Wiley Gunter's is the perfect dive bar for those who love dive bars and those who don't. This is because you can order dive bar food and drinks at dive bar prices, but you can also order beach-style drinks and or a higher end cocktail and not be out of place since many of their advertised daily specials focus on fun and interesting concoctions. Our group tried each of the drink special offerings from the grapefruit crush, to the strawberry basil, to a twist on the classic mule. The grapefruit crush reminded me of drinking at Dewey Beach. The grapefruit juice did not overkill the drink. The strawberry basil was not my favorite because it had a kick of jalapeno but I appreciated the creativity. It can get pretty dark inside during the daytime so it's good for a rainy day but this wouldn't be my first choice on a sunny day. Service was reliable. The seating was a bit uncomfortable. The music was good. The happy hour specials are great; drink specials range from $3 - $5 and many appetizers are priced at $5 Monday - Thursday from 5 pm - 7 pm and Friday from 4 pm - 7 PM. Great local spot, especially if you are a VT or Redskins fan. They have a great rotating craft/local beer selection, and possibly the best burgers in Baltimore. Daily specials are great, too. Only downside is that they are only open in the afternoon Thurs-Sun. read more

I can't imagine why anyone would not give this place 5 stars. It was amazing. My friend and I both ordered the pesto tuna salad. I can honestly say I think it's the best salad I have ever had. I ordered the cubano to go for my husband. He said it was delicious! We were waited on by 2 bar tenders - one was called Bobby but I don't know the name of the other one. Would definitely come here to watch another Redskins game or for a few beers! It was super cool to see all the Redskins fans in the middle of Baltimore hanging out. Service was better than I expected for a bar! Our waiter kept checking if we needed more beers throughout the game even though it kept getting increasingly crowded. Also- we didn't wait a long time for our food order to be taken, or for our food to come out. I loved their selection of local brews and food options. Obviously this isn't a fine dining restaurant but the food is actually really good, especially considering how small the kitchen is. The bartenders are super friendly and the beer selection is great (always have a nitrous beer on tap). This was my first experience at WG. I called a day ahead of time and spoke to the owner about bringing in a group of about 10 people for dinner and drinks to celebrate my fiance's birthday. The owner told me they don't take reservations, but he said we could move some tables together downstairs since kickball teams would be upstairs and it would be fine. He was very nice and took my name. When we arrived to the bar the next day the owner was not there and I dealt with a very unfriendly, rude bartender named Chris. Chris said the owner was not there at the moment and he knew nothing of my arrangement. He said we could not move tables and made no effort in accommodating us. Rather than try to tell 10-12 people to meet a different location, we ended up staying and sitting at two different tables, which worked out fine. Chris was our waiter for the night. He was unfriendly and unattentive. He brought a beer over to my friend, slammed it on the table and spilled some of it on her and didn't apologize. I don't think he smiled once. Made no effort to tell us what beers they had on tap. I am in no rush to return here. Food was decent, but the service was horrible. I'd expect more from a small, neighborhood bar. read more

The customer service at Wiley Gunters is absolutely terrible. We had to wait a long time at the bar to get the bartenders attention(venessa) and when we finally did, she was extremely rude. Awesome cheap eats. 4 of us went and 1 cup of superior crab/corn chowder, 1 cup of thick and spicy chili w/chips, 4 fantastic sandwiches, which noone could finish + sweet potato or old bay seasoned fries and soft drinks, for $58.00. We come from Chicago and wanted a Sunday late night and were absolutely thrilled with this find. Very friendly waitress and the best dipping sauce (dulce de leche). i've ever had. The food is always fresh, and the servers are so helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here! They have an open kitchen so you can see all of your food being cooked. They have sports on many TV's, and lots of space. The upstairs usually isn't open, unless the downstairs is full. In the upstairs the have darts and a table shuffle board. This is a great, slightly more upscale hole-in-the-wall. They always have an awesome beer selection, the staff are always friendly & helpful and the Buffalo Chicken Dip is out-of-this-world. The only downside is that they tend to favor the Nationals over the Orioles, even though they're located in Baltimore. I come here at least monthly. read more

Short Version: Terrible Brunch mistake! Went for Brunch with my wife, their brunch menu was very small so you would think they are good at the very few plates... Not only did it take forever, but it was terrible! My wife ordered French toasts which tasted like bread with raw egg. My chocolate ship waffles could be eaten but not enjoyed. I have not been for the regular bar menu, but for brunch forget it! The whole story: We got there at 11:00AM. The smell of clorox was overwhelming. and disgusting. Brunch menu was very small so you would think they are good at these... Customer Service: Poor at best When we complained about how long the food was taking, the person gave me a bunch of excuses and said that the other people were there ahead of us. This could only be true if they called ahead of time which was not the case. The place was empty when we got there, and all the other people that got there after us, had their order taken. The waiter started arguing with me about this, so whatever, the mimosas were not so bad, so i was in a good mood by then. When the other waitress came over with our food, she was in the same attitude as the waiter, saying that people were ahead of us, and that the food take time to cook. I was tired by then and didnt want to argue any longer. Not only did it take forever (Chocolatechip Waffles, and French Toasts = 45mins and 4 orders came out before ours.), but it was terrible! I ordered French toast which tasted like bread with raw egg. The chocolate chip waffles could be eaten but not enjoyed (nothing special). I have not been for the regular bar menu, but for brunch forget it! By the way. when they asked why we didnt touch our food, we expressed that the food was almost cold, and the taste was terrible. The manager came to ask what was the problem, when we told him that the french toast tasted only to eggs, his answer was that : "Well, its a french toast, it has eggs". Its not the first time we have french toasts, and trust me, i know what a french toas taste like and its not like raw eggs. He then gave us a bunch of excuses about lack of employees and such and such and invited us to try it again. We wont be going back. read more

Stopped in here after drinking lots of beer at The Gathering event. Downstairs was pretty packed and nice looking, but upstairs was open and people from the Baltimore Social league were chilling there. We played a couple of beerpong games and stayed there for the night. It was chill, your typical bar and late-night spot,with a kind of college feel to it...meaning it smelled like old beer and was a little divey, but that's what makes it relaxed and fun.
