Visited Wiley's Gunters last night from a social aspect it definitely could've been better but for that I can't blame the establishment more so the people I was with...so much for "friends." Service was great definitely lightened the tension at the table when the server would kindly stop by. Got a crush to warm up followed by two more mules and personally all three drink tasted amazing, hats off to the mixologist. Hole in the wall. Walked in and it smells like a smoky bar and stank beer. The bathroom was gross. The food was 50/50. Thai chili wings were great. Asian zing weren't cooked long enough. Sat down at the bar next to a few locals and they assisted with the beer choice as well as my entree... I just couldn't go wrong with the chicken tenders, and a few local brews, of which they have many in draft! I started out with the side salad, which almost wrecked my night...this was a huge bed of veggies that I felt compelled to get to the bottom of. Then my Chicken Tenders seemed the right size when paired with the sweet potato fries..crispy excellentness would be a good description, real word or not! I'm not a huge sports bar guy, what with sixty tv screens blaring sixty different games or commentaries. But this place wasn't like that at all. Didn't matter because I came here for the food. The trusty Yelp reviews didn't fail me, as this spot has some bangin' food AND beer. A couple of buddies and I met up for notched up bar grub and here it was: We shared a crab pretzel full of cheesy crabby goodness. The wings were also a hit - with a tangy sweet sauce that clung to every meaty bite. I had the corn crab chowder - which I did not share. This soup was thick and flavorful enough, but I seemed to have gotten shorted on the crab. Two of us ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Pretty darn good - the meatloaf was breaded, so the end result was a moist loaf, smothered in a flavorful gravy. The mashed potatoes were lightly whipped, no lumps, and the broccoli was perfectly steamed and seasoned. If you are a beer drinker, you would be at the right place. Big selection from ciders to ales to porters to stouts. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about every drink that we ordered, and man... we had quite a few. I really enjoyed my time at Wiley's Gunters. I really did! The bartenders were super attentive. Silly me, my first who is a Redskins fan invited me to the bar to watch a game with him. I did not know it was a REDSKINS bar lol ... We (Ravens) were playing the same day. I was hoping to catch my game as well ... NOT! lol My friend started with Long Islands and loved them. I started with an OId Fashioned (handcrafted). I watched the bartender make the magic. It was delicious. We finished with Vasen Beers ... 10 out of 10 for that one. Man that is good beer! For food we tried: Chicken Quesadillas wiht sour cream, quac and pico - Loved them. We almost ordered a second batch Tenderloin Sliders - 3 filets of beef tenderloin with balsamic onions, crispy bacon, avocado and fresh cut fries. I could get past one bite. It was sooooo tough . I tried cutting it in half and couldn't. I had to send them back but gladly ordered the Original Sliders (made the way of the tenderloins). The fries that were served with the Tenderloin sliders were lukewarm, when they sent the new sliders out the fries with piping hot. The Original Sliders are normally made with cheese and fried onions I believe. Do order them like the tenderloin sliders. Trust me :) I believe all sandwiches and sliders are served with house cut fries. They are AMAZING! Be sure to ask for them hot and fresh out of the grease. Wings - Mango Habanero. Stopped in to watch the Ravens on a Sunday night. Plenty of TVs for viewing and, more importantly, plenty of beers and drink to choose from. Don't come here expecting standard pub fare. The food is outstanding. Our Chesapeake pub nachos had plenty of crab meat and cheesy goodness. Next time, I would definitely try the ahi tuna nachos. They look amazing and are award winning. Well! My first time here. My friend of over 30 years had a cousin recommend this place to us. First of, the place is very quaint and friendly. It can get a little loud towards the evening on a Saturday when the younger crowd arrives. This can be overlooked because of the fantastic service a bar and the excellent food. This is not your common bar food, it's really fabulous. The cocktails are excellent too. This establishment has been book marked for my many returns. A special note about parking, if you go just past the entrance and turn right into a strip mall. You can park behind the pub and it's a short walk to a nice evening with good food & drink. read more

