Double Tree--Brookfield is solidly becoming our "go-to" hotel preference when visiting the area (mostly in February and April for volunteering at some larger events). Rooms are always clean and fresh-smelling, well adorned, and warm-feeling. Beds are always great. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful! The only burp this year was a plugged commode that defied clearing. We were quickly moved next door to a new room. As with most hotels we frequent, the air system vents could be cleaned a bit more often. We are often early launchers for the day so we skip the breakfast options. Good parking. Easy to get back on the main drag. Great location within the Brookfield business area. Tip: If you desire, 1st floor has many rooms with a small outdoor slab patio option, leading into the atrium courtyard. read more

Long-Time Diamond Member - Deeply Disappointed by Bed Bug Incident and Poor Response I am a Hilton Diamond member who spends approximately 75 nights per year on the road. Since January alone, I've stayed over 30 nights at this particular Doubletree, making it my go-to hotel in the area--until now. After my first night during a recent 3-night stay, I woke up covered in itchy bites on my feet and ankles. Upon further inspection, I discovered multiple bed bugs crawling under the sheets. I immediately took photos, packed up my belongings, and went to the front desk. While staff did move me to another room, their response was alarmingly casual for such a serious issue. I was offered points equivalent to one free night and asked to email the photos, with the promise that the General Manager would follow up. In the meantime, I spent over $100 of my own money on laundry, a steamer, and sanitizing supplies to ensure I didn't carry the infestation into the new room--or back home. I also lost a day and a half of work, effectively defeating the purpose of the business trip. When I returned home, I quarantined my luggage in the garage out of fear of bringing the problem into my house. The next day, I received a generic email from the General Manager offering another free night at any Doubletree. Given the impact--lost productivity, out-of-pocket expenses, and emotional stress--this gesture felt wholly inadequate. I respectfully replied with my concerns and never received a response. They simply added points to my account and closed the loop, as if that settled the matter. Since the incident, I've been dealing with the psychological after-effects--waking up throughout the night feeling like something is crawling on me. The bites took over a week to stop itching, and I'm dreading my next hotel stay. Bottom line: Communication was poor, with minimal engagement from hotel leadership. Compensation did not remotely cover the financial and professional costs I incurred--let alone acknowledge the loyalty I've shown to this location. I expected more from a Hilton brand, especially given my status and history with this property. I will not be returning to this hotel. There are plenty of comparable options in the area, and I'll be using them going forward during my 4-5 annual work trips to this region. I'm sharing this not to vent, but to inform fellow travelers and encourage Hilton to do better in responding to serious guest concerns--especially when it comes to health, hygiene, and long-term loyalty. read more

This is an old double tree that they tried to give a face lift too. However it was all cosmetic... the updates stop shy of doing anything to truly bring it into the modern age. We had an ok room (that had very few outlets and really no usb outlets) that the toilet got clogged in and there was no way to fix it. No maintenance man, no plunger, no help. So after trying to get it fixed and getting no where we finally, after some long discussion with the front desk, got a new room we had to move to at 10:30 at night. Mind you we (my two sons my wife and I) had already been in our room for 2 days and we had stuff everywhere. So we had to pack everything up and move rooms at 11pm after a very long and tiring day! Not the ideal solution but they did at least give us a solution. However the solution turned out to be a much smaller room. Same amount of beds but much less space. It was a tight fit with all the luggage and our stuff. They did comp the night for our inconvenience though. Breakfast is not free here it is $15 a person (15 per adult and 7.50 per child) and consists of eggs, bacon, oat meal, bagels, or dry cereal. My son had a bowl of cereal and it was 7.50! Really? It wa the sane breakfast every day and nothing seemed fresh... the bacon was way dry, the eggs were at runny, and things were constantly out. No bagels no regular milk.... $15 for this? The water in our new room came out a yucky brown for the first 5 mins in the shower... nice way to start the day. Room cost was $250 on a Saturday and down to $150 on Tuesday. It was not the best stay at a Hilton property that I have had. read more

