my husband and I have been in the market for a Murphy bed for a really long time, especially now that we have a toddler and our guest bedroom has to pull double-duty as my office, and my parents visit regularly (and need a comfortable place to sleep) to help us watch the kiddo. after much shopping around, we chose Wilding Wall Beds, and my parents really generously decided to gift the Murphy bed to us. we submitted our order, which ended up being over $7,000, and waited the 2 months for the order to be built/fulfilled. it shipped on time, and we were so excited, but then things went way downhill. the bed (which was shipped in four boxes, over 600 lbs total) was shipped via Fedex and arrived in our area within a couple days, but it was then handed off on Monday to a local logistics partner for "final mile" delivery. unfortunately, this local company has been awful. it has been six days and, every single day, we've contacted them and been told they "have to check" when they can deliver it. they repeatedly told us they would call back with an update/confirmation, but they never did. we had to call each morning, just to be given the same run-around. by Friday morning, we were fed up. when I called them, they told me it was confirmed for delivery that night, 4-8pm. I let them know that this was brand new information, that we had never confirmed or made arrangements for that time, but that I no longer cared and just wanted the thing delivered. the agent on the phone assured me multiple times that it would be delivered that night. meanwhile, Wilding Wall Beds' shipping coordinator spoke with the local carrier, too, and told us that (1) a supervisor outright lied, saying we had rejected a 1-5pm delivery window the prior day; and (2) they were gonna deliver the bed by 4pm that day, instead. 4pm came and went. 8pm came and went. nothing and no one ever showed up. and no one ever contacted us. so, here's the issue with Wilding Wall Beds: obviously, the incompetence of the local carrier isn't their fault. but, Wilding is the one who contracted with them to be the "final mile" partner. and, Wilding doesn't seem to have any power to make sure the product you pay for actually ends up in your hands. they were getting the same run-around as us and couldn't/didn't do anything about it. to their credit, they did sympathize with the frustration and told us they would refund the cost so that we could order a bed somewhere else, or decide for ourselves if we wanted to order with them again (with no clarification on whether or not they could address the shipping issues next time). it seems like they don't want to deal with this headache either, so they'd rather just cut their losses, wash their hands of it, and send us on our way to start this entire process over with another company. it seems like other folks have had good experiences with Wilding Wall Beds, and maybe their beds are as great quality as they say, but I will never know because it's not gonna get delivered. just adding my experience here, since the only other reviews online are via their own website, and they don't allow Google reviews.... which seems really strange. I'm really grateful that it sounds like we won't have to pay for this $7k product we never received, but it really sucks that they don't seem to have the logistics sorted out--in my area, at least--and we now have to figure something else out 2 months later. EDIT: have upgraded our review from 1-star to 4 stars, as the company did end up making sure we got the product finally delivered. as evidenced by their reply to this review, they ended up escalating our issue to the Shipping Manager (from the Shipping Coordinator) and somehow getting the bed to a different last-mile vendor who finally showed up. we've been able to assemble and install our Murphy bed and it looks great, with good quality--just a few scratches and dings here and there that can be easily touched up. we'd recommend Wilding to friends and family now, with only the caveat to stay alert about shipping & delivery. read more

Customer service never followed through on several issues I had with our Wallbed which included a split/cracked crown moulding and incorrect hardware. Reached out several times with no response. I would like to share my experiences of purchasing a Queen Santa Fe Sofa Wall Bed from Wilding, a process that took several weeks and multiple calls and emails with Trent Aldredge due to the size of the room and a ceiling fan which might have proven itself an insurmountable problem. Trent was patient and as I kept sending and at times altering dimensions and clearances he was supportive, sending me architectural diagrams to verify the feasibility of the project; eventually, I ordered the bed you see in the images provided. It isn't every day that I spend $7,000 over the phone or online, and a great many factors entered into the decision: 1) materials, 2)design, 3)construction, 4) Installation, 5) confidence in the people on the other end of the phone, and 6) all the little details Wilding has built into their organization. MATERIALS: Oak, oak veneer, and all wood construction, not melamine, particle board, or cheaper substitutes. DESIGN: