The restaurant itself is small and has a community focused vibe, with signs for events and people chatting over their meals. I went in the middle of the afternoon so it was not busy. I ordered a vegan Philly cheesesteak with the pickle fries. They were both AMAZING. Some of the best vegan food I've ever had, including vegan Philly cheesesteaks in Philadelphia! I ordered mine with jalapeños as I like some heat. It was so flavorful and well seasoned. The vegan cheese had a great texture too. The pickle fries were great as well. I really liked that it was mostly pickle and not just breading. If I'm back in Montgomery, I will DEFINITELY be back!!

Now, what's funny is that the woman who owns Our Place, Corrie Sid, also owns Cafe de Fleur in Auburn - which I actually gave 1 star for having service so slow they we weren't able to get our meals. Well, Our Place is also quite slow, though not to the same degree. Just like the other restaurant, they seem genuinely short-staffed, even though Our Place was mostly empty at the time. But what really sets Our Place apart - in a bad way - is the environment. Normally, I don't give too much thought to interior design, but this one raises a few serious flags. It's a very old building; I can only guess what its original purpose was. You can see daylight peeking through the walls, which is odd. And the rusted tin roof isn't so much charming and folksy as it is off-putting. However, the big issue that caught my eye was the thick layer of dust over the ceiling diffuser, right above the tables on the ground floor. When the AC kicks on, the result will be blast of dust, grease, and mold spores directly onto the food of the people below. I'm not even going to talk about the food, other than saying "it's fine." Normally a place like this would garner 2 or 3 stars, but the questionable (to say the least) health and safety of Our Place Cafe prevents me from doing that in good conscience. 1 star.

We've had multiple orders be incorrect, including today's online order being the wrong meats on both of our breakfast sandwiches; Our last to go order was incorrect as well. Our coffees are always inconsistent & extremely sweet so we just order food now. Additionally, each time we dine in, tables are limited & dirty, but the worst thing is, is that there isn't enough utensils - we've gotten our order and there isn't clean forks or spoons, and if there are, they are dirty. Quality control and checks on orders and diners is not being conducted and it shows. There is clearly a love for this restaurant from the community, but things need to change if they want to thrive. I'd stop adding specials to your menu and make sure your regular menu items are being prepared correctly along with the needs of the diners. Your food is fresh and made with love, but things need to change for your customers who want to support you. With love

I appreciated that the sauce was not oily and they give a good amount of shrimp and conecuh sausage (this specific sausage is the key) for the amount of grits they give you. This may be the best shrimp and grits I've ever had so if you don't know what to order, you can't go wrong with this choice. The 3 meat omelet was bomb as well with plenty of meat inside the omelet with a choice of side. Lastly, the chicken and waffle sliders were also really good. The chicken is crispy and the hot honey sauce it comes with naturally motivates you to dip the chicken into the syrup (thank me later if this didn't cross your mind until now). I can't forget the sweet tea is very sweet and when you ask for a side of lemons, they actually cut a lemon up for you which I appreciate from a sanitary standpoint. In case you were also wondering, they offer military discounts and they will sing happy birthday if you ask (no free dessert but they do have some really good beignets to purchase). The beignets are really soft and go great with the ganauche. The only downside for this restaurant is the service is a bit slow. Both days it took quite a bit of time to be greeted by a server and sometimes they take a while to come by your table. This is a minor fix but if this can be rectified this is easily a 5 star brunch place that the city needed.