The Doubletree at Brookfield is one of those hotels that rises one step above a super eight. The beds are hard as rocks, management does not appropriately update their website, the in-house restaurant only has a dozen or so items on the menu and none of them are prepared especially well. If you like a hot shower in the morning, you will be sorely disappointed as the water never reaches a temperature above tepid. There is not a single thing other than the location if you happen to need a hotel in this area that would recommend this place to any traveler. Even tonight at the restaurant, the bartender was so busy telling the clientele about her family's health issues that she was incapable of monitoring the needs of the rest of the patrons. So instead of having my usual second beer, I decided to just leave. A bartender is supposed to listen to other people's problems, not wax on about their own. When I first arrived at the hotel, the restaurant was closed. Apparently it had been closed for two weeks over the holidays. But unlike other Hilton in the area, this one failed to update their website or their app to indicate the same. Accordingly I chose this Hilton as opposed to a Marriott to stay. Finally, Doubletree bills itself as the hotel, the greet you with a cookie when you arrive. There are signs all over the hotel about the cookie that you get when you check in. I never got my cookie! I think for once and for all this was the straw that finally broke the camels back and I will be done with Hilton after this trip. The quality of the hotels in the brand, the deteriorating service, and that we just don't give a damn attitude has all become just a little bit too much for me. So thank you, Hilton, for many years of excellent stays, followed by a few years of exceedingly mediocre ones. This one falls into the below, mediocre one. read more

This was a great hotel to stay at. The room was nice and modern. The breakfast was pretty good, and the coffee area had hot chocolate, which I haven't seen in a Holiday Inn before. The front desk was nice, especially Amy who was super friendly. My only complaints were I couldn't connect my phone to the tv, when they said iPhones can connect when updated past 17.5 and I wasn't a fan of the bacon. read more

Because of tne condition of this last room assigned to me at this Doubletree, I am finally done staying here after many years of resting my head at this hotel. For years I looked past the aging rooms, the noisy construction, the slipshod renovation, and the poor management. However, the filth and the dirt are just too much. Not only is housekeeping ridiculously poor at cleaning, the hotel will assign rooms to customers that are a literal health hazard, We arrived late on a snowy Friday night, and with the poor lighting, did not notice the disgusting stain dripping down the entire wall behind the toilet until the next day. However, it was alarmingly obvious the next morning. I contacted the front desk who were non chalant about this nauseating YELLOW stain. It covered the entire wall. On return that night, the STAIN WAS STILL THERE! The room was cleaned (sic.) in a manner. At least housekeeping made the bed. After my frantic phone call, a man came up to the room with a plastic bottle of windex to clean the stain. He apologized, but said there was nothing he could do because of the wall paper. Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! IT WAS ROOM 333! I am sure the hotel will try to assign this room to another unsuspecting customer. Room 333 should be enclosed with yellow police tape and renovated by people wearing Hazmat suits. I am getting nauseous just remembering the disgust. I can never stay here again. I stayed here for one night on a Sunday and it was not bad. I checked in around 6pm and my room was ready and cooled. There was no wait to check in. The lobby was a bit dark and could use better/more lighting. The room itself was modernly appointed and the bathroom was clean and the toiletries high quality. The bed was very comfortable as well. My rate came with a breakfast coupon, so I took advantage of that the next morning. After seating myself, I was offered coffee and then made my way to the buffet to get a juice and food. The quality could have been better, but they had the full selection of eggs, sausage, bacon, and toast (even french toast). I've always liked the Brookfield area in Milwaukee, and this was the perfect location for our daughter's dance competition in Milwaukee this weekend. It's about 20 minutes from downtown and a nice suburb that reminds me of where we live, with a lot of shops and restaurants in the area. (Brookfield Square Shopping mall is right around the corner, which my daughter loved!) I didn't see the property before the renovations others mentioned, but as a Hilton Honors member we were greeted warmly and given the customary warm chocolate chip cookie upon check-in. Our room was perfect for our needs. Clean and comfy. The ice machine on our floor didn't work, but I went down one to find their machine in the same location working. One of the perks was free Wi-Fi which worked perfect. We didn't have time to take advantage of the pool or jacuzzi which I was disappointed by. But all in all it was a nice stay for our quick trip and we would do it again. read more

