RE: BIG O Tires, Carefree highway I had a flat repaired recently at Big O tires on Carefree highway. Cost was $45. Actually had two fixed in the last month. After my first visit when I tried to replace one of the tires, I couldn't loosen lug nuts had to use a 2 foot length of pipe to increase torque. The nuts on the tire were grossly over torqued to the point it was not removable using the manufacturers supplied tools, even with my full body weight on the wrench. My guess is that it took well over 200 Ft/LBS to break all of them loose. On the previous day when I brought the car in, I had mentioned to the lady who took the order for repair, that the lugs were over torqued. She said I will make a note of that. Please note that the manufacturer spec is 79 to 94 LB/FT. I talked to Big o cashiers on May 5 at 11:00, the first man at the counter said it is sand in the threads. Reminded him that they had installed them just yesterday. The second person I talked to said that they always use a "torque tool" but it is not checked for accuracy. He did offer that the torque is on a chart out in the service area and stated most cars take about 80 to 100 Ft/lb. I told him it needs to be checked, his final answer was I will look into that. He did not offer any remedy or resolution other than "I'll look into that." This is not customer service, not courteous, rather is seems to indicate that they are saying "It's not my fault" My 25 year loyalty will now revert to Discount tires on Carefree hwy & 7th street. read more

My tire warning light came on in the car. I like to take care of car issues quickly. I was close to Big O so stopped in to have them help me. I asked one of the staff by their garage if they might help me. He told me to pull up in back of a stationary car. A young staff person helped me. Final Statement I trusted this company because I am not a mechanic and relied on their professional expertise. Made online appt. day earlier for 7 am. for Rear Brakes and Flush. Told mechanic doesn't come in until 7:30, at 8:00 they finally took the vehicle. So I sat for an hour needlessly. Said they would rush it so I got the car back in 90 min. Labor $330 = $220/hr. Mentioned the initial wait to Michelle the cashier who informed me that the mechanics don't start until 7:30-how is the customer supposed to know all this? Bad attitude, says she "will talk to I.T." As I retailer I equate bad attitude of staff to questionable service, we will see but mean time I am taking 4 cars and recommended repairs elsewhere, who needs attitude "We are sorry" goes a long way. read more

Terrible experience. Called in the new Big O Carefree/Cave Creek location for an appointment for a new set of tires and was told it would take a couple of hours, it too four hours. After it was done the balancing weights were put on the outside of the tires, so it looked terrible! I went back inside and asked them to put the weights on the inside, they did, took another hour. Paid and when I drove off it was making a tapping sound inside of the wheel well. I turned around and took it back in and another 30 minutes later they finally fixed the problem and the job. Mind you, these were in stock tires and it took 5.5 hours to finish. I was pissed and exhausted! Billing and checkout. When I paid, they automatically tacked on roadside warranty and an alignment and other add on items I never asked for plus none of these extras were explained to me, they were just added to the bill like it how they did business. The assumptive close; put it on the invoice and some folks will complain and some won't! I was soooooo ready to go after all this. Warranty. I tried to use the warranty and free rotation, they said, "you cannot make an appointment for warranty work" so I am not going through waiting without an appointment for these guys to "sweat me out" in the waiting area for something I already paid for! I don't have that kind of patience. I did get the rotation(s) done for about 18 months through another provider and paid extra. Not a great experience or value. Save yourself the heartache and please do not go to this location. I since went to another location of Big O and they did it right! Also they offered appointments for warranty work. I had an oil change here. Within one week my engine light started saying overheating, oil needs to be changed, urgent red flashing lights late at night coming off Highway. Had vehicle towed to dealership. They told me the radiator cap was missing. told shop what happened. They say they have video showing they never touched it. Won't show me the video. All is well that ends well but I won't go back as they wouldn't accept any responsibility for the incident. No one else touched my car. read more

