Attn: Families or Multiple family renters...
We rented one of the two units, its around 270 a night + 25 a day trailer fee. We arrived to the cleaning lady finishing up but upon settling in there were quite a few things that came up. Things left over in medicine cabinet, the microwave/conv oven with no instructions or power, one of the burners were out, no dishwashing detergent. We assumed these things were happening because we arrived a little early so we didn't complain. Later that evening around 9 p.m. the older kids (Children's ages; 3 months, 2.5, 4, 5 &5) asked if we could light fireworks at dusk. It was one of the kids birthday and we had heard fireworks earlier, as well as on an early trip (Fathers day). After the 5 fireworks the moms went into put the kids down for bed and the manager came down. This is when the issues started he came down in a very aggressive manner, saying he was going to fine us $500, and call the sheriff, he accused the three of us of being drunk or intoxicated saying we have no "common sense" he was demeaning and very condescending. We simply apologized and said it wouldn't happen again but he continued to scold and threaten us with fines and fees. After he left he sent another email saying he would fine us and double the fines per firework, we really had no idea that it was so big of an issues and again we apologized about not knowing it was illegal. We said nothing, the next morning my wife went up and apologized again for the miscommunication and he said again we had no common sense and that he would do us a favor by dropping the fine to $75. The following day we were checking out, we didn't complain about the issues we had in the cabin, we followed all the check out protocols and moved our cars to the visitors parking after we spent the morning cleaning up, (hand washing) all the dishes, and getting our things loaded. We promised the little ones one last tube ride so the 3 mothers and the babies (3 months, 2.5, and 4) found a quiet area on the grass under some shade with one blanket, a cooler, some towels and beach toys, completely out of the way of anyone around. Around 1:30 (check out is at 12pm) the manager came down mad again and said "this isn't a campground you can't just stay here" we explained we were doing a couple more jetski rides before loading and getting on the road he rudely told us no you need to leave. He had the courtesy of allowing us "one more quick tube ride" then biked off. So my pregnant wife, our friend with her new baby, and our other friend trying to watch her toddler had to quickly gather all the things and rush to get it all to the roadside while we did a circle and hectically ran up for the trailer and loaded up the jet skis. There was no apology for the treatment that was received and we felt very disrespected and after continually being told we had no "common sense" we felt that this behavior from management was unnecessary and demeaning. We rent at a lot of resorts, some more expensive and luxurious than this and never have we left feeling so outcasted and poorly treated. As we drove out of the property the manager kindly ignored us as he stood by the roadside talking to someone.
I do not recommend this property to anyone who wants to have a fun relaxing weekend, its more of a sit on the porch and read a book type of place. It is micromanaged and if you mess up you will be fined, and scolded like a child. There was no walk through upon arrival, bad communication and the expect you to know everything you can and can't do, even though they give you one pdf doc with no rules or regulations I supposed its all just "common sense" to management. read more