I see why this hotel, in spite of the "Double Tree" and "Hilton" names, has a low average rating.  As other reviewers have pointed out, the recent renovation looks to have been done on a tight budget.  There is paint on door handles, gaps in the tile, etc. that leaves a feeling of "dang, I over-paid." The bed is OK, and the breakfast is good enough.  The breakfast is a buffet or you can get made to order things like omelets.  The coffee is by table service, and this is one place where there is a problem.   You have to find the server and ask for the coffee, and prompt them when you want more.  They're friendly and responsive, but the nice hotels that do this anticipate you and show up with coffee before you realize you need it. Based on other Hilton properties, I would say I am disappointed.  But compared to budget-like hotels, this hotel is nice.  So its really perspective. As a place to stay as a business traveler, I'd say 3.5 stars but as a vacationer I'd say 2.5 stars. read more

We made A reservation for one night online, planning on traveling elsewhere. After the incredible level of customer service, lovely facilities, absolutely nicest and helpful staff, we decided to stay several days and drive to our other sites. I retired after many years in customer service and can honestly say this organization is the best. If I was looking for something, a team member would ask if they could help. When we decided to stay, Richard at the front desk rearranged things so we could avoid moving - very graciously. Nice price, great value. Friendly staff. They have a happy hour for drinks 5-8 every night. Clean rooms. Service on demand only. Odd that Hilton has a paid breakfast. Overall I would very much not recommend this hotel.... The service was fine and their wasn't any noise problems or anything outside of our room, but our hotel room was filthy! There was all of these disgusting stains over the carpet and I have no idea how that could have not been cleaned up the stains were very noticeable. Also there was green gum stuck to the wall of room YUCK! And the ceiling was very filthy it had looked like a car race had took place. And to top all of this you can very much tell that the comforter and sheets are not cleaned or cleaned poorly you can very clearly see little hairs on the sheets and this is really especially with a pandemic going on! read more

Stayed here for four nights. No internet for 24 hours which was frustrating since I had some work to do. The shower when you first start it spits out brown water, obviously means they have rusty pipes. Too scared to drink the water. Walls are paper thin. Literally can hear anyone even having a conversation. Plus the hotel was empty so it was annoying that they kept putting people next to us. The rooms are fine but overall, if you can find somewhere else i would recommend. read more

Nice property with everything I needed. As a Hilton Honors member I was greeted with complimentary water bottles and a warm cookie. Honors members also have a dedicated floor on the second floor. My room had a mini fridge, microwave, blow dryer - the typical amenities from Hilton. Tough I think the coffee maker was odd - single brew but a kind of flimsy Wolfgang Puck model. The restaurant has a restaurant and conference rooms on the first level though I didn't try the restaurant. They also offer room service. The night I spent there was a large group of people in the restaurant having a loud party; the walls are thin because I could hear anytime anyone opened or closed their door, or stood in the hallway talking - such as the members of the aforementioned party. Free WiFi is appreciated as well as the easy parking. I'd stay here again. read more

Decent business hotel which often has very low prices. Have stayed many times and have never noticed a noise problem. The breakfast buffet is decent with good omelets and waffles. bacon, sausage and more. The desk staff is usually helpful and friendly. They have upgraded toiletries to Crabtree and Evelyn. I agree with previous posters about too many feather pillows. However, this is easily rectified by requesting foam. They will provide! Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. read more

I am a Hilton Honors member and have stayed at this location twice. I have been disappointed by my stay both times. They were not helpful in getting my previous stay credited to my account, and didn't even offer a cookie! I thought that was the signature for double tree. The room was clean, but as a silver member I would expect not to be in a more remote area of the hotel! I felt like I was bothering her to check in. I won't stay here again if I can help it. An ongoing issue lusted in other reviews... My water was barely warm enough for a shower but by no means was it hot. I urge Hilton to rectify this immediately as I would love to have a great place to stay in this area! Also, the toiletries are basic at best. For $200/ night I would expect some cotton swabs or even a shower cap. Even the TV barely had 20 channels. Not impressed... at least at a Hampton I get cereal for breakfast! read more

