Just cancelled ViaSat / Exede / Wild Blue or whatever they call themselves now. Worst service I ever had. Two days after the bill, the data is completely used. WHAT?? I can't even use wi-fi on my phone because it freezes my phone up. After a year of basically dishing out 70 bucks a month for 2 days of S-L-O-W internet I am done! I paid my bill on the 8th and cancelled on the 12th...no prorated refund...money just gone. Ridiculous! They want me to climb on the roof to retrieve their equipment they installed...NOPE! They are trying to charge me $165 to cancel and $125 to send someone to get on the roof. Don't waste your time. This company is a complete joke and robbing people blind! read more

I only wish I had read these reviews before signing up. My experience was the same as the others- they misled me when I signed up about how much service I would need, they'd throttle (slow-down to a crawl) my service when I would go over my monthly allocation (which I would usually exceed in about a week with normal use), the connection was constantly dropping out, and of course they want a huge termination fee. Not to mention that they sent the box for returning equipment to the wrong address (how is that possible?) and then charge me $327 for not returning the equipment- even though I called several times to tell them to send me the box to the correct address because I knew they'd try to pull something like this. I prefer to only review top notch businesses on this website. I enjoy the "give praise where praise is deserved" motto and "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all", but Wild Blue is the one instance that I will make an exception. And I am not writing this to attack them, I am writing it for the sake of the people who are looking into Wild Blue for internet services. For those of us who have lived in rural settings, getting internet is...well..a pain. Wild Blue seemed like a viable solution to this problem, BUT ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh boy was I wrong. This IS the HANDS DOWN BOTTOM LINE the worst company I have ever had to deal with IN MY LIFE. Never before have I had to call customer service so many times for various problems. Internet not working, internet is slowed to snail speed. And whats worst they literally train their customer service agents to fight with you. Me "its the second day of the month and I haven't even been in my house all day, how can I already be over my downloads?" Them "well our system says you over so there is nothing we can do" Me " Do you not understand that it is physically impossible for me to go over my downloads when I am not home and my internet is unplugged? Can you send out a technician there is something wrong with the equipment?" them "sure that will be 75 dollars" me "I'm not paying 75 dollars to have someone come out and fix YOUR faulty equipment" Them "well our system says you over so we had to slow you down but do you know you have free downloads from 12 am to 4 am every night!!! How awesome is that!!!!???" me "who in the world stays up from 12 am to 4 am in the morning?" them "well if you want you can purchase another 5gb for 25 dollars" me "I already pay 120 a month for 50 and it runs out in a day when its unplugged and im not home, what good is another 5?" them "well if you want you can purchase another 5gb for 25 dollars" me "grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" And more and more of the same. If there was no star i would have chosen that!! We had problems from day one! They were 3 hours late for our install. We had connection problems as well. We told them we can't get your services finally got them to take back the Atria. Now 4 months later they are threatening to take us to collections for said atria. Wildblue AKA ViaSat are making it VERY difficult to get out of their internet service! And it was service that was worse that dialup. I tried four different numbers connected to Wildblue that directed me to ViaSat who, before even being allowed to talk with a representative, told me that I needed to call the internet provider with whom I originally purchased my internet. This company is an absolute rip off, I had there service for over two years and one day my home burnt to the ground with their equipment inside. They wanted me to pay $150.00 for the burned up receiver, they said I should of purchased their insurance on it, STOP! right there, Insurance was never discussed with me at all when installed. I said, you assholes wait till my place burns to the ground, And then offer me insurance, They got the wrong guy! I refused to pay the $150.00 and they waived the fee only if I agreed to purchase their insurance at an additional 5 dollars a month. once I pay my monthly fee, with in two weeks or less, im out of data. This the worst internet provider there is. Don't be ripped like the rest of us using wild blue. This company sucks! Oh, I forgot to mention, I went three or four month without internet service due to the fire, Which I made them aware of the fire, they still continued to take money out of my account which I never did get back. WORST customer service I've ever experienced! One start is much to high... I should have known when the two random dudes that showed up to install the dish that this was the wrong Internet provider... Not only did they have no clue what they were doing, before they even got up on a ladder the guy says "this looks like it's going to be a custom install, I'm going to need $80 cash'. BS you're getting 80 bucks from me - luckily the DirecTV guy was here and showed them how to do their install and even cleaned up some of their shotty work... they leave (after checking their own email on my recently installed service) without so much as a piece of hint of how to access my account. Then comes the terrible service from the satellite itself. The promised speeds were rarely there and most of the time slower than slow. A couple technician visits didn't speed up my service, however my usage seemed to go through the roof and drained all my data by the 15-20th of each month. The 5 or 6 times I called in to politely inquire as to what was going on, I was hung up on a couple times, talked to like I was a moron, and told that they can't tell me where my data is going... no record of my usage, yet they know it's all gone? After I cancel after 6 months, apparently I had a 24 month contract that I was never aware of, and I needed to pay $15 for each month (for you math buffs, that $270 just to cancel my $140 a month service) with no way of getting out of it because my service was 'up to standards'... so apparently, their standard is crap. Here's the best part - obviously I need to return my equipment which I thought was just my modem - but no, they want a piece of the satellite dish too and they expect me to climb up there and get it down. Really? So I call, say I'm not comfortable getting up n my roof and taking apart their equipment. The woman first says it'll be $95 to have someone come out and take it down - I say 'you have to be kidding' - she puts me on hold to do some research after I balk at the $95, comes back and says 'actually, it'll be quite a bit more than $95 for us to come and get it down for you...' I came pretty close to losing it, but then I did when she asked me if perhaps one of my neighbors would be willing to help me... I raised my voice and got hung up on once again. I, also, would give them no stars. We have had the service for two weeks. What a joke. I agree with everyone else. If it was possible I think there needs to be a class action suit against this company. And I also agree "Shame on Direct TV" for even partnering with this company. The problem is that Direct TV is so great that you feel that if they partner with someone that company will be like them, OH NOT SO!!! And then you think, ok well maybe I'll give this a little longer to see if it improves and then it's to late to get out the contract and your stuck. Run far and fast from Exede. The only thing they "exceed" on is failure. Heck they can't even spell "exceed" correctly. As with Jeff D, if there was a zero star option, I would have picked that. Not only are their prices insanely high - $62 for 10 GB of data - their speed slow as molasses, (my Mifi connection was just as fast and dropped less often). I had to climb on the roof to get their equipment off the roof and return it to avoid a $300 charge. They can climb up there to install it but not to uninstall it. They say it's a liability issue but so is me falling off the roof when I have to remove THEIR equipment. Their business dealings are sketchy. My router got hacked and someone used almost all my data in a single day. So when I called for assistance, the service rep GAVE me extra data. Then when I cancelled the service 6 weeks early, they told me my early termination fee would be $29.98. Okay fine. And then with their automatic debit system, they took the early termination fee PLUS the $20 for the FREE data they gave me. When I called to get the charge removed they said since I cancelled, they would not reverse the $20 charge. So I will eat the $20 and cost them even more by posting this on every social media outlet I can to warn people NOT to use them. I blocked my account so that they cannot automatically debit anything. Make sure you document every conversation with them and when you return the equipment keep the tracking number so you can prove when they received it. I forgot to do that and although I have talked to two customer service reps who assured me they have the equipment, it has not been processed through their system. The 30-day return timeframe is nearly up. So I fully expect them to try to say they didn't get it in time. I went to cable internet, unlimited for $20 less and way faster! read more

