Great location for a chill evening! Came here with a few friends, and we split 2 flights. Here is our review of the current draft list: 1. Hatch- Classic cider. Tasted fine, not too sweet, not too dry. 2. Fire Belly- Mango Habanero cider. This was all of our favorite. The habanero is prominent, but not so intense that it takes over the taste. 3. Crispy- Granny smith vibe. A nice twist on a classic apple flavor. 4. Scones- Blueberry-vanilla flavored cider. Notes of lemon too. Very sour beer-esque, but in a good way! Flavors were subtle, but mixed well. 5. Coba- This was another one of our favorites. It's their pineapple-coconut cider. The initial taste is similar to a lite beer, but the aftertaste has the pina-colada. 6. Chute- Tastes like a cherry sour. A bit sweeter. Very enjoyable! There's a bathroom, too, which I think is kind of rare for 1840, so perhaps it was added after the fact like the cider taps ;) Because of its location near all the other businesses in Market Station (the big boardwalk thingie that houses Tuskies downtown) plenty of places deliver food right to you! What a pleasant surprise. Hidden at the back of the Tuscarora complex this cosy log cabin now hosts the Wild Hare Hard Cider Cabin. Dog friendly inside and out, we were sold even before we stepped in with Scout, our Welsh Terrier! What used to be a quaint doll shop is now home to a very social hard cider establishment. The feeling as you walk in is very warm and welcoming, complementing the log cabin with adequate contemporary materials and design. The drinks are very exquisite flavors, such as ginger and lime peel, hopscotch, mango habanero, and more. You can get them by the glass, try a sample flight of three or buy a bottle. Great cidery in Leesburg. Came through in a Sunday afternoon around three looking for some drinks and food. We loved the look of this small shop, it's cabin like and comfortable. My husband and I both ordered flights of different ciders. I felt like the pours were generous for tastes. The cider at wild hare is on the drier side, which we like. Only one of the ciders on tap that day was lightly sweet, which was a nice change. Overall we found each of the ciders good though in the end I liked the lightly sweet one the best. We tried the Hopscotch, Galaxy, Hatch, and Saxby. We enjoyed all of them. My personal favorite is the Hopscotch since it had a meade flavor to it as well as cider. The saddest part is I wanted to get some to go but they ran out of the cans. I wanted to love this place because not only do I love ciders, but the photos from other reviewers seemed like a cute, spacious outdoor spot to sit around and enjoy some drinks. My first impression of the place was that it's very small, especially on the inside where there was a relatively large group of people sitting at the tables and being very loud. Volume doesn't bother me at all but just want to point out they're shouting, speaking loudly - spit is probably flying around (you get my point with COVID lol) I did feel uncomfortable being in such a small space with that many people (and I've been comfortable dining indoors) but whatever - I was only inside for a few minutes to place my drink order and head out. Main issue with my experience was that they were pretty much out of every cider I wanted to try off their menu. They were even out of half of the ciders they had on display as their specials for that particular day. I also wanted to get a flight of ciders in their wild hare glasses (as depicted in many Yelp photos here) but the bartender told me they weren't allowed to serve flights..... even though the table next to me had a flight with the same glasses. I don't know, maybe there is a valid reason for this but he could've conveyed that to me better since I did see other people with them at the same time I was there (he also had a bunch of glasses and flight boards right behind him so it wasn't due to a shortage) I initially wanted to give this place a 3 star review, but I'm going with 4 because the bartender was very nice and the few ciders I did get to try were very good (my favorite was the Bloom) . Made our first visit last night. First off we are beer and wine folks and have generally stayed clear of the cider scene out of the assumption that everything would be too sweet. That's not the case here. Most of the ciders we tried were dry and complex in both flavor and bouquet. We tried all their offerings, but these stood out: Hatch: dry cider that crisp and tart. Very simple, but in a right proper way. Hopscotch: they dry hopped this with Citra. It has nice citrus notes without hitting you over the head like an imperial double IPA. Windrush: aged in oak and chestnut staves. Nice and woodsy. Notes like a Chardonnay that has been in French Oak, but isn't super buttery. The tasting room is a wonderful long cabin looking room within Market Station right next to Crooked Run Brewing. Bonus that night: Georges Mill Farm Artisan Cheese was on site doing a cheese tasting. They are awesome and it was fun trying the combo of cheese and cider. Net/net Wild Hare is a great add to Leesburg and certainly worth checking out if you are already visiting Tuskies, South Street Under, Crooked Run, or Fire Works Pizza. read more

