There's river access to the Allegheny River so the kayaking is fantastic. There's not many amenities except electric at the large campsites but you can fill up your holding tank of your camper at the entrance to the park with non drinking water which is great. Each site has a picnic table and a large fire ring. There's a large bath house at the entrance and one deeper in the park that is just a restroom which is also great. Unfortunately the park is suffering from under or non functioning commodes, blow dryers showers and is generally in disrepair. The Camp host cleans and resupplies the bath/showers each morning which is not enough when there's a sell out weekend like the fourth. Previous years it was always acceptable so I'm not sure what makes this particular year so different but the restrooms are filthy by late afternoon and just gets worse. This year the stay has been very disappointing. Message is not to come here on a holiday weekend anymore if we ever come back at all!

We love this place! I read other reviews where they complained of the closeness of the cabins, and yes, they are very close together, but look at the map of the property layout and you'll see Cabin #21 & 22 are at the far end, offering the most privacy (these are the ones we always request.) You can see from the map if your cabin is waterfront or not, and how close the next cabin is. They did their best to insert privacy walls and landscaping trees to help with that issue. But if you are coming with a large group and want all your cabins together, the closeness is a plus, not a negative. The cabins are great! They provide towels and bedding for the main bed and bunks, but I'd recommend bringing extra blankets and your own pillows. The kitchen utensils were lacking in our cabin; we did not have a toaster, so I "toasted" the bread in a frying pan. We also didn't have a pizza cutter (I just used the butcher knife) and the bowl to mix avocados was massive with a flat bottom..LOL. I made it all work, but had I been staying longer, I probably would have asked if they had these items or went to the dollar store and bought stuff. (Or brought it from home had I realized.) SO, if you plan on cooking/preparing anything specific, maybe pack necessary kitchen items so you can accomplish your task. Also, bring your own plastic cups for kiddos, or for yourself, a plastic/insulated beverage container for walking around or boating. They only have glass (and very fragile wine glasses!) The property is lovely with concrete walking paths everywhere, 3 extra restrooms on the property, and Sunset Grille (great food and live music on the weekends). There is a kid's playground area, small sandy area, sitting spaces, fire pits, grills and picnic tables dotted all over the property. They offer non-motorized boats to all guests and we definitely take advantage of that! The kayaking is so fun! The lake is very nice once you get further from the front of the resort where it's more lillypads, algae blooms and "seaweed"... it's natural though, nothing to be grossed out about. Also, it is right off a main road, but if you pay attention to what's in front of you, not what's behind you.... you'll be happy :)

Great location! To…read morestart off this is a very tight campground that can be a bit confusing to navigate. Luckily they have golf carts that wait for your arrival and show you to your spot. The staff at check in was great. She showed us our spot and gave us a packet of information with a map of the campground, state park, and other things to do in the area. The space was clean and concrete and rocks so you don't have to worry about mud. You are very close to the other campers but everyone was nice and quiet in the evening. We did not take a shower but did use the bathrooms at the shower house and they were clean and have a code entry. We drove over to the other part of the campground on the lake and walked to beach. It felt like two separate campgrounds. So it was confusing to know where the campground events were taking place. I asked someone in the camp store and was told by the playground maybe. We walked around a little bit didn't find it. The location is key. It is right at the entrance to the state park, with a beach across the street, close to the multi purpose trail and restaurants.

We were there for 3 breakfasts and got a choice of either a meat/egg casserole-type of dish, or a carb-type of dish (usually some kind of pancakes or French toast). We also received different daily assortments of homemade breads/rolls/muffins, and a fresh fruit course. I would book this B&B again. The central location makes it perfect if you're looking for a Lake Erie Wine Region vacation.

There was even advice on local establishments for dinner. We had the Merlot suite. This was a spacious upstairs room. There was a TV and VCR in our room. Suggestion to the owner have a movies available for guests as I am sure no one travels with VHS tapes. The VCR was pointless to have. Breakfast was good. You get to choose between two skillfully prepared meals. Once we were done the lady serving us never came back. We had a few questions but left to go about our day as we had big wine plans. The owners are very friendly and helpful, recommending a great casual, Italian restaurant in the area, Bark's Grill, where they make their own sauces and dressings. The Brick House adds all those little details that make your stay memorable; cookies in the dining room, holiday decorations, a game room, fridge, microwave, bottles of water, etc. My BF and I stayed in the Grape Room of this house that was built in the 1800s. The rooms are decorated in antiques and rich colors which I can really appreciate coming from stark white apartment city living. The room had a comfortable king-sized bed, an electric fireplace and private bath. I assume because it was the Grape Room, we also found a couple cans of grape juice in the room and a free mug to take if you choose to w the name of the B&B on it. The BF was a big fan of the soft towels. The fresh coffee was ready in the morning by 7 and breakfast by 8:30. You won't leave hungry with eggs, bacon, fruit, pastries, juice, and homemade pound cake. The best add-on to the stay is the opportunity to use the 2 infrared dry saunas. They provide white fluffy robes for their guests to wear in them. If you are stopping by the wineries in the area, 21 Brix is only about 4 miles down the road and their Cabernet is more than worth a stop.

I did a 5 p.m. narrated tour on a Sat. in July. I bought tickets at the booth. The tour guide was…read morenew and mixed up her words and left/right sometimes, but she seemed nice and knowledgeable. I initially sat at the front of the boat, but I could not hear the narration, so I moved to the back. The information was interesting and I enjoyed the views. The tour had a large, separate group in attendance. One person in their group distributed tickets one at a time when it was time to board, while people not in their group were already queued and waiting to board. It would have been better for those not in the group to have the group distribute tickets before boarding to not hold up the line. I went to the booth the previous evening, Friday, for the 8 p.m. sunset cruise. I was disappointed to learn there was only one ticket left, when we had two people. I regretted not booking online earlier (mostly because I didn't want to pay a ticket fee). I called earlier around 3 p.m. to confirm the departure time; it would have been nice if the person advised me to get a ticket early.

One gets lovely views of wildlife, the lake and some lighthouses. The guide who provided historical commentary was knowledgeable, funny and answered any questions. Highly recommended.

This is one of the nicest rest areas we have been to. It's basically a visitor center and rest area…read morein one. There is lots of information inside on things to do in the area. I probably spent 30 minutes looking through the brochures here. They also have a bulletin board with events in the area but unfortunately it doesn't look like it gets updated . The majority of the flyers were from July and it is now October . It would have been nice to see current events and things happening in the area . They have vending machines and they even have a microwave for people to use, which is unique and very thoughtful. There is a button you can push inside if you need the police, so that helps with a feeling of safety and I did see a red and white sheriff's vehicle parked there with two deputies inside on my visit. There are lots of tables outside with chairs and a grassy area where you can take your pets. Plus the view of the water is very beautiful, especially right now with all the fall foliage.
