We were here over Christmas. We had a great stay. Free breakfast buffet each morning (which always included buscuits & gravy). Rooms were clean and comfy. Each room has a big flatscreen, minifridge, and microwav and coffee maker. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Across the parking lot os a nice restaurant called Machine Shed, and the room rates were downright affordable. read more

This was my first trip to Pewaukee for a business meeting and my first stay at Wilderness Lodge. The motel was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back for my next meeting. The pool was nice. The area for sitting by the pool was large and you could have privacy with your group. I appreciated the bathrooms being in the area and not having to go out into the lobby for another bathroom. There was Happy Hour with free beer and wine. Several guests were sitting at the bar the evening I was there taking advantage of the offer. I asked if there was a discount for the two restaurants next to the motel but unfortunately there is not. The room was big with a couch and a comfortable king size bed. The air-conditioning worked and was quiet. There was a minifridge, microwave, coffee maker and a desk where i could set up my laptop to work in the morning, The room didn't have a closet to hang my work clothes but did have pegs that I used. There wasn't an ironing board or iron in the room. I agree the room could use modernization, but I was happy it was clean and safe. Free breakfast is offered Apples and bananas, eggs, bread, bagels, biscuits and gravy, French toast sticks, cereal and a waffle maker. I would have liked a stronger plate rather than a paper plate, but appreciated the breakfast and understand it is an easy clean up. read more

Better than anticipated based on pictures and some other reviews. Things we enjoyed: lots of things to entertain big kids (adults) and little kids in what we called "our living room," which is the lobby area of the hotel. Noise from playing seemed to be accepted and ok by most other guests and the front desk employees welcomed the play. The pool was nice! Good area for sitting at the pool and towels available. The free happy hour was very much enjoyed and appreciated. This is something that seems nonexistent these days. Bartender was very nice! Breakfast included! Rooms were spacious and beds were decently comfortable. Things that were ehh: The hot tub was, as my children described, "a kiddie pool" because "the hot tub was cold." Still enjoyable but for a different reason. The towels at the pool may need replacing as they had holes in them and were about the size of a hand towel. Breakfast being included was a perk, but nothing to write home about. Almost every day was the same- green apples, packages of oatmeal, bread, tortillas, plain bagels, white powder donuts, muffins, eggs, link sausage, and either French toast sticks or pancakes (which were rock hard), 3 cereals, and waffle maker. It did the job but could be improved with more fruit, switching up the choices for hot dishes, etc. Our room didn't have a closet or pegs or anything to hang anything up. There was a dresser (sorta) with the TV on it. 3 regular drawers that would only stay closed if we wedges tissues between the gaps. No ironing board/iron but was available to use from the front desk. Our room had a very funky smell, and it wasn't until the end of our stay that I realized it was chlorine that was I smelling! We were on the pool side- yes, our room looked down at the pool as our "view," which seemed odd. Also not the best room because if anyone was in the pool you got to hear all their yelling and screaming...and even simple conversations. There was no way to ventilate our room, so we just made sure not to spend much time in it aside from sleeping. Upon opening the door to our room, we were always shocked by the very strong chlorine odor that escaped. Drains for both the sink and the tub need to be fixed. Very slow to drain. Mini fridge was very loud, as was the ac unit turning on and off with clanking noises all night long. Overall it was totally fine for what we needed. If you need different perks or service or things in your room, maybe look elsewhere. Good low key hotel for a quick family stay. read more

Against my better judgement, we changed our reservation at the last minute for this hotel instead of the Marriott West to save a little money. The mixed reviews online are absolutely accurate. The staff is friendly and while the place is technically "clean" it's badly in need of updates. The carpets, the shower curtains, the towels (had holes in them - like cigarette burns almost), the heater, the paint and wallpaper. It looks like it's never had updates. Not all plugs actually work unless switches are on - watch that for your phones! Heating unit is incredibly noisy! Hotel hot tub heater is mixed at best - it was like taking a warm bath at best. They said the heater isn't working consistently. It feels like a hotel for locals to take their kids in the winter to give them a pool break. And for that, sure. But if you're a traveler looking for respite while away for work, family or other events, this just isn't that nice of a space. I would not stay here again, no matter the price read more