There were only a few companies with the Sofa/Wall Bed OIption, and none were as attractive as the Wilding bed we chose. CONSTRUCTION: I watched all the videos, not that I intended to install it myself, but to get a feel for the way the bed was put together. INSTALLATION: Part of this is the design, the spring/lift assembly, but primarily this is one of only two companies that have designed a wall bed that does not require it being bolted to the floor. We have a cement slab floor with radiant-heating pipes so floor mounting would be difficult if not perilous risking hitting a pipe. CONFIDENCE: Trent, Caden, and Kim, all of whom I dealt with were courteous, friendly, and knowledgable and when one of them said they would get back to you the call was always made, the samples were in the mailbox, the commitment was always met. THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS: The Little Things, such as a well-designed website that allows you to pick and choose options, evaluate costs, understand delivery options, and make the right choices for you at each step of the ordering process. A Touch-Up Kit for the inevitable mishap at some point in the future, the detailed video step-by-step installation guide along with the instructions, and the clearly packaged and labeled hardware preventing missteps along the way. All of this was what led us to choose Wilding. Our new wall bed/sofa has turned our overcrowded room with its undersized antique bed is now Martha's workout room and study/office, with/ a queen-sized Serta mattress which will be a pleasure for our guests. I purchased my Wilding Wallbed in 2009. My wall-bed is still in perfect condition even though I have been using it daily for 15 years.

This is by far the best custom furniture experience I've had. I searched for cheaper beds but all of them failed to excite me with reviews pointing out shoddy material, terrible opening and closing experiences for the Murphy beds and really terrible customer service and instructions to put together. Wilding was awesome on all fronts. The solid sturdy construction is top of the line. I got the Murphy Britney floating desk model. When my Handiman was putting it together there was one screw missing and glen from shipping went back to the office on Friday night to overnight me the part for Saturday morning so my installer could complete the installation. This customer service was awesome. The owner was in regular contact with me and the communication around shipping was super This was not an inexpensive purchase by any means but it was worth every penny. I feel like it increased the value of my condo and gave me back valuable space in s limited space living situation. We recently renovated a small vacation home and despite my nervousness, our contractor said this was one of the easiest things they had to assemble. They were impressed with the quality of the wood and that's saying a lot for a couple of northern woodworkers! Our third BR is tiny; we wanted to use it as a gym but have room for guest overflow. We installed a twin wallbed in an existing closet and our contractor matched the wood exactly for the adjacent closet. We asked Wilding to leave off the handles and added our own. DO NOT BUY THEIR BED. The bed is straight up unsafe to use. I would never, ever, sleep or let someone sleep on a bed by Wilding Wallbed. The bed is designed such that it has an outer frame that you are supposed to attach to the wall, and the center part (where the mattress goes) slides in the middle. There are two pistons connecting the two parts, and when the bed is up, the piston is in its natural, un-extended position (that is, not making any force). However, the fundamental flaw is when the bed is down. When the bed is down, the pistons locations are such that there is a STRONG force pulling it up. The bed (with mattress) will not go up since it is extremely heavy (more on that later), so what happens is that this insane force is being transferred to the frame attached to the wall, and thus, to the studs. The attachment of the bed on the wall is not simply "to be safe", it is ABOSLUTELY necessary. The bed needs to be attached and all this force from the pistons are being transferred to the SIX screws they provided. The way it is designed, the screws go on top of the bed, and the force is such that are pulling the screws out, perpendicular to the studs. The studs are being pulled in the same direction they were inserted! This is different, than, say, you attach a shelf to the wall and load it with books. This is equivalent of putting a few screws into the studs and pull it out in the same direction you inserted them. The problem with this bed is that this pulling is happening at all times when the bed is down. In other words, every time someone is laying down, there is a very high force pulling the screws out of the studs. The bed is EXTREMELY heavy. I cannot stress that enough. I've watched carefully all the assembly videos on their website before purchasing, noting the effort required to move. The videos are very, very, very misleading. The bed weighs so so so much. I am a healthy male in my 30s and struggle to lift one side of the bed. Bringing