We had a wonderful experience with Wilhelm automotive in cave creek today. Our older car had a knock and we couldn't determine what it was. Made an appointment yesterday with Wilhelm Automotive for first thing this a.m. They checked out the car, test drove it and determined it was only a loose bolt from the sway bar link that someone else replaced but didn't tighten properly. They tightened it after inspecting the car and did not charge us a dime. Would highly recommend. Eric and his team were very honest and helpfu. read more

I was quoted $1400 to have work done on my car for wheel and ball bearing replacements so I went to Wilhelm for a second opinion. Colton was able to get me in super quickly for them to take a look at my car. It turns out the bearings were fine and something just needed to be tightened. Jacob was the technician that was able to identify the issue during the diagnostic and fix it quickly. They also took the time to show me the issue and explain everything to where I understood it. Since they said it was a quick fix they didn't even charge me for it! They were so nice and really made the experience so much better. I will be coming here again if I need any work done and I would definitely recommend them! read more

Called back, they said it was a mistake and then I guess just sat the phone down because I got no answer when I asked if anybody was still there. Called back 3 more times and they hung up immediately after answering. This isn't the same business I gave a 5 star review to. This business takes pleasure in treating customers like crap. Why isn't zero stars an option?! I took my car in yesterday for an oil change, and before dropping it off, my car had zero driving or transmission issues. As soon as I picked it up and drove it off the lot, the car started shaking and jerking forward. It stalled out on me, but luckily I was able to get it restarted and barely got it home, then it stalled out again in my driveway and is currently sitting in the middle of my driveway, blocking everything else in. I don't know what their guys did to my car, but what I do know is that it was fine when I dropped it off and now it is not drivable. I am having it towed to the BMW dealership for a full inspection to see what this business did to it (whether intentionally or unintentionally), then I will have the BMW dealership fix this new problem which Wilhelm created- I will not be taking it back to them to fix as I do not trust this business to fix anything properly, and then I will have Wilhelm Automotive pay the BMW repair costs and towing bill. I wish I would have done my due diligence before leaving my car in their care, because every local person that I have spoken to about this business between last night and today have all said that Wilhelm is known for doing shady business and that they would warn everyone against ever going there. I never would have gone to them had I known this before, even for something as simple as an oil change. Regardless, I now have to spend my Sunday dealing with this issue and making new vehicle arrangements to get to my office just to go to work tomorrow morning. read more

I am super impressed! I brought my car in because I had a nail in a tire. Jose got my car inspected quickly. They had to order a tire and kept my wheel so when the tire arrived they could mount it and have it ready when I came back. I'm grateful they saved me time. Both days, I received prompt efficient service. Jose greeted my by name both days. He remembered who I was on my second visit. That level of customer service is rare these days. I was able to bring my dog and we walked while we waited for the repair. Jose even remembered my dog's name! I will definitely return and recommend Wilhelm! We do regular oil changes, 10yr old car has 100K miles. Went in due to random engine knocking to get a diagnostic check - $200 quote. They reported no codes from computer. Said we have "oil sludge" - how did they determine that? Looking at dip stick? I checked dip stick, oil somewhat dirty, no "sludge" on it. Nonsense to sell oil flush service, they did not drop the oil pan or remove filter - there is ZERO way they could tell there was sludge, just assumed it. Wanted almost $500 to change spark plugs and fuel injector cleaning. I opened hood, no evidence they removed cover to expose ignition coils or spark plugs. Told me need to replace cabin and engine filters. I know they didn't check cabin filter because glove box (filter behind it) contents were undisturbed. Also doubt they checked engine filter. Wanted $100 to change engine filter, I bought a $20 one at Walmart and replaced it in 3 minutes. Bought cabin filter for $15 and replaced in 10 minutes (they wanted $50 for that work). Bought $5 fuel and oil treatment and added half to fuel tank and oil - will change oil very soon. Seems to me they hooked up computer, saw no codes, then went to boilerplate repair work for 10yr/100Kmi car for $1500. $200 diagnostic wasted. Never trust these guys. Ladies especially, question everything they say. Did not perform service-requested, poor quality, poor service, lousy value. read more

Had a semi-emergency issue, got towed in by AAA , and the guys at Wilhelm immediately worked me into their schedule. The problem was not all that serious, they did a temporary fix and recommended finishing things at the next oil change. All at NO CHARGE. These guys are the best. read more

Wilhelm's customer service, is refusing to pay for the cost to repair the paint after they damaged our '66 Chevelle. The front right bumper was scratched but our painter buffed out. Our classic was recently painted Oct '23 so not trying to get a new paint job. We want it back to what it was before entering their shop, nothing more and nothing less. They are saying the paint job we had done was bad. For 14 months we didn't have one issue with the paint. They admitted to chipping paint on hood during a test drive. Our paint shop in Tucson says the chip on driver door and panel is possibly due to a tool box based on his experience. We were refunded $180 for the double charge on our ac system. Thanks for that but far from adequate due to situation. If they can damage our car and not take responsibility they can do the same to you. We unfortunately have to take them to court if BBB or credit card company can't find resolution. read more

****Do not use Wilhelm Automotive**** Brought my vehicle to Wilhem for repair on Wednesday. They told me the issue was a battery cable. I had them make the repair, paid for it and I picked it up Friday. I drove less than a mile home and when I turned it off, it would not start. I had to tow it back to Wilhelm. On Saturday they said they couldn't get to it but would call me Monday. Monday rolls around and nothing. I call and they tell me the "master technician" will take a look at it at 7 am Tuesday and they will call me by 830 am. It is now 1 in the afternoon and they still haven't called. I go in and now they are trying to say it is a separate issue and try to charge me for more repairs. If you tell me this is the issue and I pay you to fix it, there should not be the same issue after I drive it less than a mile. Unbelievable. Would give 0 stars read more

