This is downtown Dubois, ID.. A quiet little town with amazing people living here!

Ok.. where to start??! The credit with getting me in the door goes to my brother-in-law Sean.. He stumbled across this place on his way to Polson MT up north with a moving van. The short story is that the van broke down in their parking lot and wouldn't start after he had lunch here. Anyway, I spent enough time with these fine folks to get a good feel for the town, the people in the town, and of course their food. Is all about the people as far as I'm concerned. Of course the food is quite good as well since this IS a food & restaurant review. But what really makes things stand out is the very friendly staff. On my way out of town I felt led to stop here again just a few days ago and yes I had dinner there. One of the ladies there, Danette, suggested the special of the day which was a very big sandwich and a bowl of soup. I ordered this at her suggestion and it arrived shortly thereafter. The sandwich was pretty big (lots of meat, spinach as I recall), and was just what I needed to fill me up. I don't recall right off the top of my head what flavor the soup was but it was hot and good and that's all that matters to me. Perhaps you're thinking this place is off the beaten track, but just humor me and give it a try. They offer lunch and breakfast too. Unfortunately I neglected to take any pics of the food or the restaurant, but did take a picture of the downtown area just past the restaurant. This is just one of those countless small towns within the fine US of A and it is loaded with amazing people that really set the stage for what this country is really about! Don't overlook this place or the fine people that reside here and call it "home"! I believe that you'll be blessed as I was for spending some time here. I will be back more on my way to visit my sister & brother-in-law in Montana in the future! God bless you all for reading this!

We have been on the road for almost 4 weeks and I can say without a doubt this was one of our top meals. We found it when passing through. It's a quaint, adorable restaurant with the sweetest owner. She was so kind to my wild animals that we call kids! My husband had the club sandwich he raved about and I had the special for the day, a turkey and provolone on a delicious cranberry orange bread. It came with a cheesy veggie soup and it was the best soup I've ever had! One kid had a turkey and cheese on white bread he said was the best ever, and he is a turkey sandwich conisseur. One kid had a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and gobbled it up. The coffee drinks were fantastic. We will be passing by again soon and will definitely be looking forward to a return trip!

So I took a chance and called just to see if maybe they could fit us in for one night. I spoke to Jess and she allowed as to how she could make room for us but it may be without any hookups. I told her that was fine with us and asked if a spot with hookups came available could she please put us in it. After I hung up I realized that I did not give her my phone number so I called back. Jess said that she did indeed have a full hookup space and that she had already moved us into it. When we arrived we were greeted by Brad the bar tender. He directed us to our spot and told us they were open and serving food until 10:00. Once we got settled we went back in for dinner. We had fish & chips, wings and Matt's hot chicken sandwich. The food was good and the service was even better and pretty fast. It is located about 1/3 mile from the I-15 exit ramp. The scenery is awesome, and considering how close to the freeway it is it was decently quiet. We will definitely stay here again.

We…read moreweren't sure it was open anymore because we passed a lot of closed-down businesses after we got off the highway and before we got to the cafe. Also, the building is mostly an opal store and mine, so the cafe part wasn't readily apparent to us until we saw the tables in the rear of the building. The menu is simple with the stalwart breakfast and lunch/dinner dishes and sandwich offerings. The menu prices very reasonable. My wife and I had breakfast here. I had biscuits and gravy along with a cinnamon roll. My wife had the breakfast burrito. My biscuits tasted freshly made and the gravy had nice chunks of sausage in it. The breakfast burrito was on the smaller side (which my wife appreciated) but it was less than $4 and was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Clean restrooms and 2 gas pumps if you need to fuel up your vehicle. I'm glad we made the stop.

We came in and looked around and they told us "we don't have hot food, we only have cold sandwiches, and you can't eat them inside". The told us that if we wanted hot, sit-down food we should go to the place on the other side of the highway. We did, and, it was closed. (I chose this place using the Yelp app because it was the only place open on Monday in the area. ) So we drove another hour to Idaho Falls for food. The opals looked cool though.

We had one of the best burgers and fries we've had in a long time! The burger was tasty, juicy and perfectly cooked. The fries and tater tots are not overly greasy and were also quite good. Service was fantastic!!!! Kendall (I think that was her name) is quite possibly the friendliest waitress I've ever met. She was calm despite having several tables to tend to. She was friendly and she was efficient. The prices aren't too bad either. We had a cheeseburger, fries/tots combo, a kids cheeseburger and two Pepsi drinks, all for $21.00.

With that being said though, there's nothing that really makes Big Juds stand out either, especially for the price point. Two Burgers, a small fry basket, and a drink + tip was $35. For the sake of comparison, i could get two bacon burgers with unlimited toppings and a large fry + drink for $3 less at Five Guys, and i also get two burger patties instead of one. Five Guys tastes a bit better too, imo. Like i said though, Big Juds isn't bad by any means, just mediocre. There's just so many better burgers out there that it's hard to justify coming here in particular.