I wish that there were negative stars. In the seven decades of my life, I've never hated a company. However, I hate this company. They are unethical and will misled you when they sign you up and there is virtually no customer service. Also, when I knew for a fact that no one has used up our data (you have to go through two locked gates and two miles to get to our house and know for a fact that no one has been in the house using ...it's just my husband and myself... but they say we used tons of data...there is no recourse. s going to post my own review but this guys issue and mine is pretty much the same. The exceptions for us are: We have Dish but have Exede as our very crappy satellite internet provider. We have no choice and generally speaking we can connect for computer purposes but forget any time of videos, netflix, etc. Stick to the big guys like ATT, TWC, Comcast, etc - they may be jerks but they have extremely reliable service compared to Exede! I moved to my new home in March. The only alternative available to me for internet was one of two satellite providers. Based on their assurance that with the plan I chose (The Liberty Pass) I would never experience speeds slower than 1 mbs , I chose Exede. For the first few weeks I was completely satisfied with the service. I bought 10 gb of data per month and while I had data my speeds were around 10-12 mbs. When my data was exhausted my speed dropped to the promised 1-2 mps .ours stays around this amount monthly - whether we have data left or not. This was always enough to do anything I normally do on the internet except watch videos. Last month we began experiencing severe lag in loading pages and roughly half of the time we had no connectivity whatsoever. My plan renewed and things started to work the way they did originally. Mid month we began to experience severe lag again with no connectivity approximately 10% of the time. I contacted customer service and was told my data had expired and my speeds were restricted or if i had data left it was due to the time of day and the amount of traffic.or it was computer, or the cord or the weather or anything bt them and their equipment or service. I told them my data expired every month and I was still able to do the things I wanted to do and that something was wrong. They checked my modem, refreshed signal and eventually told me that their policy had changed and that they no longer guarantee the 1-2 mps speeds I was promised in the beginning. Now they said, speeds could drop down to 256k and no connectivity was acceptable. read more