We were in town for a wedding. We flew in fro out of state.The decor is quaint but tired. The facility itself could do with some updating. Upon arrival, we found out that the pool would not be available for use. Our room appeared at least clean but does have a musty odor. Our tub does not drain properly. There are lighting issues. Others in our group have rooms where the windows leaked during a rain storm to the point of leaving a puddle on the carpet. Some were double charged for their rooms and have yet to receive reimbursement. Our hostess chose this hotel due to location and being told that there would be bartender service available Saturday night after her event. After multiple rooms were booked, we were told that there would be no service. There is no fruit offered in the breakfast area. They have had the same hot breakfast items the 3 days that we have been here. The waffles are terrible. We were not offered any compensation for any of these inconveniences. I would never recommend this property to anyone. Definitely subpar for what they charge for a room rate. I have no idea how they have a 3 star rating read more

The women in charge in the evenings had a horrible attitude. All the people working for her were amazing and kind. I would only recommend this place to people I don't like. People I have a real problem with. 3 of the rooms toilets took 15 seconds to flush so hold it down. My room smelled like cat pee. Stayed here for two nights, on a work trip, so hotel was chosen for our group. Hotel overall is tired and worn, but I was fine to look beyond that part. Front desk staff was friendly and polite. Sadly, the room was very disappointing. I was a little skeptical of the cleanliness and wiped down surfaces such as the desk top, bedside tables, etc with wet wipes. It was hard to tell if the shower floor was dirty or worn, but I ran the hottest water I could before using the shower. It happened to be a handicap accessible room, and there was a shower chair in the bathroom. I was not in need of it, but it was very obvious it hadn't been cleaned. However, the most unsettling part of the room was when getting ready for bed, I pulled back the sheets and found hair in the bed and on the pillows. Clearly the sheets hadn't been changed. I called the front desk and she offered to bring new sheets right away. The new sheets were thin and worn and a bit musty smelling. She helped me remake the bed, but unfortunately the experience ruined both nights sleep for me. Not changing the sheets is a huge red flag and really makes you doubt the cleanliness of the rest of the place. read more

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever been at. Ghetto asf. A spider was in my shower, the room was crusty, a pubic hair was on the toilet seat when I entered the room, and there was a curly hair in the bedsheets when I opened up the covers to sleep. Do you want to hear how I slept? I curled into a ball and slept in the cold over the covers. And that was not the worst of it. The bottom of the tub in the KING SUITE was yellow and felt like sand paper. I refused to shower. Although I currently smell, I do not regret a thing. What I do regret is wasting my money at this "lodge". It is the Aldi's version of Great Wolf Lodge. You are better off spending a little more at the Holiday Inn right across the street. read more

Horrible accommodations. I found myself stuck here on a work trip that was booked through corporate travel. This is not a place I would stay on my own dime and feel safe by myself, or any place I would stay with my family either. Unfortunately, a good nights sleep was not had here and I had to move my room because it was attached to a balcony on the ground floor that connected to the indoor pool. A very loud obnoxious indoor pool that is open till 10:30 PM. This place is very subpar for a hotel, everything from the uncaring front desk staff to the loud noisy people that it attracts here. My hotel room literally had pictures of shotguns on the wall as decor. The atrium where the bar is located makes so much noise that even an interior room away from the pool is still very loud in the evening. Walls are thin and the rooms are cheaply done and very basic. I also wrote our hotel committee to let them know this is not going to be OK for any future business travel, and I also included photos of the room and a detailed email including the issues with the service, pool and the atrium. Holiday inn is just across the street! Run don't walk. read more

