Wanted a cake for a very special 93rd bday. Nothing online to help decide which cake. When I did go in to order there are only 2 cakes- first come serve- and they said they make them dail unless ordered ahead for special orders I initially called over the phone and asked what type of cupcakes they had left and based on what I was told I chose one and had to pay for over the phone because as I mentioned first come first serve. No issue there.. Okay, I get and appreciate that. However, when I was purchasing the cake , I asked for a nutrition list, or at least a list of the ingredients neither of which they had. Considering this is a vegan restaurant and I'm sure many other patrons have food allergies and not just to dairy etc.. I would expect that this is something that would be standard. As I was waiting to pick up the cake and asked for the ingredient list, one of the One of the hostesses mentioned that they didn't know the ingredient list because the baker who would made it work the day before. Which instantly showed me that the cakes are not made daily. The shop was quiet. However, there weren't very clear signs as to where to stand, and when I went to the front line to pay, I was told to get back in line to order and then when it was my turn, they said I should have gone to the front of line to just pick up my cake, so a little bit miscommunication from the back of the house the front of the house as well as the overall situation. I wouldn't go again, but other patron seemed very happy and like they were repeat customers, so I'm sure they have been amazing experiences here, just not mine. read more

I don't know what Wildflour puts in their pickles but they work on everything. Namely their avocado toast and banh mi bowl. Like, how do the same pickles add depth to avocado toast and lend pickled flavor that evokes a banh mi? Their jalapeño dressing is yet another deceptively simple condiment that really elevates what would be quinoa, tofu and carrot sticks arranged in a dish otherwise in their banh mi bowl. A dash of dressing, combined with the pickles, elicits the essence of the tofu banh mi I've hoped for with proteinaceous bite, umami richness, and pickled tartness without greasiness. I haven't tried the smoothies or juices yet because of some new sugar guilt. Oh me, oh my, why I do like this overpriced vegan food so much. read more

Not only is Wildflour one of my favorite spots for a delicious pastry, but I was lucky enough to have them as the bakers of my wedding cake. Our gluten-free, vegan carrot cake was beautiful and delicious! We had several gluten-free and vegan guests who were all so happy that they could eat dessert. Thank you Wildflour! Full disclosure: I am not vegan and I have been known to scoff at people who say vegan cheese tastes as good as regular cheese. That being said, I was blown away by Wildflour. I had a chai latte. I think it had soy milk (there were way more options for milk and I got confused). The tea was fantastic. I wouldn't have been able to tell that it didn't have cow milk. My friend wanted dessert, but truth be told, I was skeptical (baked goods require butter and eggs, am I right?). I reluctantly ordered the peanut butter chocolate cupcake. It was AMAZING! The actual cupcake was so moist and delicious, I thought the mountain of frosting was unnecessary. I never in a million years thought vegan chocolate could make such a wonderful cupcake. Wildflour has made me rethink my "vegan doesn't taste good" bias. read more

I came here to meet a friend just to have a snack and chat for a bit. It is bright and open with bench seating along the wall and some tables here and there. I think I would have liked a little bit more comfortable funky seating, but it was fine. We got there at 10:30 and I have to say, it was busy! There was a steady in and out of customers and many of them seemed to be hanging out there for quite some time. So they have a large selection of juices, drinks, smoothies etc. and a nice selection of baked goods. I got the Bravocado and ordered my son the Kid's smoothie, with a lemon poppy seed loaf slice for me and a whoopie pie for my son. I also later ordered the peanut butter brownie for my husband. I have to say the bakery items were really good. The peanut butter brownie is DEE LISH ! So good that I will go back just for this. The smoothies were tasty good as well. The one negative was the staff taking the orders. I'm not sure if they were new and just learning, but the one person wasn't the most friendly (I would expect a smile and a pleasant attitude... it just seemed like she was a bit overwhelmed). Also, later when I ordered the brownie, she took my money and I waited there for about 5 minutes as she went on to do other things. I thought maybe I had to wait for the other orders to go out, but I then went up to ask about my brownie and she realized she had forgotten all about me! Also, they had samples on a tray by the register so I took one... I asked her what it was, and she didn't know! I would think that your staff should know all of what you serve, especially if it is sitting right there in front of them while they check people out. Anyway, overall good experience and the baked goods were quite good. Next time I'll try some of the other items. read more

Delicious bakery items but most importantly- fabulous beverages. It's on the pricier side but the ambience is lovely and the food is warranted. They aren't aggressive about the whole vegan message. Just yummy food, in a pleasant atmosphere. It's also fantastic that it's in a plaza with a big parking lot- huge draw. I saw lots of people doing work here, and my friend said she loved studying here. So if you're looking for a good study spot, give this place a try! read more

