I sometimes need to remind myself that places like this exist, because it's easy to think of buying your clothes new, but there's a great selection at ReThreads so next time I want to buy an outfit for an event or something, I'll check here first! Second hand is great on the wallet and the world! I was only going in to browse this time, as I had no immediate need for anything (in fact we're just about to move, so I'm trying to purge, not gain anything else) but I was tempted by a few things still! On top of secondhand clothing, shoes, and jewelry they also have a selection of local goods/crafts for sale including soaps, other toiletries and jewelry. Loving Desirae's review that notes she's planning to only buy used clothing this year -- I'm thinking that's a great thing to add to my 2019 resolutions! There's nothing like finding that made-for-you gem at a thrift store and scoring a great price on it, to boot. In my case, it was boots -- bright blue patent leather ones -- that caught my eye at ReThreads on a recent business trip to Charlottesville. I'm a super compact packer (I pulled off a three-day business trip in one personal-item-sized carry on), so I don't take lightly to adding items to my luggage but this one had to happen. Fortunately I was flying an airline where I could get away with a second tiny bag so these boot beauts came home with me. Come to think of it, it's raining today! Might have to coordinate my NYE outfit around the boots. I love that this shop features a few racks of new gems (conversation socks and jewelry among them), a vintage room, a shoe section, a men's section, and an ultra-clearance room (I vaguely recall everything in the clearance hallway being $2). Fun spot to scavenge! Prices are a little spendy for me but I did find that everything in Charlottesville was more expensive than I'm used to. read more

I love this store! I'm trying to commit to only buying second hand clothing this year and I will definitely be frequenting ReThreads more often. They have the cutest selection and I love the setup of the location. There is a vintage room which is fun to look through, and I love the clearance room as well. Really, I could spend hours just looking around the shop. Last time I was here I found a great pair of Loft leggings and a hoodie that was super comfy. I can't wait to set up consignment with them soon and will report back with that experience! The service is always super friendly, and I love that they support local C'Ville businesses that focus on sustainable products and upcycled/ recycled products by selling their stuff in the store. If you're in the market for a groovy local thrift store for clothes this is worth a stop. The store is nestled alongside Circa and tucked down the street from Great Harvest Bread. The shop has two mid sized rooms with neatly kept gently used clothing displays for men and women that include everything from shoes to coats as well as a small counter for jewelry and accessories. In addition to the gently used clothing, they also had a small section of brand new items like socks with hilarious sayings, pencil pouches, and small totes. The selection is small but clean, organized, and displayed with care. I could tell that the employees take their time when it comes to their merchandise! The customer service was also really great. The second I walked in the sales women cheerfully said hello and asked if I was looking for anything in particular (I was), and she knew exactly where to direct me. When I couldn't find the item she patiently talked with me a few more minutes to figure out if there was anything in the store like it (there wasn't). However, I lingered and ended up finding some awesome stuff in the end (hello new socks) because the sales associate made me feel super comfortable and was really friendly. This is the kind of place where you would stumble upon that "thing" you didn't know you were looking for until you found it. Re-Threads had dressing rooms to try on their fabulous thrift finds. These clothes and accessories are sure to get you through your next outing. ReThreads is a great shop! It's less expensive than most of CVille's other consignment shops (I recently got a summer dress and jean jacket for $11 total). They have a lot of inventory, so come ready to hunt. The staff is friendly and helpful if you want suggestions. Best of all, three days a week you can bring your consignment items in with no appointment - love the convenience! Easy parking, too. As an avid consignment shopper, I was very excited to hear about a new addition to Cville's contentment options. ReThreads, tucked behind Circa and only open since March, is jam-packed full of lightly used and vintage digs and AWESOME prices - $10 dresses; please and thank you! - as well some really lovely, locally made pieces. They have made great use out of a small space and, while many appreciate a plethora of basics, I would have loved to see more unique pieces, which I don't doubt will come with more time. ReThreads is a great little shop with tons of great inventory. Here you can find men's or women's clothes, shoes and jewelry. There is also a great handbag selection! Every time I visit the shop I find a few things that I love. The staff is very friendly and helpful both with normal sales, and if you've come by to drop off consignments. While you may have to search through a few things to find something that you like (or that is your right size) it's always fun to look at all the unique pieces they have. I highly recommend this store to anyone who likes shopping second-hand. This shop is great! read more

I was there with my two teenage sons on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful experience. The clerk (owner?) was very friendly and helpful without being in the way. The prices were very fair even without the extra sales. Many things were half off and they have a nice sized dollar rack. The merchandise was a nice mix between used, vintage, and new artisan stuff. They had really great shoes too. The nice owner even let us bring our friendly, well behaved dog in, i didnt even ask, she just offered! I will certainly be back and highly recommend it. It would be such a groovy world if all the thrift shops were like ReThreads. read more

Visited RT again and saw many unique things. Lucky to find much needed brown shoes for $9. Love them. Bought several pretty bracelets for a friend who remakes them into earrings, necklaces, etc. but I may decide keep them for myself. I went there for the first time today, and I was very pleased with my visit. They had a wide selection of clothes and styles, and the average price for an item was about $15. They also have big sales on the older clothes. The sales associate was very kind and helpful as well. I found a dress I really liked but it had a little stretching around the neck, so I asked the sales associate if there was a discount for it. He offered to ask his boss about it, and she gave me a 25% discount for the wear and tear. I was very satisfied with the purchase, and I plan on going back again soon! read more

Awesome selection and great discounts. The day I went there were pieces marked down by 75%. Made a number of amazing finds in their designated vintage section. I love thrift/secondhand shopping but often struggle to find vintage styles in good quality. They had a wide array from a variety of eras. Visited Charlottesville on an overnight trip. My friend and I looked for clothing shops to check out and this came up. We were not disappointed. Based on some reviews I was thinking they would be overpriced but I thought the prices were very reasonable. My friend made out well with her finds. ReThreads is a perfect middle ground between the slim (choice) pickings at Salvation Army/Goodwill and the high prices of resale/retail shops in town. As a parent of two, I was pleasantly thrilled to find kids' stuff that's gently used and in good taste. Rarely do I get the opp to shop for stylish clothes for myself (women's threads) while the kids are entertained with toys in good condition! What a treat. A truly nightmarish ordeal. I consigned to sell a high end vintage collection (over 100 items), and they mysteriously disappeared! Owner says they were probably "accidentally" donated, and I asked how could an item that had never been displayed yet be donated? My bad for not being more careful about exploring this poorly run operation. Owner sent me a check for $50 and a blank charitable contribution receipt for American Heart Association (did not know they accepted clothing and accessories!) Not what I expected at all. read more

I have been to many of the Charlottesville thrift and consignment stores in the past few days (I'm here for several weeks with my boyfriend and didn't bring enough clothes and, sadly, I'm not a millionaire). This store, while small, had very reasonable prices and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. I wish they'd had a larger selection, but she said she just opened two months ago.