Went here for a night with the kids so they could swim and have fun. Hotel was extremely crowded with no social distancing in place (although Waukesha county did end all restrictions the night prior. There were a few big groups that were up until 3 am making so much noise in the hallway!!! Also, pool was not heated!! Very annoyed about that as my little ones were freezing. Ruined a wedding! Not only was this place bad, they called the cops because mother of the bride was oversold and upset, told the bar would be open and it wasn't. I drove for 10 hours. I was so exhausted at check in tehy charged me $169 for a room I booked for $129. The room was dirty. I cleaned for 35 mins and still I couldn't reach the cob webs and the bathroom ... There is a blood stain in 1 bed. They have charged my card $623.36 and I am checking out in the AM. The manager has let me know I can get $20 off the cost of the night or I can leave without cancellation fee because I stated I didn't want to change rooms. I just used my entire container of Clorox wipes cleaning eveey surface. Even the door was disgusting. We're still dealing with a pandemic why would any surface be left so filthy. Online daily housekeeping is offered. My son registered me from December 15th through December 19th. The total cost was $583.00. I arrived late in the evening and filled out paperwork including leaving a copy of my debit card in case of damages to the room. I retired upstairs and left early the next morning. When I returned to my room eight hours later the housekeeper had not been in. I went downstairs to inquire what happened? The young girl at the desk said "due to Covid housekeeping is only done if you stay seven days or longer. " She quickly pointed to a sign on the desk with small print and a lot of it! Unfortunately when you book online you can't see this sign. I missed it when I was waiting for 15 minutes trying to check in and signing my life away. I have issues seeing close as it is! I think this is a pretty important issue to bring up when your checking guests in. By the way their was a sign up that said HIRING! Is this the reason housekeeping is every 7 days? I saw this because it was under my nose right next to where you are checking in and not at the other end of the desk! This very sweet girl told me to toss my wet towels outside my door and she would get them! Talk about Covid! I pleasantly refused and said"I can hang my own wet towels all around the room! If you promise daily housekeeping online and people are making reservations online and you get to the hotel and you find out you have to stay for 7 days to get housekeeping that is unacceptable! This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever been in. The room was still dirty, crumbs from the previous person staying in my room were left on the nightstand, a to-go cup lid was under the dresser, hairs on the bathroom floor, and leftover food in the fridge. I was so upset because they could have cared less that the room was dirty, had zero urgency on correcting the situation, and the front desk guy (who claimed to be the manager) was terribly rude. They had signs up in the hotel that masks were required for everyone, and staff wasn't even using them. Some Covid prepared claims.. they had proper signs saying they were safe and clean, and to our surprise it was completely opposite. This place is disgusting! Do not stay! read more

Really enjoyed our stay here, came for our anniversary and got the romance package which gave us a king suite with whirlpool, champagne with keepsake glasses, cheese platter and fruit platter and $50 towards thunder bay grille or machine shed, we chose thunderbay. Staff was very friendly, rooms clean, hotel clean and pleasant! Free breakfast was better than some other breakfasts at other hotels. We really enjoyed our stay here, would come back again! The Breakfast here is amazing! Breakfast starts at 6:30. The pool is open till 11:00 pm. One of my favorite hotels!