Be the LAST time I stay at this place. Unbelievable. How are they not going to give me a couple waters. Want to charge 2$ a piece for an .89 cent bottle if water... especially when the water in the fountains tastes nasty and isn't quite clear. I asked two different counter people and they both said no. The breakfast is 12.99 per person and really doesn't have anything you don't get for free at a Hampton inn. AND it's Christmas... heck even the airlines were giving away free water in the airports. I have traveled much of the last 30 years of my life, and have stayed in Hilton branded hotels across the country. This past weekend, we stayed at the Doubletree by HIlton in Brookfield, WI. Before booking my room, I read the many reviews herein about noisy hallways but I disregarded them. I am used to sleeping on the road and am known as a very sound sleeper. Do not ignore these reviews. The construction of this property is so poor that our door didn't even keep the hallway light out of our room. Normal hallway conversation sounds as if it is in your room. The walls between the rooms are so thin that hearing normal conversation in neighboring rooms offers constant entertainment and/or frustration. We had good neighbors having normal conversation in their rooms. The hotel structure simply does not mute noise. Believe the reviews written here - this fact cannot be understated. The remodel, which appears to be complete, needs a few remarks. If this property was a Super 8 or Red Roof Inn I would expect the construction quality would have been better than what we found in our room. Among other things, the toilet seat in the remodeled bathroom wobbles so badly it should not be sat upon. The tiled area inside the tub shows no sign of being remodeled and is showing serious signs of mildew build up. Then comes the service. When we checked in (7pm Saturday) a woman near the front desk dressed in plain clothes offered a simple "hello." When she turned we could see from a small badge on her sweater that she was a manager. No "Welcome to the Hilton!", no "How can we help you?," nothing but "hello" and she turned her back on us away. Upon stepping up to the front desk, it appeared that neither of the two agents wanted to check us in. I waited to be greeted and finally one of them said with a growly voice, "How are you tonight?" Dumbfounded, I replied "fine and you?" Finally getting the point, she said grimly "Can we help you?" Well finally we were checked into a Hilton right? Our bags were in the car, right? So, what do you think should have been next at a HIlton? How about directions to our room and "Do you need any help with your bags?" Instead, the agent gave us directions to our room and told us to have a good night. Discount hotels like Red Roof Inn routinely do far better (and they give away free cookies too). Later that night, being tired from a long day we ordered room service. Two appetizers were promised in 20 minutes. They were received over 45 minutes later. The food was good, but this shouldn't be a surprise because it is, after all, a Hilton and we paid $38 for two appetizers. Money was not an object to us booking this stay. We knew we would be tired and needed a property with high standards of service. Sadly, this stay was the worst Hilton stay I have had in over 30 years. I have stayed at Hilton-branded properties across the country and internationally, and this is without a doubt the worst I have stayed in. We checked in last night, which was a process because the hotel was severely understaffed and the sole employee was getting calls nonstop while trying to check us in (he did a great job despite the hotel's apparent inability to hire enough employees). Got to our room, went to hang up our clothes, and the bar in the closet was falling off the wall because it was missing a screw so that was a no go. The shower door kept sliding open and had to be held shut by us while we showered so the bathroom didn't get soaked. The room didn't look like it had been cleaned in weeks and the shower head was downright scary. Getting a pop was also an endeavor as none of the vending machines throughout the property were working properly. This would be bad for a hotel that charges $20 a night, let alone one that charges $200. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Upon arrival, my 2 year old found vomit on the floor, wall and bedspread! There were also red stains on other areas of the carpeting and the toilet was dirty. We were appalled at the cleanliness of the room during COVID and having a Hilton "clean stay" seal on our room. They moved us to another room which was an inconvenience with 3 kids and wasted about an hour of our time. Then upon entry to the pool we found drops of blood on the floor! After speaking with a manager about our awful stay all that was offered was for me to request a refund through Priceline since we did not book through the hotel. I contacted Priceline 3 times and am still waiting for a refund almost 2 weeks later. I contacted Hiltons corporate office who told me again I need to work with Priceline. I provided photos of the room and blood by the pool so it was clear my complaints were very valid. Considering the severity of our issues, there should have been another resolution offered. How easy would it to be to offer a free room rather than making a customer who had valid issues with their stay waste even more of their time to get a refund?? But at this point I wouldn't want a free room because we would never stay here again! Horrible stay and horrible customer service! read more