-Purchased new tires with alignment less than 2 years ago. -Today when I took it in for rotation was told tires are apparently unrepairably worn supposedly due to misalignment with less than 24k miles on them. -Paid for the extended warranty also. (Useless as it turns out) -Took vehicle back several times during this period for inspection and rotation and not a word was said about alignment issues. -So apparently the vehicle became misaligned and tires destroyed in 6 months from last inspection. Went in for a tire repair and was sold a new tire. Returned home and new tire was deflating at an even more rapid rate. Returned and was told I had a small crack in rim. No proof of damage to original tire and staff was very rude when I asked for photo of damage to original tire. I paid for an oil change, tire rotation, filter, change, etc. They told me it would be done in an hour... It took 2 1/2. Then when I got home, I realized that they had oil spilled everywhere on the inside of the cab of my truck all over the door all over the floor mat. Been going here for 3 years and then my normal service rep is no longer there. Will never go here again! Do not waste your time! - Went in for a flat tire on my Mercedes, ended up buying 4 tires and since they have the car do the oil change. Left my car there. 11:30am Friday - By 2pm I had several calls, they couldn't find the key to unlock lock the wheels, I don't have the key. (I've never had to change my tires) keep in mind I've had my tires rotated and oil changed at this location from Steve Ryan for years. I ask, is there a master key that you have? Replied no and we called other vendors and they don't either. So you're telling me you're a car repair and tire place and don't have the tools to change my tires? Nothing they could do. It's not almost 3pm and my car is there with a flat and they are telling me nothing they can do as we are approaching the weekend. They did change my oil for $162. - I called Mercedes Road side and the towed my car out of there and I am still waiting on the $1000 refund for my tire deposit from Big O. - When they get my car up they said I needed new spark plugs which Big O never told me and discovered I have an oil leak which didn't they just change the oil!? Needless to say, don't waste your time or money going here! They talk down to you like you don't know anything about your own car. Repeat the same script without actually finding solutions. Made online appointment for an Alignment. Received confirmation email of appointment. Showed up and was told they don't take appointments on the weekends even though they give the option online. Paid for a four wheel alignment but they were unable to adjust the front wheels Camber on a 2001 Ford Escape. Manager said that they're unadjustable, and that aftermarket cam bolts for strut adjustments don't exist. However, they do sell them at every big box store, this car is 20 years old, the alignment has been adjusted many times. Don't go here, they don't know what they're doing. My fiancé had a total front brake job done on our Expedition in February. When he returned home the brakes had been sounding strange. So we brought it to a local brake shop. They had put both the inside brake pads on the drivers side and both the outside on the passenger side. Causing the brakes on one side to do all the stopping. It also caused the brand new rotor to have to be replaced again. We have contacted them and they are not taking any responsibility for their crappy workmanship. If their technician had installed them properly we would not have had to replace the pads and rotor in August again. Do not trust them for your brake jobs. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever. Took it in for a tire repair and oil change. Also asked them to replace burnt out bulbs. Took 3 hours and then they tried to send me home with the bulbs still not replaced. Then, I noticed my center cap on the rim of the tire they replaced was missing. They tried to tell me it wasn't on but I persisted and finally they found it and reinstalled. They messed up the TPMS because I still have a light out. Today, car wouldn't start and I discovered the cables were both loose. I wouldn't let these clowns wash my windows. Sloppy and careless work. They gave me coupons for 2 free oil changes but I will never let them touch my car again. read more