Very disappointed here. I came in with two problems. One was electrical, but the major issue I complained about was the seat belt buzzer that never shuts off. Just buzz-buzz-buzz while you are driving, when you are buckled up. They overcharged me for battery and never fixed the buzzer. "We never heard it." Such utter BS. When I asked why they never heard it, the guy there (Brandon) said "Well, I never drove it." What business are they in where they "repair" autos but don't drive them to make sure all is OK? read more

Great service here today. Dana helped me out with an oil and filter change for my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Dropped my truck off in the morning and it was ready early afternoon. She also replaced my air filter and cabin filter, as they were pretty dirty. Lots of moths. Moth free cabin ='s happy driver. Had the pleasure of working with Sam and Ryan in Cave Creek. My wife's warranty was about to expire in 3 days.... unfortunately they were booked for next week... Both Sam and Ryan said if you can leave the car with us for the week they would get it diagnosed and submit to warranty company for repair... They managed to get it diagnosed and a authorization number from warranty company before it expired saving us from paying close to $2000 out of pocket. read more

I give Wilhelm the highest ratings possible. I truly believe that they are the most honest and competent auto repair business that I have taken my vehicles to for service.... And the services were quite involved. One was a transmission overhaul and the other ended up at the car dealership shop to replace the pcm in my Acura (since Acura owns the proprietary software for this). The technicians at Wilhelm's spent a great deal of time on the second issue, however they only charged me for the rental fee of the diagnostic equipment and technician. They gave me a quote for the work and charged me that price. In addition to their quality work, they were great to work with. The office staff was very knowledgeable and kept me informed. The technicians were professional and competent. All in all, I feel like they treated me with the same consideration and exemplary work that they would give their own family members. read more

Customer Service "writes" on my review that they will make things right! I was excited to see someone responded and since then I've left 3 messages for them using the number they posted for me on Yelp. Unfortunately- no response from them either. So disappointing. I really thought that they would make things right and reimburse us for their manager Mitch's decision to turn us away after we had an appointment to tow our truck in for service. We called to confirm with him even before the tow truck showed up. There was another negative post in February about their service. I should have taken that as a warning. Maybe Mitch was ok until he saw us in person. Makes me think. Who knows. But this is definitely a company that must be changing. Cave Creek in be warned. read more

I took my truck there a couple months ago with a list of things they needed to be done. When I picked it up two or three of the items were not even looked out. No problem. I took it back, left it again, with inconvenience and a Lyft ride. Finally it was completed and I picked it up. I brought it back shortly after to have four tires replaced. Left it, came back, paid, took it home and I started looking at the tires and none of them had the little knubs on them that are typically on new tires. There is no doubt I was charge for new tires and they put on "take offs". Take offs are tires that were generally switched out when a car was new and only have minimal miles on them. Either way I was charged for a new one s and did not get what I paid for. I called the manager and left two messages and he never called me back. There are many other places to take your vehicle and I will never return to this shop. read more

My experience with Wilhelm was quite different from other reviewers. I brought a 1999 Toyota Tacoma Pickup with 192,000 miles in because the "check engine" light came on. The rep. explained it would cost $160 to "analyze" the vehicle in order to establish the final cost. He exact statement was "it may only require a $5 part." The truck is worth about $3,000 so I really didn't want to invest a lot of money. After the "analysis," they explained it would cost $1,100-plus to repair the truck. The final cost for the "analysis" was $179.35. Needless to say, I declined the service, took the truck to my old mechanic who analzed the situation for free and completed the repair for $500. I went to Wilhelm because they're close to my new home and have been in business for a long time. I don't enjoy bad mouthing anyone but my experience with Wilhelm was very negative and I surely would not recomend them. I paid $180 for lipservice. My advice: be careful with these guys. read more

I wanted to get my Mercedes-Benz W126 S-Class car looked at for a while since it ran sluggish, had red nail polish split everywhere, slightly scorched upholstery and had ice cream residue on the ceiling. The final straw came when my mother smashed it into a wall in our underground parking lot in another one of her drunken stupors (aka post 6:00 am). After that, I just decided - I HAD to get this car fixed. I asked my husband for help, but he said he was too busy perusing his dreams of becoming an "Actor" to even drop the car off at the shop! What is not great to say about Tobias' Automotive Specialists. Let me start from the beginning: My wife and I were not seeing eye to eye on my career choice. Being a former analytical therapist, and recently realizing that I wanted to be an actor, my wife forced me out of my house and made me live in my car. Luckily, it was a newer GMC diesel truck, so there was plenty of room. Here is where Tobias' Automotive Specialists came to help. I was adding some BlueDef Exhaust Fluid to my truck and I spilled it all over myself. My brother in law was nearby and asked me if I was OK. Admitting to him that I was afraid I just blue myself, he asked what I was trying to do. I explained to him the situation with my wife, and that in an effort to save money I had tried to practice working on my car. Unfortunately during this practice I had prematurely blown my wad on car parts, and now had a bit of a mess on my hands; as I had essentially ruined my truck by practicing on it. My brother in law then told me about Tobias' Automotive Specialists. They worked with me from day one to repair my truck. Being a struggling actor who had yet to take one in the can as far as gigs go, they gave me a fair price on all of the repairs on my truck.
