We visited on Saturday without a reservation and had no problem finding seating inside or outside. The staff was super helpful and answered all our questions. We both got wine flights so we could try a variety of wines. We really loved how much space there was and the views were beautiful. Everyone there was respectful and it had a really relaxed vibe. This is a really fun spot , part winery, part brewery, and they even have hard seltzers, so there's something for everyone. I tried the white wine flight and thought the wines were solid, nothing mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable, and the pours were generous (great value!). The guys in our group were happy with their beers too. We didn't eat this time, but the onsite pizza looked delicious. Lovely winery that's dog friendly both indoors and outdoors! Reading through some of the negative reviews of this place, I think those reviewers were either here at a time TFV was going through construction and change in ownership, or they were looking for something "fancier." I didn't like the caution tape strung up outside and wasn't sure what it's for - but if it's just to keep people out, I hope they can find a more aesthetic way to get the message across. Yes, flights are served in plastic cups on trays with printouts of details of the wine on there. Yes, it's lively and people aren't dressed to the nines. Personally, I like that this winery is so approachable and no-frills. That's not to say it's not a nice establishment, because it is! But drinks aren't served in crystal and conversations aren't held in subdued voices. They have live music on some Sundays 2-5pm, and I believe it's coming soon for Friday evenings as well. We ordered a hot honey pepperoni pizza and it was surprisingly delicious. It did take a longer time than I thought, but it was worth it. I think we waited 30 minutes for the food after ordering it, and we were there on a Saturday at about 2-3pm. I've come here twice now, and both times were because the organization that my dog and I volunteer for (Fairfax Pets On Wheels) held a social here. It's not overly crowded like Barrel Oak or Bluemont or Stone Tower are, plus I like that my dog can be with me both indoors and outdoors. read more

We went to Three Fox recently for the first time because we heard that it was dog-friendly and we want to go to a nice space with our pup. The vineyard is so huge and there is enough parking even during the weekend. The staff was nice enough to help us where to go and what to order. There was not a lot of food options except for the cheese and crackers and the wood-fired pizza. The wood-fired pizza was delicious and the wine were good. My only suggestion is that posting a map where the dogs can freely play or where to sit for first-timers would be really helpful. And separating groups with kids from those with no kids would be great. read more

We decided to stop here on a whim and I'm so glad we did. When we arrived, a lady greeted up and gave us a rundown of the whole place. They have a big indoor space, the top floor is for adults only and the bottom is for everyone. The inside is very open and beautiful, definitely had good vibes. They also have patio seating, which is where we sat. It was a warm day, and I wished they had outdoor fans. The patio got a good breeze but fans would have made it more enjoyable. My friend and I got the red and white wine flights. I liked that they told you what each drink was. I don't know that I'm the best at judging what the best wines are, but I found these wines good. We also ordered a Margherita pizza to split. They had QR codes to order the pizza and then they texted you when it was ready. To pick up the pizza, you have to walk down a hill. It definitely wasn't the most convenient way to get pizza but the pizza was really good. Also of note, the entrance to the winery has quite a few stairs and is a pretty decent incline. My partner and I recently enjoyed a relaxing Sunday afternoon tasting beer and wine at Three Fox Vineyards. Although this winery is a little further out if you live in DC or the northern Virginia suburbs, it is well worth the drive and a nice destination for those who have kids and dogs in tow. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside. The lower level allows dogs and children, while the upper level is a lounge exclusive for adults. There is also a ton of outdoor seating, including picnic tables if you prefer to dine while you whine. We received very prompt service at the bar once we entered and they were quick to run us through the menu which included wine, beer, and some limited ciders. They offered pizzas and some limited snacks (e.g., pretzels) for food. Tasting flights were available for both wine and beer and were somewhat customizable with one or two substitutions. Prices were pretty reasonable with tastings starting around $15. Although I was not a huge fan of all of the wines that I tried, I did enjoy the stainless steel viogner. My partner also remarked that he liked the pilsner beer. I think the best feature about this location is the beautiful tasting room, with gorgeous views of the terrain and plenty of seating for groups large and small. We stumbled upon this location by accident. We were on our way to lost mountain vineyard when we discovered they were closed during open hours so we stopped here and we were pleasantly surprised. Beautiful views. Inside is a little modern for our taste but it's still very nice. Staff allowed my wife to sample the non-A drinks which was a great option and touch. I had a the white wine flight and really enjoyed everything on the menu. We took home 2 bottle to go. They offer outdoor seating amongst the vineyard where we enjoyed the cool autumn air and got to watch the cows across the field. Overall great experience. Glad we found this place. read more