They did the RIGHT thing. Months ago, I left a scalding review. Management responded by inviting me in to discuss the problem. They explained that they had made the necessary changes both at the front desk and in the shop and asked for a chance to rectify the situation. I can't say enough about the service I received. They went above and beyond what anyone would expect. I've been back for two other problems: a fuel injector leak and a rat residing on my engine block (nothing to do with Big"O"). Second, I asked if they had anybody who could remove a rabbit that had somehow got behind the front grill of my car. My wife got a flat on her Kia so she dropped it off at this store to get a replacement. They charged $460.00 dollars to replace install a single tire. $400 after I dropped the protection plan. Complete rip off Discount Tire would replace and install same tire for $240. Took my 4runner in for repairs, ended up having to get everything they touched repaired at the dealership! Left parts inside the timing belt cover that caused it to jump a few teeth. Put on new upper control arms and my tires rub now, even after I paid for spacers on wheels. The alignment was supposed to be done at that time, they provided paper work showing that it had been completed. Steering wheel was cocked to the left, took it back, turns out the didn't do it! Scratched center caps on newly powder coated wheels, torqued them after putting center caps on...you are a tire store, come on!!Replaced mass airflow sensor and they was bad too, replaced at dealership. Did an oil change, oil was leaking at the filter, had to have dealership fix that too. The list goes on...+3k in repairs and nothing was fixed. I have had an awful experience with this location of Big O. It started with them putting the wrong tires on the truck. They replaced them and corrected the mistake but the alignment was off on the truck. I brought the truck in 3 different times in the 10 days or so after the initial alignment, each time telling me it was fixed. The truck was pulling to the right. Finally in the last visit I was told the alignment is straight but they were having trouble getting the steering wheel to be perfectly aligned as it was slighty off to the left. Fine I said. I spend way too much time there already for a simple tire change. Now, I have two front tires that are destroyed because the alignment was never actually fixed. I went in on Monday 6/12 and spoke with Gil Saenz about the situation and asked them to replace the tires. He told me he would order the tires and talk to his GM and for me to come back next day. Gil didn't even look at the tires to see the abnormal wear. I go in on Tuesday 6/13 and speak with Gil again. All he tells me is the GM never showed up and he doesn't control the GM's (Blade I believe) schedule. He would call me when the GM gets in which would be shortly. Never heard from him. So I called same day around closing. Was told GM never showed up. I call again Wednesday 6/14, Gil tells me they want tire rotation records but won't tell me why knowing full well a tire rotation will not fix a bad alignment and instead of having 2 destroyed tire I would have 4. Gil tells me he will let his GM know and call me back. Nothing later on Wednesday or Thursday from Gil. So I call again this morning. They are not going to replace the tires that are ruined because I was lied to about the alignment being fixed, because the tires had not been rotated. Again all this would have done is destroy all 4 tires because this is not normal tire wear. 5 days of constantly contacting the location for them to do what was right as the tire damage is clearly caused by a bad rotation. Picture is posted of the tire. Which again, no one in the store even bothered to look at. Obviously will not be going back to this location. The GM also runs the location at Cave creek and Rose Garden, which has been GREAT to me, but has now also lost my business. It's just one customer to them so I know they wont care but don't put yourself in the position of additional expenses by going through this location. read more

This Company is a RIP OFF. Just 6 months ago our friends brought 4 brand new tires for their Tesla and they paid for an Alignment. Now we have found out that Big O Tires never did an Alignment because they DO NOT have the Software required to do the Alignment. We had to take the car in because 2 of the tires were now completely bald on the inside (because they lied about doing an Alignment). The worst part is that they Charged us Full Price again for 2 new front tires and a new warranty on the tires. We weren't even given any kind of credit toward the New Tires. At Least Discount Tires will give you some credit toward New Replacements. They even changed the price on the tires after they realized that they would not be able to charge me for an Alignment again. I was down in the valley for appointments when my car broke down in rush hour traffic. I managed to slowly make my way to this location. Steve welcomed me in and my car was quickly taken into the bay for diagnostic genius work by their Master Mechanic Kris. You know you're in the best place possible when Kris expertly figured out and zeroed in the issues, fully explained it to me, then got to work replacing several parts and even noticed cracked hose lines so replaced them too and pulled my car out of the bay running perfectly smoothly in under an hour!! The team knew I was leaving to drive up I 17 to get home and welcomed me to call them if I had any issues or questions. There is no better outcome for a total crisis situation than a perfectly running vehicle in an hour! This can only happen with an experienced mechanic and a team that is happy at work and care about their customers! My total bill was extremely reasonable. This is a shop you can trust! read more
