I went with some friends for trivia night (their team goes every week) and to grab some apps. I expected bar food but with Baltimore having so many great bar spots, the food here fell a bit short. The loaded tots I asked for with beer cheese, but it just had just far too much to the point some where inedible and got soggy quickly. The onion rings also fell a little short. Came out extremely hot and were falling apart a bit. Also tasted like the oil wasn't changed out recently. The drinks were standard! I had the sour beer on tap, it was good. read more

Really excellent burgers! Keep wanting to try something else, but the burgers are amazing. Saturdays are old guy DJ night. The music is excellent but 100% too loud. It could be a nice atmosphere, but I'm trying to have a casual bite at a place geared to a mature crowd and have to pretend that I'm standing next to the speakers at a concert in 1999. Bring an appetite, ear plugs, and don't bring friends that you want to talk to. read more

This used to be one of my favorite bars but the food was really disgusting and some of it, they forgot. My boyfriend and I ordered "loaded" tots, brisket tacos, and BBQ Baconator. We were told about 15-20 minutes. Upon arrival, about 15 minutes later, it took another 20 minutes, over 30 minutes for the whole order, since I had driven I just had to stand there for 20 minutes. The bartender noted they were out of beer cheese for the loaded tots, which is fine, so I asked if we could have Mac and cheese instead. He agreed, but once I got home, it was nowhere to be found. The brisket for the tacos was absolutely disgusting and completely inedible, I threw them away. It was so fatty, huge pure white pieces, I was sort of shocked I was served that as food. The bbq baconator burger was actually pretty good. To be clear, the bartender was very nice and I would be willing to give Brewers Cask another shot, but this was a disappointing experience. read more

I had a wonderful experience dining here with Tony. Our crab dip and drinks were amazing. The atmosphere is not only similar to what it used to be, but even better! I have always loved this spot. Right before we stopped by foot at another bar nearby two drunk folks started screaming about 'building the wall' outside the establishment, we weren't quite at that level of intoxicated so we kept walking another block and we came up on Brewer's Cask. For whatever reason on a Friday night the bartender was the only server for around 25 people, but hats off to her she was friendly, attentive, and did a great job given how swamped she was with customers. They've got a great selection of local drafts at very reasonable prices! Several 16oz pours for around 6 bucks and many had the option of getting a 5oz taster pour for 2-3 bucks - I love that, it's always awesome being able to try lots of different drafts for a couple bucks. Chill indie/contemporary music playing, fire going in the back, good lighting, good acoustics as it was packed but our conversations weren't impeded. Definitely a great spot to grab a beer. Fill your growler here too if you're into that! read more

So I wish there was a 3 1/2 star option. But there's not, so I have to lean towards 3. The atmosphere of this place was neighborhood bar, so that was cool. The service was great...bartenders were very attentive. The 3 stars was mainly for the food. I wish I had tried something else...as it may have been better. I got the chipotle chicken tacos and the tater tots. The tater tots were good...but pretty basic as far as tater tots are concerned. No extra seasonings, spices, flavoring. The aioli that came with them had a kick and was very good. The chicken tacos weren't that great. The chicken seemed dry and over cooked, and the rest of the taco was pretty underwhelming. Large taco shells, less than half filled with a little bit of chicken pieces, some pico, cheese, and a dollop of some avocado sauce of some sort. Not horrible, just not great. Friends got the pulled pork sandwich (she said it was good, but a little sweet for her), white flatbread, and crab dip. I tried the crab dip, and while good flavor, couldn't really detect much crab. Not a drinker, so can't comment on the drinks. All in all, it was ok, just nothing to write home about. read more

I was browsing Grubhub and Doordash and accidentally ordered a brisket sandwich that I had put in my DD cart last week but didn't end up ordering. When I realized my mistake it was too late to cancel and unfortunately it was the worst brisket sandwich I've ever had. The meat was well done, super dry and so tough I couldn't even eat it as a sandwich, I had to use a knife to cut around the fat because it was too tough to bite thru. I feel like it was cut wrong (not against the grain) because it was hard to even rip the meat from the fat with my hands, I finally gave up and threw it away. Luckily the Sobo fries were awesome but now I'm starving because I have nothing in the house to eat for dinner. I'll stick to their burgers from now on. read more