Food and Fun Friday nights! Was excited to take my husband out for the best woodfired Pizza either of us ever had. He stated it was, without being prompted. Only down side is that they can't delivery due to the small number of people who own and or run the accessory location next to the large modern clean winery space. But the main reason we went was to try the #freeLineDancingLessons offeredon on a certain number of Fridays at 6pm (must verify before you make to journey)! Upstairs seating for adults on couches and chairs if you're looking for a cozier vibe. The pizza was decent as well. If you're choosing between this spot and Barrel Oak you're likely looking at two different vibes. Spectacular! I took my dogs to Three Foxes Vineyards and Brewery and was amazed! The scenery was spectacular, dogs were welcomed inside and out! Outside, you can explore the spacious fields, creek, enjoy picnic tables, tables setup in the vineyards, and the outside wrap around seating. Dogs were all well behaved, are able to run around and enjoy the creeks and fields. Inside is beautiful, the staff were are super friendly and kind. The fresh Pizza made on site was amazing, yet others brought their own picnic baskets. I recommend ordering the wine and brew flights...to find your favorite of each. My friend and I stopped by Three Fox after peach picking at a nearby orchard. We each ordered a flight of wine, one red and one white. The inside were spacious and there was an adult only section on the second floor. There is an outdoor patio with shade and a slight breeze, as well as tables and umbrellas in the initial lines of the vineyard. I would have loved fans of the patio for the hot day! Spent a few hours here on a Saturday in October with a few friends and my husband. The lines were short and there was plenty of space to spread out. I tried the flight of white which I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked how there were some common types of wine like this Sauvignon blanc, but included other wines that I hadn't tried before. The black berry hibiscus cider (I believe it was called) was a big hit. We were feeling a bit hungry when we got there so it was nice to be able to order a pretzel or a slice of pizza from the food truck. There was even a food truck that offered dessert options. The wines were great, but my favorite element of this winery is being able to sit among the vines in the vineyard. We didn't have a very big party and we were able to comfortably sit for at one of the tables. This was perfect because wanted to enjoy the outdoors and it felt semi-private. You do run the risk of someone smoking a cigar near you, which was very unpleasant and we had to migrate to another area to escape the smoke. A suggestion maybe would be have a few more tables further down in the vineyard that were apart of designated smoking area. That way people with children or those who prefer not to breathe in secondhand can enjoy the fresh air. We were curious about the upstairs loft seating area and we would like to come back maybe when it's colder weather to enjoy that upstairs view. I can definitely see visiting this winery again, especially since they were very accommodating to our party and didn't require reservations. It's nice to see they were dog and kid friendly also. There were really nice cozy seating areas with couches and chairs and awesome views. We really enjoyed it. But then we went outside and that's where you need to go. We actually got a table IN the vineyard. They had wrought iron tables set up in each row....1 table at each row and that was just so awesome to sit there. Beautiful place to take pictures. If you are looking for a place to visit that has food trucks with $20 lobster rolls parked out front and great outdoor spaces to hang out with your dogs while eating and drinking with friends than go here. They also let you bring leashed and supervised dogs indoors and offer a private space for parties. The views are lovely and there is a lot to like here. The wine isn't bad either. I am sure there are more than a few worthwhile mulled wines, regular wines, ciders and beers to try but don't expect a fancy experience here. This is the "a tour bus stops with a group of folks" sort of venue where you will get to taste reds, whites and roses on plastic cups on a tray handed to you for $16. Not a place where you can expect a more "traditional" wine tasting experience like having someone tell you about the soils in the region and how they influenced the blend of wine you are drinking as you pretend to know what they mean and spit into a urn like a fancy pants putting on airs. read more