It is hard to beat WG for beer selection in South Baltimore. Their ever changing taps and feature local and regional craft brews from Aslin to Other Half and all the tastiness in between. The food is also fantastic. They have some of the best wings around and their burgers are excellent. The menu changes as well but be sure to check out their rotating desserts. You cannot go wrong with any of the food. The staff is so warm and welcoming and funny. Love to come here after a days work or just to wind down with friends. Tuna nachos sooooo goood and their sliders are to die for. While it will be busy for sure during peak hours, you'll be coming back for more. Best bar in South Baltimore and definitely in the top 5 in Baltimore city. Rotating tap selection = always incredible beer. The absolute best bar food I've ever had, you will not be disappointed with anything. Not typical burgers or chicken tenders- they're just amazing, I don't know how they do it. Pro-tip their ahi tuna is randomly amazing, you wouldn't think to get it at a bar, but it's phenomenal. Tuna nachos or tuna wrap, both are great. Keep in mind - it is street parking only and you may have to wait for a table. The bar tenders are also the waiters, so be patient! I came back here and had additional appetizers. They are below with thoughts on each. Chicken Tenders - There were about 4 relatively large breaded chicken tenders with fries. We went with their house made sauce again (WG Sauce). The sauce was great again (see previous review for same thoughts). The chicken itself was a little fatty. The old bay seasoned fries was the hit of this appetizer. Buffalo Chicken Dip - This was a traditional dip with grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, melted cream cheese, and melted cheddar jack cheese served with toasted pita and tortilla chips. The dip had a slight kick to it. Some of the tortilla chips were stale, but not a big deal. The dip was better on the toasted pita regardless. Wings - The wings were once again ordered, but with buffalo sauce. They were alright. The wings were a little smaller this time. The WG sauce was far superior to the buffalo sauce. read more

Just don't have that crispiness you want? Wiley Gunters' keeps their SP fries crispy. Interior is nice and unique. Plenty of TV's to watch a variety of sportsball on - including soccer and football when we were there. We took a table seat and received prompt service by our waiter. We both had the Monday night special which is a burger and fries for $7 bucks. Holy cow was it good too! I got the "Smoke" burger medium well ( smoked Gouda , sautéed mushroom , tomatoes and Lettuce) and it came with old bay fries. You could have got old bay pasta but I was unsure of that flavor palate lol. My boyfriend had the "All American" ( bacon , American cheese , lettuce , tomatoes, pickles ) medium well and fries. We both enjoyed our meals entirely. The only thing i will do differently when I dine in again is get my burger medium just for it to be a bit more juicy!!! Found out a little history on my visit to Wiley Gunters and it was quite interesting. Those pictures on the wall do have some great stories behind them. With that said, I came here one weeknight with some co-workers. While here, I was told they have a top notch beer collection and that they have a lot of Craft beers. 2 in my party were beer drinkers and they loved their choices. As far as cocktails, this is not the place to get a martini, but that is okay as they can always make something else for you. In this spot, there are several bar tables and chairs (with backs) and a long bar to boot. They have 2 levels - this night only the first level was opened. I was told that the second level is usually opened on the weekends or probably when it is full of folks watching their sports games on the TV's provided and it looks like a great spot to watch your games - local or visiting the area. I didn't study the menu, but it seemed like they offered sandwiches and wraps, along with burgers and pub food. They also have some items listed on their blackboard that is not on their menu. On this visit, my co-workers started off with some wings. As the sauces were being listed to them, they settled on the Wiley Gunter Sauce, just because of the name. One co-worker said the sauce was a little spicy and it tasted like a level below buffalo sauce; the other said not spicy at all. Afterwards we were told that the Wiley Gunter (or WG) sauce is part buffalo sauce, part BBQ sauce, both mixed with Old Bay. Cool. I settled on a Homemade Burger called The Chesapeake - it had crab dip & cheddar cheese and I got it served with Sweet Potato Fries (it comes with regular fries). My burger was requested to be well done and it came out that way (not burned in any way) and I enjoyed it. The Sweet Potato Fries had its own sauce that had a sweet caramel taste to it - yum. One in our party had the Ahi Tuna Crab Stack w/Seaweed Salad, Avocado and Grapefruit Supremes (minus the Grapefruit) - it was one of the items listed on their blackboard under Grub. That was so delicious - I didn't get a chance to try the salad, but I definitely tasted the crab and it was really good. If I am in the area again, I would love to get that as my own dish. Overall, the place seems like a real chill spot were the locals hang out. The staff was very helpful and the owner (who passed through) was real cool - nice guy. read more

Wiley Gunters is a friendly 2-story bar in Riverside. It is located just past the shopping center with Shoppers and Rite Aid. It's a Skins bar and transforms into AWESOMENESS for their games, including playing HTTR on the speakers when the Skins score (a must!) I was impressed by the service considering that this place was packed wall-to-wall for the game. The bartender was fast and you can order food on either floor and they will come find you (and promptly) to serve you your food! Prices are reasonable and thank the lord-they have a decent vodka selection along with their many seasonal beers. They also were super friendly. The crowd is your typical 20s fed hill crowd. They also have happy hour M-Th 5-7 and Fridays 4-7 with $3 and $4 drinks, and $5 apps! Will be back soon to check it out! read more