This place is fantastic. I was visiting a close friend in the neighborhood recently, and she recommended Brewer's Cask for dinner on a Monday as they had a burger special. Turns out that the burger special was Tuesday, and Monday was $2 tacos. That was alright, we decided to check out the tacos, and also stumbled right into the start of trivia night. The staff, particularly Ryan, made us feel extremely welcome. We opted into trivia, and ordered a selection of tacos while we played. Nice beer selection, some good ciders, etc. The tacos were actually surprisingly delicious, particularly the chicken. Seriously surprising for pub food. We stopped back the next night again, and again got served by Ryan. Super friendly, great service, great recommendations. This guy was fantastic. Tuesdays were half price drafts and half price burgers, which were delicious. The tots were amazing as well, and rounded out the whole experience. I love trying a variety of restaurants and normally would never repeat on a short trip, but I loved both of my trips in to this place. A gem, not to be missed! read more

Came for Happy Hour and we were able to get 2 beers and 3 apps for under $20. Love me some HH. I totally opted for the girly, fruity beer, cherry and raspberry. It was light and easy to drink but I wouldn't order it again. They had some really interesting beers but they weren't on HH so next time I'll have to try some of those. I was pretty excited about the fried pickles but they came out like fries with mostly breading and a tiny sliver of pickle inside. I would rather have a few big pieces of fried pickles rather than a lot of smaller ones. But it was fried so it still tasted good. The Old Bay chicken wings were delicious! Smother Old Bay on almost anything and I'm sure to love it. The tater tots came out hot and crispy! Came with some mayonnaise sauce but I prefer ketchup. I am pretty much a regular here. This bar/restaurant is owned by a husband and wife team. Bill and Elle are the nicest people. Ryan and Sarah are the best bartenders. They always know which beer to recommend for me. Mondays' are taco night, Tuesdays' are half price burger night. Wednesdays' are 60 cent wings night. Thursdays' are flatbread night. This place has the best selection of original craft beer that changes on a weekly basis. I've had beers at Brewers Cask that you cannot get anywhere else. This place gets packed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the school year for trivia night. Live music are played on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

I love this place. First time here and I was impressed with the food and beer options. The bar is large, cool and comfortable. The service was polite, fast, and fun! A good bartender can gab! And gab we did! I ordered the "Tier de Garde" and it was an excellent Pilsner. I then ordered dinner, choosing the BBQ brisket sandwich with a sautéed spinach side. The sandwich was awesome. It was large! So value is definitely had at this joint! The location is in the heart of Federal Hill. If you can find parking, you're in for a good time. There's a parking a garage a block or two away, so if you lack the appropriate permit you'll be ok for $5-$10 of parking. There's a lot of competition in the area. There must be roughly 250 bars within 3 square miles. But this one is worth visiting because the variety of beer promises there is something for everyone. And the menu offers a variety of appropriate and tasty pairing options. Make this a stop next Ravens or Orioles game day! read more

Ok so the awesome thing about this place, happy hour until 9 on Fridays. Like whaaaaaa? Well I should say as of the writing. We had Ryan for a bartender and he was amazing. I watched him make drinks and let me tell u, the man is food at what he does. We ordered two old fashioned and they were pretty good. A little different from traditional bit still good. The burgers....mannnnnnn, we got the bbq burger and the bawlmore....if uve ever been to Abby Burger, this place is just as good, maybe even better. The bread for the burger is definitely better here. It was soft and fresh. Lol. IJS. The chef shorted us on fries, so he proactively brought out more. He just really seemed to care about his work. Ryan and the other bartender checked on us and I was happy. It was just what the doctor ordered after a long friday. I will be back. read more

I want to so badly give this place a 5 star review, but after our last experience I'm not sure when I will be back. I came here on a Friday night with my husband and two friends and service was terrible. Now I know during happy hour it can get crazy, but we waited over 20 minutes and we were never even given a menu. My friends arrived about 10 minutes before us and the waitress said "I'll be right over". When we arrived and waited another 5 minutes the same waitress came back and asked "Has anyone helped you?". Perfect timing for an apology and just get our order right? Wrong. Instead we got a "It's happy hour and really busy right now. I'll be back". We waited another 5 minutes and then peaced out. When we were getting our jackets, the table next to us even said "Good move guys". I'm giving this place a 3 because they have trivia nights and a cool craft beer selection. Brewer's Cask has been on our radar for awhile, but while the lettering on their sign is pretty garish, the place really seems to be a nondescript hole in the wall. Not so much inviting as... secret. It is a pretty small shotgun style, bar up front, more seats towards the back, but a pretty comfy if no frills spot to get your drink on. The food is standard pub grub, wings and burgers and whatnot. This isn't just a bar, though, their focus is on craft beers and they definitely attract the aficionados. They have 20 brews on draft, most with a pretty high APV percentage because craft beer so be aware if you're the DD. We came in because they were advertising a special whiskey barrel porter of some sort get it while it lasts, and it clocked in at 13.5%! They have trivia nights, and half price Tuesdays, so anyone who enjoys beer at all can find a decent excuse to stop by at least once. read more