My wife and I really enjoy exploring local Virginia wineries and feel lucky to live in such a rich wine country. That being said, there are definitely some wineries in this region that are better than others. Unfortunately, Three Foxes falls short in many ways. Tastings are $13 and come in cheap plastic cups that probably muck up the taste. My wife and I did both the red and white flights and weren't impressed with either - and while I like wine a lot, I am very open to all varieties and price points, so I'm not being snobby, like I like a glass of Two Buck Chuck every once in awhile. I thought most of the white flight was pretty off, with the Vidal Blanc being by far my least favorite. The Lazy Meadow was a bit too sweet for my palate, but my wife enjoyed it, and it wasn't bad per se. The stainless steel was also pretty terrible. The Pinot Grigio was the most drinkable. The red flight was all very one note and, as my wife observed, all tasted of fall spices, which didn't go well with the late spring heat. Our least favorite was the Maya, and not because that's my ex-girlfriend's name - it was just incredibly heavy and almost dense in a way? Hard to describe. The Alysha and Renee were fine but not great, and those three wines together felt like very slight variations on a theme. The Abigail was the most drinkable, but I still wouldn't have ordered a glass. Next round was better. My wife got their beer brewed with wine and said it was tasty. I tried the Maxwell, which is their Sangiovese blend, and thought it was very nice - but not nice enough to be compelled to buy a bottle. The ambiance was very nice but not different from many other wineries nearby. There's a nice vista with some of their vines and a hill in the distance with some lovely cows. Inside was plain but cool and comfortable and I could see sitting there on an exceptionally hot or cold day. Dogs are allowed, and I saw some cuties. There are some snacks to purchase (though we didn't), and there was a food truck selling some really great wood-fired pizza. It was a little hard to discern the food truck schedule, and I had to do some digging to find it. Don't risk it if you're starving - check before you go. I may return just for the pizza, though. My main complaint (apart from, you know, the wine) was the service. I was mainly served by a very lovely woman who was kind and funny and great even though she implied she was new. However, when I went back in to get our post-tasting drinks, the male bartender literally passed over me not once but twice even though I was at the front of the line. I'm short and look a bit younger than my age, but I think it's pretty clear that I'm not a literal child despite my height and am in fact a woman in my 30s. First time I think he assumed the older woman standing behind me was my mother, which, okay, fine, but he did it again! with some random dude, so it seemed purposeful. Then when he decided it was my turn, he walked away to help someone else and let the kind female bartender take my order, which I was fine with, but it was just a very odd interaction and left a weird taste in my mouth. All saltiness aside, we had a good time here. It was beautiful out and we had good pizza and plenty of space. I can get those at my favorite local winery, Paradise Springs, so I probably won't be returning, but would consider it if friends wanted to try it out. Wine: Mid. Food: Good but not always available. We are visiting from California and have been to vineyards all over California as well as vineyards in France and the UK. Three Foxes is a gem! Unpretentious, gracious and casual. We had a lovely afternoon with our packed charcuterie and one of the on site Woodfired pizzas. If you are looking for pretense, with big and bold wines, go somewhere else. If you are looking for easy to drink, easy to pair, a great list of beers and a space that is welcoming, relaxing and fun, this is absolutely the place! We will be back on our next visit. read more

What a gorgeous winery! The grounds here are massive and so well kept. The vines are even labeled so that you can see what kinds of grapes are growing. There are picnic tables all over so that you can enjoy some yummy wines with your picnic. When I went, they even had a BBQ food truck! Really appreciate that this is also a dog friendly vineyard and our puppy was able to make lots of friends! When we went, Skip House was playing some great island tunes so I had a merry time sipping the whites. read more

A great find a little off the beaten path. It's actually quite large, with a multilevel indoor seating area and lots of outdoor seating near the vineyard itself. There is a large bar area where you can place your order. The staff was very friendly and helpful at explaining the wines and answering any questions. My favorite was definitely the mulled wine, perfect for a cooler day. The Maxwell was out other favorite, but most if the reds were actually quite good. Huge grounds with lots of different options for seating and views. Some of the tables overlook an expanse of trees, some are inside overlooking the foot traffic, and some are actually in between the rows of growing vines. I don't know if this is always the case, but they had Chinese food which someone was cooking outside on some hot plates. It was GOOD (and and very heavy handed with the oil). We were literally traveling to the beach and seen this winery pop up. I said we have to stop. How ironic it was the reopening of the new place. We arrived and walked up beautiful brick steps leading into the winery. Surrounded to our left was a well maintained vineyard. To the right was a bunch of different areas to relax and enjoy your wine. Inside was amazing. Walk around location at the top. Kids running around. They had a large area for the bar. The lady that told us about the wine tasting and wines was very pleasant and cheerful. We did a tasting of 4 wines (3) reds and 1 white for $12. The wines were all good. The place is amazing inside. They have beer but no time for me to try the beer. Would of loved to had the time. Next time. The average cost per bottle of wine is $30. A bit pricey for where I'm from when the average is $15. Very family friendly and they have plenty of parking. I was only able to try the Rose wine but it was delicious and very refreshing the perfect drink for a hot summer day. This place makes us want to explore wineries closer to home. We stumbled upon this one quite by accident on our way to southern VA. It was Father's Day, so they were decked out for a crowd. Lots of wine tastings, brick oven pizza, music, all in such a beautiful setting. We were enchanted! We decided to enjoy a glass, stay a while and take in the peaceful and romantic atmosphere. Sweet bistro tables were tucked along the grapevines. We wished we had been prepared to stay longer as they even had a painting class. Before leaving, we walked around the property and found picnic space with tables and hammocks along a slow flowing creek where you can enjoy the sound of the water, or even wade.