this bed inside your home is an absolute tough job, especially if you are going up a flight of stairs. Why is the weight relevant to this discussion, you ask? Well, if this attachment point fails, the person using the bed is hit with the plywood headboard (in the face) at very very significant force from the pistons. The weight just adds to it. This bed can cause severe injury, possibly something worse. Just not worth for a bed in my opinion. I have communicated with Wilding Wallbed several times about my safety concern and was met with resistance from them. They blamed the pistons and have then sent me different pairs. Nothing has changed, as the pistons were working as designed. The problem is with the bed and its fundamental design flaw. You know how when you open the trunk of you car, the pistons are trying to close it shut, but when you're past a certain point, it just tries to open it? That is a well-placed piston. Analogously, this bed is like the trunk is constantly trying to shut close no matter what. Then you try to keep it open by attaching some cord to a few screws up the ceiling of your garage. Now someone is sleeping right under it! You can see if the screws on the ceiling fail, the trunk will close shut. That is the design of this bed! My concerns were dismissed by them through several calls, including with Dennis, who appears to be the owner of the company. Dennis said said I was worried about my stud failing, and that the bed does not have any design flaw whatsoever. At this point, since the bed is unsafe to be used as a bed, I inquired about returning it. I had been quoted about $2500 in loss to return it, including shipping both ways, and a restocking fee! They charged me a restocking fee to return an unsafe product!!!!! I asked about the restocking fee and was told that Dennis thinks I am worried about _my_ wall, and the bed is fine, so they will charge a restocking fee. At this point and given the loss, I decided to keep the bed and use it as a mattress storage. It is a beautiful mattress storage furniture, you just can't move it. Bottom line is: completely unsafe bed. You risk severe injury, potentially something worse, if it fails. Given its design, it's just a matter of time for it to fail. Owner dismisses safety concerns and blames consumer's wall/stud. Full disclosure: I paid over $3500 for the bed (including delivery shipping) and kept it because returning would cost me about $2500. My views and conclusions are based on my background in engineering, albeit not in mechanical behavior of materials like wood to be able to tell exactly if the tiny screws they provided are enough (I have a bachelors in mechanical and a PhD in aerospace). read more

On October 26, 2020 I sent a "please contact me" message to Wilding Wallbeds. Approximately 3 min later Penny called me.  She asked me what I was looking for and we talked about the beds I had seen on their website.  The one I wanted was going to take approximately 15 weeks to get to me which wasn't going to work for us.  Penny then asked if she could call me back in the morning because she knew they were going to have new in stock items beginning November 1st.   The next morning she called me and said they had a bed similar to the one I liked but she couldn't order it until November 1st.  I was ecstatic!  This was working out great!  I gave her my info and anticipated that she would call November 1st to confirm the order.  The next day, Penny called and said her manager said she could go ahead and get the order started.  The customer service they provide is outstanding from the beginning to end.  Delivery was easy and on time.  Prior to my handyman coming to put the bed together, I sent him links to the installation videos.  When he arrived he knew exactly what needed to be done and said he wished every job he did had such easy to follow directions. I almost forgot to add that the Newport bed is beautiful and the quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding! If you felt the need to write a review on this company then you were either extremely satisfied with your purchase or had a horrible experience with Wilding Wallbeds. In my case it's the latter. First I would like to point out the great efforts of the few who have done their jobs and at least sought remedies with me: Penny from sales, Kim from shipping, and Sam. My poor experience stems less from the efforts of people from the sales department than it does the main office and the manner in which Wilding Wallbeds operates overall and how they handle shipping. I ordered my bed back in February 28th and was informed by the wonderful Penny (A.K.A Ms. Brightside) that the materials for the bed would take time to prepare and be ready in the warehouse for assembly and that it would take longer than usual to receive the Bi-Fold bookcase I wanted. Great, I told her I had no problem waiting for a product I've seen and read online that was supposedly high quality. Then in March I made a down-payment of $2000 for the bed to which I was informed after that they would not be able to ship the bed even after assembling it until after I had paid it off in full. Great, that seemed fair enough. Down