Upon first sight, wow. What a beautiful lodge themed hotel with an indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub for $100a night with breakfast. Say it ain't so! We checked in with a friendly lady who had our reservation pulled up. We signed and gave our credit card and were given key cards and directions to our room and info on the morning breakfast. We walked into the room and it was very nice. A counter with microwave, coffee maker, small mini fridge. There's a sitting area with a pull out sofa and a half wall partition next to two queen beds. A writing table and tv cabinet with flat screen tv. Bathroom had a tub shower combo, big mirror and hair dryer. Also shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap and a sign saying if you forgot it, ask us for complimentary items. I didn't forget, But I presumed these items may include things like toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shower cap. I think that's great they offer extra amenities like that. We got a pool room with a slider straight out to the pool deck. This was awesome! The staff made sure the pool and hot tub was hot enough for us and all our family members as we had multiple rooms to celebrate a family reunion. Everything was great until the power went out. Apparently someone hit an electric pole outside and half the building lost power. We asked what was happening and they gave us little information on when power would be restored. Fortunately one of our rooms still had electricity, so we moved into the room to finish our night. It was a bit of a bummer for some of the younger kids to have to cut swimming short, but the hot tub quickly cooled with no electricity. We sat up for hours playing games and having fun. We started to smell something burning, like electrical or melting plastic. It became quite overwhelming. We notified the staff and a lady seemed bothered about our concerns. A gentleman, older guy who checked on us earlier in the day about the pool temp, came out to check on our concern. He checked in the utility room next to our bedroom and could smell the odor, but was unable to pinpoint a problem. We left the door by the pool ajar to circulate the air. Just a little unnerving to want to go to sleep somewhere that has lost power with a burning smell. The gentleman felt it was in the airduct system and it was likely from the power surge. Some of the rooms we had, where the younger group went to sleep didn't even know about the power outage 'til around 4:30am when lights intermittently came on and off. We asked for a room that had power and the front desk person after midnight was happy to oblige us and allow us to keep both rooms so we didn't have to move all of our stuff just to go to sleep, charge phones and see going to the bathroom. We woke up to power and a full breakfast! Fresh made pancakes, eggs, bacon, cereal, yogurt, juices, coffee, etc. There was something for everyone. Overall this could have been a 5 STAR experience if not for the unfortunate accident, power outage and the not so helpful female staff member we experienced earlier in the evening. had to evacuate my home in the middle of the night during a massive snowstorm, from my 1st phone call at 1am and spoke with Brendon to check in at 3am with Brendon, great. he was so comforting, welcoming and accommodating. finally got some sleep and went downstairs for their awesome continental breakfast - which is anything from continental - its a full buffet! scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal, bakery, coffee etc - this breakfast would have cost atleast 20 bucks at a cafe. thats where i met Jennifer. she was super nice and personable. had good conversation and she really does everything there. hard worker! the cleaning lady Josie super sweet, always smiling, and made it in the whole weekend - in a snow storm (they all did!). I met Kelsey too, at the front desk. super cool chic, and went out of her way to find answers to my questions. all the staff were super cool, calm and collected during this snow storm in which they were bombarded with locals seeking refuge from delafield to milwaukee. I met the nicest ppl staying there too and even ran into a few of my friends. lol during check out i did have to have a extended call to Heather to correct a billing detail, who was more than helpful and nice! i can not say anything bad about the service or the staff. Now, my room - perfect location - loved it. however it faced the pool which was open until 11pm. some of the visitors had no respect and allowed their kids to yell and scream until the lights were shut off - so that was a bit frustrating. i kept my wall fan on to help drown out some of the noise from the pool, and after 3 days my skin was soo chaffed, chapped and dry - i looked horrible (also from lack of sleep from the kids) it took a week of moisturizing my body when i got back home. the room did also smell like chlorine which i had to prop open my door to air out the room. the lodge does need a good dusting, looking down to the lobby from the 2nd floor- idk when the last time that has been dusted and i have to admit was gross to think about. the lodge would benefit with some fresh paint and a facelift. the bar in the lobby is not open on the weekends (which is fine) but the bar staff also did not clean the bar when they worked last and dirty towels, dishes etc were visual. along with the bar just looking cluttered and unkept. i had no problem with the cleansiness of my room, however i did wonder if the bed linens were fresh and i did find some weird toy between the fridge and wall (glad my dog didnt find that)(yes they accept dogs! which was totally awesome!). all and all i did enjoy my stay and i cant complian about the accomindiations/value for price/and the over all friendly staff whom all deserve recognition for their outstanding jobs! as far as the condition of the hotel itself - thats on the owners. i would go back, but i would ask for a room on the other side of the hall not facing the pool. read more