Disclaimer: I haven't been to many cideries and I'm not cider connoisseur but I enjoy cider and I wanted some place to relax and enjoy an adult beverage that wasn't a winery. This one is located in a cute shopping center. They have some snacks you can buy (I can't drink on an empty stomach) but because it was the weekend between Christmas and New Years they didn't have pretzels (boo), and the only other two options was ciabatta with dip or brownie. Got a flight of 3, you can choose your three: Ophelia, Willow, and Sax. The flavors were light and they are on the dry side, not very sweet. I like the Ophelia the best. I wish I could like this ciders more than 3 stars. The CIDERS are VERY DRY - they only contain 0.4 - 0.6% residual sugar compared to at least 5% that Angry Orchard or Woodchuck contain. The ciders are very tart. Despite the menu, there were 5 tastings. I got a glass of the ginger cider and could only drink a few sips. The service was super friendly and knowledgeable. If you are into dry ciders - then I recommend otherwise go down the road to Catoctin Distillery for some juicy cocktails. read more

I'm not especially a cider guy, but it's still a form of booze thus I must sample it. Overall I'm glad I did. Their ciders trend towards the dry side, which is my preference as well. They have a tiny hole on the wall serving room; not exactly a picnic location but they do have a table you can sit down at. What I tried: Hopscotch: Smelled like hop & grapefruit, tasted like apple. My favorite of the bunch Rocket: 2% residual sugar, heavy nose and lots of apple on the palate. Hatch: Very dry, little tart. Windrush: Describe like a 'chardonnay' although I'm not quite sure how that is. Not bad but not my favorite. Olphelia: Grapefruit nose, very creamy palate. A group of three of us visited last Saturday. It was a rainy, gloomy day - perfect for sampling craft ciders! They had six ciders to sample that day - and so we tried them all: - Hatch - Windrush - Hopscotch - Rocket - Revelry - Ophelia Americans are so used to commercial ciders that are loaded with extra sugar and overly sweet. That is NOT what you will experience here. All of the ciders we sampled were crisp, tart, dry - almost like drinking a sparking wine or champagne. I like ciders like that - you are really tasting more of the Apples. And speaking of Apples - Wild Hare uses Virginia grown apples for their ciders. I like that - locally grown Apples for locally brewed cider! I enjoyed 5 of the 6 ciders - and the Hopscotch was my favorite. It actually has Hops in it - as in Hops used in brewing beer. It's a well executed usage - it does not detract from the cider or get in the way of the Apples, in fact I felt like it enhanced the overall flavor profile of the cider. The only cider that did not resonate with my palate was the Ophelia. There was a citrus aspect to it that was at odds with my taste buds. A delightful surprise for us when we went to FireWorks Pizza. Their ciders tend towards the sweeter side. I'm more of a dry, funky cider girl, myself, but all the flavors they have in their cider- fermented ginger, lime, hops, grapefruit, oak just to name a few)- are so tasty that I don't mind. All of their ciders are fermented in stainless steel. Their Coppertail is then aged in Catoctin Creek barely, which makes my mouth water just to hear about it. We bought a mixed pack of their more dry ciders (Hatch, Ophelia, Willow, Chute) and also a re-usable stainless steel, vacuum top growler (they have classic glass ones, too). We filled ours with Saxby cider- which is a fermented ginger and lime cider. This one is deceptive: yes, it's sweet for a cider (for me) but as a ginger beer, it's just right! I thought of it as an apple-sweetened lime and ginger beer and it was great with my pizza and stuffed jalapeño dinner from FireWorks around the corner. Ben was behind the bar is patient and knowledgeable, and the ambiance is very comfy: all wood and no pretense. I'd love hanging out there some time in the (corona-free) future. Wild Hare is a must stop on your next visit to Leesburg! We stumbled upon this micro-cidery