Wandered into the SPCA Rummage last weekend and I don't regret it. Spacious and organized very well for a thrift store, which can often be the biggest hurdle in finding the good stuff. I went in looking for a couple items in particular, of the home goods variety, and I didn't find them, but saw many other things I liked. They have a large selection of kitchen wares, sorted by type and some sections sorted by color which is fun! Some things are definitely priced higher than what you typically think of as a thrift store price, but the quality was there so could still be worth it if it's the item you seek. I did end up getting a few pieces of clothing that are super cute, and I tried on several more that were also nice but I didn't want to go overboard! Will definitely return for that secondhand clothing shopping experience. The best secondhand clothing experience I've had in quite a while. So much variety and lots of stand out pieces and good brands, and it was well sorted by size for the most part. Am extensive dvd collection at the back I didn't chip into but if I ever have an old classic in mind I can't find on Prime, Netflix or redbox, i'd definitely think to look here! read more

My husband found some nice Bible reference books that he was excited about. I was mostly interested in household items, dishes, etc. but nothing special there. Lots of things for pets though.... imagine that! read more

Workers were all very kind and welcoming when you walk in. The value is good- variety is pending what is donated so it can be hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. Good home item selection for trinkets and kitchen cups/flatware. Definitely worth the stop to browse and see if anything fits your style. read more

The SPCA Rummage is always well organized and i've found some great items here at an amazing price. The employees and volunteers have always been helpful too. I like that they have some pet care items at their store as well! It was also very easy to leave a donation here (as long as it's before 4pm). You can just put your items on a table and they will do the rest! It's all for a great cause too. read more

Love this thrift store! They always have a great selection of pet supplies at good prices, most either new or gently used. And I have found lovely tops there of better quality for way cheaper than other thrift stores (thank you!) Books are also less expensive (as they should be, let's encourage reading). Sadly, I think I will have to take this thrift location off of my thrift shopping day stops because it is become a waste of time. Remember, it is a thrift store shopped by people looking to find a deal or by people who have to shop there to afford necessities. The last 3 times that I have been, I have found that the prices are ridiculous to be getting the items free. Each time, I left with nothing which rarely if every happens. I love to shop at thrift stores that support a great cause but the quality of the item and the price have to match. Ex. They had avon lotion for $5 but it was dried up(at the bottom of the jar) from being in storage too long. A name brand purse that was not in the best shape was being sold for $50. I have been shopping here for years and have never seen items overpriced. If you sold items for a reasonable price you would get more money for your cause because the shopper would continue to keep looking to buy more due to your reasonable prices. read more

Great store with excellent prices! It's pretty spacious and offers a fair selection of clothes, knick-knacks, linen, and even some furniture. I ended up with a brand new wallet, dress that looked NWOT, and a wire bowl that's now my fruit basket for just $7. read more

Enjoyed going here - was clean and organized. Recently went here (two weeks ago) and was extremely disappointed. Not organized -- seems unclean - not inviting for shopping. Prices have changed -- low end. I go to a lot of thrift stores and this was one of my go to places, however I don't know if I will return. read more

Been 2x in the last couple weeks. Great prices. Friendly staff, decent quality and variety. I bring along my high needs teenager to practice lifeskills and they've always been so helpful and understanding when things don't go perfectly. read more

We took our 5 well-behaved children to this store to pick out gifts for each other. They were quietly looking at toys and puzzles. My husband and I were close by , though we weren't hanging over the shoulder of each child. My children were repeatedly told to not touch the toys. One of them overheard a worker say, "Kids, kids, kids. Sometimes I just want to smack them." As my girls were looking for gifts, a worker reached over them and began roughly straitening shelves. Then she proceeded for follow us and glare at us as we continued shopping. If my children hadn't been working so hard to find their gifts, I would have just left. And here's the kicker. When I apologetically mentioned our bad experience to the clerk checking us out, and asked if there was someone I could mention the problem to, the worker quietly implied that the people I would need to talk to were the ones who don't like children. I am really disgusted and would like to spread the word about the hateful people who manage this store. read more