First time here! Wanted to try something new that was still local. Located on Light St, maybe one or two blocks from the ACE hardware. No parking other than street parking. Husband and I arrive and unsure what to do so we just found a table in the back and sat down. We were greeted with food and drink menus. Lots of beers on tap! Choices of 5oz, 16oz, or sometimes higher. Depending on the beer you can get a 5oz pour for $2-$3. Good place to try a bunch of different things on the cheap that aren't all the same brand. If you do not ask for a specific size pour you will get a regular 16oz so we aware! We ordered our food. I got a Chicken Caesar wrap. It was fine, but that's all it was, fine. I will say you go to this place for a beer not really the food. I gave four stars because the food is expensive for what it is. My wrap was about $12, if this was the best wrap I ever had...maybe but basic bar food! I will say their potato chips were top notch! I guess they make them in house YUM! Also liked that the music was perfect volume. Enough to hear it but low I didn't need to scream to speak. Definitely check this place out, service was good drinks are good. I come here for the Trivia on Wednesdays, and it's one of the best trivia nights in Baltimore. No, greg, the trivia host, is not paying me for this review. He, himself, is just an okay guy. His trivia is funfilled, and culturally relevant. While I've come here for the trivia, I've also realized I should start coming for there beer and food. Beer selection has a wide variety that's constantly changing. Their tots are banging - super crunchy outside. And their chili has the right blend of spicy beans and meat. Yummmm. When I'm looking to grab a beer in Federal Hill (and I want something more creative than a blue moon) I always head to Brewers Cask. Every time I'm there I look over the menu (and around me at what everyone is ordering) and the food looks delicious. I also know that the chef there is from Hot Corner Lee's which was my favorite place in Cross Street Market when it was open. For dinner a friend and I were in the mood to go someplace new and I had been wanting to try Brewers Cask so I suggested it and we headed over. When we were seated, the bartender/waiter was very attentive. We decided to start our meal with Hot Corner Lee's Famous Curly Fries. They are hand cut Idaho potatoes, sea salt and sriracha aioli. The sriracha aioli is delicious and so were these fries. They tasted incredibly fresh, as if the potatoes were peeled after we ordered them. For our meal,my friend ordered the Chipotle Chicken Tacos. They were three tacos in flour tortillas, onions, peppers, pico de gallo, cotija cheese and cilantro. The chicken was very tender and packed with chipotle flavor and on Mondays, Brewers Cask has a $2 taco special. Because the main reason I wanted to try Brewers Cask was for the Cheesesteaks, I obviously had to order one. I went for the Texas Cheesesteak which was delicious. It's thinly sliced brisket, grilled onions, green peppers and provolone cheese on a freshly baked roll. This was delicious. Sometimes with sandwiches, the bread to filling ratio is not proportionate but this was delicious and huge so I had leftovers for another day. My cheesesteak came with a side and because we already had an order of fries, I decided to go with something completely different. I ordered the Sauteed Garlic Spinach. Now I don't normally order veggies at a bar but these were super creamy, wonderful and packed with garlicky flavor. They were great. Everything at Brewers Cask really was delicious and if you're in the mood for a quick bite and some awesome food I'd highly recommend heading over to Federal Hill to check it out. read more

Any place that offers a free shot upon check in on your Yelp app is worth trying out... And it turns out BC had pretty darn good food and beer too! We happened to visit BC when the Dead Rise Old Bay beer from Flying Dog was available, so major thumbs up there. Two amazing burgers later, we were stuffed and happy. The burgers are definitely noteworthy; asking for mid rare actually gets you a juicy, mid rare burger (unlike other locales whose idea of mid rare is dry and well done). So glad we stumbled upon this place. I'll be trekking out to Baltimore soon enough to get me some more BC :) read more

This review is solely about the wings. Yes the beer list is awesome and constantly refreshed. But the wings...THE WINGS! I've had old bay wings at basically every Baltimore bar I've been to and these are the best. They are smoked and normally fried or grilled. Get them grilled only--you will not be disappointed. That is unless you're weird and don't dream about tasty tasty old bay wings that fall off the bone. read more