Room was immaculately clean, and remained so throughout our stay. That's always my number one priority. But...despite the unique lodge decor, the hotel is a little "tired" and worn. We were on the third floor on the back side, so had noise from I-94 all night. The mini-fridge was noisy when it came on and off, as was the fan whenever the heat came on. There was no way to keep the fan on the heat/AC unit running all the time to create "white noise", which would have drowned out some of the traffic and other noise. The room was also very dark - even with all the lights and lamps turned on and the drapes open. Needs better bulbs or more lighting. The breakfast selection had a lot of breads, pastries, cereals, and a waffle maker - but the "cooked" portion was not so great. One morning the eggs and sausage were dry and cold, another morning they were hot, but under-cooked and watery! The third morning we were there, we went out to breakfast. Coffee, cookies, and fruit were available in the lobby throughout the day - sometimes. Sometimes the coffee was hot, sometimes it was cold. Sometimes there were cookies, sometimes there were not. When the coffee was cold one evening, I tried to find someone at the desk to let them know, but no one was around. This could be a really nice place - with a few updates and just a little more attention to detail! read more

This was my first time staying here. I'm that person that always checks the beds and the pillows because I travel a lot. Sad to say that there were pubic hairs on my sheets when I turned the covers back and there was also hair on my pillows. Of course I took photos. However, I called downstairs and let them know and someone immediately came up. When I showed it to her she apologized and change both beds because both beds had hair in it. She was very apologetic and changed everything out on my bed and the other one too. The facility itself is very nice, checking in was awesome. I think they should have turkey sausage along with the other choices. Not everyone eats pork. read more

So disappointed. Have been coming for 6 years. New management has new rules. No longer family friendly for kids' tournaments. Very intolerant...of everything. This is our first time staying at the Wildwood Lodge. In summary it was a pleasant experience and we'd probably stay here again when visiting the area. PROS - Love the outdoorsy ambience throughout the hotel, especially in the lobby. Very nice. - Nice indoor pool and hot tub with plenty of open space in the pool room (tables, lounge chairs) - Complimentary breakfast. I didn't have to wait at all at around 8:30. Food was good. - Our room was spacious, with 2 queens, a small wall divider, and couch and table area. - Parking was always available - Wifi worked fine the first night with about 3-5 Mbps bandwidth available when I tested it. Not great these days, but enough for browsing on my phone. CONS - Wifi the next morning didn't have enough bandwidth available to use my laptop. Measured less than 0.5 Mbps. Perhaps it gets used more in the morning and was congested. I was unable to do the work I planned on doing while my family slept in. read more

I stayed here for my competition May 22-23, 2015. It was an awesome hotel, very clean and relaxing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Their hot breakfast was great as well. If you want more food options there are two restaurants within walking distance, one that shares the same parking lot and another that is just across the access road, but besides those two restaurants, you will need to drive a decent ways to get to another. I would stay there again if I was in the area. read more

I stayed here for about 3 days for a business trip and it was very clean and comfortable. The first day I had trouble with my key card not reading and a staff member noticed me and immediately stepped in to help get me new cards. There was also coffee, tea, and fruit available at all times and it was nice quality. The lobby and lounge area were quite comfortable as well, especially to wind down after a long day of meetings. Next night had the police come to the lobby to make sure we went to the pool area at 10:00. Again, not because we were loud or unruly, because it's their policy. When I asked for a different room, the representative at the hotel informed me that it would be a $40 up charge for a different room. Nice place, good location for my needs. However if you plan on staying more then one night expect to bring your key cards to the front desk daily to have them reauthorized. 15 of the guest staying at this hotel that I talked to had to have their keys reauthorized to get into their room. Other than this inconvenience it seems like an up to pat hotel. read more

Family-friendly place to stay....we enjoy the WI outdoor ambiance. We have frequented this lodge and every time have enjoyed our stay. Around Christmas, nicely decorated with a smell of wood burning fireplace. Great gathering area for games in the evening and hot breakfast in the morning. Large heated indoor pool--a favorite of my kids. We are in town visiting friends (traveling from St. Louis). This lodge is always our first pick. Convenient, nice amenities, and easy access to most everything. A slight nuisance for my family during this stay....we were in rooms next to the pool. We had the luxury of sleeping in on a Sunday morning before having to get on the road. Unfortunately, other guests were in the pool at 6:59a.m., screaming, splashing, etc...So, there goes the plan of sleeping in....bummer!!!! I read after the fact....pool opens at 7 a.m. I will not make this mistake again! Still rate the lodge as a 5 star! My mistake for not reading pool hours carefully!