I want to like this place, but I'd give it 3 stars at best. I've been here many times over the years and sometimes it's good and other times, I've had bad customer service experiences that make me not want to come back. The desserts are good - not amazing. Everything here is a bit overpriced in my opinion. I do really like their vanilla cake which I've ordered a few times before. Sometimes I just want a little fix and not an entire cake so I wish they'd sell it by the slice in their case especially since vanilla is such a popular flavor. Their chili is pretty good also. First of all I must preface this review with the fact that I have no dietary restrictions and am not vegan. I have however come here several times over the years because my vegan/gluten-free pals love this place. I've tried the cookies and a few other treats that are alright. I've also in the past ordered lattes with regular milk and have really enjoyed it. Today though when I went with a friend we ordered iced coffees and they offered 4 non dairy options and it was impressive. When I asked the barista for milk (which I've definitely had before here...) I was told they don't have dairy products and I was taken aback by how rudely I was treated. It may seem funny that I am upset they removed dairy... But come on, just like vegans hope other cafes will offer non dairy options, and most do... It's not that bizarre to hope for milk. Some of my vegan pals really enjoy their treats but some have been deterred by the service. A disappointing day indeed. read more

My experience at Wildflour was amazing. It was my first time visiting and I bought as many things as I could to go back home with. The cupcakes were delicious and I'm not a fan of cupcakes at all. The lentil and kale soup was 100% hearty and full of flavor. The juice was great, the scones, the oat bar. I have not one complaint about the pastries or the service I had. I was visiting my good friend in providence from California and we stopped here on our way to Newburyport for a couple days. I have cut out caffeine so I went completely out of my comfort zone and got the beet latte. It was actually pretty good, definitely had an earthy flavor and beautiful color. I also got a garlic knot and a corn muffin, of which I have no pictures. I ate the garlic knot on the road and ate the corn muffin as a snack. I'm not a vegan but I would definitely go back next time I'm in town. read more

On my trip to Rhode Island , first time here ever and I'm so pleased I came ! I'm not a vegan but I will try just about anything when it comes to foodies. While my friends and I waited for a table in the nearby restaurant (owned by the same owner , check out my reviews to find out !) I ordered an interesting item off the menu...the cafe caliente. It consisted of coffee, cocoa,cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Definitely unique and boy did it have a kick! I can totally see this as being the perfect coffee drink for winter. This bakery is lovely and cozy, from its decor to atmosphere. Filled with vegan and gluten free baked goods as well as teas, coffees, smoothies and fresh juices. I stopped by before I headed back home to NJ, that time around I ordered a lavender lemonade. It tasted so pretty lol. Kinda reminded me of aromatherapy but drinkable. Totally refreshing , I wish I had another right now. I don't live anywhere near here sadly but rest Sure I will visit a third time again and I recommend to anyone to stop by here while visiting the providence area. read more

Hey non-vegans, do not poopoo the idea of vegan baked goods until you have given it a shot. I suck at Betty Crocker recipes so I can't even imagine the intricacies that go into recipes for vegan brownies, cupcakes, cakes...until I get my baking skills to where they need to be, I'll enjoy forking over a pretty penny for these delicious delights here. They have coffees, teas, juices, shakes, snacks & baked goods for humans and for pets too! I had a blood orange hibiscus unsweetened tea that was refreshing. I tried a little of the chocolate olive oil salt cookie and it was a good balance of chewy and crispy, salty and sweet. I absolutely loves the lavender lemon cupcake. I actually prefer vegan cupcakes to regular ones, at least at Wildflour! The only downfall is that they are just one location, close earlier (not like Pastiche hours) and tend to run out of things. read more

Super delicious treats just not a friendly feel when I went in here and same when I finally got served by an employee.

Had a delicious meal next door and decided to pop in here quickly for a little sweet treat. I ended up getting a chocolate chip cookie. I've only ever had the Gluten free ones but they now offer a regular one and it did not disappoint. The perfect balance of chewy and crunchy golden bits and the right balance of chocolate chips to cookie. The new space is HUGE! They did a great job with the space. I'm excited to go back when the place is bumpen as it was just before closing time and I feel like I missed out on some of the overall experience. Absolutely love their avocado toast. Lots of great healthy options when you're pressed for time. I typically get a smoothie and something from their grab and go cooler. While I am not vegan, I still enjoy all of the desserts that I have tried from them. They have a number of coffee based drinks as well, but I am not a coffee drinker. I love that they've just about doubled in size since the renovation - so much more indoor seating! If you're looking for something a little more substantial as far as a meal, you can pop next door to their sister restaurant. read more