I have stayed here at least a dozen times. The rooms and location are fine, but the service is great! The front desk always remembers me, and they have the best bartender ever...Rahamah. I have a tall friend that stays here and he says the shower heads are too low. I don't have that problem. Maybe he is just cray cray. The automatic doors at the front open way too slow. I read the reviews about the staff and the renovation and the room quality. We stayed here three years ago and found the staff kind and helpful. The rooms clean and in good condition. It was a little noisy but we were by the elevator, not a big deal. So, we booked again and stayed last night. Staff was friendly. Waitress for breakfast was quick, kind and courteous. Front desk greeted us when we came in, when we left for dinner and came back and when we checked out. The room was clean and in excellent condition. The hallway near our room (but not the hall in front of our room) smelled as if some room in the area may have been painted or something. It was quiet. Not sure what the complaints are about. We always stay at a Hilton owned hotel. This one was no different than any other experience we have had. Friendly, clean, modern. read more

I don't normally write reviews on hotels, unless there was something memorable about my experience. The reason I'm writing this review is because of the inconsistent service I received while there. I checked in for one night only and the night I checked in, the desk receptionist was so helpful. She was quick and to the point and gave me the most delicious warm chocolate chip cookies that a girl could ever ask for. They were so good that I had my fiancé go back down to the desk to buy more and she gave us another bag of cookies on the house. That's what I call good customer service! Unfortunately, there were a few mishaps during our stay, and one involved not having a remote control in the room. That was a real inconvenience and we didn't want to have a technician come into our room to program another remote control for us, so we dealt with it. The next morning when it was time to check out, I wanted to get a workout in first. It was extremely confusing on how to find the gym. I had to go to the front desk three times for help on how to get to the gym and she was not helpful whatsoever. Luckily, I saw a maintenance man in the hall that directed me out to where the gym was. I really value good customer service when I'm away from home and staying in a hotel. If I ever stay here again, I hope for a better experience. But, as long as they keep providing those cookies, I can't imagine not being happy there! read more

This is a decent DT hotel. The breakfast is slightly better quality than usual which is nice. That said there isn't much variety so be prepared to eat the same thing a couple times if you're there for a week. The rooms themselves are pretty good sized although I find the bathrooms seems to have been skipped when they renovated the rest of the room. Both rooms I've had here had shower heads that were way too low like around my should and I'm only average height. read more

