This is a review of the practice area. Guests at the resort get free use of the practice area. I gave it a try. There are two courses on the property and both look to be in great shape. But the practice area certainly wasn't. Being a lefty, I found one small area of grass in one stall. But all the other areas were chewed up. To get to my hitting stall, I had to walk across at least 30 yards of pristine grass. For the life of me, I don't understand why they couldn't have moved the tees back 3 yards and given all the golfers some grass to hit off of. read more

We played Palmer twice and Faldo once. Palmer is a lot easier and has a ton of wildlife including bunnies, quails, coyotes, woodpeckers, and roadrunners. The course has some challenging dog legs but is a good time even if you're bad. Faldo is also fun and is famous for the insane amount of bunkers it hosts. You need to be able to play in the sand if you choose this course. Not as much fun as Palmer but more rewarding for good players. The pro shop is really nice and has some good collectibles. Carts had built in gps and rangefinders. Course is kept in very nice condition! read more

Attended a charity event today, we got to play the Faldo course. Very fun, with some challenging holes. You will be facing a lot of sand bunkers throughout the course with some water hazards. Greens are multi tiered and the pins are placed at a very challenging locations. Greens are in very good conditions, as is the fairways. They really don't have any rough, cut very low. But it does allow your ball to roll into the desert hazards, so be careful. They really do a good job keeping these course in good condition. And the workers there are really great. I will diffidently come back here. read more

Golf was great! Super open but lush course. We golfed 18 holes, love the computerized carts that tell you how far you are from the hole. Food was AMAZING at the course. I had the tuna Poke. Good and drinks were on point. Huge portion sizes. Can't wait to go back! read more

Courses are very solid. All staff except inside the pro shop were top notch. Pro was not very friendly when a golf glove we purchased gave out after 5 holes. We dropped $2,500 on Wildfire a replacement glove would seem no big deal. I don't need a lesson on how to put a glove on. read more

Located at the JW Marriott the Wildfire Golf club has two 18 hole courses the Palmer and the Faldo. I played the Palmer years ago so I was looking forward to playing the Faldo course which has over 100 sandtraps! It was the last day of our vacation and we were paired with two snow birds from Edmonton and we teed off at 10:00 am. The weather was perfect just under 70* with no wind or clouds. Staying at the villas gets you a discounted rate of $107.00 per player. This club is very busy and being Christmas eve there were many people playing golf, but the course is well managed - we teed off right on time. I enjoyed the computor GPS which gives you the exact yardage to the pin and an aerial view of the entire hole layout with a press of the button! Technogly at its finest. The course was in excellant shape due to overseeding not long ago. The only negative is that there were so many players the it took us close to 5 hours to play the round (Minus one star). Service was excellant from bag handler, pro shop attendee, starter, marshalls and even the cart gal. I enjoyed the Faldo course over the Palmer and would return here in the future. read more

Top notch golf clubs featuring a Nick Faldo and Arnold Palmer course. Great practice/warmup facility. Well appointed pro shop and a decent steakhouse is next to the pro shop. The courses are challenging with tough to hold greens. Beautiful fairways and lots of sand. They have a built in GPS system on the carts which helps speed up play and the drink wagon is fully stocked with all kinds of drinks and good food. Vital statistics: 118 bunkers on the Faldo course, so practice your sand game before showing up here. Pricey round of golf at $150. Not completely convinced they have the green fees right. If you decide to golf in July when it is 110 degrees you can play for $50. read more

I played the Faldo course this morning. It is in absolutely terrible condition. Fairways are barren for the most part, greens won't hold any shots. Even the tee boxes are in terrible shape. When I was asked how my round was and I answered honestly, I was told "how much did you pay though?". Absolutely irrelevant. If you are a halfway decent golfer stay clear of this place. Zero imagination, not difficult at all. It seems that Faldo just walked the property whilst sipping on a bottle of Jameson's and pointed at places where bunkers should be. I couldn't imagine paying two bills to play this track that is setup more like a municipal course in peak season. Lastly, if you market your course as "tough" because of the 100+ bunkers, you should at least ensure there is an ample amount of sand in them. read more

Played yesterday. This place has a lot of issues and they don't seem to care. First charging $85 in June is criminal. Fairways bad greens just ok and traps have very limited sand and very low quality. Show up early to have a little breakfast and told restaurant does not open till 11AM not good. We were told to see The cart girl for food and drinks, wish we could saw her once on the 6th hole and never again in 4 hours, really. When we did see her she was rude and seemed not to give a shit about any thing. Lastly we get done and go in to have a beer. We are the only ones in the restaurant and the 6 people working there ignore us and seem put out. 2 of us finally go up and 2 beers at the bar other 2 guys never did get served. Bottom line this whole place needs to be revamped. Don't waste your time there are a 100 other golf options in the valley that will be better. read more

I am not the greatest golfer but really do enjoy getting outside and playing a round. The refreshment cart ladies definitely help my game out as I found the more often I got a beer from her the better my game got. Anyway, I have been wanting to try out Wildfire Golf Club for a while but always a little more than I wanted to spend. Since I am still quite bad I like to try and keep my fees in the under $100 range. We noticed a good deal for Wildfire (normaly $150 per person) this past weekend at $100/person and gave it a shot. Beautiful course and not extremely hard. Long fairways that are well maintained. The GPS on the cart was my 1st time seeing that and it was extremely helpful and something I will definitely want to try out again. It showed not only our cart where we were on the course, distance, etc. but also if other carts are still in play which was helpful on a few holes that were not perfectly straight and knowing where the other cart was around the bend. read more