I tried to get vegan takeout from Garden Grille Vegetarian Restaurant tonight on the way home from geocaching, but they said it would be 45 minutes. I saw Wildflour two doors down. They had lots of interesting and tasty looking premade vegan meals, but the tomato soup and chili called my name - hot food on a chilly day. Service was quick and friendly. The tomato soup was so creamy and flavorful. The chili was delicious and had a bit of a kick. I'm glad the other place was running behind. I highly recommend Wildflour. I am not a dessert person at all. I rarely have a sweet tooth, but when I do it's like national event. Wildflour Vegan Bakery and Cafè is an awesome bakery on the east side of Providence that has something for everyone. To say that vegan desserts taste better than most desserts I've had is a wild statement to say, but at Wildflour it's true. These are some of the best desserts I've ever had! Their cookie is my kryptonite, I will always have to get one whenever I'm there no matter what. I have tried so many of their cupcakes as well ranging from their s'mores cupcake to their carrot cake, but I must say their best cupcake is there cookie dough cupcake. It has a tiny piece of their delicious cookie on top and on the inside they include raw cookie dough! I've always wanted to try their pizza they make, but have never been in the mood when I've gone. Their smoothies are dope too. My favorite is their Silly-antro. The cilantro is the smoothie just gives it a refreshing taste. They have many flavors of smoothies, juices, wheat grass shots, and coffee and espresso. This is also a great place for gluten free desserts as well. Most of their desserts are gluten free and I can't tell the difference between gluten free and regular. Wildflour is also a great place to come and get work done with light music playing and the noise being relativlely low. read more

One of the most terrific winter tea concoctions ever conceived - lemon ginger. The new space is expansive, full of light and has energetic, bright, earthy decor. It's a comfortable place to meet a friend to catch up. Wildflour is a little pricey. Service is slow; sometimes a bit impersonal and abrupt. As with any coffee shop the ongoing annoyance are the laptop parkers - the pariah that nurse a latte for 6 hours while pretending to work on their next novel because they don't have WiFi at home. read more

Update 5/18/19 I still love Wildflour. Although, there is ONE thing that I am not pleased with and a friend of mine who goes there religiously noticed this change too. SMOOTHIES, SO SORRY NOW (the paper straw debacle) Due to the new paper straws they started watering down (and I mean waaaaay watering down) smoothies. So both he and I no longer order smoothies there- we both own Vitamixes and can make smoothies at home, so if a smoothie out isn't awesome (and theirs used to be great back when they first opened) we won't pay. Sorry, we understand paper straws make it harder to get the smoothie through, but, we tried ordering smoothies three times post paper straw implementation and noticed all three times the smoothies had drastically and permanently changed. SAVORY KNOTS The #1 thing that I live and breathe for when I go is hoping to get a savory knot on the days they have them. IF they sold these by the half dozen or dozen I would sooooo buy them by the dozen. Yuuummmmm! OTHER I love the expanded layout so happy for them that the expansion was super successful. Love to see a local business thrive and I've been visiting since well before they expanded. If you're ordering Taco Bell and good ol' mcdoodles your answer is most likely not once not ever. For my retired hoodlum boyfriend to say the gluten free carrot cake cupcake was divine is truly a miracle from the lord himself. Seriously though their smoothies are great, coffee is strong and subtle with their added flavorings. They have so many baked goods I come back to try a new one every time. Decided to take a drive to RI for the day and my first stop was at Wildflour! We had the whole fam with us: the hubs, kiddo, pup, and me. Hubs and I shared a bowl of the chili with the GF jalapeño cornbread. Kiddo had the PB and strawberry jam sandwich. We also had a GF blueberry lemon scone and a GF chocolate chip cookie. Pups of course had the homemade doggy biscuits. Everything was absolutely delicious! The hubs practically licked the bowl of chili clean. The jalapeño cornbread was incredible, the scone and cookie were moist and so tasty! I really appreciate vegan places that cook for both health and flavor - not relying on the boring, same old approaches to vegan food. We will definitely be back! read more

Who would have thought that one of RI's cutest and coziest cafes would be in a strip mall with trucks zooming by at 45 mph? The atmosphere here is great: lots of natural light and plenty of places to sit and do work. But what about the food? Let me get the obligatory "not a vegan" disclaimer out of the way. But even if you're a proud consumer of animal products, you'll be tempted by the bountiful pastry case here. I was looking forward to trying the vegan cheesecakes, but they looked kind of unappetizing and greasy for some reason, so I skipped them. Instead, I ordered a peanut butter brownie, a salted double chocolate olive oil cookie, and a hot coffee, which came to about $8.50 total. The cookie had a strong chocolate flavor and lots of chocolate chips, but it was crunchier and less chewy than I was expecting. Similarly, the brownie was really decadent and rich, but the texture was extremely dense -- it felt like a rock in my stomach. Overall, the flavor of my desserts did not disappoint, but texture is always the pitfall of vegan baked goods and that seems to be true here as well. I'm being a bit harsh: the pastries were still a great treat, but it's not like you can't tell they're vegan. I want to try more items: the pesto knot looked awesome, and I've heard good things about their cupcakes. The coffee was good too. I was surprised that they offer free almond milk and coconut milk to put in your coffee, since most places would upcharge for that. The smoothies and juices looked great, but holy cow (ha) are they expensive! I think I need to move into a different tax bracket before I can justify paying $8 for a smoothie! read more

The food and drinks are great. It's great when waiting in line at Garden Grill and you can get a free coffee. But when I went to get my coffee, the cashier was pretty rude with attitude. She's white, a little short and no glasses. I was trying to get a raw cheese cake and ask what's the ingredient, she told me the cake is expensive instead of telling me the ingredient.
