Stopped in for a 30% off sale. Bought three shirts; one in a medium in hopes that it would shrink to fit. 15 mins after getting home, I find that Patagonia has a 40% off sale for same item and in size Small. Called the store about "all sales final on sales merchandise" on receipt and they are sticking to their policy. Have subsequently noted other review about deceptive pricing. Giving 2 stars because they did offer to hang the clothes in dressing room while I continued shopping, but I will not return to this store again. It's a shame as that type of clothing is my go to and Bainbridge Island is my new home as of late last year. read more

Great store and has everything one needs. The owner is very friendly and staff are very helpful.

Watch out for pricing with this store. They had a hoodie in the back marked at $55.00 with a sign saying 20% off. Chose to get one for a gift and went up to the counter. The shop guy rang it up and it was only $5.00 less then the actual price. I mentioned that the price was wrong and he said it was $65.00. I point out that the tag was clearly $55.00 and he said "oh well they are $65.00 and we must have forgot a price change sticker on it. I mentioned, "no, all the other hoodies also have the same price of $55.00." So then he hemmed and hawed about giving me the discount. I was about to just leave at that point. He said "oh, I can sell it to you for $30.00" but then proceded to charge me $35.00 which did not compute because the tax on $30.00 would not be more then $3.00 in the state of WA. So over all I did buy the garment but I would not go back there and feel comfortalbe about their pricing practices. It was evident to me they were playing funky money and hoped I wouldn't have been savy enought to catch em on their switcharoonie. So not a big fan. Watch out for price switches at other store on the island as well as they take advantage of the tourists. read more

I've worked Retail for 15 years, and I don't normally write reviews on places. This is a cool shop. Visiting from seattle with friends doing the touristy thing. Walked in, poked around inquiring about benchmades knife policy regarding repairs. after getting hit by a car while riding my bike with my knife clipped to my pocket the clip got all scratched up and ground down. I wanted to see if they could fix it. The sales associate was talking to me initially (super nice), they turn to refer to the manager/ owner (Steve or Kerry I'm assuming) and the guy just tells me they can mail it into them and they might be able to fix it possibly replace it. I told the guy I'm not local and he says it doesn't matter he's happy to help out. No cost, no where's your receipt, just: let's help you out. This is good customer service. Thank you, I felt obligated morally to share some kind words thank you Wildernest hats off to you. I know I didn't buy very much (Nalgene bottle and a wallet,) but I appreciate you wanting to go that little extra for the outdoor community. read more

Just visited this store today and quickly realized they don't carry anything above a large for women. I searched all pants and tops - not a single XL. For every item to not have anything over a large is not just a coincidence or that they're sold out. This is clearly a fat shaming ploy, which is disgusting. I had planned on purchasing some Patagonia pants. But when my partner and I realized they didn't have anything for larger women, I put the item back on the rack. I refused to patronize this place, even though they had my size. read more

I was really impressed by this store! It was WAY deeper than I had imagined from the front entrance, and it was WAY more stocked with outdoor gear than I could have imagined. They had stuff there for any conceivable outdoor camping expedition. There were items I didn't know what their purpose, I had never seen such gadgets and items before. There were lots of high-end clothing, from long john/thermal/silk underwear to the high-tech lightweight insulated jackets, with all layers and accessories in between. There were lots of maps and hiking guides, walking sticks, Go Pro cameras, sunglasses ... everything and anything one could need for a stroll outside or a heavy-duty hiking expedition. And the guy at the counter couldn't have been nicer. Prices here tend to be high, though (although, I acknowledge that the merchandise is very high-end, of excellent quality), Even those items on the sale rack that were 50% off were priced high. So don't expect to buy anything here at a steal! But I think you can feel confident that you'd be getting a well-made item that will last. read more

During our recent mini-vacation to Seattle, we took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island to do some sight-seeing. My socks had been getting sucked down into my boots all morning and it was really starting to drive me nuts. I was sitting on a bus bench, pulling up my socks AGAIN, when I spotted Wildernest across the street. "Could they have a decent pair of boot socks?" I wondered. I headed on in and found a neat little shop packed with all kinds of outdoor gear. At the back of the store, I found just what I needed: a pair of premium wool boot socks. Awesome. The lady at the cash register was very friendly. I bought my socks and wasted no time putting them on right outside the store. (Sorry, that had to look pretty weird.) I walked a few feet down the sidewalk. I walked back. A smile spread across my grizzled face. Ahhhhh, the socks stayed snuggly in place. This place is like the best of REI shrunk in to the quaintness of down town Bainbridge Island. They have what seems to be a store mascot- an adorable black lab named Roxy who greats you and helps you shop- unless she is sunbathing in the window! They carry outdoorsy clothes that don't scream "GRANOLA!" in other words I actually wear them. Last winter I needed a new parka so I stopped in the North Face store in down town Seattle and they told me I couldn't use a fitting room just to try on a jacket! I had multiple bags with me and like 2 jackets of my own not to mention how I would feel possibly trying on a jacket that didn't fit?!?! Anyway, I left the North Face boarded the ferry and made my way to the Wildernest. I shared my plight as I stepped in to the dressing room with all my crap plus 4 jackets to try on... the funny thing is I ended up buying a North Face parka from them!!! read more

A good amount of outdoor clothing and gear. Some local brands like NW Riders were at the store but also the likes of Patagonia and GoPro were seen on the racks. I was just shopping around and noticed one person working. She got caught up with a customer/friend and talked about soccer or something for the majority of the conversation. Didn't acknowledge our small group of 3 which was a bit of a detractor. The selection is there. It would've been nice to know what was where in the store instead of wandering around aimlessly. I didn't know if I could walk to the back of the store since it looked like it was sectioned off by the GoPro display so I couldn't tell if I could walk by there. It was an OK experience. I might wander back in here some time. However, still 50/50. read more

At first Wildernest felt pretty bourgeois because it carries all the high-end name brands BUT the staff is awesome, they know what they're doing and what they're selling and they lack the luxury-outdoor aloofness that you find in other well-to-do neighborhoods that have similar stores. For first-purchase outdoor gear I think this place has reliable quality and service AND the staff make it a fun place to shop. read more

This shop is a gem, kind of like a "mini-REI" run by friendly locals and owned by people who are extremely knowledgeable about the outdoors and have spent years connecting people with it (former guides). Not joking about the REI comparison (at least the "old REI" we all remember and love): competitive prices, curated high-quality selection, great service and advice (no upselling). Fun place to browse, whether you want a sweater for sitting outside a coffee shop in the exurbs ;) or a windproof stove for a climbing trip to nearby Mt. Olympus. Speaking of that, several of the folks who work there are very knowledgeable about parks and trips in the region. Oh, and they cheerfully give a military discount. read more

Pretty decent clearance items but some of their things are priced on average after being marked down from insane prices. This store is awesome. Not only do they have a fabulous selection of quality outdoor clothing but the owners and staff provide truly outstanding customer service. I had to exchange a pair of shorts that I purchased for my husband because I bought the wrong size and the experience was delightful. I sent an email shortly after I realized I needed to exchange the shorts and I received a response back immediately from the owners stating it would not be a problem at all. I mailed the shorts back and the staff was fabulous. They let me know they had received the shorts and let me know when they would mail a new pair to me. I received the correct pair of shorts back very quickly and I am very happy. This company understands customer service. I am now a loyal customer for life.
