to us and get us the check. Somehow, the whole experience just for lunch took right around two hours. I assume the restaurant was understaffed, but that doesn't excuse the complete lack of presence during the entire service. While the food itself remains decent, there are many other options that offer similar food with far better experiences for half the price. Especially for lunch, I wouldn't recommend Wild Ginger, and I won't be coming back any time soon. read more

My new go-to special occasion spot. Wild Ginger checks every box that I can think. The interior is moody and comfortable, the service is fast, and the staff are kind. We have tried every area of the menu and have been more than satisfied. I have to give a special shoutout to the butter chicken. One of our favorite happy hour spots in Bellevue. We enjoy both the food and cocktail selection. Our favorite foods to order are the Vietnamese Chicken Wings and the Tofu Phad Thai. I make it sound like I'm here all the time but I've only dined here like 3 or 4 times but seriously each time was excellent so I had to write a review. You can't go wrong if you order one of their classic dishes. I went for the 7 flavor beef and my husband got the lamb chops. We both loved our dishes. Meat was tender, well cooked, flavorful, presented nicely (see for yourself). Chicken potstickers were very good too. For dessert, we had the coconut sago (it's like a milky pudding). I liked it! I think their dessert menu could be improved to include some more interesting options. They mainly had gelatos and sorbets. Service was great. Our server was super friendly and nice. The Thai spring rolls were very nice, with lots of herbs and lettuce to wrap them with. The fried rice was another highlight, with lots of little pieces of Chinese sausage and topped with a fried egg. The 7 flavor beef was different than I remember, but it was tasty. I came with a group of 14 for a corporate dinner, and we were very well taken care of. Our reservation was originally for 12, but the hostess was very kind and quick to add another table for our extra two guests. For such a large party, our servers were quick to get our orders and the food and drinks came out quite fast. I started off with the Gimlet, which was our server's recommendation. It was really good and had a twist compared to classic gimlets with the addition of thai basil. My coworkers also enjoyed their drinks, which included from the bitter martini (grapefruit) and yuzu mule. For appetizers, we ordered the sea bass lettuce cups, chicken satay, and beef satay. Everything was so yummy and great texture, my favorite was definitely the chicken satay, it came with a great peanut sauce that was a little chunky (appreciated that it wasn't runny). We asked our waiter for help on how many dishes to order since we were going to originally do one dish per person, but the plates seemed quite large so we ended up sharing instead. The noodles are enough for 2 people and the mains enough for 1 to 1 1/2 people. Our end of the table (5 people) shared the Mongolian noodles with beef, butter chicken, seven flavor beef, duck, green beans, and chicken curry. My hands down favorite was the beef, but everything was very very good. The Mongolian noodles were really tasty and had a lot of veggies, but it was spicy so I'd caution if you aren't able to handle anything above mild. The duck came with really fluffy buns and a citrus glaze dip, which I really enjoyed. Some people found the duck to be bland, but I thought it was a nice change of pace compared to the other dishes that are very rich. A lot of people liked the butter chicken as well, and it was very flavorful but was not close to traditional butter chicken that you'd find at Indian restaurants. The green beans were very crunchy and had great flavor, could have used a little more salt but still really enjoyable. I had thought it would be too much food for us but it was the perfect amount and we finished almost everything, save for a couple of bites. Sammar and I visited the Wild Ginger in Bellevue this past Sunday for dinner. We ordered the Gluten-Free Chicken Wings and the Siam Lettuce Cups with Sea Bass and Jicama for our shared appetizers. Sammar had the Duck for her main, and I had the Sri Lankan Dahl (soup) for my main. We also ordered 3 pots of the delicious hot emerald blossom tea (which has jasmine in it - we both love jasmine), to share. The Siam Lettuce Cups were fantastic. I don't know how they manage to keep the jicama strips so crisp when they have so much yummy sauce all over them, but this flavor combination was super. The Wings were great, too. I rarely get to eat anything that is breaded, because breaded items almost always have gluten in them. It was thoughtful of the chefs to create a gluten-free breaded item like this, and the sauce with the wings was very flavorful. I'm not taking a star off for the fact that the Dahl wasn't really up to my standards, because I do not think that it is fair to compare their Dahl to the home-cooked Dahl of my friend Vineet's Indian Mother. She simmers hers for several hours, and hers is way better. I had expected this when I had decided to order the Dahl, but I was still a bit disappointed with it. However, it wasn't bad, just not as good as what I am used to eating in terms of Dahl. I'm also not taking a star off for the service - even though Sammar mentioned to me quietly that she felt that our waitress didn't like her. Sammar is extremely likable, and I was surprised that she felt this way, as she has never mentioned this to me about any other service person during any of our other get-togethers. Our waitress must have been pretty subtle about it if she really did feel that way, because I didn't notice anything overt in that respect. I thought the service was kind, welcoming and attentive, but obviously Sammar didn't agree. The ambiance was a bit on the austere side, but it was very clean, and the restrooms were lovely. Probably a 4.5 star experience for me, so I am rounding up to 5 stars. I want to eat those Siam Lettuce Cups again as soon as possible. read more

Terrible experience from start to finish. We replaced the sausage and shrimp fried rice with chicken fried rice, which should come with a sunny side up egg. When our dish arrived, the egg was missing. When we asked the waiter why, he brushed it off saying it was a "different dish." We asked to see it on the menu -- his response? "It's not on the menu." He also told us the charge would be less than the sausage and shrimp fried rice, but couldn't tell us how much. Fast forward to the bill -- we were charged the same exact price as the original dish, despite getting fewer ingredients. When we pointed this out, the manager came over, and instead of fixing the issue, he actually said he could "bring us an egg on our way out." An egg. On the way out. That's his idea of customer service. Completely insulting. Food was disappointing, service was dismissive, and management was downright rude. My husband bit his tongue to avoid an argument, but honestly this place isn't worth anyone's time or money. Sadly, this place is not what it used to be. I used to come here quarterly with coworkers, but then the pandemic happened and habits changed. I came here twice recently and was disappointed, but could not figure out why. Then I ate at La Mar down the road and figured it out. When I first started eating at Wild Ginger, the food was innovative and the experience was elevated. Now, it's just average. The menu is basically the same as it has always been so while other restaurants innovated and updated their menu to current modern fare, Wild Ginger fell behind. As far as the rest of the experience, the presentation was fine, but not memorable as it used to be and service was attentive and pleasant, but nothing spectacular. The bathroom was not clean, but it wasn't dirty either - there was just a lot more water splashed around than you would expect and the soap is industrial. I know the potential of this restaurant and want to continue loving it, but unless some passion and innovation is put in, its kind of at the level of Olive Garden.