Great stay at the Doubletree Brookfield. The rooms are comfy, but bring earplugs. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing through the conjoining room doors. Loved the toiletries by Crabtree & Evelyn. My room's deadbolt didn't work. Of course, when maintenance came to take a look, it was fine, but it stopped working after he left. User error, perhaps. Don't be fooled by the 3-star rating this hotel claims. My husband and I stayed at the hotel on 1/6/18 - 1/7/18, and we are reaching giving this hotel a 2 star rating. I'd prefer a 1.5-star review. The woman at the front desk was lovely upon our check-in, minus the lake of free cookie. She was pretty much the highlight of the stay. Now getting into the nitty gritty... Our hotel room did not have any hot water until the morning of 1/7/18. We checked the hot water repeatedly to see if the temp would change, but it didn't. Not so much fun showering in luke warm water after coming back from the pool! The pool was decent minus all of the soaking wet towels scattered on the pool floor. After we got back to our hotel room and took our cold showers we headed down to the hotel bar. When we arrived we sat down next to the only other bar patron, were greeted right away, and offered a beverage. I requested a brandy Old Fashioned sour. Turns out the bartender didn't have the correct supplies to make the cocktail so he was running around looking for the fixins. Once my drink was made I was horrified to learn that it was primarily sour mix. I couldn't taste the brandy or bitter period, and claimed to my husband that it was probably the worst Old Fashioned I ever had. While "enjoying" our drinks another patron came down to the bar, and waited at the bar for our bartender to return. Several minutes went by, and the bartender was still absent. At this point the other patron walked behind us to the kitchen where the other staff members were standing, and requested service at the bar. The patron then went back to the bar and waited again for several more minutes. Once again the patron walked over to the other staff members and requested service. Moments later the patron was helped with a bit of snarky attitude coming from the bartender. My husband and I were interested in getting an appetizer to share, but after seeing how slow and difficult it was to get any service we decided to head outside of the hotel for food. Some other things to note are that some light bulbs were burned out in our room, including one for the shower mirror. We also were inconvenienced by a wedding reception taking place, which meant we had to walk all the way around the building in order to get to our room, as opposed to walking down the hall through the reception to get to our room. Decent hotel. Two problems though: a. Everything on the bed is goose down. Goose down pillows and comforter. This put pieces of feather everywhere, I did a lot of sneezing even though I am not the allergic type. Also the feathers landed on your body at night giving the sensation that something was crawling on your skin. b. The breakfast girl did not come by the table on two occassions I ate there. I had to wave her down each time. Other than that, I had no problems..weeellll, almost none. I wish they served anchovies instead of cookies when you checked in and i wish that Milwaukee was next to a salty body of water. But those problems are not really the hotels problems as I am a dolphin. read more

I think this may be my new favorite hotel in the area. The Holiday Inn is very nice, the Marriott is also nice but expensive. This hotel is located within walking distance of the Bonefish Grill and Carrabbas. They have a nice updated Precor fitness center with 3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 1 bicycle and free weights. They also have a nice indoor pool. I'm guessing that since I was there during Thanksgiving week is why their breakfast buffet was limited. They did have cooked-to-order eggs, but the hot plates were mostly empty with the exception of bacon/sausage. So, not so good on the breakfast. Charlene was generous. The rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are even smaller. This is an older hotel that needs some more current updating. We booked this to get the Hilton points, but will stay somewhere else the next time. Not being familiar with the area we should have consulted our relatives on where to stay. There were many newer places in the immediate area. While the rooms were updated at some point, they could stand to better renovations. They have old tube TV's in bulky armoires and our closet door to our extremely small closet didn't close. At $99 a night it was barely passable, but of course there's an additional charge for internet. I understand, but it doesn't make me like it. read more

Decent rate for the room, but ur not getting anything else. No breakfast, no free internet, no fridge and by my room even the ice machine didn't work. Also the room was pretty small. Now our room had two beds, but my wife and I could barely even fit in the bed. And it's not like we're that big with me being 180lbs and her being 110 lbs. also, I recently stayed at the hilton in Arlington virginia and even they had free internet and working ice machines and a fridge in the room. At least the rooms were clean and fairly modern. Also there are plenty of stores and shopping close to the hotel which is a bonus. In the future, I'd rather pay a little more to get more amenities. read more

Rooms just freshly remodeled. Staff nice and attentive. Clean pool and common areas. Breakfast buffet also good and fresh made omelets. I stay at a lot of hotels and this one is clean and nice. Good price too. read more

I stayed here for the second time a few weeks ago. The first time I stayed here was in June 2012 as I was moving out of Brookfield and back to Los Angeles. This recent trip was purely to socialize with old friends. The hotel is just fine. The rooms are adequate and clean. There is ample parking. There is nothing remarkable about this Doubletree, which is why I only gave 3 stars. I have never eaten a meal at this hotel so I cannot comment on that part of the service. I used to stay at a Doubletree in MEM all the time for business and it was amazing...from front desk to overall service. I never got any of that amazing vibe at this Doubletree in Brookfield. My experience here was fine but completely unremarkable. read more