after a nice bike ride on the nearby W&OD trail. We arrived Saturday mid-afternoon and immediately appreciated the large bike rack outside the tasting room for us to lock up our bikes. Once inside, friendly staff members gave us a quick spiel on how the cider is made and the history of the cidery. Cider is available by the glass or you can choose to do a flight of three ciders for $12. I chose to do the flight and received generous tasting portions of Hatch, Hopscotch, and Willow. One should know that the ciders are all on the dry side--this isn't like Angry Orchard or another sweet grocery store cider. My favorite was the Willow, which had notes of blueberry and raspberry. After a ride in the summer heat, we were very hungry and decided to try some of the food options. Reading the Yelp reviews, I figured it would be best to try the pretzels​ everyone was raving over. While they weren't warm, they were very buttery and delicious! We ended up ordering two more! They were the perfect snack to pair with a nice, refreshing cider. I wanted to try the Conche Chocolate Covered Bacon that was listed on the menu, but they did not have it the day we visited. Wild Hare has both indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, the tables were taken out in the front, but if we wanted, we could have sat on the many stools that line the patio. We enjoyed sitting at a long table inside the air-conditioned​ tasting room. At the end of our tasting, we bought a bottle of cider to bring to a dinner party later that night--it was a hit! Cute little cidery in the middle of Leesburg! Right across the street from Crooked Run Brewery, Wild Hare has a very rural feel to it, like a quaint log cabin transported to a modern town. There is a small patio and a single room downstairs, as well as an upstairs that was hosting a bridal shower when we visited. It is simply decorated and has only a few tables, a bar, and a stone fireplace. I tasted the Hatch cider and quite enjoyed it, as it was very dry and crisp and not at all overly sweet like some other ciders. What a lovely spot I believe we were served by the owner m, and it was one of the few places open on a bad icy snowy day. I like ciders but they actually specialize in dry ciders so they weren't too sweet and I was with my boyfriend who hates ciders and he actually enjoyed them! It's small inside and they have a little outdoor area which is probably great when it's warm and they have boardgames inside so it's a whole vibe there's a brewery right next-door so I would definitely make an afternoon out of it and hit the cidery and the brewery and then there's a pizza place and Mexican restaurant also nearby less than a two minute walk. read more

I went to Wild Hare Cider on 7/9/16 with a group of 9 people. I had called ahead and been told to arrive either earlier or later in the day so they could accommodate our group (we arrived an hour before they closed). Wild Hare Cider is similar to a wine tasting experience in the fact that you receive a tasting of all of their ciders. However, it is slightly different in atmosphere. The tasting room is small. They do offer a large picnic table for larger groups. It's no frills (e.g. no live music and/or a kitchen where you can order food) and frankly our group (who had been to 2 vineyards before coming to Wild Hare Cider) really seemed to enjoy it. (The most bottles bought on that day were from Wild Hare Cider and not the 2 other vineyards we had visited.) The gentlemen who did our tasting friendly and professional at the same time. He was more than happy to pet the puppy we brought with us. He also had some good suggestions in taking a group picture when we had completed our tasting. If you insist on bringing children to on your tasting experience(s). I would not recommend Wild Hare Cider. It does not have a lot of outdoor space for your kids to run around and frankly the tasting room is small (someone running around the space could potentially cause a problem). This is what all ciders should taste like -- closer to wine than liquid sugar. We did tastings of Hatch, Windrush, Hopscotch, Rocket, Saxby, and Coppertail. Sabxy was the winner for me. I just swoon over anything that tastes of ginger. Nina really enjoyed Coppertail, their still barrel aged selection. We even took a bottle home with us for a friend. A word to the wise: if your idea of good cider is Redd's, please don't come here. You'll be sorely disappointed. They specialize in dry, complex ciders. The absolutely best part of our experience was Sarah, our tasting guide. Oh my goodness, this girl is the definition of sparkling personality. We both highly enjoyed her knowledge and company.