Great course. Great management. holy hell is it is HOT there. Played the Faldo course in early Oct and was still hitting 100 deg. Showed up hung over after a night of partying in Scottsdale and probably shot close to the temperature but still had a good time. Practice area doesn't get any better. Unlimited use for all guests, numerous stalls at the driving range with perfect condition sod, golf club fitting tent, several putting / chipping greens. Management keeps guests hydrated with cart girls dedicated to 9 holes only so they come around every couple holes. Course itself in great condition although i was surprised the greens weren't faster. Still they were very true. Standing on the tee box, the fairways look open to the eye but with so many traps, you end up realizing this is target golf. Unless you are comfortable in desert heat, i recommend getting the earliest tee times and then partying after the round. read more

Played The Palmer course. Course condition on a scale of 1-10... I'd say about an 8. Very good, and better than most courses but I did see some ratty fairways here and there, and one of the greens had some issues too. The tee boxes were top notch. The layout was desert links all the way, but very interesting none the less. Very intriguing washes that are completely playable, and interesting bunkering and water holes. Not too challenging, but not to easy... I'd say just right for mid to high handicappers. Masochistic Low handicappers might have more fun on a trickier course... Services was great, we were treated well by all the employees, and I saw a marshal numerous times making sure everything was OK, and keeping the speed of play. read more

I played the Faldo course and it was the last time I will play a Faldo course. There are a 108 bunkers, which is usually not an issue for me. But there are high lipped fairway bunkers that make no since. 80 percent of the greenside bunkers are really high leaving you with little chance of a sand save. Had a decent time. read more

The course was very wet and the ground was hard . Lot of places were muddy. Course is very tight and a lots of transition. Great layout and good price . The greens were fast but difficult to control. read more

When Arnie designed this course several decades ago he wanted to bring the illusion of multiple elevations on what was a flat barren desert. Those guys moved tons of dirt to create this land of berms. I don't know many places that have artificial berms all over the course even the fairways are undulating with bumps appearing throughout. The most disconcerting feature is the unseen drops off the fairway. If your shot strays just a bit will land twenty feet down in the sand collection areas. The pro shop check-in was friendly and efficient with Cheryl. The starter Devious Dave was a little disorganized. When he promised he would try to work us in a little early but Forgot because all his members showed up. This is a hybrid resort course. Half the folks playing here are monthly members and they will always get the nod over hotel guests or other visitors. The car lady seemed to be just doing the minimum. This is a nice course and fun to play. There are lots of shots that would be easier the second time around. Many holes are too close together and the houses do surround this course. This is a fun course to play and we would tee it up here again. read more

The staff was horrible and completely unpleasant with the exception of the Cart Girl Stacy who was amazing and so personable. Husband golfed here 4 times during our stay. I golfed twice. We liked both courses and the staff was very helpful. During one round my husbands clubs were not secure in his cart (the caddie did not strap them in) and his clubs fell out, the drive was snapped and my husband was very upset. However, in less than 2 holes, they had his driver re shafted, re gripped and back in his meaty little paws. He golfed one of his best rounds....some might say it was the 'new' driver. read more

The course is actually fun to play in the Summer but not worth the price in the winter. Pace of play in the winter is somewhere along the rate of reading and finishing a George R.R. Martin book also! The 1 star rating is for their refusal to allow non-guests to pay to use their driving range. Really?! Who do you think supports this joint in the Summer!!! read more

Alain Desrochers (14 March 2019) The course conditions were excellent! Superb scenery! Truly enjoyed the course and the people at the pro shop were very sincere and accommodating. The starter gave us the option to play alone as a twosome with my spouse. The only issue I had was at the club house. The hostess was truly rud. After our round we went to the clubhouse for a drink and upon entering the clubhouse, we requested a place for two just to have a quick drink and relax after our round of great golf. She replied very rudely, "Well, we only have room at the bar or you can go outside." The tone of her speech and the frustrated look she gave us, as if we were disturbing her, was truly insulting. We left the clubhouse with a very sour taste of the place. Truly unfortunate that this type of golf resort, would hire such person with such subprofessional attitude. I would recommend the course but stay away from the clubhouse.... read more

I was very excited to play at Wildfire as it had been over year since my last time playing this great course. My issue all started when the course cancelled my online booking just an just hour before the tee time. I called the pro-shop and the gentleman that answered the was very rude and unwilling to help correct the issue. The gentlemen kept only stating it wasn't his fault. I recognize the issue was not caused by him, but his unwillingness to help was very disheartening. I drove to another high end golf course close by and explained to them the situation. The young gentleman there went above and beyond to fit my two-some into their tee time line up and got us out on the course ASAP! This is a beautiful course and my only suggestion is to avoid the pro-shop or limit the amount of interaction you have with them, if you want to enjoy a great game on a great course! read more

The staff is not all that friendly and a bit disorganized, I was double charged for my round, the course is just average. I'd play Kierland 100 times over before I played at this place again, course has more personality. read more

I played the Palmer course while out for a friend's bachelor party. The course was fantastic, challenging and in excellent shape. The staff was also friendly and helpful, loading my bag onto the cart and cleaning my clubs when I was through. Though a little pricier than some it was well worth the money. read more