The service actually works well, and the price is low, but I had to call customer service 3 times in a row because two of them hung up on me! I wasn't even speaking in an angry tone. The third woman Lameesa gave me 12 months of free dish rental, so she's great, but there is absolutely no excuse for hanging up on a customer who is being rational. Customer service is a biggie for me, and I chose WB over Hughes because Hughes outsources their customer service, but the group they have in the US is no better. read more

Wildblue Internet Service, Excede or Satellite, We have had both, under contract. While their service seems fair for internet, their personnel are extremely incompetent. We have done business with them out of necessity for the past 4 yrs. Each time a change is made or a problem arises they cannot seem to perform the simple tasks requested. We recently moved, had to have the service changed to the new address. Simple right? Wrong. They were unable complete the simple tack of disconnecting the old, sending the boxes for the return of some of the old equipment, when contacted they said the boxes would be shipped immediately, a week later, they said the old account hadn't been closed so boxes were not sent. They said they would close the acct. send the boxes. They will charge 300.00 if the parts are not returned within 20 days. They can't get the billing straight, they had me go all the way to "Corporate" to get approval to have a local company do the new install, per my request. Corporate told me it was approved and processed, when install day came a company unknown to me arrived at 8 a.m to do the install, they had nothing from Corporate. This company cannot seem to get the simplest of requests done correctly. They give you a ticket number for reference should you need to call back, but I now have a long list of numbers, none of this does any good. I'm tired of dealing with inept employee's, I would not recommend this company to anyone, they mostly want to tie you into a contract, and get their monthly billing, but the idea of providing excellent service eludes them. I moved to an area where you can't do satellite service. When I went to shut off my service they would not forward my emails for any length of time and they wanted me to go up on the roof and get something off of the dish or I have to pay 100.00 for them to do it! I did not have that with either Dish or Direct TV. read more

The internet service did not work from day 1. Wildblue did NOT make service work. I had to go back to cable internet to keep my business running. Feb '13 DirectTV put in referral to Viasat (Wildblue exede) for internet service, #401242094. From the beginning the service did not work. We called and they scheduled a tech to come out 3/15. Tech never showed on that date. We called again and on 3/19 a tech did come out. Tech looked at installation and said it was an illegal installation as the dish had been wrapped around a pipe on the house roof with a cord. He said no wonder the internet did not work and said he would not fix it. Tech sent an email showing the illegal installation with a note that he would not clean up the job. We called again with no response. After going several weeks with no internet my business began to suffer. I had no choice but to go back to cable internet so I would have service to keep my business running. I tried to communicate with viasat but they would not listen to my issue and said I would be billed anyway. I sent the following email on March 20th to cancel. " This internet service has not worked from day 1. The service cuts in and out. My husband works at home. His business has suffered as a result of this internet service. We called many times to get this corrected with no offer from your company to remedy. On 3/11 you finally agreed to have a technician come out on 3/15. The tech did a no show even though a have a telephone message on my voice mail confirming the appointment. We had waited all day for him to show up. We rescheduled for a service call on 3/19. The tech reviewed the situation and said the original installation is illegal and not even attached to our home. The dish is wrapped around a galvanized pipe for support. Your tech refused to fix it, and said he was not surprised we had no service with the way the installation was done incorrectly. He sent us a picture with his refusal to fix it. Consequently we still do NOT have internet service from Feb 20th the start date. I am officially cancelling this service and do NOT expect to pay anything for your shoddy service and lack of service to fix anything. Please respond. We will be filing a consumer complaint against your firm, and if there are any charges at all there will be a court case to resolve." I never got a response to my email. Then on May 23, 2013 I get a mailed letter saying the account is past due $329.50, and due in 7 days or may be referred to a collection agency, in which case you may be charged for all costs and legal fees incureed in collecting this debt. In addition, the referral may affect your credit rating. I have the email from the tech with the picture of the incorrect installation and his note that he would not clean it up. Wildblue exede never from day 1 provided the internet service yet they charged for the service. The customer service was unacceptable. Each phone call into them was 20 minutes or more with no acceptable response. I have had hours of wasted time with this company and lack of service. read more