They do have good stuff and its organized very well but the prices are ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH for a thrift store! I cant count the number of times Ive found something I wouldve bought had the price not been so ridiculously high. This results in the same stuff staying in the store for months. They would rather keep items for years trying to sell it for a high price rather than pricing them more reasonably to increase turnover. It doesnt seem they understand the whole point of a THRIFT store is to sell used items for cheap in order to raise money for their cause, its not to be greedy and expect people to pay boutique store prices for stuff they receive for FREE. Large, well-stocked, and well-organized thrift store with a variety of clothes and home goods. The linen and textiles sections in particular were highlights, as was the way they merchandised the items by color and style. Not a lot of furniture or very old/antique items if that's what you're looking for and the pricing for some of the artwork was oddly high, but otherwise a great shop and worth a visit. read more

I came into the store for the first time. I picked up a small item and I carried it around the store for 30 minutes. It was on the shelf with other $2 and $3 items. When I went to pay the cashier said she could not sell it to me because there was no price marked on it. When I asked if there was someone in the back who could price it, the cashier said she could not bother the manager when she's in the back. Whoever is running this store should look into changing this policy. Who is on the governing board? All items are donated so why can't any employee put a price on it. The point is to raise money for a cause. I won't be back. The cashier apologized and try to make a joke but it didn't work. Sad. read more

This store was very busy in the beginning. Now it's much less congested on my visits and my guess is the prices on these items. I hope each time I visit the Charlottesville location logic would have caught up with the pricer but unfortunately not. I do not plan to make this store a regular stop any more. It seems to me if the prices were more reasonable they would move much more merchandise and in turn do so much more to fund the SPCA. Hopefully at some point this revelation will occur to the person who decides these outrageous prices. read more

I love the idea of a thrift shop that raises funds for a good cause so I had to check this out. Sadly, they did not have an extensive selection although the shop was clean, spacious and well organized. I did notice signs requesting donations. Help em out! For the animals! As another reviewer said this store has high end boutique prices with thrift store used, chipped, stained or melted items. I saw a melted spatula with a price tag of $1.50! Really? No thanks. They had a used cast iron skillet for $30. You can buy them new at Walmart for $15. As a friend of mine would say "they're proud of their stuff". I stopped here after a meeting and didn't have a lot of time to look because I had a long drive home. There was a lot of buzz around the woman's clothes because anything for women including jewelry, shoes and purses was half price that day. I did find a pair of Keen's for $6 and a couple of t-shirts. I also bought a seat belt harness for my dog. The store had lots of stuff but at very high prices. I would check back in when I'm back in the area just so I could see if they had any special deals. I discovered the SPCA Rummage Store a few years ago when they were on Preston Avenue. I've gotten some good deals over the years. The stuff I typically look at there is electronics and that stuff is always cheaper than buying it brand new. There seems to always be small electronic items like cables and remotes that never sell as well a ton of kitchen stuff. I like the variety of items here and everything is well organized compared to Good Will where it looks like stuff is just put anywhere in the right department. The current location is clean, organized and well maintained. The staff is friendly and usually the cashier greets you as you walk in. They have different specials throughout the month especially during the first week. They aren't open as long as Good Will but I stop in more frequently than I do a Good Will. read more

Had a good selection of clothing especially dresses . They have a good selection of quality dishes, glasses and other housewares. It is clean and well organized but the racks are packed very tightly. Sales associate was polite and friendly. Hopefully they will get a better shoe selection in the future. read more

While I approve of the proceeds going to the SPCA, I wasn't too impressed with the inventory here. The prices were also much more on the consignment end of thrifty than your usual run of the mill thrift store (at least for the clothes--$12 for a dress that I looked at. Hard pass). Definitely had plenty of pet items though, which was cool. read more

This is one of the best organized thrift stores I've been in. It had dishes organized by color pattern - my daughter was able to easily find several vintage pieces of a pattern she is collecting. My son found a ceramic dog and a couple of games. I found several lovely gifts. The best part - all proceeds go to a no kill animal shelter!!! read more

The new location has lots more space and the selection has grown. There's more furniture now, for example. This is always my first stop for miscellaneous electronic equipment (cables and whatnot). They get good donations, and the proceeds go the the SPCA. They also have sales - check the FB page.