the line I call to update my order to replace the CF 1000 mattress with the CF200 that they just added to their inventory in May and low and behold I receive a "Yes we are selling those but currently don't have it in stock." They had Penny call me back to convince me why I ought not to purchase the new bed I wanted since it's an inconvenience to the order and that they sell more CF 1000 than they do CF 2000 because "It's too firm." And, I'd also have to exercise more patience to receive an omniphase Molouf bed sheet that would, for some reason, be shipped out separately from my bed in the NEXT MONTH. So because I worked with Penny before and she's a lively Mrs. Brightside - great, I told her no problem and that I'll settle for the CF 1000. Further down the line I called just around the time they said the bed would be delivered, July 21st (latest July 23rd). Come to find out this time that Penny is unsure why I haven't received the bed yet and so she transfers me to shipping where I meet the insightful Kim to discuss the whereabouts of my order. Big surprise, she didn't know where it was and could not track it down at the time so she promised to call me back while she looked into it. 2 Weeks later she gave me a call to say that she was informed from the Docking Warehouse somewhere in Newburgh New York that they lost my order. Again, they somehow lost 1 pallet containing 7 boxes of bed frame material and mattress weighting 775. She apologizes and offers to create a new bed and a $300 shipping refund. At this point I've lost confidence in Wilding's shipping procedures and practice as well as the miscommunication between them and the storage warehouses they contract with. She explained what she would do differently this time is to send it over through Fed Ex straight to home shipping at no extra cost. Once again, their relentless and accommodating customer service and promise of good craftsmanship convinced me to give Wilding Wallbeds one final chance in delivering me the so-called great Wilding experience they claim to have given many others on their website. I asked how long it would take the shipping refund to come through and Kim responded with no longer than 72 hours. Great, new bed, new shipping method, and $300 refund and I left it at that. Four days later I noticed my bank hadn't received any credit transaction pertaining to a $300 refund from Wilding or so I contacted Kim and she was just as baffled as I was. She informed me that if it did not show up by Friday 08/06/2021 to contact her again. Friday comes around and nothing yet, I figure I would save her the call just in case it goes through the next week on Monday so I send her an E-mail instead. The next week I check again and just in case I check my credit card as well, nothing. I called again Monday afternoon. This time Kim was not in so I was forwarded to the main office where an incompetent Beth informed me, in a manner of "As a matter of fact," that they did in fact refund me the $300 amount on August 3rd. I told her great, I already knew when they meant to send the refund but that I've yet to actually receive it on my end. She looked into it (which took her more than 10 minutes for some reason) and called me back with an excuse as to how they messed up sending me the refund. At this point not only did they lose my bed and my shipping refund but also have lost all my patience. In asking them to cancel the production of the 2nd bed being made and sending me a full refund for the entire order she completely lost her mind and thought it a great idea to send me a check through UPS shipping. . . March 11th 2022 Retraction, The company responded via email early next morning, I then followed up with a phone call. Spoke with Jake in sales, after explaining the situation he/they were very understanding and we made special arrangements to have item returned and they even offered a full refund option or have another part replaced. Jake even offered to have the replacement evaluated himself before shipping out! For this reason, I am feeling the confidence to in fact upgrade to one of their wallbeds instead of replacing the cabinet bed we had trouble with. So far things are in the works of returning the product and hopefully, the newer choice piece meets the same quality of customer service we had received thus so far. Could not believe when it was put together, I barely sat on edge of the foot of the bed, and it make a loud cracking noise! We were so afraid to lay on it. I went so much as to barely place my rt foot on top to try to give it a push in sturdy test, but with the littlest pressure, it was cracking and even pulling away from the wood inlet frame. This company should immediately provide full refund and shipping regardless of their return policy. My 4yr could not even lay on it without the sound of it about to break I was so disappointed. I am awaiting their response. Even if they refund entire amount and shipping, as they should, I could not in good faith change my review star rating, because it is such an inconvenient thing to put together and now we have to rewrap and hull this thing or ship to them! I do not wish this on anyone. If they do the right thing, I