Not only was the Internet horrible, but the customer service was worse! I called March 15th to cancel my internet because I was calling twice a month for 5 months trying to fix my internet because I wasn't able to use it. I had their wifi modem and even had to pay an arm and a leg to get a technician out. Well the guy I talked to put in a request to possibly waive my early termination fee and said when they get an answer I'll be notified. (Thinking paying $120 a month for Internet I could not use because they had too much congestion until they launch their other satellite next year was a good reason to waive it. It was nothing I could do.) I never got a call/email/letter from them until this week. I received a collections bill of almost $600!!! I didn't get a closing bill by email or letter...NOTHING! So I call customer service wondering what's going on and the guy I talked to didn't really know anything about the situation so I was very polite and asked if I can speak to a supervisor. Well I told her my situation and my frustration about this and how I didn't get any instruction on what to do after I cancel my service or why my fees didn't get waved. This lady should not be working with people... She was mean and rude. She told me that it wasn't enough of a reason to waive the fees. And the more questions I asked the more rude she got. This is some of the words that came out of her mouth. "Your not our customer anymore so it's your responsibility" "your not going to get out of paying us" I asked her so I have to climb up my roof to get the satellite down so I don't get charged for it? "Well if that's what you need to do." I asked how is it not enough of a reason to waive the termination fee. She replied rudely "your in a law binding contract and in that contract it says our services might not work at all so it's not our problem." I also asked her I didn't get a closing bill or email (I check my emails 10 times a day and did not receive one) they said they tried taking it out of my bank account but it didn't go through and if someone takes money out of my account I get notified but I never did but no trace of and email or phone call from them. But nothing. After March 15th I fell off the face of the planet. A curacy call and an update would of help. That lady was a bully. I work in customer service and would of never acted that way to One of my customers. Their was no talking to her. She was attacking me I started crying because I was so frustrated. At first it's all fine and dandy with the sales department saying it the best satellite internet ever but they definitely didn't deliver. This company has no morals and are money hungry by selling internet that doesn't work written in their contract . I don't know how a company can legally do this. So disappointing. If she would of just explained things without attacking me it would of made it a lot simpler. read more

Please be aware of this company, they do not provided the service the claim to provide. The sales person I spoke with was very nice and professional, I asked her some very specific questions about my network extender for my cell phone, to see if it would work with the service wild blue provides. She said I wouldn't have a problem. She also said she had the service in Ohio and her signal never went down, that is was just a bit slower in bad weather. I decided to go with the service. The installer was great did an awesome job; however; later that evening (the weather was clear no clouds in the sky) the service went down 10 or 15 times over a period of about 5 hours. After my cell phone dropped several business calls and decided to give up. I contacted Wildblue and they sent the same installer out to check the system. He said everything was good and that I should be aware that their connection is in Winnipeg Canada so if there was bad weather there my signal will go in and out. After that I contacted Wildblue again and the tech there told me the sales person should have never said my extender would work without a problem. I cancelled my service with them and they charged me over $350 as a cancellation fee. I am still not sure why I should be charged a fee by this company simply because I am cancelling a service that they flat out told me they could provide but then couldn't deliver. I usually don't write reviews like this but this company is flat out horrible. They will take your money, provide a satellite service that will only work some of the time, then charge you a cancellation fee when you drop them. I have been in sales for 10 years and I can say this company is extremely unethical and will tell you whatever it takes to get your money. If you hate slow internet service or even no service a few times a day and simply want what you pay for to work properly please avoid this company. I have frontier service before and thought they weren't that great but I will tell you they are awesome compared to Wildblue. I will say I was connected with them through directv and let directv know about it. They more then compensated me for the crappy service on Wildblues part. read more