would do a follow up review to let the public know that they at least did the honorable thing. Received the captain's bed frame about 4 months after my initial order. I was extremely excited. Until setup began. The setup is painful and it became clear that while the bed looked nice, it was not produced with good quality materials. The legs for the center support pulled right out immediately, the bed came with an un-needed attachment which led to a call to customer service. This company makes well designed and engineered Murphy Beds. I ordered one for my guest room having found the company on the internet. I spoke with someone who answered my questions and made suggestions based on our conversation then ordered their "Disappearing desk" model. I had to put one half down, then it took two months to complete the order. My credit card was charged before I was notified by the company that the bed was on its way. It arrived five business days after it shipped. I am very pleased with the Murphy bed, but I must say that the representative could have prepared me for the amount of work putting it together would be, described the manner in which it would be packaged and how it would be shipped. It arrived in a huge tractor trailer on a pallet with two giant boxes that weighed 805 pounds. The driver told me that this level of shipping required him to leave it on the curb. It arrived a day later than the shipping company scheduled with me, so my husband was not home to help unpack the boxes on the curb in the dark and take the pieces into the house. Fortunately, the driver took pity on me and took the pallet to the front of the garage for me. What arrived is basically a kit that you totally put together. A video was provided or you can download it on your device. Luckily, my husband has experience with woodworking and after watching the video and downloading the video onto his phone, we were able to complete the assembly. I would caution, though, that this requires a fairly expert level of experience, despite the well engineered kit. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is due to the fact that perhaps 90% of the Murphy bed is "furniture quality plywood" with only 10% solid wood. I was under the impression, mostly the high price, and from the representative that this was mostly solid hardwood. Also, a more accurate description of the assembly process and shipping particulars would have been helpful. read more

We just had bunk beds installed. This is our second Wilding Wallbed purchase. The beds look great and give us great options when kids/grandkids visit. Wilding provides a range of options in color, finish and configurations. Trent did a great job in walking us through what would work best for our needs. The build process is taking quite long now (3+ months for us) so factor that into your decision-making. Jason, Ian and Chris did a perfect (and fast) installation. We had some issues with the shipping company and a few missing parts in the kit, but Kim in the shipping department was absolutely outstanding in solving the shipping problems as well as overnighting the missing parts. Yes, this review is "as good as it gets"... After a lot of research and two trips to our local Wilding Wallbeds store in El Segundo, CA, we pulled the trigger on a "kit" to save money. To further save money, I picked up the bed at the Chino Hills store, so I've had a chance to meet three employees of Wilding Wallbeds, and talked to 4. In EACH CASE these people were smart, listened well, and seemed very straightforward and direct. There was no pressure, no "sales pitches", but instead informed answers to questions. The boxes came and Rich helped me load them into my truck. When I opened them the next day I found that the trim pieces of oak I had ordered had mill-work that I didn't request. Not a big deal, but I'd have to send it back. My lovely wife and I proceeded to follow the well-documented directions (huge kudos to the authors) we found that we were short some of the required oak edging. Bummer. On Monday I wrote an email explaining the situation and got a very fast response from a couple of the people cced. True to form, they were direct in their responses and immediately sought to get me what I needed. Later that day I got a phone call from another, new nice guy named Dennis who was following up with a question about the trim kit I wanted. I told him I'd consult my bed-building partner and get back to him. Well... Dennis's last name, I find out, is "Wilding". Dennis was following up personally, And since we've exchanged emails. He and his team are really bending over backwards to get me the material I need to complete the kit, sent directly to my home. What is one to say about this kind of service? We just purchased our second wallbed from Wilding: this time a cabinet bed, which is the perfect addition to our newly remodeled guest room. It's very sturdy and the mattress is really quite comfortable. It does require a bit of assembly when it arrives, but we were able to handle it easily. Our first Wilding wallbed was purchased about 20 years ago and has been moved with us three times to new homes and it's still in perfect condition.
